Battery calibration, galaxy tab 2 CM9 - Galaxy Tab 2 General

Battery calibration, galaxy tab 2 CM9CM9, and at first glance it seemed that the battery was draining way too fast.
So after some research, I found a solution to this problem. When I had the stock rom, the battery life was like 15 hours, all day wifi on. But when I moved to cyanogenmod 9, the battery life dropped drastically to about 6 hours, minimum brightness levels. So got back to stock. Soon I was missing CM9
Suddenly came to my mind that maybe the problem wasn't CM9, since I have read that many people is very happy with battery endurance.
When we flash a new from, the battery data remains intact, this sometimes causes the new rom to have a bad reading of the stats.
The solution I found is battery calibration. You can find an app for free in the market. What it does is, it wipes your battery data so the new rom generates fresh data.
You just have to get your GT2 fully charged, then calibrate with the app.
Since I did this, I feel battery life has improved, in fact, I think it is better than before CM9.
YOU SHOULD GIVE IT A TRY.
it worked fine for me.

sorry
The post was right before sending it.
Tried to attach a pic, but I'm new here guys

Battery calibrate only deletes the existing battery usage data. It gives you a fresh look at what is draining your battery. This has been argued many times in just about every other device forum. Here is the answer from the google rep.

[Q] SnsService constantly restarting

I am running the stock DL30, and like a lot of others, I have experienced pretty poor battery life. Took my phone off charge this morning at 100%, and about 3 hours later with very little use, I'm at about 80%. Decided to take a look at the services running, and SnsService is constantly restarting. Could this possibly be the culprit of my poor battery? Is it safe to stop it? Or is there something I need to do so it's not restarting? I know the service has something to do with Social Networking Services, but that's about the most I could find.
I already tried wiping the battery stats at 100% charge, draining to 0% and wiping the battery stats, deep charging (drain to 0, then charge to 100% powered off), and a few other things I have read on here to improve battery on DL30, but so far, it's still pretty poor. I keep hearing about people getting excellent battery on DL30, so there has to be something I can do to be one of them.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Honestly didn't realize I was posting this in Dev forum. So sorry. Please have mercy on me. Please move to General
You might as well just update to EB01, since that's now out, and DL30 is very likely to be abandoned very soon. Upgrading to EB01 might also 'fix' whatever battery issues you have.
My battery is not doing to well either. I can's use exchange because the email app runs at 100% all the time and it drops like 5% every few minutes. went to 70% in an hour.
I've had poor battery life on DL30 and Eb01 as well, I have services that constantly run on these builds that don't normally on others. Not sure what the deal is but battery life sucks

Upgraded to EB01 as first reply suggested. It appears the SnsService constantly restarting thing is not happening anymore, but my first impression is that battery life is still pretty poor. Decided to go with Superclean 2.0, too.
I'll have a better idea tomorrow using it a full day on a full charge. Plus, I did not wipe battery stats after installing EB01, so I'm planning on trying that tomorrow morning when the charge is 100%. We'll see what happens. But I can honestly say, I'm a little tempted to just go back to DJ05 or DL09. I had amazing battery life with both of those.
Try cycling both gps and data twice after reboot..that stopped the 100% system up time for me.

Battery issues - Need Tips please

Hello everyone, i am writing this thread today, in hope of getting some battery tips from you lot, why? Well because my phone is having some serious battery issues, it only lasts 6 hours max, no matter which rom is on it, which is just not good enough.
I have used the stock froyo rom, SlashDW's CM 7.0.1 unofficial rom, and now running Frosense, by Rushness, but i have had no sucess with this battery problem.
Hopefully someone can help me solve this issue, i would be very greatful, thanks.
Try to wipe battery settings from recovery before flashing rom.
like extrahacker said, wipe battery stats... than leave device powered off and charge till full, than re-install rom of choice
I looked at a post regarding that on the web, and followed the instructions. Charged till full, wiped battery stats, and then let it drain and charge again, still no luck. Any other ideas? Thanks for your help, you both
I find that the CM roms are very battery consuming. The Froyo for Trout rom gives me a full day.
You must also consider that the battery is 2+ years old, it would have high battery wear. Which might explain why you have bad battery life.
Agree with Ace42 - I recently acquired a G1 and the battery life was shocking, I was lucky if I got 4 hours! I have just switched on my phone with a new battery from ecell off ebay and will give it a blast over the weekend.
It can't do any worse but I am hoping for at least 8/9 hours!
OK so the first day I just scraped 24 hours... it must have been the old battery!
I can't complain!

