Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - GSM Arena - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

GSM arena has some info on what might be N2.
And I just bought a S3 due to the rumors.
5.5" screen
Also rumored is an 8MP camera with improved sensor, as well as 1.5 GB of RAM, along with a new Exynos 5250 chipset, featuring a dual-core ARM-15 processor. 4G connectivity will allegedly come standard for all international units.
---
I think that the N2 atleast should have a quadcore at 1.6Ghz, 2GB of RAM...
But, let's see what hapends, I have ordered the S3 (With a Beats Pro headset ) and if the N2 kicks ass...I might sell the S3 again for the N2...
Source:
http://www.gsmarena.com/galaxy_note_2_allegedly_scheduled_for_october_2012-news-4334.php

I dont think n2 will have quad core and 2gb ram,
first, if n2 use top spec, what is the selling point for s3/4?
Second, now quad core is base on a9, the mentioned dual core is base on a15
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium HD app

if it goes with quad cpu like s3, then resolution will be the same, if resolution will be same, no point to make bigger screen.
So in my theory:
if goes with 5250 eynos, resolution and screen will be bigger
if with quad cpu, resolution and screen will be same

haha, I was right with my comic strip day before yesterday at the Note 2 rumormil thread.

GSMArena used the same source as the other guy who posted this in the general forum.
It's bogus.
Go read it. It's completely ridiculous.

This is how rumors get started.
A blogspam site ("ubuntulife") posted poorly written speculation a few days ago. I believe mobilesyrup picked it up and now gsmarena.
This is basically the equivalent of the blind leading the blind. Except in this case they're stupid. But maybe also blind, too.
This is also why "blogs" and "bloggers" aren't respected. They don't follow the tenets of journalism, aren't double checking their facts and sources, aren't expected to have any sort of journalistic integrity, have no accountability, don't follow style guides, don't have knowledge of the law regarding what/when/how they can write certain things and never had to attend school and/or receive certification to blog.
I expect this bogus "story" to fully make the rounds of the Internet.

Not necessarily. It depends on what their competitor's offerings are at the time. Samsung may be forced to move in the dual core A15 2.0ghz by end of the year depending on what HTC, Apple, Motorola shove into their devices.

When you think about it it makes sense to have two flagship models from a business point of view then they can almost always claim that they have the best hardware
And with that logic we can't make any prediction about n2 hardware until we see what competitors markets as an s3 killer
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

I think the S3 and Note 2 will tackle 2 different markets - the more tech guys/teenagers and especially people who already have an S2 will opt for the most popular phone by following the market trend, which is the S3. While business users/people who take notes regularly & those who prefer larger screen, will opt for the Note2. If you look at all the Android phones that are released recently or will be released, there is not 1 single phone that is appealing except the S3. It's a win/win situation for Samsung and the company seems to be on a winning stride with its flagship phones.

My guess is Note2 will be sharing the same hardware (SoC) as the SGS3, like they did with the SGS2 and Note1, i would be happy with it, but if i may choose i rather have the dualcore A15.
Only time will tell...

Samsung's Galaxy S II to have a Tegra 2 version

Just as we lay to rest the ghost of a phantom Tegra 2 chip inside the LG Revolution, here comes the specter of another unconfirmed appearance for NVIDIA's dual-core application processor, this time inside Samsung's Galaxy S II. If you'll recall, we were initially informed by Samsung's PR crew that their new Android flagship would run on NVIDIA's hardware, however a subsequent correction informed us that the processor inside would in fact be Samsung's own Exynos. Now, it turns out, both might be true. AnandTech have come across some benchmark results showing a GT-i9103 with Tegra 2 listed as its grunt provider, while Pocket-lint and others have noted that Samsung's own spec sheet for the Galaxy S II states that the dual-core Exynos "may not be applicable in some regions." The likeliest scenario here is that Samsung hasn't yet reached sufficient volumes with its own processor production and will rely on NVIDIA's Tegra 2 for handsets outside its critical markets -- much in the same vein as it replaced Super AMOLED with Super Clear LCD screens in Russia and some other territories. Don't fret too much, though, performance disparities between the two aren't likely to be overly significant.

How annoying will it be to develop custom roms for the upcoming Galaxy S II.
All I want is a non-keyboard rocking 4g LTE/WIMAX Galaxy S2 Variant for Sprint, it's either that or I buy the Galaxy S II and stay with the expensive deathstar (ATT)!

there has been conflicting reports
but my understanding is that is doesn't have a tegra 2
but has a dual core version of samsungs own hummingbird.
Well the hummingbird processors aren't bad...I said I wouldnt b buying another sammy phone but if the phone ends up looking like the "leaked" photo then I will have to buy it...super amoled 4.3 inch screen eill b yummy

If its true, which one would be better ?
for sure samsung will use tegra 2 in i9103 for some countries
from everything ive seen tegra2 is better.. sigh i want tegra2 with samoled+ screen, tegra2 has better graphics and better java and flash rendering.. which honestly is all that matters, since nothing is delayed on the galaxy s1 right now except the internet..
I did read a post (I think it was on engadget) that said, the Samsung galaxy s 2s that have a tegra 2 CPU will also have a LCD screen and not a amoled.

