Important Check before it's to late! - Galaxy S III General

Hey,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. 4 weeks old and yesterday I discovered a problem that was not obvious. Under a black background in a dark place, I could see little dark black dots scattered over the screen. I once had the same problem with my iPad but in a different colour (white) and they gave me a new iPad right away So I just wanted to warn you guys to check for this problem, as one of my friends had this problem too!
Hope this helps!

Well I know OP was trying to be nice. But in the far distant future, they are going to integrate "forum etiquette" in the elementary internet classes.

Ridiculous that this is another new thread regarding this issue!!!!

yes, because people do not search before posting anything.. They find something and think "Oh I need to let everyone on XDA know about this" Go and create a thread without ever thinking "I wonder if anyone else has had the problem I have, maybe I should search before I create a new thread"
Like yesterday, a guy created a thread on jellybean source, 10 minutes later another person created another thread on Jelly Bean Source, not even seeing that just 3 threads down from his was the original JB thread... There is no excuse for that.
So not only are people not searching, but they arent even taking the time to look through the threads on the first page.. it's laziness, it clutters the forum for more useful posts.. And there is really no excuse for it.
When I experience a problem I know the first thing I do is search to see if anyone else is having that same problem. 90% of the time a search yields me what I need, if not THEN I create a thread, I dont create a thread without searching to see If there is an existing thread about the issue I'm having
OP your intentions are noble, but for the furture.. please search before you post. If you had you would of found the mega thread discussing this issue and would have learned more about the issue instead of just creating a thread..

is the fix for this using screen filter app?

Because this is a development thread. Where people develope programs and provide assistance on them. Its not the yellow pages. No one here works for you. We are not your secrateries. New threads like this clog up the forum and make it difficult for those of us who use search. Take some time to read the forum rules.
Here is the hint. Top of this page to the right is a "Search" button. Its just below your name. Use it to search the contents of your original subject line of this thread. If you can copy/paste the http address of your search result to prove to me you did your due dilegents, but still cant find your answer, I will help you learn how to use search properly so you don't continue to post new threads. But at this point I don't think you have used more than 2 minutes of your time searching on your own.

Wow, never before have I seen such "jerk" behavior at xda deverlopers. I know the person should have searched and I'm not discounting that fact, but there is NO reason to jump down someone's throat with that tone. Sorry, I'm a Japanese and I ever saw how much loathing and hatred went into your post. Next time, please do more courteous behavior... if not, I hate to think of how people will treat you.

The reason people tell you to search is because this site, like any other activity has rules. One of them is to READ and SEARCH to find the answers yourself before you post a question that has been answered in numerous other locations. While some people may be overly aggressive in their suggestion that you use the search function, it does not make their point any less valid. There are a lot of people on this site, and all of them are volunteers. Nobody gets paid to be here. When you decide that you're gonna clutter the forum with threads and posts that have already been answered very thoroughly in easily searchable locations then it just makes it more difficult for people who actually do know how to use the site properly to find anything. So in the future, if you have an interesting idea (which you did) then do some looking to see if maybe somebody else had that same idea and post your thoughts there. That way everyone who is interested in that idea can go to one place to follow any development that happens there. Otherwise you are basically saying to all the people who put a lot of time in here, that you think your time is more valuable than their's. Which puts us in this perpetual cycle of people who don't know anything complaining because the people who do know the answers want them to learn how to find the answers rather than just giving them the answer.

Search the entire forum. In fact google the interenet for the question I posted in that thread. It is no where to be found. And it was a development idea posted in a development thread after all that searching had been done. Your not comparing apples to apples. In fact there is no comparable comparison.
Anybody got an answer to that thread let me know b/c it still hasn't been solved!!!! LMFAO!!

I was less of a dip**** and it continued to happen. At least this is getting some attention that may make a noticable difference of noob's continuing down the same old path of ask questions first, search as a last result.
It would be great if the Moderators would put a sticky at the bottom of the sticky posts for this forum titled "How to Use Search before you post a New Thread" since noob's aren't even taking the time to read the forum rules. While their at it make the title of the sticky thread alway stay BOLD even if no new posts are made in it.
Hey Mods!!!! What do you think of that idea???
Curious G

Everybody knows this already. Don't read. It wont help anyone.

There were always a few occasions when I was playing with my vibrant and noticed my brightness would increase randomly. I just figured out after some investigation, that if you slide your finger ALONG the status bar, so left to right either way, it will adjust the screen brightness. Just a tip in case anyone wasn't aware. It's really not an obvious feature to discover so I figured it might help people.
Ha, what a strange feature.
Nice find!

Wasn't asking for more tips. Wasn't asking if there was a two line blurb saying this already. Posted to help out people that didn't pick up on this. I've seen a lot of complaints of brightness not being in the notification bar toggle. Compared to all the other things that are repeated over and over I don't see it necessary to tell me what's for "my own good". If you already knew, hit back and move on. If my thread was entitled "I want to learn new tricks and tips" it'd be appropriate. Besides from this one "tip" everything else in the sticky is stuff I was already aware of.

