$150 for a Tf101 good at this point? - Eee Pad Transformer General

I broke my tablet and I was on Craigslist and I found this model in really good condition for $150, was it a good buy?

Thanks I'm glad I got it then, I read the reviews but since they were over a year old I wasn't sure, but for 150 it seems pretty good

You have a very good deal, man. Here in Toronto, most people are still selling a 32GB model for $300-$350!

Same here!

For all the aggrivation and problems ive had with the tf101, $150 is too much. I'd spend three times that amount to get a working device.

I was about to say the same, I would even hesitate if someone offered to pay me $150 to take another one, seriously.

LOL. Yeah, it's like giving someone a curse. Such a shame too. Asus could have made this situation a lot better.

My Transformer was rock solid till I got greedy and wanted ICS on it. ICS on Transformer has been a nightmare.
That said I love this tablet when it works, it get's used and abused every day.
Just ordered a Nexus 7 yesterday though, gonna see how the 7 inch form factor works out for me. Still Asus made, so I have fingers crossed.
O.

Yep, I feel like ASUS owe me and everyone else with the problems, some sort of partial refund at least. It's not like a laptop where you could install a different OS until they sort their stuff out.
Because of asus' incompetency, it has now been useless longer than it has been stable, imo that is not acceptable and if I could be bothered I would fight for a full refund and be done with them.
Since ICS, the tablet has sat unused the majority of the time because of the sheer number of bugs making it a chore to use rather than an enjoyment.
And what irritates me is all the feedback on the problems people on their FB page give, and asus completely ignore it and post childish "Happy Friday" etc comments as if they are some silly little school girl talking to her little friends
Company has gone from top 3 to never again for me

Is this problem only on the Tf101 with ics or on all the other ones as well?

I'm completely stock, and un-rooted. I have zero issues, and I use my tablet all day long. I also have about 100 apps installed. I had some minor issues on the initial ICS release, but they are long gone. If I had a fraction of the issues being reported, I'd have "eBayed" my TF a long time ago, or installed a custom ROM.

Stock, not rooted. Many hardware and software issues.

Great for me
hy there,
firstly in my country the transformer 16gb wifi still sels for about 300 usd - used not in a store. at the price you got it... i would buy another.
about problems.... mine is rooted and using revolution hd rom. no issues with it and it is used daily.
also i have the dock and it helps me with the transition from my laptop.

Megatron 1.1.6, Guevor Test kernel, dual booting Ubuntu (loopmounted) and I can say I've had zero problems since Guevor Test 15 or so, its a wonderful device if you get off the stock train. I'm currently selling mine on ebay for $360 with the dock, but only because I really need the money.

Just ordered G2X online!

How is the g2x compared to my old vibrant?
Faster, but yet not bug free! I got mine at the store! Returning my first one tomorrow, having data issues!
Nothing new to me, went through 3 Vibrants before I found a good one! So here I go again!
It's got pros and cons, but overall I like it!
Can't wait to start flashing Roms on it!

crap... i ordered mine not from tmobile.. if i have to return mine to get a good one it's going to take forever And i was hearing mixed review on the LCD vs SAMOLED.. some say it's better some say it's not..
The vibrant has a better screen, but just slightly. The vibrant does blacks better, but it's really a close call. It's not enough to make a difference.

I had data issues with my vibrant after I got it, it was tmo and they came out and fixed the tower. I think you might be jumping the gun on returning it but hey keep returning it tell its right.
Heard it a few people have been having reboot issues and light bleed. But the one I looked at, in the tmobile store didn't have any light bleed issues. Not sure about the reboot issue people have been claiming to have.

Thanks, but it was recommended by Tmo technical support! I wouldn't return it if I didn't have to or without trouble shooting it first!
It's a hassle, but worth it at the end to get a proper working device!
This is the reason I've never ordered online, because if I have a problem I can always exchange it right away rather then wait for Ups!
I'd probably pick one up if I was eligible for an upgrade.
I've heard of data issues, battery drain issues, screen problems, rebooting and high temperature problems. It seems to be getting updates quick... source is already released with tweets about gingerbread within the month. Even if it isn't a giant killer of a phone, its still great.

It's a Samsung phone. Even if you regret it when it's released, you will stop regretting when the sgs2 users are stuck with whatever version it ships with and updates (if it gets any) will be months after the next Android release. The g2x, being stock, will get updates much faster and with the source code already released will have a great dev community.
I'm finally happy with the Vibrant running Bionix, but this is definitely my last Samsung phone.

