Samsung Dive Remote Control Missing from Settings? - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

Has anyone else been able to get Samsung Dive working? I look at the instructions:
Step 1: Activate Remote Controls
To use the SamsungDive service, the remote controls of the mobile must be enabled. Select "Settings > Personal > Security" from the main menu.
Select "Find my mobile > Remote Controls".
If you register Samsung and Google accounts, "Remote Controls" are automatically enabled.
Register your Samsung account.
Register your Google account.
To use some SamsungDive service functions, you have to agree to allow Google to collect your user location information. Please agree to the "Use wireless networks" terms and conditions.

And I don't have the "Find my mobile > Remote Controls" menu section at all. I did register a Samsung Account and a Google Account. Did AT&T remove this or something?

I would also like an answer to this question. There is no "lost device" settings anywhere that I can find.
Edit: Another T-Mobile user is reporting that these settings are missing. Looks like the US version might be lacking this feature.

Most likely? Yes, they did it from the i777 also. AT&T wants you to use FamilyMap for tracking, but doesn't market such. I personally use Cerberus. Best tracking software I've ever had.

Yes AT&T removes the remote controls for obvious reasons. I believe most of their phones have this feature removed. Cerberus all the way. Phonelocator pro is good also.

I hope a custom ROM might bring this feature to us....

It did with the i777, but as I stated Cerberus is the way to go. With the fact that it can be saved in the system folder so even if you lose your phone you can always find it (it will survive a factory reset) that's the best option IMO

Yea, you either have to install the CWM flashable version or follow their instructions to manually install it to the system folder through either Root Explorer or ADB/Terminal. If you don't install it to System it won't survive a factory reset (through the privacy menu or CWM -> Erase Data/Cache) if System is totally rewritten (like through a CWM update) you do have to reflash the software (it seems to persist but you have to actually open it to get it to show, it's easier to just reflash the CWM package)

Its missing from the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 as well.

It is missing from Verizon as well. Called Samsung and they said that it is not available in the US.

Ouch that sucks, I wonder if devs can grab this from the Canadian roms

Attention To samsung Dive And Stock ICS Users

I'm a samsung Dive User. My phone was stolen, and recovered thanks to that.
I know there are ways to bypass that (not going to discuss that here) but they require some knowledge that's not available to common users.
Recently, i found that in the Stock ICS, it's possible to remove the samsung account without any effort. just click remove. that's a serious issue, since it's supposed to be a security feature, it should be difficult (almost impossible) to remove. Users rely on that in case of loosing their devices.
GB didn't let you remove the samsung account without wiping, and didn't let you wipe (in the documented way) the phone without the account's password.
if you try to wipe the stock ICS, it will warn you to remove the samsung account, witch you can do (As instructed by the wipe dialog) just removing it
Samsung need to fix this, but, since they do (if they do it) users should be aware of that, and know they are not secure just with samsung dive.

Really? I'm trying right now: you need to enter the password to disable remote controls and you simply cannot remove the Samsung account without a factory wipe (like the primary Google account).

Yep, on XWLP8 and you can simply remove the Samsung account removing Dive / remote control features... sigh

LP9 Singapore is the same. Account can be removed without even beying asked for a password.
This needs to be adressed to Samsung
Tried it on LP8, yeah easily removed, guess locking the screen with pattern or pin is necessary if you don't want someone to remove it.
And who the hell rate this thread at one star when it brings up valid security issue? Seems we have some one star ninjas who go around just to crap on threads.
Thanks to all that confirmed this issue... This os a big issue

Other down point is that now when you use it, messages appear on the device's notification bar: "find my mobile" ... "found by samsung". It's just missing messages like "turn off the phone now, cops'll be here soon", or even better: "wipe samsung account and do a factory reset immediately if you want to keep this mobile for yourself"

Same here with 4.0.3 LPD; somehow, overnight, my phone lost many of its settings, including the 'remote controls' and 'SIM change alert' settings for DIVE. Attempting to enable them resulted in a wait pop-up for a bit, then they automatically unticked. I was able to delete my Samsung account as the OP describes; when I re-created it, 'remote controls' was automatically re-enabled, and I could enable 'SIM change alert'. DIVE's "Ring My Mobile" function doesn't work any more though. It didn't work with GB 2.3.5, and started working again after I upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 LPD.
Is Samsung's firmware the buggiest in the business, or what?
in ics and jb it's gone like never exist .
i tried anti virus's but they removed with wipe too.
is there any way to stop wiping?
Remote controls are present in XWLPT. Trying to untick them requires the Samsung account password to be entered

[TUT] Bypass All LG Lock Google account "Verify your account'

