The back case of Tab2 7.0 is aluminium or plastic? - Galaxy Tab 2 General

Does anyone know if the Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7 uses an aluminium material on back case?

Idk seems plastic to me. It scratches pretty easily.
sent from my galaxy tab 2

Brushed-look plastic. Metal feels (generally) cold to the touch when at ambient temperature. Same for the Tab 2 10.1 -- plastic.

Plastic.

There are users here that have experienced cracked/scratched screens on the 7.7 tab already.
I can't find the posts, but to be honest I haven't really tried that hard.

Under P1000 you will see:
Protection: Corning Gorilla Glass
But under P6800 there is nothing about Gorilla Glass..?
I know that gsmarena.com not always have all the information on the device, but anyway.. weird.

i'm almost sure the 7.7 features gorilla, simply because the corning site always took it's time to update on new products. and i can't imagine that samsung wont use this feature on it's otherwise VERY sophisticated and well built 7.7...
example:
it took corning MONTHS to state they use gorilla on the galaxy note,
and in the note forums had been quite similar discussions than this one!

pretty sure it's Gorilla glass because someone said he counldn't scartch the screen even with a knife.

Well, Gorilla Glass isn't nuke proof or anything. It's going to break, scratch, and shatter like any other glass. It just has a higher threshold. I think sometimes people think that since their device has Gorilla Glass then they can be a bit more carefree with it, and then are disappointed that *whoops*, smash!

I agree thanks for your replay but ill be happy with the extra protection i am just surprised that samsung did not mention anything about it
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Heck, with as many separate manufacturing facilities (I think the 7.7 is made in at least two countries) and overlapping product lines as Samsung has, they might not even be sure themselves which device has Gorilla Glass
I think it has gorilla glass, because of it's blueish reflection...
just like on the GSII.
But, hey, maybe I'm crazy

This will be helpful for anybody who wants to repair a scratched screen;

I also think this baby has the CGG protection
I accidentally dropped a padlock on the screen when the tab is lying down on the floor while I was fiddling with my locker padlock
The padlock's corner hits the screen near the earpiece, I'm using a screen guard and the impact bores through it! I immediately checked for damage, thank God theres none!

Did this really need a thread? 3 second search... https://www.google.ch/search?num=50...7.7.0.0.0.1.122.575.6j1.7.0...0.0.j5T6ZF6RAEM
Just saying.
I had my hands full with shopping and a screaming baby a month or two ago. I put the tab down on the boot ledge of my car and once I'd finished putting away the shopping, forgetting where I'd put my tab, I closed the lid. It didn't close but I remembered tab, in a moment of horror, a split second before I gave it a slam.
The glass edge had been popped out a couple of mil and amazingly there was no damage. All was fine after pressing it back in.
I don't know if it was the glass or hard plastic of the anymode cover but regardless, the glass itself must be pretty tough.

gorilla glass confirmed.
hello guys,
i emailed samsung regarding this matter for the sake of relief and i just recieved a reply today confirming that our 7.7 tab has gorilla glass indeed.
here's the email reply
It would be great if samsung could emphasize that the mention is tab7.7 because we all knew that the old tab had gorilla glass.

The email mentioned OLED - the only Galaxy Tab with an OLED screen, at least as far as I know, is our 7.7

Dunno what it is... but it's STRONG
My friend's dog attacked it , dropped it about 1m (3ft) onto concrete glass-down...and there was no damage to the screen or the internals (edges of the side/back plastic had slightly scuffed paint though).
I've dropped it on tile floors from about the same height or higher (I'm 189cm/6'2" and somewhat nearsighted) while standing up... still works.
I've dropped an E-cig (heavy bugger, and made of metal to boot) directly onto the screen, many times... not a scratch.
Whatever glass it is, it's even more durable than Sammy's Galaxy S1 (aka AT&T Samsung Captivate's) screen, which does show a grand total of 1 tiny scratch (only visible on black, several pixels long). Still no scratches despite my clumsy and at-times drunken lifestyle :good:

Screen scratches

Has anyone noticed the screen can be scratched relatively easily? I have somehow managed to drop my phone on to the floor once and now the screen has a hairline scratch across the centre. So I'm annoyed. The old note seemed more durable.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
It's not a durability thing as much as it's pure luck. No two drops are identical so all those drop tests and stuff are pure crap. Besides, you actually dropped the phone so you can't blame anyone but yourself.

I understand that and know its no one's fault but my own. My old note 1 was subject to a years abuse and had less scratches than the new note 2 has after a week. It just disappointed me a little. I know they aren't invincible but a scratch after a small drop disappointed me a little you know.

Gorilla glass has a level 7 in mosh scale. All over it will scratch your screen.
It's hardened glass, not adamantium.

