A Fond Farewell - Nexus S General

I went and did it. I jumped into the upgrade bandwagon and pre ordered a galaxy s3. I would like to say that I truly enjoyed my experience on the nexus s4g forums. So many helpful and friendly people. It was definitely among my favorite forums.
I would like to take the time and say thanks to all the Developers for making my experience with the nexus s4g very enjoyable and making my nexus my favorite phone so far. If the developers on the gs3 forums are even half as good as you were, I know I will enjoy my new phone just as much.
I would like to especially thank the euroskank team and mathkidd for making a great daily driver rom and kernel combination that allowed me to enjoy my nexus so much. I would also like to thank John C. for his help in creating my skunk setting and being a friend. BTW... When are you going to send me those video cameras.
Anyway I wish all of you great success and hope you all enjoy the nexus as much as I did.
Happy Flashing!!!

Not really lol, just thinking that shouldn't samsung like give us galaxy users a upgrade option, I mean I just bought the i9000, and nexus s is coming at thee end of december, wtf!!. I am now tangled in a two year contract and I can kiss goodbye to a nexus s, @#%;?/!! . Don't you agree people of the world! What are your views?
Im sure the ROM will be ported and then my phone will basically be a nexus s.

That's just the world of smartphones, sadly.
As an old Blackberry user, this doesn't surprise me at all.. But from looking at the specs of the Nexus S and the SGS, there's really not a major difference.. I definitely won't be losing sleep over it

I tried your ROM. It was good.work and everything but for some reasons scrolling in launchers wasnt smooth and also i didnt like the animations too much. I will try v4 when it comes out, however.

Well...here's the problem.. Nexus S doesn't really feel like an upgrade from Galaxy S.
1. Bluetooth 3.0 becomes Bluetooth 2.1
2. moviNAND becomes iNAND
3. No microSD card slot
4. No 720p video recording
Of course there are some good things with the Nexus S
1. Android 2.3 and software support from Google (No more Samsung!)
2. Contour Display
3. Near Field Communications (NFC)
4. Three-axis gyroscope
5. Anti-fingerprint display coating
6. Flash for camera
7. Maybe better GPS
However, to me, the only real advantage with Nexus S is software support (and GPS if it's true). Hardware-wise, Nexus S is not as good as Galaxy S. I think the best would be the Nexus S rom gets ported to Galaxy S.

You may have done a lot for the sgs community but please do refrain from advertising your rom here.

I heard that he makes good roms for droid users and a great dev as well. Pete makes roms for our devices and its outstanding!

His Bugless Beast rom for the OG Droid is legendary in the Android community..he's almost like another Cyanogen apparently.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
What makes his involvement so great is that he makes really good roms, put it this way. The Droid 3 is out and people are still rocking the OG Droid with Bugless beast. Yeah he's been here since the beginning but this means he'll be making roms for our NS4Gs
Dude you gotta try his Rom its freaking awesome. It's super fast and has the best battery life. Can't wait to see what additions he has in store in the future

[REQ] PARANOIDANDROID Port?

This ROM is very unique and practically one of a kind, my question is: is anyone (or even the creator himself) willing to port this over to the crespo and crespo4g? I realize how much of a screen size difference between the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S/4G is, and I know that it won't be completely the same, but isn't it worth a try? The tablet mode mod is cool and all but everything is so small and practically unreliable. Hybrid mode, however, is completely different.
Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619582
Can it be done?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
that is freaking awesome! come on devs, please set up to the plate
I'd be willing to donate once this is ported!
I'd agree. This would be pretty epic.
Yes this would be something refreshing.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
I thought this would have been asked already. It definitely looks nice. I am pretty sure the original dev will help with info as long as proper credit is given
love this rom
i am more than willing to donate a cool amount of cash to see this as a working rom .
Is it more different than tablet UI than? Looks the same?

Farewell from me.

Well after playing with the galaxy note i bought for my gf a few days ago, i decided i couldn't take it any longer so i went to phones 4 u and asked what they could do for me. They have paid what i had left on my contract 7 months early for me and given me a galaxy s2 for free on a £20.50 p/m orange contract.
Not a bad deal i don't think.
I'll still pop in every now and then though as i still have a wildfire at home and dont want to get rid of my introduction to android, thanks to everyone that has shared anything i used and for teaching me how to get the best out of my phone.

Mate, that was quick lol. The itch took over quicker than i expected. Sg2 is prob my realistic expectation too and for about the same £pm but on 3. Keep in touch mucca and all the best with the new toy. Its gonna be like losing an arm
I was just about to post another thread but oh well
Yesterday I received my HTC One S on contracts, 25.92 p/m for 12 months, 260 or something upfront.D) I've always loved Willy, he is the best legend to date and I don't think I can sell him
Being with Willy has been a rollercoaster, I learnt about rooting through it, my first two roots were with two Wildfires. I couldn't take Sense anymore, so I got CM7, and then eventually we got CM9!! (Well done to Erwin, if I can find his donation link I will most definitely donate)
I'll still hang around on the CM9 thread and a few others, though now I'll mostly post on the One S forums, hope to see you guys there
cya
Congrats! See ya around on the S2 section!
Bye scratch and thanks to all your work.
We'll all definitely miss you here
*SNIFF*
Here goes another valuable member from the wildfire forum.
BTW maybe you'll see me soon in the SGS2 forum.
If not then I'll go for a galaxy note (I like big screens )
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk 2
Thanks everyone and Congrats on the one s mate, hope you enjoy it as much as i am the s2. I thought id wait a little while before rooting but ended up rooting it today, its a bit confusing reading all the info but i ended up doing it in 3 and a half minutes without even touching my pc........
First flashed temp cwm from stock recovery, then flashed supersu to get root, after that boot into recovery and flashed siyah kernel. Full cwm, root and plenty of tweaks to play with. Just need to decide on a Rom now.
Oh...... The note is a real beast of a phone, hope you have big hands our lass doesn't.

Thanks everyone and scratch, I haven't managed to root mine yet - we don't have Revolutionary yet, and I'm scared if I root it using HTCDev they won't take my phone in for service if I ever need it. And there aren't many ROMs, most are Sense 4.0 based, except for the Alpha 10 CM9 port!

Gl with your new phone, i ditched one s because they are not shipping it with krait here and are using piece of crap s3 instead.
Really crappy move from htc.
Now i dont know which one to get, plastic fantastic samsung is not for me, all others either, so that only leaves me with htc. They ruined a perfect phone.