Bypass All LG Verify your account (LG Google Factory Reset Protection ) on Android OS 5.1.x
Download and copy file APK Shortcutmaker to MTP or USB OTG

Was the file you needed on the thing you plugged in? Is that why you plugged it in or was that an unnecessary step?
Not sure this goes along with the rules on XDA and security in general. There is a reason you no longer have access to a device. We can't and should not take the risk and guess what that reason might be. At all times we should assume an unauthorized access attempt. Especially in this case. Reported (under reserve).
A genious o.o
would have been helpful when i got my new phone, cleaned google account, changed pw, factory reset phone. 72 hour lock!
but.... yeah. much more helpful for phone theft than regular users.
Shortcut to Settings
First, thanks to vn_mobile for sharing.
Second, here's a quicker way
Install Quick Shortcut by OTG as per the OP
Then search for "reset"
Select Settings, MasterClearActivity, Try
Reset Phone
Done!!
Great, I now can make a list of XDA members I know are morons. Let's hope they also have social media info in their profiles.

Maybe because this Exploit has been fixed and Google won`t let you bypass the FRP like that forever. It never worked on ALL devices.
this just happened to me on my htc m9. i changed my password sunday. reset my device and im like WTF? im done with google, this feature should be duely noted to consumers and in the literature. im taking my paperweight m9 back to tmobile and getting an iphone. i don't mind security but this is too much.

Find My Mobile Not Found On My S7 Edge

It appears there's no Samsung Find My Mobile settings on my S7 edge. There's no way to control/change Remote Controls, SIM Change Alert, and Reactivation Lock. I know there's alternatives out there but I actually like using this service.
On my S6 edge, they were under Settings > Lock Screen and Security > Find My Mobile.
Anybody find these settings?
Quick check of AT&T manual versus Verizon manual shows Verizon's manual makes no mention of the settings to enable this feature. AT&T'S manual does show the setting being present in the settings app security settings.
Samsung's "Find my mobile" web portal has a help feature describing how to tell if your device can be used with Find my mobile.
The Verizon variant truly does seem to lack support for it, since the options for enabling it are not found where Samsung's help feature says they will be on feature-capable devices.
You can go third party like Cerebrus or use Google's Android Device Manager to replicate some, but not all, of this feature's capabilities.
I'm sure no one will be surprised to learn that Verizon sells a premium version of their pre-installed basic VZ Protect feature that includes device location for a monthly fee.
I simply cannot believe the degree to which Samsung has agreed to cripple this flagship device's features to meet this carrier's demands. Were I the Samsung executive that handled these arrangements, I would have told Verizon they would receive no accommodations for device configuration that differed from any other American carrier and let them decide if they wanted to be the only major carrier unable to offer the device to their customers.

I went to Android Device Manager and my s7 Edge was there without me having to have done anything - I could locate it and remote ring/wipe it.
This is one thing I wish was on the phone - iPhones you cant reactivate without an iCloud password even if you wipe it. This needs to exist through Google or Samsung.

Once you set up your Google account you can't use the phone without the account info after wiping. Well unless you use one of the hacks, but they get squashed as Google releases new versions.

Samsung Galaxy S6/S7/S8/Note8 - Adding Missing/Hidden Quick Toggles/Tiles

Due to my own experiences after having purchased many Galaxy devices, I've noticed, Samsung likes to hide toggles.. So I always put my own back in, with adb, or an app. For newer android devices, we need adb.
So on your Galaxy, go to settings>developer options, and enable USB debugging, and Stay awake. (If you don't see developer options, go into 'About phone', and tap on 'Build Number' 7+ times until achieved.
Plug your phone into your computer, and make sure it's drivers are installed and the phone is coming up properly.
Download the ADB files, on your PC, here in a .Zip or a Folder
Then, open up an Admin CMD, (if you don't know how, GOOGLE.) Then, open up the directory of the ADB folder in the cmd.
Example, on my computer, I left the folder in downloads, so I type into the cmd cd c:\users/Jae/downloads/platform-tools Example
Type adb devices into the cmd. (Make sure only one phone is attached) If you see your phone, (random looking numbers & letters) good. If it says 'unauthorized' check the phone and make sure tap allow, if you don't see anything.. detach it & reattach, and type in adb devices again. When it says 'device', you're good. Go to the next step.
Type adb shell and at this point, you should be looking like This.. If you do, copy and paste this settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles
Once it loads, copy what came up by highlighting like this, and then use ctrl+v . Yours will be/look different, depending on your toggles. Paste it into a text file, or whatever.
Then copy settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles and paste it in front of all of that, then put ' in front of the first toggle, and after the last toggle. Like this, 'SilentMode,Wifi,Bluetooth' < JUST AN EXAMPLE
This is where you add in your missing toggles, using only commas to separate, no spaces.. Most commonly desired MobileData. There's more, if wanted. So, for example, if you start with 'SilentMode,Wifi,Bluetooth'
You should finish with 'SilentMode,Wifi,Bluetooth,MobileData,WifiHotspot' or any order you like. (MAKE SURE NO SPACES IN BETWEEN ANY TOGGLES. ONLY COMMAS.)
Should be looking like THIS!! then, copy it so it looks just like in the last screenshot. Simply right click in the cmd, and hit enter..
If you get a syntax error, you did something wrong. Like leaving out the ' at the beginning, and ' at the end of the toggles, or spaces somewhere other than the command.
If you have no errors, check your Quick Toggles for the newly added ones. Should be there, no restart necessary or anything.
If successful, congrats. If not, I can help. Just ask. (don't ask about anything other than the topic, PLEASE..)
As of December 30th, 2019, this still works just fine. HOWEVER on newer android updates, 'MobileHotspot' has been renamed to JUST 'Hotspot' . So if you're not seeing the icon after applying this fix, this is probably why. Try with Hotspot instead of MobileHotspot.
Thanks for the solution, finally I added mobile data icon!