Anandtech did some benchmark testing in Barcelona.
http://www.anandtech.com/Show/Index...i-preliminary-performance-mali400-benchmarked
But the SW used at that conference (and maybe the HW since the phone gets very hot according to Anandtech) is probably not finished.
And benchmarks can be unreliable.
Unoptimised drivers is what it falls down to. Tegra has been around for longer, so it most likely has been optimised better.
Just need to wait and see.
Yeah, and samsung is well known for developping great drivers and software, which is updated regularly, just like the SGS had great performances out of the box thanx to the clever use of RFS
I do agree that it's to soon to know exactly how it will perform, but I wouldn't count too much on samsung improving performances :-/

That actually depends. There is a get it now button on games that have been released. The preview games don't have that. Also some games aren't available in all regions. An example on which it worked was dungeon defenders.
First I was like yay because Tegra 2 is awesome, but then I began thinking and yeah this is going to be a damn mess.
We could get the forum split up in GT-I9100 (Exynos version) and GT-I9103 (Tegra 2 version) and the damage could decrease, but it will still split up the Galaxy S II community on here and it depends what version the ROM makers are going to buy, unless there is no difference between the GT-I9100 and the GT-I9103 except for that it has a different SoC I don't see the big problem
I wonder whether the shortage of Exynos chips could be due to Apple's A5. At this point nobody knows what the A5 is, however the A4 was Sammy's Hummingbird so the A5 could just be the Exynos...
Guess we'll find out on the 11th.

Hahaha, great...I guess we can compare the ''mystical" waiting for something like GB 2.3.4,ICS is a religious waiting for some...also the ranting over phones and OS's is sometimes more fun to watch than the religious ranting
As for the S3 specs, two cents:
- we're all gonna have the option to get a Sammy official gear a lead acid carry on bag to get a decent battery life. AOS is huge on 2 [email protected] GHz, just imagine on a quad [email protected] 2.0.....
- who the hell needs a quad core? multicores were developed with performance in mind, BUT also in order to SAVE power...exactly the opposite behavior on SGS2...WTF? they can't optimize the GB for two cores, what's next: the phone that makes the party as a grill replacement device?
PS. I forgot, this is a "some devs" directed question: WITH 4 CORES, 3 SECS WAKE-UP LAG SHOULD BE REGARDED AS ACCEPTABLE, RIGHT?

Two main issues with SGS2as it stands today-2.3.6: battery draining to Aos\wakelock and wake-up lag. Did you see any of these issues solved yet? No.
Extrapolate to 2.0G quadcore and 4.65 screen.
Lol what? A 2ghz quad-core? And my desktop is still just dual-core . I'm definitely not buying a phone that is more powerful than my PC

There was plenty of speculation what kind of CPU powered the new iPhone 5 and in the end it turned out to be a custom Apple design. So, how well did the Cupertino-based company did? According to an unverified Geekbench results, A6more than meets the 2x performance increase Apple promised.
The results are nothing short of amazing - the Apple A6 chipset has two custom cores rated at 1GHz with 1GB of RAM and it easily stands up to quad-core Cortex-A9 and dual-core Krait designs running at 1.5GHz.
The iPhone 5 has more than double the CPU performance of the 4S, beating it in every category that Geekbench tests. The RAM has gotten faster too. Even the A5X in the new iPad can't compete (understandable as A5X only improves GPU performance over the A5).
As for high-end Androids, Exynos 4 Quad and Tegra 3 based phones like the Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X manage to outperform the iPhone 5 if they are running Android Jelly Bean. Under Ice Cream Sandwich, the performance of the One X drops down to the levels of the iPhone.
The HTC One S and its two Krait cores manage to match the iPhone 5 under Ice Cream Sandwich, so it should come out slightly ahead.
Just for fun, here's a dual-core Pentium 4 541 (Prescott architecture) downclocked to 2.4GHz matching the performance of the iPhone 5. This CPU came out in Q3 of 2004.
If these benchmark results do turn out to be from the iPhone 5 (results can be faked, so take it with a grain of salt) then Apple must have worked some serious magic. The Apple A6 chipset makes even Krait cores look slow (again, it's 1GHz vs. 1.5GHz).

All with JB leaks beats iPhone 5 score...
i think the benchmarking tool is a bit of weird. The One S also scored 1.5k... Not X but S.... S4 processor. Maybe it does not really use all the 4 cores?
the benchmark tool is useless... its more OS based then anything... change your launcher that u use and u'll get a different score every time...

