[NEED] Testers for SGS3 'Snapdragon version' ToolKit - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

Ok so I have finally finished the Snapdragon version of the SGS3 ToolKit but as I dont own this version phone I NEED some testers for each carrier before I can release it to make sure adb root and other functions work fine.
I am going to release this as a seperate version to the International S3 ToolKit mainly so you Snapdragon users get your own special love
I need at least 1 tester for each supported carrier for the initial version:
[TESTED] AT&T
[TESTED] SPRINT
[TESTED] TMOBILE
I will also be adding VERIZON as soon as its released and also the Canadian carriers and Japanese version as soon as I can get the firmware for them.
REQUIREMENTS
The first stage is to confirm all the insecure kernels boot and give adb root access so I need people who know how to flash tar files via Odin and also know how to use adb to test some basic commands and make sure adb doesnt crash.
If you are on one of the above carriers that are needed and have at least some basic knowledge to know if the insecure kernel flash has worked then please post in here and I will send you your kernel to flash right away. As soon as I know the kernels work then I can send the finished ToolKit for testing.
If everything works ok then the ToolKit will be released on Monday or Tuesday (I am booking all tomorrow to dedicate to finishing this).
Lets get this done quickly
Mark.

I'll test for ATT. Have Odin and SDK toolkit installed and did a logcat just a little while ago.
Just send me a PM or something with the link and what you need done.

i gotcha on the t mobile side mskip! i think i was the very first person to flash the international gsm boot img, lol. so i think it's only fitting i assist in this.

Got it first try.
Can i post links to what i did?

I am willing to help as soon as I get my phone from US Cellular about mid month

ToolKit is released now. Thank you to everyone who offered to help and who tested the rooted kernels for me

Calls for Devs, Euroxoom?

Guys, Euroxooms are becoming expensive paperweights pretty quickly.
The boot image is what is bricking the devices as its not compatible when Root is being done.
Obviously we take the risks when we root, but im slightly PO with it Just kidding, i have faith in XDa and i hope to donate soon for such a worthy cause.
My question I pose to the devs is the following, Can someone source out a boot.img to recover back to Stock, for the Mz601 model? (3g / wifi Euro variant)
I see all the recovery and root for the Verizoom, but nothing for our Europe brothers here
Has there or is there, any work being done on recovering bricked devices?
A shot into the dark here .... have you attempted flashing the US system image?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
I rooted my UK Xoom without problems but when I tried one of the BigDX Xoom themes I got loads of Force Closures.
I had no option but to flash the boot.img and system.img files taken from the Canadian (MZ604)
At least this recovered my Xoom to a working version and now works fine now running a rooted Xoom with the latest Tiamat Xoom 1.4.0 kernel.
I have now made a Nandroid backup using ClockworkMod Recovery should I have problems in the future.
Hopefully, someone will pull the recovery.img, boot.img and system.imf files from the UK Xoom???
Cheers
Ody
WAIT
Guys be patient, I have a stock system and boot image for us, we just need to get a recovery, DO NOT ROOT using the methods here, I will post a rooted boot for euro as soon as I can get it tested.
I have asked the people posting the root instructions to mention that it should not be used on the euro xoom's but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

I'm just re-iterating for everyone else who wasn't there
may i suggest that the Devs sticky this for the benefit of the European Xoom.
I bricked mine, bought in york, took to Portsmouth CPW and they replaced it there and then, you might not be so lucky, but i think we need to be careful with bricking it lol ,
On a lighter note, how do we dump our roms with boot, system image files, for the benefit of all those who want to unbrick their uk / euroxooms?
How did you brick your Xoom? You did'nt try and relock it? As I said no problems rooting my Xoom from PCWorld? PUP!!!!
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
yep i did lock it and put a buggered boot.img on there
any update on the Euroxoomroot? xd
Id like to crack it open without having to worry about the bloody thing of bricking it again haha

