Yes, have cleared the Data. Then copy the new Mms.apk, change rights and crashed system service (no reboot required). But get Force Close.
Then Reboot, checked for app data (is cleared), but get Force Close.
Have attached Logs.

Alright let us know. I tried moving Launcher2.apk and Music.apk to /system/app and then rebooting, but Launcher2 doesn't appear anywhere (Home Switcher, etc.) and the Music icon is just gone from the app drawer, so I guess I'm doing something wrong.

Anyway you can upload the launcher2 and messaging for gingerbread?
Running Perception Build 4 w/ Setiron 1.4.1 1280
Hey guys just thought I'd report in with some observations. I got Launcher2, MMS, Music, and LatinIME installed and working. With LatinIME the only problem was there was no prediction of upcoming words. Then I installed DeskClock.apk, NetSpeed.apk, SystemUI.apk, and UserDictionaryProvider.apk (in hopes of fixing lack of text prediction). When I rebooted after installing these four, it got stuck in a boot loop. Unfortunately since I installed four apks at once, I couldn't localize the problem to one in particular. Though if I had to guess I'd say it was probably SystemUI.apk, as when I installed that it told me it was for the status bar, which may cause some issues. I'll try to install one at a time and see for sure which one causes the issue.

MIUI MMS Size Fix - 1.12.9, 1.12.16 (MMS Size Changed), 2.3.4a

So, i got fed up with dealing with thumbnail MMS for TMOUS while using MIUI, and i dont believe using a different txt messaging app is a viable solution, thus, i took matters into my own hands and edited the UA in the messaging app to NexusOne.
!!!NEW CHANGES!!!
This uses the N95 UA and Uaprof for carrier compatibility reasons.
The MMS Size has been changed to 120000 per request from relldroid
I tested this on my own phone without any issues.
Based off of 1.12.16, 1.12.9 and the latest stable 2.3.4a
Simply boot into CWRecovery and flash like any other update
Let me know of any issues, and i'll try to help as much as possible
Thank you.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Download file for your chosen build
2) Save it to your SDCARD (root dir is the easiest)
3) Boot into CWM Recovery
4) Select "load zip from SDCARD"
5) Select zip file on SDCARD
6) Reboot
-6a) It can be considered safe measure to wipe the cache and Dalvik cache prior to rebooting. No harm no foul
--Alternatively, if you use Rom Manager, you can use that as well. That program works directly with CWM Recovery.
How-To for yourselves
Hard Method;
Req - SystemUI.apk, Framework.apk, MMS.apk (all from the same build, no mismatching) APKManager (google is your friend )
1, install APKManager
2, move SystemUI.apk -> c:\users\*your username here*\APKTool\
3, rename Framework.apk -> 1.apk
4, move 1.apk -? c:\users\*your username here*\APKTool\Framework\
5, move MMS.apk -> ~\apkmanager\place-apk-here-for-editing
6, run apkmanager from the installed directory (instructions of how to run it is with the download)
7, decompile mms.apk
8, within the \projects\ folder, there will be a folder labeled MMS, locate the xml file mms_config
9, edit the string userAgent -> NexusOne (other useagents can also work, NexusOne is a known working one for HD2 + TMOBILE)
10, once edited, compile, hit yes, then yes
11, follow the one screen instructions (it's straight forward)
12, rename the newly created apk unsignedMMS.apk (located in \place-apk-here-for-modding) to MMS.apk
13, place the new MMS.apk into the \system of your phone
14, reboot
Easy method:
Req - latest MMS fix
1, download my latest fix
2, unzip
3, unzip the mms.apk (treating the mms.apk as a zip file)
4, locate mms_config.xml
5, copy to the new mms.apk (again, treating as a zip file
6, move to \system of your phone
7, reboot
Use only the above instructions if you know what you are doing, I take no responsibilities in any damage/issues caused by the provided methods.

Im using JW MIUI 1.4.29 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050645
How i went about it is that i put the mms.apk in the root of my sd card using ES File Explorer (which supports system rw mounting) then copied the file into \system\app\, overwriting the original.
If you try to install it as a normal apk, it will reject it, since it's a system app

MIUI is a custom android suit, like how sense is for android. It originally started out as a knock off from the iPhone but evolved into something more unique. Go check it out @ www.miuiandroid.com, they update the rom once a week, every friday
Still a novice here....
How do you flash the size fix with the zip file?
Do I just unzip the file using root explorer?q
Force close
I tried everything even pushed through adb and still not working. :l

[Q] make default system app

uhm i recently found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1413341
and i want this app to be my default SYSTEM app, in short i want to uninstall "samsung keyboard" and replace this wp7 keyboard (click the link). i want to make it my default system keyboard.
any suggestion? guide? i'm noob/..
use titanium backup to remove the samsung keyboard from system,
then use adb push, to install the new keyboard, it goes to the /system/app
but i'd suggest just downloading smart keyboard if you want a keyboard + lots of theme support
one question..
can i install holo launcher using root explorer? i will forcely move holo launcher to become a system app?

I truly think you are right but please tell him to set permissions as it will not be visible unless u set permission's and in my view use link2sd for these purposes as it includes an option directly to convert it to a system or user app............ :cyclops:
Speaking of permissions, after you move an apk to /system/app...set the permissions to rw-r-r. I think both shivamsejal and deathnotice forgot to say that. And link2sd is good too, but who wants to remain a noob in these things?

You did tell him to set permissions, but how will he know that the permissions should be set to rw-r-r or rwx-r-r or r-rw-rwx, etc.? There are so many different kinds of permissions. Permissions should be the right one, not just any one.

actually mms.apk can be removed and you can still recieve messages,
if you use go sms, handecent, pansi you'd be able to recieve messages with or without stock messaging,
the phone.apk is the one reponsible for the cellular radio decoding and recieving,

So I got the quickpic app to work. Thanks for that info. But I tried to do the same with ics picture gallery and I followed the steps but no lib folder. This was also a system app on another rom. I looked for the lib files of this app in the system/lib but there was nothing there. Btw I was having trouble with smart keyboard pro but I found and fixed permissions in system/lib for that too. Thanks! So where else can the lib files hide if not in system/lib or apk/"view"/lib/armeabi/? Thanks again 3rdzc

As mentioned above you can push and change permissions too - I just use system app installer as its quicker and automates that proccess to save you changing the permissions yourself
It also comes in handy if the apk has lib files to save you extracting them and pushing them too (the stk doesnt have libs - you can just push the apk to system and change permissions and it will work)

I was able to get it to work, I changed the name to gmail.apk, moved it to the System/app folder
Change permissions to Check: Owner, Group and Others under "Read" and check Owner under "Write"

Just put your finger on the app, after a second you'll see a menu popup with the Permissions option listed.

are you using the new L preview? Tried what you said but couldn't get it to work. With L, all apps under /system/app has it's own folder. I tried under /app/ and /app/PrebuiltGmail neither works
Play music crashes when you select an album.

Yes, I'm using the latest L Preview. I just renamed to gmail.apk, moved to system/app and it worked. I just can't get the exchange account to setup.
Tried out the google play music but whenever i try to open an album it crashes, but besides that it looks great