Do they make clear adamantium?
I upgraded my note 2 to a full diamond screen, was prefect until my wife scratched it on her earring... Maybe they should make a full it a full energy feedback display, no mass to get scratched that way but the battery life might drop a notch.

All my phones since the Nokia N8 haven't had a single scratch on them. That's why I don't buy screen protectors, they look ugly, they feel different than glass and I just don't like them. I gifted my little brother that N8, then gifted my girlfriend my ex SGSII and she then sold it without scratches, now she owns a SGSIII without scratches. My Note 1 was with me for 5 months and when I sold it had zero scratches.
Now my Galaxy Note 2 has about 2 weeks of use and it already has 2 little tiny scratches on the screen. It doesn't bother me as you can't see them on normal use and just when you look at the glass from one particular angle, but the scratches are there. Very very small, very very light, but is there. I took the same care as with any of my previous phones so my guess is that Samsung used the properties of Gorilla Glass 2 to make the phone thinner and not stronger, and now it scratches more easily. Since those 2 little scratches my Note2 is always on my case now and hasn't developed any extra scratches. But like I said, neither of my previous phones had any scratch at all, the Nokia N8 and SGSII were amazing since I used them a lot and them my brother or my GF kept using them quite a lot and not a single scratch. The Note 1 was with me for just 4-5 months. The Note 2 screen is definitely a bit more prone to scratches.
TL; DR:
The Note 2 screen is more prone to scratches from my POV. Older phones that I had I sold without scratches after more than a year of use. Note 2 is 2-3 weeks old and with 2 almost non noticeable -but existent- scratches.
Gorilla glass two is more harder than gorilla glass 1 and hence more susceptible to dust scratches. No doubt itbwill give u more protection from nails, keys and other metallic stuff but gorilla glasses are not resistant to Scratches caused by dust and G2 is more prone to it. So keep it safe from dust and i would say that its better to get a screen protector than regretting.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
I got few scratches just by wiping it with a cloth.for future, is it possible to replace just the glass
After my recent experience with S3 I realized it was worth buying investing in the screen protector.
Get one and save yourself from the pain. My S3 got scratched even without being dropped.

This could not be more wrong. GG2 has the same characteristics as GG1 but is 20% thinner. That's supposed to be the innovation here.
It's just a matter of luck. No matter how you try to spin it. If your screen comes in contact with something harder than it is such as sand (not regular dust) then it will get scratched.
http://m.corninggorillaglass.com/smartphone/#_InnovatingWithGorilla
Sand in particular is the weakness of gorilla glass. A single grain of sand floating around in your pocket will cause mayhem with the glass. In fact sand will scratch the glass more than keys or coins will.

It is real glass . even if u tap on front of the device. It sounds the same. The glass is very finely stuck to the frame of the device. Which is plastic. So u are hearing that. And there are doubt's of back part being not gorilla glass. That's it

Case that doesn't muffle microphone?

I have a Spigen Liquid Armor on my S9+ and my wife has one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B3TV1LM/ref=od_aui_detailpages04?ie=UTF8&psc=1
When we're on speakerphone, the other party can't hear us. We keep cutting in and out. The case is thinner on my wife's phone case and the microphone hole is bigger, so the microphone is closer to air than mine, and yet it still has the problem. If we take our cases off, then the problem goes away. Does anyone have a case for their S9+ that doesn't cause problems with the speakerphone? I don't have problems if I take the phone off speakerphone mode.
I'm currently using this (no problem at all):

Scratch repair?

I have someone willing to sell me a Note 10 Plus (512 GB Model) for $600. It has one annoying little scratch that you can catch your fingernail in on the screen. I'm curious if there is a liquid-apply screen protector or a filler out there one of you all has used that can take care of the problem.
Thanks in advance!
I have the exact same question
Throw a whitestone dome glass or similiar SP on it. That'll "bandaid" it enough whereas it'll appear nothing's there.

Agree with this....probably the cheapest solution available....from what i understand the liquid adhesive should fill the scratch and make it less visible.
Did you happen to check if perhaps the seller still had the stock screen protector still installed? I had a nasty scratch on mine..finally removed it and the glass beneath was pristine.

Any good screen protector will hide moderate scratches.
qty
Consider replacing to glass in the long haul when doing the battery.
The plastic screen protector IQ Sheild is a wet apply, works well and may help conceal it nicely.
It's inexpensive and relatively easy to install.
I had a dog awful horrible experience with the Whitestone glass of Doom. They sent the wrong everything and didn't even say sorry. Took forever to refund.
Offshore shipped trashware... NO.
I was impressed in a most unpleasant way.
