Wireless Charger (2 meters) - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

I will buy the wireless charger like many of you. I already use one with my Touchpad but I have to use the docking station.
Now I read that the wireless charger for our phone will be able to charge it from a 2 meters distance !
Anyone has more technical infos about this?
----
"The smartphone will not even need to touch the charger, as it can charge from a distance of 1-2 meters."

1 amp within 2 meters ? Even 1 meter would be amazing to me.
So much for my toothbrush and my Touchpad !

Take matters in your own hands. Here is my wireless charging.

I dont think you have seen it in action live because your idea of how it is used is off. There is no hunching over. You can also attach an 8 ft cable if you would like. I nevet have it as a dock. I always have my touchstones portable. Have to see and use to understand i guess

[Q] EF02 USB disconnecting/reconnecting when connected to computer

Anyone else having this issue? My phone is sitting on my desk at work, not moving, and on AnonymousROM i3 I keep seeing "USB Connected" and hear the chime that sounds when you connect.
Thanks
It's an issue with EF02, not your phone. It happens to me on the charger as well.

Ah okay. Any known fixes? Or just suck it up? I assume that it only affects in-OS connections, rather than download mode, right?

I'm about 99.8% sure it's not related to EF02. I have 5 or 6 USB cables and the really good ones work and the cheaper ones do exactly what you are describing. I have one that has gold connectors and cost me around $50 and have never had any random connect/disconnect issues on any ROM.

heh perfect, that's the first place I looked.
I can confirm this behavior on EF02. It happens on the charger, Car dock, and Media dock. It seems to happen more when streaming music or Navigation. Basically, the more stuff going on, the more frequent the disconnects/reconnects.
I had this happen on EE03 a couple of times; never on Froyo. Hasn't happened since going back to Froyo either. Weridness.
The question is, does this "disconnection bug" actually cause the phone t disconnect and fo example stop mass storage mode or download mode and disrupt it? Or is it just the notification acting weird?

not sure ive ever seen a gold USB... anyways, gold is only really useful if the other connector is gold, either way, the resistance difference is pretty minimal. Also, if you use them on say HDMI, or any A/V connection, make sure both sides are gold (male and female, say the back of your receiver and the cable connecting to it), dissimilar metals promote corrosion. They do have a small, but measurable benefit for resistance, but were mainly innovated as snake oil, at least for the consumer market. Not as bad as 'directional cabling'... lol... cause electrons flow better one way as opposed to another... gotta love the high end AV market... oh, and never buy monster.

How do you get your Android OS to be so low. My note is always around 25% to 30%. Do you think I have something running that's draining my battery? I do know that I'm not getting anywhere near the battery life you guys are saying you are getting.

he could have disabled all animations, force-closed processes, etc.
I have bluetooth running eight hours a day, streaming music for four to five of those to it, at least three to four hours of reading massive PDFs (textbooks), ppts, and word documents, WIFI on whenever available, etc.
I've gotten 10-13 hours without too many issues. The 10 was with a LOT of screen time, wifi or data running always, and bluetooth running always.
It also depends how you charge your battery. I make sure to fully charge my battery, and then run it into the GROUND (eg note powers off completely) before I plug it back in. Every time. You get maximum capacity that way, there's a name for this, but I can't remember what.
Anyway, battery 101. Kill processes, disable unneccesary services, use WIFI when you have it, disable everything you don't need, disable sync if you want/need to, disable gps, animations, and especially use minimal screentime. I don't see why the note wouldn't pull at least 36 hours if it was left in airplane mode the whole time.
Actually I was just watching movies and listening through bluetooth, thats why I don't have other processes eating my battery but I didn't do anything special..just straight 6 hours of watching movies using mobo player..
But I noticed that using mobile data to surf the net would drain my battery faster, so try to use wifi whenever available..
Everything about my setup is stock, only de-odexed to manually install my language..
Also noticed that when my phone left idleing, there will be Android OS drain in my battery usage, wigh "suspend" and "events0" showing in BetterBatteryStats but I still didn't figure out how to solve that..

Mmmm, my phone half caught fire.

Just went to charge my phone, saw that it wasn't charging. Tried a different cable, reset phone, etc and then I noticed a burning smell, I just thought it was someone cooking outside (its nice weather) until I held the phone next to my face and I could smell that electrical burning smell coming from the Micro USB.
Funny thing is, the phone works fine, but I cannot charge it.

