"Keep Wi-Fi on during Sleep" settings do not stick - Transformer TF300T General

I wanted to set my TF300 to keep WiFi on, ONLY when plugged after the screen turns off... but that setting NEVER sticks.
Any ideas? Anyone else having issues with this? This is my 2nd TF300, since I had to return my first one (sluggish performance, display not responsive, etc), and this also happened on the first one.

I can't get it to stick either. I'm using Advanced Wi-Fi Lock, free in the market and it works like a champ.

I thought abut installing juice defender, but I don't see why should I do this

its probably a bug, im sure ive heard similar things with the one x - possibly an ics thing even.

Of course it's a bug... But any fix or solution available?

I think it may be an ICS bug. I have another ICS tablet that does the exact same thing. And its a cheap Ainol.

We shouldn't have to add additional software for the OS to do what we tell it to do.

4.2 OTA Screen Flicker

I have a stock N7 and accepted the over the air standard update to 4.2. Now I'm getting quite a bit of screen flicker. Has anyone else seen this?
Nope. That's pretty strange.

I thought so too.
Yeah I've noticed the increase too, coming from custom ROMs and modified kernels I think it's understandable. However googles failure to fix this is disappointing.

How do you disable prism?

I have updated my nexus 7 to 4.2 OTA. And i can confirm, with sorrow, that 4.2 ruined the tabled for me. I had some minor flicker with 4.1.2 but was very rare and i was OK with it. But now it's crazy. The strange thing is that the screen does not flicker constantly. It flickers 4/5 times and it settels down. This is in every single app i run, even on home screen. WiFI is off, the tablet was factory reseted ... this sux ... i send a mail to Asus to see that they know about it ...
I had to use Tegra Prism on 4.1 to fix the flicker - which is caused by the brightness changing slightly (still happens if you turn auto-brightness off).
I haven't updated to 4.2 yet (too many bugs) so maybe Google made prism more aggressive or something?
It's a paid app though, but you got 15minutes to test if it works or claim the refund.

Nexus 7 random touch issue really frustrating

So it's been like 1 year for my old nexus 7 and from last couple of days I am facing this weird issue screen touches randomly everywhere unable to control the Tablet only option is to press power button and then turn on the power button after couple of seconds this is the only way tablet behaves normally
Then Random touches happen after few minutes this issue has been a nightmare for me
I flashed Paranoid hoping this would solve the problem but it's still the same pls help as this has made my Tablet completely useless

Opinions On the Amazon Fire (5th gen)

I picked mine up last week for the $35 Black Friday sale and it is the best 7-inch (although it isn't exactly that large) tablet I have ever owned in my opinion.
I would think the same thing if I could just get music apps to work on it
At $35 I think it's fracking fabulous!
I got a 2nd one that I might give to an older friend of my family. Just set up as little more than a media player (movies, tv shows, music loaded onto the sd card). Using SlimLP or CM & set up to be as easy to use as possible. At $35, why not?
A 3rd one for a friends child (moderated use / screen time).
And I almost feel like I should have got yet another one. Just to keep on hand in case I think of someone I'd like to give it to. If it had built-in gps I probably would have got one to set up & give as a car gps. You can grab gps off a phone over BT but it's just not as nice as built-in.

Are you on the stock amazon OS, SlimLP or CM12.1? What music apps aren't working for you?
Its better than the original Fire, which I have owned for a few years & had it on LP before it died. The experience here has improved noticeably, especially when installing apps in the background or using PDFs (both would really lag the OG KF).
General performance for reading is excellent, I open PDFs mostly that are ~20-50pgs usually and I can read them lag-free. The Kindle app seems alright too, didn't have issues with storing books, so will move onto comics/manga at some point.
Screen? Looks acceptable to me, but the min brightness is too bright for me. It's much brighter than other LCD/IPS based devices I've used.
Overall the experience so far has been better than with my Encore Mini, which randomly stopped charging not long after the return window.

I am on slimLP, have you tried keeping it for at least 30 minutes with screen off? It usually crashes mine within 15 minutes.
For$35 this thing is great! Thanks to the devs we can install Google play and basically make this a normal Android tablet and hide all the Amazon crapware. It's pretty responsive if you ask me. The screen isn't the best, but it's not a breaker by any means.
Best at all 7 inch using it as remote control with droimote app for my shield tv that is the reason, because I was using my phone, with CM12 pretty fast.
For the $35 I spent it is definitely worth it. My biggest gripe is the screen. They don't appear to have compensated for the pixel shape. It is slightly condensed in portrait and slightly wider in landscape. This is noticeable with text and icons. Since this is a kindle device I am kind of surprised. That said, the resolution is not as bad as I expected. Also amazon really needs more functionality to interact with with the Firetv. The other downer is there is not even a basic integration of Alexa or dictation.

No I didn't test over 15min originally, thought it was crashing right away on you.
Today, I'm currently over 30 min on pandora. Screen was turned off via power button. When I hit over 1 hour I'll test screen off via auto timeout. I know it really shouldn't make a difference at all but I'll try it anyway.