That'll explain it! I may be wrong but to re-lock it, you would need to flash UK image files (boot.img, recovery.img and system.img). I'll leave my UK Xoom unlocked and rooted until Motorola release a proper recovery flash file?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
haha, yeah might be a good idea, you have a DHD too? XD, what you running on it ?
im currently on CM 7.0.2 xd , nice phone :_),
How did you get your root on your tab? i am desperate to root it as TitBAckup is a necessity xd plus i want to experiment, do you think its worth waiting till the files for the Eurotab are released?
When i try to boot my tab after the one click root, it was at that point it was bricked, i didnt try to lock it until after ,
weirdly enough though, i could still use fastboot after to do one click root, etc, and lock and unlock and install CWM,
Yep DHD running HDMix Gingerbread! To be honest I don't think you bricked your xoom if you can still get Fastboot? I don't know why one click root didn't work for you but did for me? That said Titanium isn't working for me with the latest Tiamat 1.4.0 kernel.
Also just to say my UK Xoom is WiFi only (not 3g) might explain why I could root mine?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
yeah if you have a wifi only xxom, thatll explain why you have bee able to use the 604 canadian images.
Quick question for you EU zone Xoom wifi owners... on the back of your device where the CE mark is, does it also list an FCC ID? If so what is it?
yes it does, erm, it would vary with the wifi model obviously, ill have alook abd get back to you

I really should have asked if there was a TUV registration number and FCC ID. (CE mark is a certificate of self conformance).
What I was trying to determine is if the hardware between the euro spec wifi xoom and the us spec wifi xoom are the same. If they are then both units could share the same fcc id. In theory the wifi Xoom could hold both a TUV ID, and FCC ID since there is in theory no need to make engineering changes between the units to meet compliance regulations, and because of the costs involved most companies tend not to make engineering changes if they do not need to.
The 3G units will obviously have variations because of the different Rx/Tx frequencies for the various cellular carriers, but
My WiFi FCC ID Number is IHDT56MT1

Verizon P905V Note Pro12.2 LTE Root & Recovery Bounty

I'm willing to donate for the purposes of obtaining root for the Verizon Note Pro12.2 LTE model P905V. When I try to ask normally it's on with other versions and the thread gets confused for my purposes.
Has anyone achieved root on p905v?
If not, what files can I provide from my unrooted P905V? How can I extract them?
Has anyone managed to make a custom Recovery or port one for the p905v?
Thanks in adavance

Put me down for $25, I definitely need root asap!
Make it $50.
Root sm-p905V please
I'm completely new to this and unsure about how donation works. Just got my first android device as this sm-p905V.
Likely one of the best pieces of technology I ever purchased. Was very excited about getting perfect-dark for n64 with 2 controllers, but turns out i need root access to get the ps3 cotrollers to bluetooth to the thing.
I just heard about rooting for the first time yesterday while trying to get these controllers working. Sounds like it is alot more exciting than just playing some old school nintendo.=D
I look forward to getting root access and really exploring the usefulness of this device.
They've just posted the first 4.4.2 Rooted Rom for the Verizon Note 3, so I wonder if that will help our devices, which has pretty much the same chipset in it?
We're up to about $200 for the bounty (as far as I have counted). Let's do this!!! (pretty) Please!!!

Help
Someone get discovered now came out a root for SM-P905V Verizon!?
Has anyone been able to get the system.img or recovery.img for the P905V? I looked around all day yesterday and couldn't extract from my tablet because of lack of su and sammobile.com doesn't have the system.img either. I don't think chainfire will be able to root our tablets until we get a copy of the system.img and extract the recovery for him.

I know this is for the Note3 and the S5, but I wonder if this is something that could be built on for the N12.2 since they have the same OS, especially the Note3 (Snapdragon Variant) http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...ve-and-maybe-almost-any-other-current-device/

since this site the best with cellphones problem solving I'm askin for some help :/

I'm dealing with this same issue right now. Bought an SM-S975L for straight talk last night and I want to use it on Metro PCS. Metro says all is well on their end and I just have to wait, but all I see is "Invalid Sim" on the status bar. How did you unlock the SM-S975L? There's very limited information around the internet about this model. I'm tearing my hair out and the wifey is driving around without a phone. Figured you (or anybody else) could point me in the right direction.

