T-Mobile USA has new Plans for - Bring Your Own Phone. Really Good Pricing - Xperia Play General

Just wanted to let everyone know that I guess as of July 1st, if you bring in your own compatible phone to T-Mobile you can get up to the following
For $70 a month:
Unlimited Talk/ Text
Up 5GB of Data (throttled above 5GB)
Direct Link:
http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans
As I am currently on Verizon, I plan on getting the AT&T 4G Xperia PLAY, after my contract expires in 4 months and will most likely switch to the above plan as it will save me about $30+ a month and I will get more data and text/Voice then currently. Can confirm that the HSPA+ frequencies between TMO and AT&T are the same
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: Here Althoug the above information is correct, this is the real PLAN I was talking about, my apologies a family member told me about this but sent me the wrong link. Here is the real deal.
My apologies the links i gave you were not for the real deals.
****Here is the link detailing everything. Good until Nov 13 2012****

t-mobile Value Plan $100 for 5 lines (2 unlimited talk/text/data 2GB at 4G, 3 lines 500 minutes each) via add a line $0 value, $5 classic, free nights&weekends, to other t-mobile
T-Mobile’s Back-To-School Promotion Begins July 1st
TMobile upcoming back-to-school promotion beginning July 1st offering promotional family plans with $5 Classic and $0 Value add-a-lines through November 13th, 2012. This promotional offering will offer savings of $5 per month, until January 2, 2014.
The promo offer is good for all Classic and Value plans that have shared limited buckets of minutes and the 500-minute AAL on unlimited family plans. Free nights and weekends, and other t-mobile.
Notes/Fine prints:•Good for both new and existing customers, and of course it requires a two-year contract. Existing customers will be required to change their existing rate plan and extend their contract on all lines to take advantage of this promo. A quick reminder that a contract extension for a rate plan change does not affect your upgrade date for a new phone
•No grandfathered features (no myfav, no tzone, no web2go, no ...etc).
•Tax+fees depending on your location, +12% in CA. Some military or corp -5% to -20% discount.
•You do NOT need to get all 5 lines, but current promo gives you 3rd, 4th and 5th discount until Jan 2, 2014. Pricing will not change if you only get less line. After Jan 2nd, 2014, you will have to pay $5 extra for each 3rd, 4th and 5th.
•Once you are on Value plan, current t-mobile policy will not allow you to get back to plan which offer subsidy in future. So once you are in value plan, you will always have to buy devices yourself.
http://www.tmonews.com/2012/06/t-...-july-1st/
Best deal on value plan. Corp, military discount can be applied.

.....
Give me some love...rep me if you find this a good deal
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Classic plan also have this promo benefit, but monthly will be slightly more, BUT YOU GET BETTER DISCOUNT on smartphone. Value plan customer needs to buy smartphone at "retail price". In my location, costco retail price on smartphone is cheaper than t-mobile retail store.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO GET THIS DEAL
A.If you are still in contract t-mobile customer, call t-mobile directly for the add-on promo. If you are interested in value plan, they will have to check if you qualify for value plan. Check migration fees below. For NEW customer, I would recommend going personally to costco or tmobile retail store. Update, just learn this myself on 7/5: You can get this online. Put the package into the cart first and then customize each line at checkout.
B. IF you are interested in value plan and planning to get a smartphone at costco, eg Samsung S3, do steps below:
1. First make sure you qualify: out of t-mobile contract or less than 6 months left on t-mobile contract or new t-mobile customer or currently value plan customer wanting add-a-line, AND (access to costco membership and data plan)
2. Goto local costco. Tell them that you wanted value plan and wanted smartphones as well, eg Samsung S3 ~$390 each. Do your transactions. New activation is free, not sure about existing add-a-line customer. Sim is free.
3. Go home, make sure everything works and happy. If you have corp/military/eduction discount..etct, then call t-mobile CS. They should be able to apply for you.
4. T-mobile retention may not help you as much because of value plan. They may lower down the phone price, BUT t-mobile retail smartphones are generally more expensive to start with, eg: Samsung S3 is $630 vs costco at $390.
C. You DO NOT need to goto costco to get the value plan and classic plan deal. You can get value plan or classic plan along with smartphone anywhere, eg: t-mobile store, amazon wireless, walmart, ...etc. Major differences is the pricing of the smartphone. Where and when (eg: black friday) you signup or extend your contract determines your smartphone "discount" price. You can always buy at independent market like google nexus at google play or ebay or craigslist or amazon store. Costco is only mentioned here because they have great smartphone price when u activate/signup there.
My experience shows that being nice to the salesperson or cs makes getting the deal easier, especially retention
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MIGRATION FEES for existing t-mobile customer still in contract and wanting to move to value plan. Depending on where you are in your contract, there maybe a migration fees going to value plan PER LINE. Official doc from t-mobile: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-3282. Use this if anyone tells you differently.
Months Completed on Contract, per t-mobile official doc 3282, lasts modified Mar 8, 2012 10:38 PM by tmo_ryanm

