[Q] What should I know before rooting and how to do it - G2 and Desire Z General

Hello All,
I have a Desire Z ... I was looking forward to root it and read about applications that root the device. But nothing works. super1click and z4root, none worked.
I want to know how to do it and what should I know before I root.

Did you just root? Did u also install a rom on it?
thanks for the replys =] im not using the model with a headphone jack, im using the original model 32B.
i have not installed any ROMs on it, im thinking about unrooting it, and then trying to root it again, do you think that will help?

trying will give you the best answer.
You don't get root access on the default rom. After you root you need to install a custom rom to get access to applications that require root.
thanks, worked perfectly =]

Root and Gingerbread

Hi,
Before upgrading to Gingerbread, I would like to know if the root
for Gingerbread is working fine and if the phone is, after being rooted , stable.
Daniel
If anyone wants to give this a bash you could try Gingerbreak:
NB. Your phone MUST already have S-OFF if you don't want to have to downgrade first.!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
I think you need to downgrade again before you can root your phone.
But in the development section there are stock 2.3 roms with root. Probably that's the right thing for you

Hi guys. I installed the gingerbreak apk & ran it.
It said it didn't work so I ok'd it & exited the app without rebooting.
I opened gingerbreak again & it asked if I would allow super user permission. I said yes.
Is this when I downgrade? Or can I just put new ROM on sdcard and boot into bootloader & flash it?
Sorry guys, all this is pretty complex stuff to me
Hi Folks.
For me Gingerbreak ran flawlessly.
Came from stock rom 1.32.405.6 rooted. ENG. & Radio S-off.
Installed Stock Gingerbread OTA.
Set USB debugging on.
Download & install superuser from market.
Download & install Gingerbreak.
Run Gingerbreak.
Choose "Root device"
Done!
Took about 5 min. Not counting OTA upd. of course.
Regards.
ELO
I installed the gingerbreak apk & ran it.
Gingerbreak rebooted my device but it is still not rooted.
I have S-OFF, USB debugging on and have ibstalled Superuser.
I have tried it twice.
Any idea what to do?
I have just noticed that after having upgraded to Gingerbread, My phone became S-On . This is the reason why I can't root my phone
Daniel
problem with s-off
I have problems with the s-off procedure after upgrading to android 2.3 official.
Gingrbreak works and permits rooting programs, but I'm not able to flash any otrher rom.
Any ideas? What am I doing wrong?
Thank you

The information you need can easily be found in the guides on the forum, there is no need for us to hold your hand and guide you step-by-step through the whole procedure. That's what the guides are for. You need to educate yourself a bit as rooting and flashing etc. are for users with atleast some experience. We're not using iPhones here where iTunes and Apple do everything for you. This might sound a bit harsh but there are tons of people filling the forum and asking for other members here to practically do everything for them. I suggest that until you understand what rooting and flashing involves, you stay away from it.
Here's something to get you going: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936214
To obtain s-off and root with gingerbreak, these is the steps to do in order?
Root visionary-> S-off-> (Eng-off??) -> Gingerbreak, and finally clockwork recovery
But visionary is working with 2.3.3 stock htc?

You actually rooted it when it asked for Super User permission, when it didn't ask the first time around, that's because SuperUser was installed by GingerBreak.

There is no easy way as in a one click root... If you search... most of the methods discussed here depend on which version of the hboot and if you OTA or not.. but they all lead to the same rooting method...
1. Downgrade your version
2. root
3 . flash with any custom rom or the official rooted rom

The unlockr has a nifty guide that takes you through everything. Yes, it isn't short. And yes, there were points I got stuck and searched for answers (most were in the comments to that page) but it's possible.

Ematic EGQ780-BU Android 4.4 tablet root?

Looking to root this thing so I can uninstall some bloat and install Xposed. I realize that it's not the best tablet but it was cheap and I wanted a tablet. I've installed roms and rooted various devices in the past but that's about as far as my knowledge pertaining to this sort of thing goes. I have no idea if this is the proper place to post for this but if it's not then please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any help.

@andi1235 - We can successfully root our Ematic Android devices using the Kingo ROOT application for Windows. I learned about this tool from a post I found on Google+. Hope this tool will work for you, as it worked for me thus far.