IF you/other people would read the stickies, or use the search function you/other people would have found what you were looking for. not to mention he responded with a link to the sticky that has loads of other very useful information that you may be trying to figure out, and that when you do figure out you will post a new thread for something that has already been covered in another thread that isn't that hard to find because it is stickied....

So it wastes time because my title is bad, yet you took more time from your life to post that? 2 people is still 2 people. I get more pleasure from people like you that think you're defending....I'm sorry what exactly are you defending right now? Anyone who knows how to use the forum can figure this out, yes. However anyone who has a life and doesn't read every word of every thread can find this easier. It's a feature that will be used daily. This thread will eventually go to the bottom just like all the other old thread. RELAX.

hey dude seriously though, one night i spent hours trying to search for something before i made a post. and it doesn't help that one must wait thirty seconds before searching again, and low and behold someone already posted a thread about it. the only thread in the whole forum i'm guessing, but yet i wasn't able to find it only because my words were not exactly that of the original thread. My point being is that this is a cool website where people go to help each other out. and the only thing i find more annoying than multiple threads resembling the same subjects, is the one person trolling around slapping links to other threads while being unnecessarily rude about it. if this is really all the better you can do to be polite in this forum then maybe you should switch to apple and continue to hold yourself above others and have it be accepted by the elitist peers you would gain. other than that do the world a favor and play nice. please.

I am new to android as I bought a Tab on release day in the u.s. In my 2 and half months of having the tab and being a member of xda I search the forums quite regularly and I have noticed something. This will make me sound like a real negative person, but I have noticed that the exact same questions get posted time and time again. I don't think a week can go by without someone asking how to get a full wallpaper or if the tab can get Netflix.
So I was wondering how many people do one of two options for forums...
A. When you have a question, do you just post it and wait a day to see if anyone answered it?
B. Or do you search the forums for your answer so you get your question answered in a few minutes of research?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Hummmm.... Search, Search, Search!!!!
But not to defend but, I'm going to bet their are alot of "Noobs" that really have no clue as to what they just got there hands on when buying something like a Tab or have ever even used a forum. I was a long time Mod on a site called MyTreo.net and remember when the Treo 600 came out... So may repost of just about everything from how to send MMS's to why does my battery keep running out. New technologies and new devices will always generate people who have never used a forum to get help. It's all part of the game brother.
I just always try and remember the everyone was a "Noob" at one point. I try to point them in the right direction and remind them to use the search function.

Yes, people don't search... but you have to understand that sometimes people don't know what to search for also, since they are new to a product. So they post the best they can their question/concern. After all this is a forum discussion, where people talk.
When I started to use these forums, I never found what I was looking for as answer.

It does make you sound like a negative person. I really don't mind the repeated questions; many users here are not native English speakers and that can make searching difficult. Another problem is that very few people know how to spell anything correctly, which also makes searching a problem. If the new thread is in the Q+A section, no big deal. Some of us are not power users but we'd like to help new folks when they arrive (just like some folks helped us when we were new).
On the other hand, what really does bother me is when someone creates a new thread complaining about 1) some perceived flaw in the galaxy tab or; 2) some irritation with other users. Even worse is when it's just a rhetorical and self-righteous "question" and is titled something useless and uninformative like "poll."

Sorry to offend you slack04. But if you hate people on this site who ridicule other users then why the attack on me? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?
I was just asking the community their thoughts on the issue. If you look at the forums you will see a wallpaper scaling post and if you scroll down the screen you will see 3 more of the same exact issue. No search is really required. It is just a matter of scrolling down a little bit. I know I have probably asked questions that have already been answered here, but after I searched for an answer. My question was meant as a more philosophical reasoning to searchering forums or just post question.
Hence the title poll. But I guess I could have titled the topic better.

Sorry to have taken up so much of your precious time and I promise to do my best not to help as much as possible again...

I guess "help" is a relative word then. Clogging up forums with topics that have already been posted time, and time again is not "help" as fast as most people are concerned.
When searching remember that there are more than one sub-forums for the A500 that you can search at the same time.

Meh, just blow it off. If you think this section is bad, be glad that you didn't post something in the Moto Atrix forum. It's even worse over there.
Seems like this site gets more and more full of users on one month old accounts with 1000 posts posting non-helpful replies. Who gives a **** if it was already posted? Why didn't you just stay out of the thread since you already knew this?
Letting it go...
yup...yes I am...No worries. If I didn't want to get verbally assaulted every once in a blue moon, I wouldn't post
...but on the off chance someone didn't see it and it could help...I'll take the chance Every Time...and even when I do know how to search and use search quite a lot, Every Once in a while search does not turn up the exact phrase or wording or whatever. Sooo...
ANYWAY...
Letting go while knowing that 99.9999 percent of the people here Really Do want to help...
At least I'm not asking about root for 3.2 right?

I've been following this forum fairly regularly since I got my tab in May and I had not seen it so it was useful for me. Thanks...

Says the forum spammer.
Give it a rest, please? The guy wanted to help, and he's been a member WAY longer than you. Post count is irrelevant.