8-11 months completed $150
12-15 months completed $100
16-17 months completed $50

Terminology:

5 GB at high speed is "Premium" will throttle after you reach this limit, no overage
2 GB at high speed is "Plus" will throttle after you reach this limit, no overage
200 MB at high speed is "Simple" will OCCUR overage, 10 cents per MB

Hmm, Maybe ill put some use to this r800a motherboard I have after all

Can I ask though, is that for a 3 year contract? And... these above prices are way cheaper then what Verizon charges.... which is BS. I have 4 family members on a single plan, $250 for 4 phones with unlimited data...... talk about grabbing your ankles.

No its a telus pre paid package

Yes. Mobile packages in America suck. But there is price collusion between all the networks so we have no real choice.

That sounds quite expensive..
I'm sory to break into your USA topic, but i think that its quite a lot you are paying right now.
Due to my earlier years with t mobile Igot my G1 for free in combination with a single year contract:
200 minutes
unlimited text
unlimited internet
40 Euro's a month. That's about 54 USD.
How come it is that expensive over there, when other things are really [in comparison]?

You also have to remember that Deustche Telekom is one of the largest carriers in Europe and T-Mobile USA is the smallest of the carriers here.
You think this is expensive, you should see the other Providers (Verizon, Sprint[aside from the unlimited everything Plan] and At&t) T-Mobile has by far the best rates in the USA. The most expensive data plan for a PHONE is only $34.99, which is really only 19.99 for the internet because it is a bundle of Unlimited SMS/MMS at $14.99 and the internet at $19.99. At&t Data plans can up to $60 for PHONES not just there data stick/card. Also in general the rates plans are about $10 to $20 cheaper then the other providers. When I was with verizon for a 2 line 700 minute plan i was paying when it was all said and done $170 a month and i didn't even have the internet on either of my lines. It was ridiculous! It is a pretty good deal for us here in the States.
My Favs 600-49.99
Unlimited Data-35.00
Mobile to Mobile 6.99
Control Charge-5.99
Insurance-3.99
All about $114 after taxes for a single line
i got unlimited minutest with my fav 49.99
unlimited text message not picture for 9.99
g1 unlimited with 400 message 25.99
and 12 discount
after taxes $84
Loyalty Unlimited: 89.99
Extra Line of Unlimited: 39.99
Unlimited Family Text: 9.99
3 G1 Plans(Yes three): 24.99 x 3 = 74.97
----------------------------------------
Total: 214.94 - %10 Discount from Freelancers Union
----------------------------------------
Total: $193.45 or $64.48 per phone unlimited everything

Also, mine is for two phone lines.
I have the cheapest plan and it suits me great! One of the main reasons I could afford to switch to T-Mobile.
$30 voice plan (300 minutes; I don't call that often)
$25 data plan (400 messages, unlimited data)
$55/mo total before all the fees.
T-Mobile is definitely cheaper than all the other carriers available (at least Sprint and AT&T).
Unlimited EVERYTHING, one line: $105

How To Get The TMobile HD2 Cheaper...

I've been reading this forum for a while, (since my xv6700) and you all are very knowledgeable with these phones and getting the most usage out of them. My question is, since the US T-Mobile pricing has been announced for the HD2 $199/contract & $449/no contract. Which would be cheaper over the 2 years? Is there a special pricing plan that you can get if you brought the HD2 no commit, that would give you all the features, (unlimited talk and text) and maybe a cheaper data plan. I ask this because I heard of people having unlocked and no commit PDAs and getting a regular "dumb phone", (ex like a low-end cheap flip Samsung phone) data pricing, ($10 instead of the $30). I am a little confused about the Even More and Even More Plus plans being offered and if im paying full cost for a phone, I want to make sure my monthly bill justifies it over the course of 2 years.
So if you all could help, it would be highly appreciated.

