S-pen near screen as mouse-over effect - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Maybe this is old news to many, but I just discovered that when the s-pen is near the screen (but not touching), there's a mouse-over effect. Cool!!

Yes old.
There's an option to activate a graphical pointer while over it

It is. Very useful in the browser, too.

For me I don't like the pointer option(in papyrus app for exemple) , to remove it :
\system\usr\idc\sec_e-pen.idc
Enable touch.deviceType = pointer
Disable touch.deviceType = touchScreen
Reboot after change

I'd assume that this will not work that well with a screen protector over it?

This effect is somewhat similar to Xperia Sola the floating touch thing. Developers should take this effect even forward and try make scrolling possible while hovering over the screen with the stylus button pressed it'll be awesome

I found it very useful for S Memo and other painting apps. I discover this option even when first ICS leak comes out.

+1 for the scroll option

A new IDEA......

Hi guys...
I dont know how many of you are annoyed with the way u ''multi task'' or bring ''recent apps'' in S3.. im certainly...
I feel ''pressing and Holding the home button'' for a while makes me think its a lllllllloooooooooooonnnnnnggggg time... so being lazy & impatient i came up with an idea....
:good: why cant Samsung or Someone could use the gesture "SWIPE UP FROM THE ""BOTTOM EDGE"" OF THE DISPLAY" to bring up the recent apps screen? Just like the way we bring down the notification bar from TOP EDGE of the display
Logically I want the device to look for the initial value of Y=0 on the screen to enable this gesture
We all know there is enough gap between the HOME BUTTON and the BOTTOM EDGE of the display?
Kindly say what do you think about this ? A request to Senior Members of the forum to make this idea reach the Samsung Engineers please.. Thank you
Can't be implemented until there is some hardware change.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
When the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update hits soon, that gesture will activate Google Now.
hm.why dont implement it with gestures+siyah kernel (link)
but instead of swiping above the hardware button, swipe on the bottom of the screen to up.

He's looking for gestures on the small area between screen and the hardware home key. That's not possible because the screen doesn't have touch sensitivity there.

[TIP] Hidden/Alternative S-Pen soft key gestures

Hey so while fiddling around with my Note 2 today I discovered a new feature that I have never seen in any videos or in any thread so I figured I must not be the only one who didn't know.
This is an alternative to the current back and menu gestures which are shaped like this < and ^.
1) Go back gesture: On the bottom right side of the screen flush to the edge, simply swipe down while holding the S-Pen button, this will trigger the back button soft key.
2) Menu gesture: Similarly, just swipe with the S-Pen pressed on the bottom left side of the screen.
Although this is ultimately the same as the other gestures, I find this one MUCH easier to get used to rather than the awkward backwards arrow. Hope you enjoy this tip :highfive:

Much easier indeed compared with the arrows.
For those who can't find the trick. The line should be around one quarter of the screen height and should be finished on the bottom on the screen.

HOME BUTTON: Make a "less than" sign anywhere on the screen
Quick Command: Make a 1inch line going UP anywhere on the screen

Multi window for our Samsung Galaxy S

Developers, I want your attention towards the multi window feature which is available in some high end Samsung phones.
It would be an achievement if our Samsung Galaxy S gets the multi window.
I saw the below given link in which this feature has been ported successfully to Galaxy Grand Quattro
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544955
I think a 4" screen is probably too small for multi window, maybe I'm wrong.

You mean someone has added it in a ROM?
That doesn't always mean it's a good idea lol
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I have an S3 now (I had a Galaxy S before though), 4.8 inches of screen with Multiwindow. It may just be because I have big hands, but even on the S3, multiwindowing is barely comfortable. On the S, who knows how well that may work.
Also, that multiwindow needs Samsung JB 4.1.2.

Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
There is no point using it on a 4 inch device. I find using it on my s4 a bit hard at times. The S1 may not perform very well if this implementation is added to the phone.

Whatsapp+MX player
xda+gallery

Wrong. In omni ROM if you go to the recent apps list and hold your finger on an app it let's you put it into split view.
I tried whatsapp with MX player. Phone goes a bit laggy, and if you click in the whatsapp pane then the video pauses. Personally I'd prefer to watch my videos in nice fullscreen landscape and check my messages by pulling the notification shade down.

[Q] Note 4 Tap to Wake

Hi,
I'm considering picking up the new Note 4, but this seemingly trivial feature is something I've grown to love on my Xperia and LG devices. Does the Note 4 have a double tap to wake feature implemented? Thanks!
There isn't any need for double tap to wake on Samsung devices as there is a physical home button.
This is a big one for me. The double tap to wake or close on the LG G3 has become one of my favorite features.
Regardless or not of there is a home button it would be nice to see this.
It does not.

As I remember, on HTC (One M8, I think), you just need to make a gesture on the screen and it wakes up & unlocks the device.

Mate 8 pressure sensing

Hi
I just found this activity while checking
this app QuickShortcutMaker.
Application: Settings
Activity: Pressure sensing
Package/Class: com.android.settings/com.android.settings.pressure.PressureResponseSettingsActivity

Here is a screen shot
is it working or just useless function enable !!
I think that's just some old code from the Mate S Emui which they weren't bothered about removing
I slid the slider to the left and I swear it now takes less effort to press onscreen buttons.

Thanks for this !

Use an app that can open activities. As for me I used that good ol' lmt pie. Pressure settings can be found there at the very bottom of the endless parameters activity list.