Hey there! This worked great prior to the update I just did last week. I wanted to get the wifihotspot to be the first icon when i dropped the quick toggle menu down, instead of rifling through Settings, Connections, Mobile Hotspot and tethering, then finally able to switch it on. Now when I put wifihotspot in the command line you posted, it just stays at the default. It's as though they may have changed the name of the wifihotspot toggle to something else. Any idea? My phone is a S7, Android 8.0.0, Samsung Experience version 9.0, Baseband version G930W8VLU3CRE3. A lot more software info but hopefully that's enough. Thanks in advance for any help!

Question
I have small question. Is there a way to stop asking "Turn off mobile data" question?
I mean for example mobile data on. And when you touch toggle it asks "Mobile Data unless.. bla bla do you want to turn off mobile data?" I just want to change it as without any question.
Thank you
I was able to add "Hotspot" toggle to the Samsung Galaxy Tab A.

Phone been acting weird... need help

My phone has been acting really weird for a few months now and I can't figure it out. Is there a way to find all apps on the phone user installed, system, and hidden?? My phone isnt rooted; well I havent rooted it nor does it say it has. For instance earlier when I pushed my volume button there was an accessibility guy there nothing would open when I pushed him and while looking threw my accessibility settings and checking here and there to see if he was still there, he just vanishes without me turning anything off. Like WTF. Theres other weird things but that's just the most recent 1. And it's got me very concerned. Pls help!!
Your probably have a setting on in Accessibility like visibility enhancements or screen reader, you'll need to turn it off.
For list of apps you can view them in Settings > Apps ( Tap the 3 dots on the top right and tap "Show system apps" )

I'm not sure too much about malware, I do know that Samsung has their own "Security Features" in Settings > Device Care > Security if you want to scan your device, also try Play Protect.
Seeing that the Accessibility issues are out of the way, what other problems are you experiencing ?

I saw the guy again but this time I kinda got to look at the running services and I found this. Could that have something to do with it?? As u can kinda tell, once I forced stopped that cloud messaging service the time changed on it and went under the dual messenger service. But as I was saying beforehand, google play services always had a pop up saying using headphones in the background. But my data doubled in the last 2-3 months, things I download will just disappear and pictures (like my phone will restore itself a few days but not my messages or calls), my phone also keeps adding a new camera gallery like it's not connected anymore and is a new camera same with the screenshot folder. You sure do have alot of apps. I'm not from your country so I'm not 100% of what all your apps do.
But these are the apps that look suspicious to me :
AnyMusic
Device Info (Multiple Apps)
Downloader
I-Say
InboxDollars
Lucky Dice,Money,Pusher
Match to Win
McAfee Security
Mobile Performance Meter
Movie Hunt
MP3 Music Download
Music Downloader
Numerology
Phone INFO
Phone Reveal
QuickShortcutMaker
S'more
Scam Sheild
Shortcut Master (Lite)
Step Younger+
TextNow
Torrent Movies
Tubi
If I were you, I'd get rid of them.
If this doesn't fix your issues. I recommend you reset the device and do not install apps like this.

The one on the left is your recovery. The one on the right is Download Mode (Used to reinstall firmware via PC)

Sorry. I see it now. I'm not sure why that is. I have never seen that before in my life, it's very weird.
I recommend you backup your files and reinstall the firmware.
Thank u so much for u help but I think I'm actually gonna root this phone and get rid of some of these odd apps and that work profile that I have no idea how to get into. Now to just find and download everything I need to do just that. Lol