hehe... here in latvia it costed me a 110% of monthly wage no contract + money for every "MB/SMS/Call second"
701 USD o_0 without contract
Let me break it down like this. Since you're buying the phone from T-Mobile you will be required to have a smartphone data plan(Their new plans all data whether dumbphone or smart cost the same they have to add the correct provisioning though) If you had an older T-Zones data you'd be grandfathered in for 5.99 and could use it on a smartphone I believe.
Anyways down to price
For the Even More Contract Plan Unlimited Talk+Text+Web
Up Front Costs:
$199 - Phone
$35 - Activation Fee
Any applicable tax
Monthly Costs:
$99 + Any applicable tax
Even More Plus Non-Contract With available EIP
Up Front Cost:
$22.50 - 1st Month Phone
$35 - Activation
Any applicable tax
Monthly Cost:
$79 + Any applicable tax
$22.50 for EIP purchase (427.50 over first 19 months 0% interest)
Even More Plus Non-Contract Without EIP
Up Front Cost:
$449 - Phone
$35 - Activation
Any applicable tax
Monthly Cost:
$79 + Any applicable tax
Total Up Front:
EM: $234 + Any applicable tax
EM+: $484 + Any applicable tax
EM+ w/ EIP: $57.50 + Any applicable tax
Total Cost of Ownership:
EM: $2610 + Any applicable tax
EM+: $2380 + Any applicable tax
EM+ w/ EIP: $2381 + Any applicable tax
So the best value would have to be the EM+ with the Equipment Installment plan if you qualify. Much lower up front cost than even the contract plan, and only 2 dollars a month more than the contract plan, plus after 19 months it drops to the regular 79 a month, where the contract plan doesn't
Hopefully that covers everything lol
Also if I wan't too clear on the data thing with smartphones and dumbphones, T-Mobile now checks the IMEI, and if the device trying to access the internet isn't provisioned it will bring you to a page to add the proper data package, so a dumbphone data plan no longer works on a smartphone, unless you have the grandfathered in T-Zones package.
Bloody hell you get shafted in the States!!!
In the UK, last week I got the following:
Phone upgrade £185 (12 Month Contract)
+ £25 per month for the following:
150 any time any network minutes per month
150 SMS messages per month
Unlimited Data (500MB fair usage)
+ just sold the old HD1 on ebay for £180 so phone effectively free!
Happy days!
idk about shafted...
thats 150 minutes, 150 sms and 500MB of data for almost 40USD a month, while the lowest EM+ plan is 59USD for 500 any time minutes, unlimited night and weekend, unlimited SMS, and unlimited Data(Throttled after 5GB)
I'll take my plans... oh yea and no contract with the EM+
Plus thats almost 300USD for the phone on contract, US version which has more ROM is 199 on contract and 450 no contract. or 60 up front 22.50 a month if you use the 0% interest EIP

Who is getting the T-Mobile USA HD2, at or around launch?

I am, because of the BOGO deal. So me and my mom can just port over with our 2 lines, and since we have 2 lines we are eligible to use the BOGO deal. And because of the cheaper prices, we are getting more for less. Although, I use around 400 min - 800 min, maybe I should go cheaper. Anny recommendations. My mom does need everything unlimited since she uses everything, like her talk time is around 4-6k min per month, and since she will have a data device again, she will use the data, and texting.
What we are getting with T-Mobile:
Cost per month: At or around $200
Line 1 - My Mom:
Unlimited Min - $59.99
Unlimited Data - $30.00
Unlimited Text - $10.00
Line 2 - Me:
Unlimited Min - $59.99
Unlimited Data - $30.00
Unlimited Text - $10.00
--
Our current plans On at&t:
Total per month: Around or above $250
Line 1 - My Mom:
Unlimited Min - $99.99
"Smartphone" Bundle(Data and text): $50
Line 2 - Me:
900 Min w/ standard rollover - $59.99
Unlimited Data - $30.00
Unlimited Text - $10.00
not me I may get it in may or on craigslist
March 24th, 2010.
10:00 A.M.
I'll be there.
@OP, have you looked into getting a family plan? Even More unlimited talk is only $99.99, compared to $119.98 for 2 individual plans. You'd still qualify for the BOGO deal for 2 lines. You can add on the unlimited family texting for $15, I believe, and then the data plan $30 each. So that should be only $145/month, if I did my math correctly.
As for your post, I will be there in line also
As for the BOGO, I will sell the free one :
BOGO
If you are looking at doing the bogo, you should do a family plan. It is cheaper to do the even more unlimited talk, text, and web family plan for $179.
To do the bogo both lines have to be on the same account so you should save the money and just go on a family plan.
And yes i will be ordering mine as soon as i can on the 24th (employees have to order online so i wont get it on the 24th).... I typed this on our store demo and the phone is awesome.

If you did Even More Family plan that would be 179.99 a month .
It seems better to me to go with the Even More Plus Families and pay the phone outright and less $$ every month 139.99 vs 179.99 plus a 2 Yr contract.
the $15 text option is per line, so for 2 lines it would be $100 for unl talk, plus $25 for family innkeeper messaging, plus $60 ($30/line) for web if you did it oone feature at a time = $185.
Just do the even more family talk, text, and web = unlimited talk, text, and web for $180
Sorry for such a basic question, but the $400 no contract price does not mean that it is unlocked, correct?
Can this one be unlocked to a SIM free device status as the European version?
If I do the 1000 min even more plan it will be around that price with taxes. Which I think I will because I don't use that much min. Plus I want to break off sooner or later. Being tied to a family plan contract wont let me break off easily. This will allow me to transfer my line with the contract I signed up for, with out messing with my moms contract.
This will be around the 1 year mark of the contract, if I can get a steady job with in a few months lol.
enjoy tmobile! I went to my shop today and they were really nice. They let me see an exact replica of the phone and it's beautiful. It's actually rubber and metal on the back!