Sent to the store today. The guy opened the box and that electrical smell filled the room. He believe the battery may have gone pop (which makes sense, sorta*) and that he'll send the whole unit away to (hopefully) get it fixed, and I should get it back in about a week (which means I am stuck with my Motorola Milestone D: ).
* I say sorta because the phone refused to charge but the battery life was perfectly fine meaning it didn't die quickly or anything like that so I am a little confused as to how it could be the battery yet the battery life was perfectly normal.

The port changed back to USB 2 - I know wtf, right? Apparently too many people complained about the usb 3 port not being compatible - HA. Guess people didn't know you could still use a micro usb 2.0 connector? It does however charge just as fast when using AC.

It's the tmo variant - bloat is unfortunately about the same as the Note 3 - T-Mobile vvm, my account, tv, name id, all the google apps, - literally all of them, facebook... no messenger, and that's about it.

They changed the usb cable to a normal one, no more thick cable with the strange
wide plug... Samsung added a quick chargiing method which can charge the phone
50% full in 30 minutes, meaning that if the battery is drained it can fully charge it
in about an hour.
I always hated the new wide usb plug for the usb cable, a few days after purchasing
the Note 3 I found out that the normal old usb cable with the mini usb plug could can
be used on Note 3, I know the wide plug and the thick cable were meant to be used with
USB 3.0 however I tested the time it took to copy a 2GB file using my computer's usb 3.0
and the note 3's special thick usb cable and found that there was virtually no difference in
copying the 2GB file, and there was no difference in charging time.
I seriously doubt that it will fully charge in an hour. It makes sense if you do the math but there has to be a catch.
Yes the 50% in a half hour is correct but it switches to trickle charging at some point and thus takes longer.
This I think is just the built-in fast charging of the snapdragon 805, same as other phones.

Have you tried using GPS while charging the phone? I am considering switching from LG G3 to Note 4 specifically because G3 overheats when using GPS and charging at the same time. I'd rather not spend a bunch of money if Note 4 does the same thing.

If you're talking about using it in your car, my S5 does heat up quite a bit. It doesn't shut down or anything, but with the screen on full brightness, GPS running and charging wirelessly, it heats up a LOT. Keep in mind this is in 95 degree weather with the AC never really touching the phone.

Yes in the car. And I understand that it will heat up. The problem is if it's heating up to the point of stopping charging, because on a long trip (just when you need the GPS most) you can't use this functionality. My use case is exactly as you described - So Cal weather, full brightness (because sun), wireless charging and GPS. I know that's pushing the envelope, but for the price, I expect it to be able to do it.

This should definately keep the phone cool, not sure how you're wireless charging is setup, but you can always cable charge and then a universal vent mount will keep it super cool.

Who's liking their fast charging?

Loving it! Kinda took me by surprise even though i knew i had it. Waited until my battery got to 1% then plugged this baby in, went to do something whick took 2-3 minutes. Now im already at 10% wow! I could see this as being super useful in rushed situations.
It came in handy this morning. Apparently I was so tired last night that I set my phone down on the wireless charging station (forgetting that I didn't have the wireless charging cover) and forgot to plug in it. At some point in the night my phone died, meaning my alarm didn't go off. Luckily my wife's goes off about 10 minutes after mine normally would. So, I plugged it up & was able to have a 50% charge before walking out the door to go to work this morning. That was a very pleasant experience with the quick charge feature.

I don't know. I set my phone down to charge and within 3 minutes I was at 100%. Then again, the battery was at 98% and my N4 doesn't support it.
P.S this is meant as a joke not a troll

P.P.S Defintitely not sure about it but you can be.
Greenpeace would complain because more power is used to charge quicker and for more power used, there is more power needed but for the extra power needed, coal power stations need more coal and to get the coal you dig it out of the ground. So in other words, the dinosaurs may be dead but they are dead pissed.

Some people on other forums said it would ruin their battery quicker. So not everyone is typically fond of the idea.
Does it have wireless charging out of the box?
I'm thinking of making the jump from my Note 2 to Note 4. I still don't know if it's worth the price.....

It doesn't come with it out the box, but you can always buy the back cover from Samsung.

Or this if you do not want a thicker back cover. I hear that the back cover is slightly thicker and may not fit some cases.

The biggest I see with this "Faster Charging" is that, this is the first phone I have ever owned that doesnt die on the charger.
What I mean by that is that, when I using the HotSpot Tether and playing games and multitasking all at the same time, my previous phones would either over heat and force the phone to cut off to cool down "LG G3" or the battery percent would get lower and lower while on the charger.
This has been my problem on every phone from the HTC M8 to S5 to M7 to Note 3 to Nexus 4/5 everyphone.
With this faster charging it charge fast and is able to keep up with my multi tasking demands while using the phone.
This may be a feature of the Snapdragon 805 being able to handle the work load better.
