Looking for DEVS to help with Motorola XPRT side project. - Droid Pro General

Hello everyone!
My name is AndroiddiordnA and I have a Motorola XPRT that I am looking to revive from the brink of extinction.
I am looking for a couple developers that are willing to work with me on three assignments.
1. Getting a stock deodexed rom .zip flashing in recovery.
2. Initial port of any form of AOSP rom (cm7-cm9)
3. Take that port and make it into a form of daily driver.
All three assignments are separate as I will be offering reimbursement for each.
Reimbursement can be discussed over PM *NOT IN THREAD*
Please let me know if you would like to help me with my project. Either message me below, or send me a PM.
Thank you,
AdA

I know very little on the development side of things, but i just wanted to say THANK YOU!
I have been searching and searching for roms for my xprt.
I was so happy to see ur post about making some.
like i said im not very good on the dev side of things, but i will do my best to help as much as i can if needed.
again, THANK U!

Rom development would be much easier if I could root this thing already :c

all SuperOneClick versions. Motofail.
Zergrush. Gingerbreak. Univeral Androot.
z4root. and psneuter. None have worked.

i have just got out of a sprint bootloop on my XPRT ( using outta country with a local gsm operator)
so currently on 2.2.2 ( .110 ) version.
would appreciate if some good gent or gents jump onto this ship and Help us all with some custom ROM, coz really froyo just cant do no justice to this phone with decent specs and potential.
If there is any kind of need , plz shoot we ll try and make for it but someone plz come overboard and give us a decnt custom ROM kernel combo

Has any type of progress been made with this yet? I certainly hope so.

I pledge $50 to this project, provided it gets done before I sell my XPRT as scrap.

Can't flash roms if you can't root the damn thing.
Sent from my MB612 using xda app-developers app

I wish to help with this if I can. We've finally gotten root on gingerbread.

I pm'd the OP to see if he was still working on this a while ago, but never got a reply.

Step one, read beerdroids "how to" guide on root, flash, etc. Look in the general forum

OK guys I've learned a lot in the past 12 hours. I appreciate all of the help. My question, is it easier just to download cyanogenmod on the rom manager app than downloading it thru the website?

I would just go to the thread in the Original Development section on this forum, follow the direct link and download the latest nightly - I have experience with other devices but, after die research on here, bought my S4 this evening and had CM running ten minutes after I got home. You can do it too!

Good deal, you graduated No seriously, download it direct from the site. This insures a good copy. Very easy setup, so go for it.

Now as far as any OTA updates i want/need, what is the protocol in getting them?
You can't get them on a custom rom
I forget what I read on a custom recovery and rooted--getting older--
I think you need to go back to stock--someone can confirm
I haven't Googled that yet either
There were some rootkeeper apps that were used on my other phones, don't know what works here
I never took OTA's after rooted and flashing my other phones as dev's seemed to have updates faster than my carrier

Generally, the newer firmware versions that get pushed out as OTA updates will be incorporated into custom Touchwiz roms, such as ShoStock and Mint Jelly. However, if you flash CyanogenMod or any other AOSP-based rom such as SlimBean or AOKP, OTA updates will be completely meaningless. It's a different world altogether.
Either way, my advice is the same: Don't mess with OTA's. At best, they could give you the same features as a custom rom. At worst, they could kill the Loki exploit and lock your bootloader for good.

[Q] New to Nexus 7

up front sorry for all the noob questions....
I bought the nexus 7 from a co-worker, it was already rooted and loaded with CM 10.1.
I hear android images for 4.3 hit today, I don't want to loose root so what do I need to do?
About how long does it take CM to have 4.3 available?
Nobody knows. When source is released then the cm team will evaluate and attempt to merge the code.
Just wait patiently or learn how the entire system works and do it yourself.

You read everything you can. You obviously do not need to be trying to flash anything at this point or you will be back here asking how to recover your device. You need to spend at least a few days reading. As far as root goes, there is no method to root yet... It just came out.

Will that's not quite true, I am on 4.3 and have root back with the new super user...
BUT, Russell, I agree with graydiggy. Read read read... There are stickies and info threads that tell how to root, unlock, flash.... Know how to do this before you go playing with new versions and CM night lies... and tempting as it may be, know enough beyond a "toolkit" to root, unlock etc... WUGFRESH has a nice tool but knowing is more than half the battle in this case... Enjoy CM 10.1 until you know enough, and they have 4.3 base... With some work, they will be about the same time...

Development?

Just purchased my G2 yesterday and am shocked at the amount of development being done. So far I am loving it. Speed and data for me are insane. I'm already rooted however still researching recovery options. Something is telling me this phone is a pain to flash. But Evert if that is the case the HTC one S was a pain also and there was still tons of development being done. I'm I missing something?

Just throw TWRP or CWM on it and get started. It's as simple as that. I have flashed many times already.
This is the simplest phone phone ever had.
Easy to root and easy to flash.
Just make sure read on it before you do anything.
Right know I'm on pa-4.4.km.

Agreed. Development on the G2 is amazing, the scene seems even hotter than when the Gnex came out.
My Note 3 is going on Swappa tonight!
Note 3= Dissapointment & Development Joke.
LG is really making magic happen latley.
I appreciate everyone's input. Don't get me wrong I'm loving so far. I'm just accustomed to more Roms with different ports . picking up the HTC one today. Love new toys

My question is did anyone found a way to remove that ROOTED text when you boot into download mode after going back to stock? I meant after unrooting by flashing back lg stock firmware using the ODIN or something like that.

Agreed. Especially the VS980. Development has been very slow and there are only a handful of 4.4 ROMs for it. The casual flashers will continue to praise the "quick development", but the avid crack flashers are, I'm sure, disappointed by the slow updates.
Also just my thoughts and observation. I support the ROMs I use by donating, but I don't know how to to develop.
There's only a handful of 4.4 ROMs for every phone. Carbon, AOKP and PAC aren't doing many nightlys now because of the 4.3 to 4.4 switch. When they get ROMs more stable for us we'll see more of them rolling out.

Whats the easiest way to root a i337 with mk2 4.3?

I have a at&t i337 s4 with android 4.3 mk2 & I need to root it so I can get my safestrap going for my custom rom of choice..I lost root & last time I was running 4.2.2 & used kingo root..I tried that today but it was only good up to 4.2.2 not 4.3 from what I gathered..so whats the quickest easiest way for me to root now? I've done some research but found alot of confusing & conflicting results so thought I'd just ask here on xda where I've never been done wrong..thanks

Check my profile and see my stupid questions I've had in the past if it can make you feel better.ADB is not that bad if set up correctly.everything you search will bring you back to XDA so I will say good luck and you can do it
