HBO GO for tablets not loading video - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so the app has installed(sideloaded) on my n7 but I cant get any videos to play after the HBO page anyone with a n7 have any luck?

are u signed in with service provider on the pc version of hbo to go?

Had the same issue OP. I'd sometimes get the first little blip with the HBO splash and the ratings but then a perma load when trying to actually bring up the video.

Yes, on my N7. And yes, it's certainly running JB :good:
Someone said they got it working on JB on the Xoom so I started looking at that last night but haven't made any particular progress. Will post if I do.

Anyone get HBO GO running yet? I'm surprised they haven't updated their app for JB compatibility. I sideloaded but have the same probs mentioned above.

this is the only thing getting in the way of making my n7 absolutely perfect. comeooon hbo

It took them a long time to even support ICS never mind a newer OS.... I agree it would rock to have it.

This is the one of which we speak. There are bugs in the tutorials. Haven't figured out how to use the Thumb Sticks for viewing my consist and switches while running routes. I still feel its worth it.
Edit: I'm starting to rethink my initial impression of this game. It really is buggy. I wonder if it's because of my custom rom? Is anyone running this on stock? I'm running it on Virtuous Galaxy 1.5. I may flash and retry.

Im currently running it on a stock rooted rom.
Im not finding it buggy at all, but iv only had a few quick goes, but i havnt come across any problems as of yet, so i may have just been lucky.

I flashed to primee and still no joy on thumbsticks. However, the controls no longer disappear. The views are working as well. Seems snappier.

Netflix issue?

Okay, well I got the official Netflix that supports the tab 10.1 now, but it looks wrong... I've seen screenshots of Netflix on the tab 10.1, and it always has the bar on top. Like the bar with the search button and etc... but mine has it on the bottom. It also doesn't show anything in HD. I'm wondering if its like this for anyone else or just me. Picture attached shows it. I also can't search anything. My Netflix version is 1.4.0 if you want it.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
That's how mine has looked since 1.3 and touchwiz. For me it did not look like that on vanilla honeycomb.
Since there is no official support (besides he fact we can get it in the market) not surprising it does not stream in HD. The official support is for 2.2 and 2.3 phones which do not have an HD screen.

Nope, just copied the files over.

Has the I/O Tab 10.1 been forgotten?

Like, the title says...I wonder what will happen to the I/O tab. No updates to touchwiz, will we get 3.2? Or will it be forgotten very quickly?
I am thinking it is forgotten. Remember there were/are at most 5000 of them. A very small percentage, and more then likely a large percentage are rooted and running custom ROMs at this point anyway (mine is not because I wanted to watch Google movies on it, but that turned out to be an epic fail, but more on that in another thread).
Since we got it for free, I can't really blame them, but I can still be disappointed I guess.

So the I/O got 3.2? Was it with or without Touchwiz?
I wouldn't say it was free. How much were the tickets, $900?

Didn't they get Nexus S phones aswell? .
I don't think the 10.1 I/O versions will get touchwiz, usualy developers for android wants a pure android experience?
The GIO is a developer build - which means it is great for custom ROMs - i am running Task's 3.2 ROM on it and it smooooooth and much more responsive than before
Can someone please confirm that the I/O got 3.2 also?

3.2 update was only for Retail tabs. I/O didn't get anything till now except for the Google movies update.
Well it got from 3.0 to 3.1 and the goog movie update.
But what is strange is that as a dev.device it doesnt get the 3.2 first. forgotten maybe?

We got to 3.1 with movies and no Touchwiz. I wouldn't be surprised if ICS turned up.

Well, it's not really like this tablet is google's "Nexus", right?
Yea i wouldn't say it is a dev tablet seeing as the xoom was the first out with HC all the major updates went to that tablet first. I think of it as a limited edition.

Indeed, now when you say it. I'm 99% sure that I heard someone from androids dev. team saying in a interview (when the xoom was new and everything was developed) that the Xoom was the tab everyone was "keeping in mind" when coding HC.
Just check with OTA and KIES.....still nothing on the I/O tab

[Q] Nexus 7 Getting 4.2 on Nov 13?

WIll the Nexus 7 be getting 4.2 ota on November 13 to match the Nexus 4 and 10? Thanks.
Yes it will come with 4.2 jelly bean .
I mean for current Nexus 7 users...
I'm curious too. I really want to try it out. I'm guessing since its a nexus device, it should come down too, or at least have an official flash image since they are bringing out Nexus 7 32gb devices.
yea, worst case scenario the newer devices will have a short exclusivity window of a couple weeks. But being a nexus device, we WILL get it shortly
Fingers crossed.
My question is do I need to unroot my tablet in order to get the OTA?
I would much rather be on stock 4.2 than rooted 4.1.2

just flash a stock rooted 4.2 ROM when I comes out.... you can OTA while unlocked you just lose root if on a stock rooted 4.1.x rom
Crossing fingers as well. I need the multiple users setup badly, its to the point that i removed all my twitter, facebook and gmail just to keep my kids out of my stuff. I need to lockdown the playstore too. The way it is now its just no fun for me to use having to log into the store and visit gmail via browser..
This for me is the biggest improvement i look forward too. My GS3 could use multiple users as well at times.. again when i let the kids use it..

That's your choice. I have 4.1.2 on mutt Amaze...I don't believe for a second someone on xda hasn't ported for NxS.
N7 will get 4.2 ''' the new 32 gb comes with it and comes out on nov 13 with no hardware changes...I predict 4.2 flash able by eob 14th

Nexus 7 JB 4.2 ROM
I am a rom developer for the Nexus 7 and as of right now am working on an experimental 4.2 ROM port the device. I downloaded the nexus 4 system dump earlier today and I am already making great progress to getting this ported. The only problems are: 1. The Quick settings status bar feature is not working. 2.Since im porting parts from a phone, it wont have the multi-user GUI that 4.2 for tablets is shipping stock with, but there is alternatives. I WILL UPLOAD THE FIRST VERSION OF 4.2 FOR THE NEXUS7 TONIGHT!!! (and if i dont, i'll have it up tomorrow). Reply to this if you would like to know more. And if you would like to try my 4.1.1 rom for the nex7 (with an incredible amount of 4.2 features) click this link and give it a try! It is similar to apple's air play. It is built into 4.2. It mirrors your display on TV with a miracast certified appliance such as netgear's ptv3000.

Why do you want to downgrade?

I knew I'd get a sensible answer eventually lol. Was just curious to see if some of the bugs we are facing on 4.2.1 were to dissapear with 4.1.2
I had a funny feeling it would be a lot of work involved. Oh well. Cheers
I've wondered this myself. I know xda is all about having the latest and greatest, but on my gnex 4.1.1/4.1.2 were absolutely perfect. it was super smooth, everything worked and there was no crazy battery drain issues. 4.2 seems rushed, hopefully they'll sort it out in the next update

The most pressing bugs are in the kernel so even if the ROM gets ported they will persist.
You can try flashing an old rom on the new kernel and see what happens.
Someone got Gingerbread with a Jelly Bean kernel running on his Nexus 7.
It's definitely possible, but will probably include some work.
