[Q] how do i export or backup my contacts to phone memry in GT-N7000? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

how do i export or backup my contacts to phone memry in GT-N7000?
Note:-
I do not have SD card.
Thanks.

Contact - menu - import/export - Export to USB storage
(if you select export to SD card it will export to Ext SD card)
PS If i remember correctly this option available on ICS only. On gingerbread it was only avaiable to export on ext card only.

import/export menu i have import/export to sim card and via e-mail or other messaging app only!!
note:
i don't have sd card

You hav not inserted sd card, thats why you may not seeing option. And usb storage option is i think only in ics

I think so.
tell me one thing about ics, I've heard that ics OS stops and prevents the apps from consuming data while mobile internet is connected while thay are running in background, is it true ?
what i want to say my gingerbread OS is consumes data even all apps are off !!??

On my Note (GB) it only says Export to SD card. Not ext sd card!
I must admit that android defies my logic. Perhaps I’m too old at 71.
Why the heck the internal memory called sd card? Why not just internal memory or phone memory? People just saying sd card can mean either to me and leave me wondering if it’s internal or external. In the phone it can be ext_sd_card, USB storage etc. not very helpful.
Rant over.
Kind regards,

Yes in GB, export to SD card means Export to Ext SD card.
Thats why they have corrected on ICS. On ICS it is USB storage and Ext SD card option.

Installations on Internal SD vs External SD

When I have installed games like Sniper vs Sniper, Homerun Battle 3d and Asphalt. They all have me to download more files but they are always installed on the internal SD instead of the External SD. Is there a way to prevent this?
anyone have any ideas?
Any reason why you would NOT want them on the near 2 gigs allocated?
I want the installations to go on the External Card and they are all installing on the internal card. Maybe the thread topic is misleading....
No, just curious why 2 gigs is not enough. Especially when faster than external. Doesn't make sense...
Its the way the SDs are mounted. Sdcard/sd is the external. The app just looks for sdcard/ which is the internal.
He's taking about the internal sd not the /data apps dir.

Yes thats what im referring to. I want everything to be on the external. On other phones like the Evo, the games "extra" files are installed on the Ext SD Card.
correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding is there are 3 storage options:
1. Phone's 2GB internal memory: this is where apps are installed
2. Phone's 12GB internal memory: internal memory you can mount to PC and move files back and forth
3. External SD card slot: can use up to 32GB of microSD card here.
OP, what exactly are you looking to do? Put the apps installed on the 2GB internal ROM on the external SD card? I don't think this is doable w/o rooting, maybe 2.2 Froyo will have it.

Games like Homerun Battle 3d. When you install it, it tells you that it has to download more information to store on your SD Card. On the HTC Evo, the downloaded information stores on the external SD Card in the /com2us folder. On the Vibrant, the extra information that is downloaded stores on the internal SD card in the same folder. I would rather have all the extra info store on the EXT SD Card.

Sorry I wasn't really clear on my on my post. Most phones don't have an internal SD card, so the standard mount for the external SD card is the sdcard/ partition, so the app automatically mounts the data there. You'll have to reprogram the app to see the SGS external SD card mounting directory of sdcard/sd

Big problem with main SD storage - Galaxy S2

Hi to all people,
I've been exploring my new Galaxy S2 and don't know how but... my camera can't save pics on internal SD card cause storage option is in grey and "Phone" is selected...
Also I can't move applications to SD so I think problem is in SD detection... but I've no idea at all... I tried to mount and umount with CMW in Recovery Mode but nothing... anyone can help me please?
Thanks in advance,
try another sd card
Sounds like card is becoming faulty.

If its the external sd card format it through windows fat 32 .
#If its the internal sd card you can format via CWM but that wipes all data .

Its the internal sd card (11Gb) that's the matter... I tried to format via CMW v4.0.0.2 (Mounts and Storage Menu --> format /sdcard) but the same matter i can't select SD card Storage in Camera Options ... Really it's possible to save pics there?
Thx
In the camera app, saving to the phone saves to the phone's internal 11GB space. Selecting the save to SD card option makes it save to the external microSD card.

