[Q] Any clue what the Nexus 7 device name is? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Nexus One was Passion.
Nexus S was Crespo.
Moto Xoom was Stingray/Wingray.
Galaxy Nexus is Magura/Toro(plus).
Any clues or thoughts?

It's another fish...
$ adb shell getprop ro.product.name
nakasi
$ adb shell getprop ro.product.board
grouper
The "code name" (lunch combo in cm) will be grouper.
Thanks to arcee for the above. He actually went to IO and has a device.
Also confirmed by JBQ

Nakasi is just the build name, similar to yakju for the Galaxy Nexus (the actual device name was maguro). Hence, the device name is grouper for the Nexus 7.

Noted. Thanks for the correction.

Help compile AOSP

Hey guys,
I'm trying to compile AOSP for the Nexus 7 3G.
so far, i've synced the master AOSP,
Code:
lunch full_tilapia-userdebug
make -j4
ran fastboot -w flashall
but the device fails to boot now. stuck in a bootlop
Guess proprietary binaries are needed any word when they'll be on the google drivers page?
Take a look here: https://github.com/synman/synman_ao...ter/device/asus/tilapia/proprietary-blobs.txt
And here: https://github.com/synman/synman_ao...b/master/device/asus/tilapia/extract_files.sh
These are from the device trees I made/modified to build GwT.

I'm trying device/common/generate-blob-lists.sh
Going to sync those trees if I'll need . Thanks

You won't find proprietary_blobs.txt in the public Google repo. They reverted it a couple months back.

Hopefully since it is a minor update cm will merge it without switching to 10.2 and staying as cm10.1.

They posted on their G+ page that it will be 10.2. Also, it's a pretty large under the hood update and there are lots of merge conflicts.

UBUNTU

Has anyone tried Ubuntu on new nexus 7?
like this
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Nexus7/Installation
That's for the first gen nexus 7 right? I've actually wanted to try it but don't want to be the first to mess with that until I got a confirmation that it works on 2nd gen tab. Because i would like to run Ubuntu on it to work on my programming on the go without having to carry my laptop.

We'll still just support the old Nexus 7 for now, as we first need to
start the port for the latest device. It should work, but the main
problem is that the device is based on Android 4.3 by default, so it
requires us to make our layer compatible with that as well (at least
the 4.3 based binaries).
Don't have the device, so can't give more details, but don't see why
not (we would at least have the same possibility to distribute
binaries, so we could also produce such a build once the port is
done).
Cheers,

The developer of MultiRom reached his goal on his Indiegogo campaign, so we should be getting it soon.

Nexus 7 flo released

Great news! I'm in the ubuntu mailing list and the first image for the Nexus 7 2013 has been released. It is an alpha with 4.4.2 base. Shouldn't be long before official images are out

That is awesome. I use multiROM and it has an option to install Ubuntu touch. I guess I will wait to see if they update to provide an install for my device.

Where did you find the image? I can't find it.
That's great! I've been itching to try UT out ever since I got my new 2013 for Xmas.
Anybody have any feedback on how it's running, and how well it works with multiRom?
Cheers
Any update on release date for us mortals.
I bought a Nexus 7 2013 a couple weeks past just for Ubuntu Touch.
Does anyone have access to that image?
Which mailing list has the links?

This process worked perfectly for me (follow the "Install from android" section, but definitely read the whole page first):
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install_UT_on_android4.4.2
I was given that URL on IRC during the hangout Mark Shuttleworth and others had this week.

CyanogenMod 13: First Marshmallow-Nightlies released

Hi,
These releases ONLY apply to Nexus 7 (deb & flo)
but does NOT to Nexus 7 GSM 2012 (tialapia) yet. Do they?
I think the experimental is something different?

We'll probably get it when the 3.4 kernel gets stable
