Automatically picking up photos from laptop - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

This thing is able to display photos from my laptop without setup. They just show up in photos.
Is this a feature of other phones before s3?

Is this automatic through wi-fi?
If so, can I just go over to some random girl's house hoping for pics?

HAHA, geez people, give the OP a break. Need more info - you must have connected the GS3 to the computer in some way first right?

The new TouchWiz Gallery app builds on the stock ICS offering with a handful of new features. Firstly, if you’re using a Wifi network with any DLNA devices already connected, you’ll see them listed alongside your on-device albums (and any Picasa or Google+ photos, of course). Press the menu key and you’ll find the option to manually scan for nearby DLNA devices.

In my gallery it lists an album with the name of my pc. Try enabling nfc. I was prompted enable it when setting up wallet and they showed up after that.
My computer is set to share files and pictures for homegroup on windows 7. So this might help too.

video streamed well, a .mkv video file too... which is playable through the stock video playing app, another nice surprise

Gallery - Be careful.

Today, I opened gallery after a long time. It was full of all sorts of pictures! If you watch any kind of movie, gallery saves few pictures from that! I don't know how this happens, because there are no settings to avoid this.
So did you watch a p0rn clip and it shows up in Gallery? LoL
busted!

Add a blank file named .nomedia to any directory you don't want Gallery to index.
This can also speed the start-up process.

A bit weird though. A couple of days ago they let me download smart office 2. Which I did. Now they only offer smart office 1 and Polaris.
It pays off to watch all Samsung offers closely and regularly. They sometimes make games and apps available for a couple of hours. Most is crap but some are gems.
Thanx for the heads up

I'm not satisfied with po4 because it can't edit files on my gdrive. It open in read only. Other suite can edit this. Doc files.

No I don't have a default app for. Doc. I choose time to time.
Try this: upload a .Doc file on your gdrive and then try to open it directly in gdrive app: if you do that with polaris (not viewer) it say "read only" and you can't edit files. With office suite pro in can do that!
Can you verify this behavior of your phone with polaris 4.0?
Thank you

Why not download it and give it a try, it is free after all. It seems pretty comprehensive to me, but like all apps of this type on a phone, it's only really useful for small edits (unless you have your phone linked to an HD display and are using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse).
Still waiting for my MHL cable, so will give it a try then with the set up mentioned above and report back here (if I can remember...lol)

I have a logitech quickcam pro 9000 mounted on the nexus with sticky mount.
I havent found any application yet to get it working.
I have tried several apks, like "usb cam Controller" and others. Unmounting the camera while this apk is running gives a message "camera detached".

I find most people tend to think anything bigger then a tiny phone or actual camera looks far too silly to use for a camera...
I find the 7 inch tablet standard to be awesome for taking pictures though. I'd be interested in trying to get some external camera to work, just have to see if I even have one lying around though
Check over at slatedroid.com under viewsonic gtablet then under ROM/development. Look through the last 10 pages or so of their ICS thread. They had a USB Cam working (or do a search for USB cam). I'm sure the script or driver could be ported over by someone. Sorry for another website mention, I'm just trying to help. Also you could contact fosser2 at slatedroid (I think he's on xda also).

[Q] "Create Collage" option doesn't appear in my gallery-help

Long time follower (pre "OG Droid" days) first time question poster. I was reading about the "Create Collage" feature on the Note 3 so I went to give it a shot. The problem is, that option doesn't appear in my menu. I'm completely stock, not even Rooted.
Any thoughts on what could be happening? It just seems so strange that this is completely missing. See for yourself in the attached screen shots.
Thanks
Have you selected at least 2 pictures yet? I just tried and mine works.
Edit: haha just actually looked at your screens. Yeah that's weird. Did you freeze or delete any Samsung apps?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
I don't remember uninstalling any Samsung apps and the only disabled apps are Verizon bloat and the Kindle app. It feels like it's just missing somehow. I'm hoping to factory reset as a last resort.

Facebook slow on nexus 7

Hey guys!
I picked up a 2012 nexus 7 for pretty cheap and I really love this tab. Does everything I would want it to do. However, one thing that's kind of annoying is the Facebook app is super slow... The app itself is responsive but the data loads as if I have a dial up connection. I ran a speed test from it and get 12+ meg...I also have an iPhone and iPad both connected to the same wireless ap and don't have any issues... All other apps seem to be fine as well. Any suggestions?
Thanks guys!!

Hidden apps is limited to 5 from default 10 or 15 = less services for device to handle.. and use_16bpp_alpha=1 forces your device to use 16 bits instead of 32 bits. Try it. Don't like it? Just delete it. Simple.