LOL, the $249 deal was hard to pass up. I got a couple of them, one for me and one for the misses. She'll be fine with the 4.3 that is on the phone out of the box, but I wanted to convert mine to be like the I9505G (GPE). I was thinking it would be simple as I've heard all of the LTE models were like the I9505 and they seem fairly broken into. But I think this is more like the SGH-I337 and maybe boot loader locked, but looking into ways to test that. I did root it already using towelroot. Installed SuperSU and Titanium Backup and root is working, now so see if I can get CMW and a GPE rom on it. If I find a way I'll be sure it is mentioned here as a working method for the SM-S975L. I'm not using it yet as I have my GT-I9500 that I'm using, but seeing better support for the qualcomm for custom roms I decided to get it. The I9500 should get Android 5.0 official rom first though.
For what it's worth, I just picked up this phone from the Black Friday sale, and I would *really* like to put a custom ROM on it. I won't even pretend to be proficient in this. How difficult would it be to convert the custom ROMs on other models of Galaxy S4's to this one?
I am unsure my self the closest variant is the att s4. Both the att one and this one is bootloader locked. Since we have 4.3 version of Android safestrap would be likely what to use. I am afraid of this my self so I have not attempted it

It is the SM-S975L with a T-Mobile ROM and the custom kernel. The SGH-I337 ROM does not work, it erases the system partition every flash.
Awesome work aromerblz. Anything special you had to do to load the ROM with the S975 baseband...or any issues you're experiencing? Will be testing this out later in the week when I get some free time.

That is cool, at the very least its Kit Kat. I still would like to find a method to convert completely to GT-I9505G. Just no time. I'm hoping with jtag access it can be completely reconfigured, then just make sure the IMEI is set to that the device should be. Ideally the only way to see it was a SM-S975L would be to look under the battery. I don't really care about removing the SIM lock though, I plan to stick with my ST SIM. I did get a new BYOD SIM and it is showing 4G now (Not sure if it should indicate LTE like old ATT S3 does) as my old BYOD SIM would not and ST support said that I could not move the included SIM to any other device as it would be bound to the S975L.
I would love to get off the Tracfone ROM. I'm going to assume that Samsung/Tracfone will never upgrade this phone beyond Android 4.3. The last native update was in February of this year, and it was just a minor patch. I'm not too concerned about unlocking, but being able to use a different ROM seems to be a step in the right direction. If anyone could post a tutorial or what ROMs they used, that would be extremely helpful. I've looked everywhere and this info is not available anywhere.
For what it's worth, someone over on GSM Forums has claimed to have flashed the AT&T ROM too. They also were unable to unlock it, however. Unfortunately, I can't post the direct link until I have hit 10 posts That poster has been inactive for two months, and before that, he was inactive for three years. It may be hard to get in touch with him..

I first flashed a T-Mobile TWRP recovery v27.1, but the latest v28 works fine. After that i downloaded the TMB firmware NB4 from sammobile.com created a custom rom with the android kitchen. After that the usual flashing of the rom via TWRP. Without a custom kernel the phone does not boot up. So i used the ktoonsez kernel. Once booted i rooted with towelroot and pjone has been working fine. Only things to know is that when booting up it says "Kernel is not SeAndroid"
"Set Warranty Bit: Kernel"
As that specifies it trips the knox flag. Which i dont care if it does as am not in the USA.
You used the TWRP for jfltetmo, correct? Did you use Odin to flash it?
Also, this might seem obvious, but even if I do this, it'll still work/remain locked to ST/AT&T, correct?

Yeah TWRP for jfltetmo. The jflteatt does not seem to work at all on this model. I flashed with odin, no need to use safestrap on this phone as i think the bootloader is not locked like the one found on the SGH-I337, although its the identical variant.
Yes the phone remains locked to ST/AT&T. A friend of mines was able to get the unlock cod for this phone but even with the unlock code its not a permanent lock. Reason is because you can unlock and be able to use all the features available to the phone but once restarted it asks for the code again. Not sure why it does that, I believe the radio has to be the culprit for that here. Not sure how TracFone will handle the unlocks for this phone after 01/01/15. does the same even on full stock TF firmware.

[Q] Fastboot, bootloader, root, simunlock (305SH - Aquos Crystal Sharp phone)

Hello,
I ordered this great Crystal phone form Japan, and , of course, it is locked. It is a beautiful item but not useful locked..
I don't arrive to root it (try a lot of Tools for 4.4.2), neither reboot it in bootloader mode (?), neither use fastboot (waiting devices)...etc.. and neither unlock ! (just recovery mode ("+" & Power On) with only a small menu Erase/Cancel)
My knowledge is poor about these subjects, I'm a "small" developer ..
Someone can help me/us ?
Thank you
I want to order it too.. but I din't find any clue about how to unlock it. So any help will be apreciated.
I need root so bad for the Wi-Fi tether hopefully we get it soon for this amazing phone.