That price is presented for people who aren't eligible for the 200 price, so they offer a no contract retail option, thus the high price. You can still buy it like that, but you will have to unlock it using 3rd party solution.
I'll drop by my local store on Wednesday to try it out. I'll buy it as long as it feels good in my hand. That's the only thing I can't tell based on all the video reviews I've watched.
My local store said that there hasn't been much interest and most people don't know about it.

Thanks for the answer, but really, $400 seems like a bargain compared to what I paid for my HD2!
i got it yesterday at walmart.
since when is the retail price 400? its 450 at tmo stores but at walmart its 500 but i got for 450 cause of employee discount due to my friend working there.
they can sell it retail but not for contract price yet
What do you have to say to get the bogo offer?

T-Mobile Value Plans

So I just got off the phone with customer service to try to change my plan from current Even More Plus for two lines with unlimited talk and text and 2gigs data per phone per month for $133.23, to the new Value plan that has unlimited talk and text and 2gigs data per phone for two lines for $99.98 per month.
Here's the catch for existing customers:
1. If you are currently in a contract, there is a $200 migration fee per line to get the new plan. That's $400 in my case.
2. Any line currently eligible for upgrade is no longer eligible, and you will pay full retail for any new phone in the future.
I decided to stick with my existing plan and pay the extra $30 per month and retain my eligibility for upgrades.
TL;DR - The new value plans are the equivalent to off contract pricing, with no eligibility for upgrades, but with a contract and migration fees.
That's what I was afraid of. I would in the long run make back the migration fee but I have three lines and six hundred is too much right now.

[Q] T-Mobile, Cancellation of flexpay, Confused to no end :(

I'm confused to no end...
I got a message from t-mobile, saying that my flexpay with 500 minutes and 5GB data plan, for which I pay $60 in total, will expire (actual message below). I have an unlocked Nexus One (and a single line) that I don't want to change; I use like 80-100 minutes, 2-3 text messages, and about 5GB of data with it in a month...
Can someone help me?
I don't understand whether I can stay with Flexpay or whether it will actually expire for good (and take the $50 I have $50 my flexaccount too --they're used when you overuse minutes).
Customer reps on 611 refuse to send me any documentation, don't tell me whether my plan will actually get cancelled or not, and pretty much act like they don't know anything and are reading from a script written for existing flexpay customers. (I'll be going to a store, but I don't trust them either. Me being a foreigner doesn't help...)
I'm looking at the options they provide (their plans online), and if I keep my 5GB data plan, everything that they have is more expensive... As in: their $50 "postpaid" plan includes 100MB or so data before getting throttled...
Could anyone suggest what I should do to keep a plan that costs $60 or less without sacrificing my $50 on that stupid flexaccount[1]?
[1] The $50 is leftover from having a long-distance (as in cross-pacific) relationship... Don't do it

Same problem - Cancellation of T-mobile Flexpay plan
Even I got a call few days ago and recently got a SMS stating that Flexpay plan will expire. Not sure if I can still continue? I dont want to be bound by 24 month contract. Either I might switch to pay as you go plan or switch to another provider.
Let me know if there any updates or work around here!!
Thanks!
AFAIK all flexpay plans WILL expire and you have some options....
1) Enter into a contract and go with the VALUE plans (cheaper monthly charges, NO SUBSIDIZED DEVICES)
2) Enter into a contract and get a regular postpaid plan (higher monthly charges, DEVICES AT SUBSIDIZED PRICES)
3) Pay as you go prepaid plans including a monthly option (I think...kinda like flex-pay)

I just got on a contract for a Value plan with two lines and it's quite possibly the most awesome thing ever.
I get:
1000 shared minutes
unlimited SMS
2GB of data per line
... for $95 + tax/fees/etc, per month. For two lines.
I had to buy the phones outright, sure, but the overall savings is significantly greater than had I gone on a "standard" contract with the device subsidy. Two lines on a standard contract, same 1000 shared minutes and SMS and data, would have cost $35 more per month (+ tax/fees/etc).
Before I was on an individual Even More Plus plan (which has been phased out, just like Flexpay) and paid $70 + tax every month, and my partner was on a Flexpay plan and paid $75 + tax every month. Of course, those plans had 5GB data, but we weren't actually using the 5GB--the 2GB option hadn't been created yet, and even when it was first formed, it wasn't any cheaper.
Now, seriously, we're getting cell service almost as cheap as a regional carrier with better devices and better service.