Battery life been sucking...

I don't know if it's my imagination, but since the 2.4.6 update, my battery life has dropped a bit. By the time I get into my office from my morning commute, I'm anywhere in the 65-70% battery life after unplugging from a full charge. I haven't done anything new. I always unplug around 8:30 am when I head out, I do some light chatting with gf, browse some sites, check facebook (usually very briefly), and maybe sometimes do a little reading on my device. By the time I get into the office around 9:30 or 10 AM, I'm usually around the 80-85% area with battery.
Lately, doing the same thing, I'm seeing the aforementioned 65-70%.
Is anyone else experiencing decreased battery life since 2.3.6?
I'm on a Tmobile Nexus S, running stock 2.3.6 (no custom ROMs).
2.4.6 ? .... maybe 2.3.6 ... and yes, I also noticed a slight increase in power consuption after the upgrade. The stand-by is still great .. about 0.8 - 1% per hour.
Sorry, yes I meant 2.3.6.
Thanks for replying Ro_explorer. Is your increased power consumption significant? Seeing 65-70% when I'm used to seeing 80-85% as I get into my office, I find, is a large change. To be frank, the battery life of the Nexus S in general isn't so fantastic to begin with... this hit makes it worse.
Anyone else?
I used to get home with about 40-50% after a whole "normal day" (unplugged at 8AM, and getting back home at ~8PM) .. now (with the same average usage) I'm getting home with ~30-40% ... that why I said "slight increase" ...
Not your imagination, I too have noticed this. I hope the next update, will fix this - as I used to get pretty good battery life (even with over 250 apps).
When I recently updated to the 2.3.6, it caused a bug of continuous reboot (every 1-3 minutes), so I had to do a hard reset - now it works fine, but I only have added back about 15 apps - and the battery life sux!
Downgrade OS' it will be ok.
This is so weird. Why is the battery life worse?

You want bad battery life? Try an Evo 4g with a Sense rom. I averaged about 6hrs using a 1500mAh battery, in stock form.
The nexus is pretty light on power consumption, if you ask me. I average 15hrs on the stock 2.3.7 rom/kernel combo, with stock battery.

I'm on 2.3.6 and need to charge every two days. I text a lot and do light gaming. I'm typing this from my phone. Maybe you could drain the battery and wipe battery stats? I'm not even at 50% yet and I charged yesterday.

I also noticed that the battery last less time
I've been waiting to see if anybody else reporting this issue
i noticed a decent increase in battery life going to 2.3.7 and thought that previously the battery life had been fairly poor :\
I am non rooted, and get around 20 hrs on light to moderate use. Again. Stock, non rooted.
How do I recalibrate my battery? I wonder if it could be that...
There are many was to recalibrate. Some involve wiping batt stats, some plugging and unplugging phone several times after charge.
I have always found that using the battery almost all the way down, but not past 5%, and then full recharge conditions it very well.
Oh I've been here to solve the problem
"Why last 2 weeks my Nexus s drain battery so fast ? or I have to calibrate it"
Thank for your notice about update OS to 2.3.6.
I think that's a root cause for me too.
1. Could I rollback to 2.3.4 ,how?
2. Does battery calibration is useful for this case , how?( someone suggest to calibrate when flashing new rom )
Thank you very much..
i want to know who have some methods to do with this stuff

Whenever switching roms, kernels, or batteries, i always perform the following :
1. Charge to a true 100% (Battery Monitor Widget will register +0 to +2 mA)
2. Wipe battery stats using recovery (Amon RA has this option for the Evo, not sure about cwm), Battery Monitor Widget, or a dedicated app.
3. Discharge battery to 0% with normal usage. When the phone shuts down, I pull and re-install the battery and power back up (it will shutdown again very quickly).
4. Recharge battery and be on my merry way.

