XBMC for Android - Eee Pad Transformer General

I was reading today that the source code for XBMC has been made available to compile an APK.
What's your thoughts on this?
I have to say this should be great.

Yeah can't wait untill someone compile's the source. This should turn our transformers in to nice media centers when we need them to.

Im using this on my tf201, no problems so far:

Tryed the apk on the tf101 but no success. It wont start. Hopefully we will get a working apk soon

Don't bother, not going to work on tegra 2 yet. Only neon based chips. Probably have to wait several weeks.

Thats a shame. I would have loved to give it a whirl. Any news on if there is going to be any Dev on XDA for the TF101?
If so maybe set up a new thread with all the info needed to compile the APK.

By the way anybody looking for the source kan find it here: https://github.com/xbmc/android
The guide to compile the APK can be located here: https://github.com/xbmc/android/blob/android-rebase-8/docs/README.android

Wow this works! Where did you get this or you compiled yourself and where would future updates for this version be attained?
Great job in sharing, Tegra 2 is sorely been over looked.

The app looks amazing, but the volume on videos seems very low. Anyone else having an issue?
Edit: Ignore that, seems the volume control for xbmc doesn't override the system volume, that and I'm an idiot.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium

Having the sound issueś aswell and can´t find the option in XBMC to edit sound levels.
Also is anyone having issue´s with force close. I don´t know if it is a JellyBean issue of if it is because of the early stages the app is still in.
But great work on getting it working :good:

I only just heard of xbmc a few weeks ago and now i have the pleasure of trying this. I can confirm that this works too, but im having a bit of trouble with some unpleasant stuttering for some avi files. anyone get this running flawlessly for them, or have newer update(s)?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda app-developers app

Video works fine, I have no sound on tv streams (icefilms, 1channel etc), force closes at random times and an occasional flickering of the screen other then that XBMC itself is looking great I always thought the XBMC interface would work well with a touchscreen device and it does!
Cheers for sharing the link

Not really , The final product has not yet been released.
Sam definitely got a head start though many props to him for kicking feature into motion.
Yes it is.
I believe this only works on sense though :/
Yes it only works on sense roms that already have stock HDMI working. Orrebmas has also stated that he will work on an ASOP version when this is complete.

The final products have not be released so knockout punch has not yet occurred.
Props to Orrebmas for this...but can we not make it like there's a competition between Teamwin and Orrebmas? Orrebmas' main focus was HDMI so of course he would be the first out of the gate with it. Teamwin's goal was to get Wimax working on the Evo, and have always stated that it was 4G first, then HDMI.
I'm sure Shinzul and Orrebmas would like nothing more than to spend their time doing what they love best, and that's coding, not trying to manage the bickering that has developed surrounding this. #thatisall

No. This kernel is a modified netarchy version.

Im using it. Works great. Fps isn't perfect because your outputing 2 displays. 1 at 800x480 and another at 1280x720. He says that 3d games work better than anything else because the mirroring app uses the 2d engine and the game uses the 3d engine
Excellent work, Asphalt was super cool! I noticed a couple of things, 1)WiFi didn't work when mirroring, had to turn it off to get a connection. 2) issues when competing with regular HDMI service, eg using mirror and videos from native video player.
Arch media was pretty good playing .avi files, not perfect but quite serviceable (on sync but only good pic).
Thanks dude, awesome work!

Chrome For Android Beta

So basically its the stock 4.0 browser with the chrome skin and no flash and as of yet no chrome plugin support. But try it out anyway.
Its never gonna support flash, just like android post-4.0

Awesome. Thanks for the heads-up! finally something that can compete with dolphin for pad...
I thought it was ICS only?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485495
I've been using it since yesterday on the CM9 KANG in my P7500. Have to say I'm VERY impressed. Seems faster and more "desktop-ish" than the stock browser. It surely deserves a try!
working fine for me but.....
After fooling around I can't find any way to set the user agent to desktop. Is there a way, a tweak for that yet? That's quite annoying
Its ICS Only!
Well, if anyone here is not using any of the Kang CM9 ports on their GT10.1, then you don't know what you're missing. No reason for anyone to be stuck on 3.2.
No flash, no YouTube desktop site, no good.

You would assume wrong. I refer you to the lmgtfy link; pretty much the first post has confirmation that even though the apk is there, it won't do anything, and nor has copying it over from another device worked. Asus has disabled it for whatever reason.

That seems more likely, but until somebody tries it, we don't know if Asus disabled it for a good reason.
Maybe it's relevant to the issue, but I have a Nexus S on stock ICS, and the Face Unlock feature isn't available as well.
Maybe it's only available to the Galaxy Nexus as of right now.
I have it on my Galaxy Nexus and it is kind of fun to show off but not that great unless you are always sitting in a well lit area. Not worried about it at all.

Looking for Beta Testers :)

Hi everyone,
Some of you may know me for bringing Onskreen's Cornerstone to the HP Touchpad. I've received a couple of requests to bring it to the Asus Transformer. I've got a test build and I need about 2-3 brave souls with TF201's to test it out. Keep in mind that I do not have a Transformer; however, after doing it for the Touchpad, the Transformer should be pretty straightforward.
Please PM me if interested.
Thanks!

I'd love to test, but only got TF101 to offer
I saw your reference to onskreen posted on the ARHD thread and looked it up...
Loved the concept since I'd always seen those Android devices as also being a thin client for the desktop and living room big screen.
Only problem: I ain't got no TF201 and the toy budget is kinda drained after I want crazy with a Notion Ink Adam, a TF101, a Galaxy S and a Galaxy Note last year...
Both NI Adam and TF101 are on ICS.

Changed my mind. I highly recommend against this rom for most people. Can't stand newbies whining about this early build. If you want multiple windows, just get an ipad. Then, you're apple's problem, not ours anymore.
That said, now that I've experienced multiple windows, I can't go back anymore. I'm sticking with this rom despite all the bugs.

Xbmc on xoom

Hi, anyone knows how to install a stable version of xbmc for xoom and does not produce a Force closed.
I've been installing nightlies for the last couple of months on my stock xoom 4.1.2 and as far as I know it's not stable yet .

I have been using the December 6 2012 no-neon version by xda and the force closures seem to be minimum. Still there are force closures. The more recent December 21, 2012 version seemed to be closing more often. I have rooted the Xoom (602) and am using the EOS 4 nightly 163 with Jellybean 4.2
Thanks, I'll try the Dec. 6 as you say to see if it produces less closures, I'm in the topics eos 155