Doubt if a US Version (306SH) can be used on a Japanese handset (305SH) and vice versa. The US one is CDMA while the Japanese one is GSM, usually this means the radio file will be incompatible.
Would be awesome if someone could manage to unlock the 305SH, but it won't be an easy task. Looking forward to it though. At the mean time, I am comfortable using it as an Android counterpart of iPod Touch
J Williams on YouTube confirmed boost mobile version to be semi unlocked he tested with T-Mobile Sim ..incoming calls and text had to be routed through google voice but outgoing calls text and data worked fine

J. Williams is misinforming you guys. Inserting the tmobile sim card doesn't do anything(i've already tried it).. the phone was still using the CDMA of boost! .. i hope someone can unlock this.. this is such a beautiful phone in person!..

I was thinking that since there's a sim card slot we could modify the build.prop (as the link above suggests) for the cdma variants to convert the phone to gsm? I really want this phone, but I'm on At&t with the Oneplus One and I really don't want to pay for two different services
Has any of you guys tried all standard rooting tools?

Is there anyway to flash docomo rom on this one?(vice-versa)
This thing has snapdragon 400, which definetally has gsm bands, we just need to get to them,
i'm 100% confident we can get it to work with all the carriers, IF it can be rooted.

Yes, I have tried a lot of tools: nothing.
Give me a list of tools, I can check and try what you want.

A request for 7.0, Verizon owners, you may be able to help. :)

If by any chance someone gets a hold of the 7.0 beta on their device and can dump the rom using ADB it would be highly appreciated.
There is already work on the 930/935U rom for 6.0 which seems to be what most want to load on their phones for the ability to use root and other functionality. Being able to acquire this 7.0 rom means that we as a community can start working on getting to work on the 7.0 rom ahead of schedule. Allowing not only 935U roms to get loaded with 7.0 but allowing other unlocked devices the same ability.
If anyone gets a chance to grab the OTA download link or is able to pull the rom using ADB or Kitchen, it would be quit appreciated.

Thanks Andre! Hopefully someone will be kind enough to put the file up somewhere. Verizon S7 and S7E owners have a really good shot at getting this out to everyone as the flexibility seems to be there regarding root and flashing different roms on to the device, like the 935U rom for example.
Porting this into a 935U rom would be straight forward. Allowing everyone some of the benefits gained with the unlocked rom and the joy of using 7.0.
I'm actually considering flashing back to a V rom to be able to flash this when it's leaked. I will definitely miss my non-branded experience, but it doesn't look like Samsung is giving Unlocked/U FW users any love at all.

A nice guy on the sprint forum was able to get the update zip file! Credit due where credit is deserved @billydroid . Awesome work!

Verizon should be getting nougat ota today. Just grab the ota like I did. It's in /data/fota/update.zip.
If you're rooted just use adb pull from that location and it will grab the zip.

Have fun, I myself have to wait until Monday. Unless someone could make this function on tmobile devices and others.

Do the above and we could have Verizon S7E Nougat beta soon. Go go go!
All it would take is a simple ADB pull. If anyone needs instructions and is willing to help, it would be greatly appreciated by the S7E Sd820 community.
Would this allow for an unlocked version of the 7.0 beta without all the bloat??
it would allow for a rooted beta with bloat removed for all snapdragon variants.

If you will send me a message as to how to I will
should be able to install the old bootloader that gave you root, if that go's than adb pull it. Should be able to root it the same way as MM

But won't it be the same engineer bootloader that's still sort of laggy?
you can flash back after you dump the images so the community can benefit. but this will be the last time i ask. i can make roms for carrier variants, but if you all in tmobile sprint att and verizon cant do simple things to help out everyone than i will leave you all stock, rootless and bloated, and focus only on the unlocked bootloader variants.
I'm currently flashing 7.0 through ODIN as found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/galaxy-beta-t3497046
Can I dump the image from there? Is that of any use?
Edit: Actually, I think that's exactly what you're looking for already in the first post.
Now we can only hope a new vulnrability is found in the betas.
If after two years it was finally found in the Note 4 then its always possible.

It won't root. When the old bootloader is flashed the phone bootloops. They are not compatible.
Thank you , I can get a hold of the ch aka unlocked firmware since yesterday. I will work on that.
I know you probably have enough help but if you need mine just pm or reply

Regards
Sos