You would be better off having the photos stored on the external microsd card than the internal memory.
By having them on the internal memory if you have problems with your phone and you have to factory reset you lose everything on the internal memory.
I put everything which I consider valuable onto the external memory card.
Periodically I then take this card out of the phone and copy it's contents onto my PC.
Yes, you could hook up your phone to your PC and copy the contents of the internal memory but should you have to factory reset you would lose everything from the last backup.

storage confusion(memory)

im just a bit confused about the sd card in general,,my phone of astro file manager has like,,,phone>sdcard>externalsd...which is weird and i never know if im searching my phone or my sd card...
when i try and load things i have dragged on my pc desktop onto sdcard they ussualy then go into phone>sdcard>external sd and never just .... sd card
i was trying to load images into sketchbook mobile and i could only do so from the phones camera pictures where i now have to drag everything omn the desktop....why cant i make use of my 32gb external sd card in this regard?
where are the applications for augmenting tehe sd card memory or whatever not for just having aplication sent to sd card memory,
does the sd card just work like say,,an external usb hard drive for a computer except you can put some inatalled application on it,,,,,but nothing like media,,photos videos etc?
or is it just me?
cheers
Your phone aka tab is divided into parts
System arnd 2 gigs
SDCARD arnd 14 gigs
System works as space for system
Sd as your sd card - Flashing doesn't destroy data on this
And if you place another SD card then it is termed as external_sd
So primary storage for you phone is SD Which is its own space
PS : there is usb storage folder (in sd card directory) also which is for your pendrives, etc

there are a lot more partitions than the 2 you mentioned!
efs
system (~1GB)
data (~2GB)
hidden
...
as far as i remember the note has 8 or 9 partitions (all of them have to be
subtracted from the initial 16gig (unformated!! formated it will be significantly less) storage!
so from your 16gigs you should see around 11GB as free mem on '"sdcard"!
i can't tell exactly because i have the 32gb internal version. with it a little more than 25,5GB are shown as "total" available (not free) storage!
as mentioned above
the rom has 1gb partition
data/system has 2gb
rest is used for sd card purposes around about 11.8gb
the device sees the internal memory as sd memory, the external sd card is seen under /external_sd
the file mangers will automatically go directly to the internal storage when browsing
i understand that I get about 12 GB left from 16 internally but.....
what can I actually do with the external_sd?
I cant load jpeggs onto sketchbook mobile at the moment. Reaally annoying
Any reason as to why it wouldn't recognize files in the external_sd?
Also we were saying about partitins and other random folder in the phone SD and external sd? anyone got a referrl to which ones can be deleted and generally how to make the phone and external sd card more navigation friendly?
please this would be really helpful
external_sd is your physical micro sd card, you can do what you want with it, i personally have all my music and movies on there
what files are you putting on the card?

[Q] SD card space

Under storage settings.
Shows me SD Card total space 116MB Available space 12.52MB. My SD card was a 32 gig class 10.
Internal storage 4.9GB
Available space 4.33GB
Also C7 will boot without memory card in it. My cousin helped me root it and we used the SD card to root it. According to him I should be able to take the SD card out and boot into the normal NOOK settings. This correct?
I am getting errors when I try to install things to SD. Tells me there is not enough room.
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense still very new to this.
Thanks for the help.
First, go to Settings>CyanogenMod settings>Application> and make sure Use internal storage is unchecked.
Then go to Setting>Storage and let us know about SD card, Internal and Additional storage values.

Sounds like you installed CM7 to the internal memory, not to an external SD card. that's probably why you are seeing the space available on internal memory, but not the SD card. There is Verygreens's method to install CM7 and CM9 to the external card, leaving the stock Nook ROM in place, but it doesn't sound like you used it. To get answers to most of your questions, go to Leapinlar's great information page here:

Specifics relating to installing CyanogenMod on an SD card are in the second post.

Yes, I agree. It sounds like his friend set it up to install to SD by burning the image to the card, but somehow flashed the rom to internal memory instead. That would explain the 5GB internal space and 116Mb SD card space.
He needs to reformat the SD card to get the full size of the card available.

Well sounds like the stock nook interface is gone then. No big deal. Do I just reformat the SD card through the settings in android? The option states Erase SD Card. Would that be what I want to do?
Also not sure if this is related. But sometimes C7 wont boot when I have the SD card in. Take the SD card out and it boots just fine.
Well I grew a pair and did the Erase SD Card. Now it is showing 29.66GB.

LOL. Good job. Yes, stock Nook is gone. I can help you get it back if you want it, but most never miss it. The only reason people want it is for warranty or if they want to have kids books work.
Random side question but figured since I have ya here.
Any idea on a good note taking app for android? As in for school notes like during class?

migrating to new SD card with adoptable storage enabled

Hello,
Just wondering if anybody has any knowledge on how to install a new SD card when you already have adoptable storage enabled. I'm assuming I could power down the phone and copy everything over, but my new SD card is 200gb vs 128gb installed. I'm worried the partition table wouldn't be set properly.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks,
Jaime
I haven't tried but perhaps unmounting the SD card would help?

The data stored on your card must be moved back to the internal storage in order to avoid breaking your apps. You can do that from the internal storage menu. If you can't fit everything, you'll have to delete things until you're under the limit. At that point, you can go back into the SD card storage menu and format it as "portable", meaning it will work in other devices. If there's any data still on it, you will lose it. Then put in the new card and set it up for "adoptable" as the previous card was.