I found one workaround solution for this issue on
ww.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=1684c50cea15282a&hl=en&fid=1684c50cea15282a0004af022e5ed212
Sproogle77 's solution
Problem solved. Using the OS Monitor app, I found that the main culprit was Google Services - the Contacts sync specifically. Even though I had this disabled (only Gmail was being allowed to sync) it was constantly working, apparently trying to fix a location. The message log showed that it was generating continuous debug messages, all about locations - around 10 of these every second.
I have solved the problem by disabling 'Use wireless networks' under the Locations & Security settings.'Use GPS satellites' is still running. This immediately dropped my CPU usage - which had been running around 30 to 40% even when otherwise idle, to around 10%. Google contacts sync is now using 0% of the CPU. The difference in battery life was pretty much immediate and is now back to what it was before - the change in the slope on the battery usage graph is remarkable!
This doesn't really seem like a solution to me, and I don't know whether other aspects of my functionality are being affected, but at least my phone is properly useable again.
I'm testing for 1 day and I think that's working for me.

One reason is that the new version of the stock kernel removed a speed stepping, so it'll power to higher levels faster, thus using more battery.

That actually isn't the problem. I'm using netarchy's kernel and still get this problem.
My battery life dropped from 16 hours --> 6 hours. the slope on my battery usage life is horrible the system is also awake almost constantly even when I'm not touching it / getting no messages.
I will try the fix suggested on the google support forum and see if that does the trick. sloppy update.

[Q] [HELP] Battery issues

Hello! I'm having serious problems with my battery. Since I installed CM10 my battery just goes from 80 to about 60 or 50%, then it drops again from 40 to 20%. Already tried to calibrate with battery calibration app, or this methods, done full wipe (did the process from the beggining, back to Cm7 and no results at all!
Pictures attached.
Please, pleaase help! I'm selling my defy, and do not want to sell it with this issue.
PS: Original battery

After checking the ownership in root explorer or simular apps, recharge to 100% and let it sit for a couple of hours. Do that again after discharging it.
You will probably be selling a worn battery anyhow, but then maybe with a calibration so the percentages work. This is mostly due to changing with a fast-charger (not the stock one) or charging it not often enough. If you have the habit to let it go to 0%, then it is worn in less then a year to a degree that it last for a couple of hours less then in the beginning.
New battery is the only way, I got an anker one off amazon for £5 and have great battery life on cm10. The
above method or a change of ROM may help but the only real cure for me was a new battery

Poor batter life

I changed from Note 3 to s 6 edge plus recently
The battery drops 5% per hour overnight when not in use. If I go to bed with less than 40% battery at night I am sure to wake up with my phone switched off in the morning.
When in use with screen on, the battery drips one percent every two minutes. This is the worst battery life I have ever seen in a phone. I was a long loyal customer of samsung and this is my last samsung phone ever.
Extremely disappointed
Please post your battery stats ? so we can have a better understanding of your problem. I suggest you install 'Doze' which should stop unnecessary apps from connecting to the internet and causing your phone to awake from deep sleep.
Dear Akbar 11
Heres the battery stats....is it normal?
I had the same issue, and as far as I managed to find out, it is a bug in Samsung's kernel. Flashing Arter97 kernel solved the issue for, but do post battery stats from SmartManager. If it says 'Android' or 'Android OS', then you have the same problem many of us do.
I don't think it's a kernel problem. My android OS is very low 4%. Like zoolok said post your battery stats from settings, battery, battery usage
I have the same problem. Battery was great before I flash custom rom. After going back to stock I have big battery draining. I must stay on custom rom. With Audax rom and Skyhigh kernel i have great battery life.
You have either messed up something big or you have an app in the background that is eating up your battery like no tomorrow.
And the reason i say that is because i recently got this battery life on my Galaxy S6 edge+.
And this was taken 2 days ago.
Here i use the CRISSCROSS ROM, AudaxPro Kernel, Greeinify and Samsung's own 'Appoptimizing' feature (same as Doze in Android 6.0).
So my battery life is pretty awesome.
i have problem whit battery lose 25% when i sleep
This is a usual day with s6 edge plus

i have this problem battery ... if u fixed it tell me how?
Well I was expecting Google Play Services to be eating your battery (which is quite common) but it looks like your Andriod OS is eating the most battery. I would uninstall Facebook and use the web version it always helps with the ram and battery furthermore, turn off location if you are not using it and check accounts which are being synced. These are the only tips I can give you as I have never seen Android OS drain so much battery.
Since a few days Google Play Store is eating up my battery: I go to sleep with 100% batt and wake up with 50%, if I check batt stats on top I have play store at 45%, with 5h active a d 2h of CPU.
Follows Android system at 5%.
Going crazy why...

You've charged your phone 4 times during that day. I can't see what's the interesting part here.