Best tablet I've ever owned I paid £50 for mine would have gotten another if I had the money black friday
Sent from my Amazon Fire 2015
I bought the tablet for my mom on ebay about a week before it even went on sale (Stupid me, forgot all about black friday/cyber monday and couldn't return) and this thing is pretty slick. I actually went ahead and bought one for myself for the $35 and it'll be here next week. I spent a lot of time looking at different tablets, specs (screen size, ppi, resolution, processor brand/speed/technology, RAM/size/ddr2/ddr3, and a few other things) and this thing is well worth it.
Some might say 7" is small but once you've got it in your hand it feels really good, might not be a 720p resolution for those HD movies but 7" or 10" your eyes are not going to notice a difference.
I don't think I'll keep the Fire OS on mine, wanting to just install android but I'm keeping the Fire OS on my moms. It's got a lot of bloatware it needs hidden but she's going to use it primarily for book reading, so a lot of the Fire OS stuff will work well for her.
This tablet is a steal. I bought two during the Black Friday sale.
I hid all the bloat and installed PlayStore for my mom. After letting my brother and mom use it for a few hours, they really like it. Especially since it is small. When my second one comes in, hopefully tomorrow, I'm going to try one of the custom ROMs available. After messing with it for a bit, I'll give it to my sister and see how she likes it.
My main tablet is an 8" Windows 10 tablet. There are times when I miss using an Android based tablet. So I will definitely borrow this from my sister frequently.

Just to say you aren't alone. Only used the stock rom with some of the stuff trimmed and didn't actually realise that was why it was stopping until checking after reading this yesterday. I just thought I'd reached the end of album/playlist as I wasn't paying enough attention. Playback stopped quite quickly on poweramp even though it was supposed to be looping an album.
I think its great. And it is already seeing a bit of development which I am excited about. Mine is currently rocking cm 12.1 and running like a dream. A quad core processor with a decent panel for $50-35$ is nuts.

No call audio while fast charging

I have a strange issue, if the 6p is fast charging (supplied 3a charger) and the phone rings (incoming call) i cant hear the other party and they cant hear me until i unplug the charger... Almost like i thinks the charger is also a headset.
Im on the latest official rom, i cant be the only one with this weried bug surely?

You're not alone. I have found this for quite some time, too. I could only find a few other cases on the internet... One of them was on Google product forum. One reply says it's a known issue and is software related. I'm surprised though that so many people either don't have the issue or don't notice it, if it were a "known" issue.
---------- Post added at 08:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:04 AM ----------
BTW I have this issue not only when it's fast charging but also when it's slow charging. I've tested with PC USB charging, and there's no sound from earpiece.
Another difference is people can hear me so mic seems to be working. I just can't hear them.

I did also post it to the nexus forums someone suggested to run an app to monitor if the phone thinks a headset is connected in anyway when charging and the phone rings... Never had time to test. At least i know im not alone, honestly i dont understand why more people have not noticed and also why we have had 3+ months of security fixes with 0 bug fixes or at least according to the change logs.
If more people could either confirm the have the issue or at least post back they dont, which would prove its not all of them... If its software it should be everyones.. However my feeling is it maybe hardware... How do you check the build date of the 6p, or maybe we could narrow it down with our purchase dates.
Mind doesn't do this. At all. Ever. No idea why yours might. Have you tried the basics like checking for rogue apps and full reset?
Build date is under barcodes (power on and volume down)
Ok my build dates 18/10/2015, thanks for posting back, so at least its less likey its is really software.. Dont really have time to try a full backup, wipe, test and reload right now, but my feeling is its not software rated, im suspecting a common ground issue.
I have no energy to redo my rom either as I'm a bit more OCD and maybe paranoid than average. My build date is Oct 30, 2015. I'm truly hoping it's not hardware related ?

remember what that app is called? I might give it a try. It might be kernel independent. I've tried both Stock and Elemental X, which is based on stock though.

Hi, sadly they never told me which status app to use, there are a few which will tell you which audio device is active. They called it device info but there are at least two which go by that name....
Ive not had a chance to double check since the update, but it appears it only happens on incoming calls... Which is strange, but if your build date is also similar to mine and we both have the issue and others dont it does look to be maybe some hardware bug. Im sure it could be worked around in software, just the need to accept its actually a bug before this happens.
I have this issue and it's really irritating. The charger does not matter and clean wiping hasn't resolved it. Going to get in touch with Google about it and see about a potential replacement.
Same here
Hi,
I'm running version 7.1.1, NMF26F build
Same issue here, no audio during calls via the earpiece.
It does work on Hands free speaker mode, using a headset and a bluetooth headset.
Just a thought, it appears that the phone doesn't want your head near the unit while it's charging. Precaution maybe?
Got a replacement from Google lately and today finally set it up (a full Nandroid restore from previous N6P), so nothing changed OS-wise, and found out the call works normally when rapid charging. If it's not too much trouble, I suggest everyone to contact Google about this issue.

I like it. Screen is nice. Battery life is great (got over 8 SOT first night). It never gets hot. PERFECT size for reading comic books.
Negatives: Might be slightly underpowered. I've felt some lags and frame skipping in the animations. Speaker is not great. Not having root is a (hopefully temporary) drag. "Android OS" is keeping my tablet from deep sleeping and I don't know how to tell what is actually keeping it awake.