I was gonna go pick up a G2X this morning when I get off work but I've been reading in their section that there seems to be a horrid battery drain issue with a lot of users and the source of the problem has yet to be determined. I got my Vibrant while it still had a battery drain issue but fortunately it was fixed shortly after me getting the phone... Wont be putting myself through that hell again so until the phones software matures more I have no problem getting on with my Vibrant.
G2x looks good but im waiting on the SGS 2 just seems like a better phone for the money.
I'm lucky enough to have a buddy that works for T-Mo. He's going to give me a G2X this coming Sunday. At least this way if it sucks I can always just slide my sim card back into the good old Vibrant. From what I've read it's pretty much stock android like the Nexus S so the upgrades and rom development should be pretty rapid.

Shipped my TF101 for RMA today. I miss it already.

I figured you guys would appreciate how I feel. I feel sad. No tablet to play with. It is amazing how quickly I grew dependent on it. Now I have no tablet. My wife thinks its ridiculous to feel sad over sending a tablet in for RMA service.
But I never left the house with it. Or went to work without it. Etc.
It sucks...And I am sure Asus will take their time. So I figure with Xmas and new years, I wont see it till next month.

Acer A100 for $129

I am not sure what the Van Gohg label means but one sale a day has refurbished Iconia A100s for $129. It looks like there is a fairly stable CM10 release for it. I can't justify another device but they are almost cheap enough to get one just to mess around.

To anyone thinking about getting this tablet, I can tell you first hand, its really great. Its not "cheap", like a tablet you can find at Big Lots. Its worth the $130! It has official ICS too! Great little tablet.

I would honestly suggest a soft gel/rubber case.. Hard cases ruined my hox, too much pressure to get them on, ended up breaking some ribbon on the board, so the screen won't turn on unless the housing is partially removed.. Which is how I have to use this phone until I fix it or order a nexus 4 if its not fixable for free/really cheap.
The only thing I'm losing is LTE. Which I don't use/rarely use as it is
You should if you can get it for $350 at Play Store. I'm happy with it, very good price for a good phone. If you can live with no LTE, non removable battery, no external SD card, somewhat low/tinny speaker output volume and just average camera quality you'll be happy with it.
I would buy it again. The price is unbeatable. If you can live with the lack of OTG (Which may be fixed eventually) and camera quality then you'll love it. I think the washed out colours thing is due to peoples love for very saturated screens. As I said in another thread, take a photo of something, look at it on the screen, if it's brightly covered in bloom, then it's over saturated. Just because the Nexus 4 is less saturated doesn't mean it's washed out.
All right just ordered it from Google. Can't wait! 388.00 total but that's cheap compared to the other ones I've had bought. Not to worried about the camera I have a camera for that. I'm still not sure on what case but thinking gel case something that won't scratch it n can clean up n not bulky. I don't know what plan to go with being in northern Mn there's not too many options.

im coming from a Galaxy note and Nexus 4 and ive been using less and less of those devices lately. i say go for it!
thanks for your answer!

Until OppO get their Find 5 ROM sorted I would put my money elsewhere. Having to reboot 4-5 times a day due to various instabilities. It doesnt like using other chargers, data connection is shoddy. OppO inform that they will release stable ROMs every 2-3 months. I can't use my phone for 2-3 months like this.
For another 100 bucks I could have got a Sony Xperia Z however I'm now stuck with a under performing 500 dollar phone. It would have been easier to throw it in the river if it was 200-300 dollars.
Hardware good.

From everything I have read they have a few bugs, but they are working on them. This is why they update bi weekly. I have a couple friends with this phone that love it. They moved from the note 2 to the oppo...which is what I'm doing next week.
All the positive reviews outweigh the negative ones about this device. Plus, the dev community is making the phone even better. I hear GREAT THINGS about CM on this device.
Sent from The Bacon Pope's Galaxy Note 2
The oppo is a great phone. Specs are great as well as build quality. Yes....the software needs some work, but they're constantly pushing out updates and firefly is hopefully right around the corner. That being said, I'm running CM right now and the phone is butter....no issues whatsoever and even though I still have my Note 2, this has become my daily driver. I'm really happy with my purchase
the bad thing is that noone of my friends has this phone and that you can only buy it from the official homepage.. i would really like to test it somehow..
could you guys tell me how the mobile data connection is? i am really scared of the steal structure :/
if only the software is bad (and only at the moment) but the hardware is powerfull, i dont really care. software can be fixed

I think Oppo is very great phone. And specification hardware is high end but not very expensive. You must try it to use from you friend which using this Oppo Find 5. And you can find the different from other phone.
And you right about software. As long as the developer want make great phone, they must repair the software and also make something different application to support the phone

The Find 5 is a nice phone. I came from the Xperia T, which I loved as well. You're really okay with either, since they are both very development friendly.
If you do pick the find, expect to use 3rd party apps for some things, the stock ROM is a bit green on functionality. If you like CM, it runs well on the Find for sure.
If you are impatient and can't stand some minor bugs, then go for the Sony (which probably has its own bugs).
I am a heavy business user, and have had a few issues, but nothing that ruins the experience. The camera is bad all around ATM, but I don't use that much.