I think they used the US S3 which is dual cored, instead of the international S3. That's why the scores are lower.
1.Why post this on here?
2.A newer phone that is somehow faster....really? is that how technology works, well if it is then I guess the SGS4 to be even faster, and the SGS5, and I will go as far to say that the SGS24 will be greater still.
i think a lot of you who post Samsung s3 vs. whatever is insecure and are those who always want to have the best or be the best. People are competitive by nature but being obsessive, wasting your time and energy on products that serve the same purpose is a bit overkill. My advise is to find a cure for the disease you have. Samsung to unveil Galaxy S4 at CES 2013

With the Galaxy S3 being a huge success for Samsung, all eyes are on their S4 to follow up on that and Samsung isn’t slacking. In fact, looks like they’re already working on it and have plans to debut it early next year.

Rumors are already abound with the specs of the device, which include a 4.99-inch, Full HD Super AMOLED screen, a pixel density of 441 ppi, Adonis Exynos 5400 Series Chipset, at least 2GB of RAM, and an Cortex-A15 processor. Also, better contrast and refresh rates along with lower power consumption is in the cards. And Mobile Choice reports that Samsung plans to demo the phone at CES 2013 to release it on March 2013 instead of its usual summer release.
First glimpse of Samsung Galaxy S IV coming soon
19 Nov 2012
First glimpse of Samsung Galaxy S IV coming soon
Company likely to show off 5-inch full HD display in January
Screens are becoming a key battleground when it comes to smartphones these days, so it's no surprise to hear that Samsung is set to show off the screen for its next flagship smartphone ahead of the phone itself.
Samsung will demonstrate a 4.99-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display at CES 2013, according to sources in Korea, who in turn cite inside sources from the company. The AMOLED panel is said to be 'very thin', with low power consumption, as well as high contrast and refresh rate. It also has 441ppi pixel density, which is more or less perfect human vision.
All well and good, but the problem right now is Samsung's ability to turn that technology into mass production. If the company can do that (and we really wouldn't be surprised of they do), the screen will be the one used in the Samsung Galaxy S IV, which is scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2013.
Offering a full HD AMOLED will be a huge and unique selling point, so we suspect Samsung is currently working round the clock to get those production methods just right. If you happen to be anywhere a Samsung installation and you hear the sound of breaking glass, that's probably what is going on.
Regardless of that, the test screen should be shown off in less than a couple of months. We'll be there to get eyes-on to see it in action.

Rumors note 3 (photo)

The rumors of the next generation Samsung Galaxy Note phablet are growing thick and fast. An alleged image of the Galaxy Note III phablet has appeared online, sporting a 5.9-inch display.
According to a report from MyDrivers, the upcoming Galaxy Note phablet will feature a Full HD display and packs a punch with the company's own Exynos 5410 Octa processor, with the four powerful Cortex A15 chips clocked at 2.0 GHz, and the remaining four power-saving Cortex A7 chips running at 1.7 GHz.
Samsung Galaxy Note III is said to come with 3 GB of RAM and will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Furthermore, the phablet is rumored to be unveiled during IFA 2013.

I agree, the phone doesn't quite look high enough quality. I'd be suprised if they made the bezzle that big or the home button that small. I'm also hoping that they wont make the handset that much bigger than the note 2.

Umm rumours seems to contradict themselves. We have confirmation that the Note III will have Unbreakable flexible OLED(720p) screen.
The First Flexible AMOLED Display to be launched in Q4’2013
So maybe THIS post is right. There will be 2 versions, One full HD(glass) and one 720p(flexible plastic)

We don't have confirmation of nothing, note 3 will not be 720p flexible screen and the one of the photo it is a poor chinese imitation like thousands others.

I don't know why you say we don't have confirmation. The source comes from the OLED association, it's pretty solid. And yes it will be 720p. We know they can't produce enough flexible screen for the market so logic dictates that they will have two versions.
And yes, even on the Mydrivers website the chinese comments all says the phone is a fake.
Because the "oled association" is not Samsung and they don't have any papers about the future devices of any brand as all of them are secret projects to avoid industrial espionage, so until samsung says that, it is fake.
Also, note it is a top device of samsung who cannot sell low specs like 720p, so likely the device with the new unbreakable screen with 720p will be a new one to test the market, not the second bestseller of samsung.

Well the news is from OLED Association but the info comes from SDC(Samsung Display Corporation). And if you read it doesn't say "rumours" anywhere.
Note III is a top device yes, so it should have top technology. Being the first device in the world to have a flexible unbreakable screen is not a little thing even if it is only a 720p. If having a 0.5mm flexible 720p(opposed to 1.5mm glass) means getting a bigger battery, I say go for it Samsung. I would buy a Note III with 4500mAh battery and 720p screen anytime.
