I was hoping some post this here.
I wanted to know have you checked on stock kernel does it supports touchscreen work.
if not can anyone test and suggest which all kernels are supporting it and not.

I got Aroma installer in X10S v8.2 addon zip (for unlock bootlaoader) and had no problem on stock or custom kernel.
However I never tried on fxp kernel.
For info there's a menu in aroma installer to config the touchscreen, values must be written in the config file (aroma config).
The only restriction for now is that Aroma installer is using Edify script so may cause problem on locked bootloader ... doesn't copy files or else ...
@Feravolt
Thanks for this thread !!!
About the script for locked bootloader did you have time to look at it ?
It would be very nice to include it directly in kernel .. maybe it could solve the problem with lock bootloader ?

Hi OP
Below is the latest Aroma File Manager's newest features :
- Terminal Emulator.
- Set Permissions.
- Auto screen calib.
Bugs :
- File copy, paste and move function from Internal Memory into SD Card (and vice versa).
- Scrolling Touch for X10, have to use volume buttons.
Any chance for X10 to have this recovery tool to be integrated in Kernel (for GB, ICS and JB) ?
Just incase if no backup file, PC/Laptop arround to repaire bootloop or bricked phone, easily .
Thanks in advance

[Q] Wildfire with v2 or v3 Hermes?

Okey I have a question if someone could answer. I'm pretty noobish at this stuff so I would appreciate if someone can help me out.
I have HTC Wildfire with PS freedom and Open Manager 1.13 and everything works fine exept controller problem in some games like Rock Band 2 and F1. it allways shows guitar as Microphone and it does that only in rock band 2, RB 1 works fine.
I've heared Hermes V3 or V4 fix it, so is there any way I can fix this? I have PS freedom with recovery custom rom and it gives me this options in recovery mode:
- Allow Backup
- Allow Backup + Peek & Poke syscalls
- Homebrew Only
- Homebrew Only + Peek & Poke syscalls
- Possibility to load other payloads from SDCARD
So if anyone can tell me step by step what I should do to fix it?
you can have a look at this http://208.100.42.21/showthread.php?t=793185&page=3
i think it needs to change the payload to hermes v3
Okey thanks blurapple for the tip but I found it by myself.
Even tho this payload I found was in forum for XPERIA it's working on HTC Wildfire. So now my controller works perfect. If anyone have similar problem here is what I did:
I cant post links here, so you will have to search for PS Freedom Xperia Walkthrough on this forum. There you will find a guy who attached hermes V3 payload and all instruction you need.
I didn't acctually need to type any commands to my terminal, as I'm running PS freedom custom rom which gives me possibility to load other payloads from SD card while my phone is in recovery mode which is way easyer then typing in terminal everytime. So all I needed to do is copy payload_hermesV3.bin to /proc/psfreedom/payload folder on my SD card, and from recovery I went to load custom rom and pointed to above folder.
If you want you can search for PS freedom wiki wildfire, and there you will find recovery rom, which will make you to have ps freedom in recovery mode so you dont need to boot your phone or type commands in terminal everytime you wanna run psfreedom.
PL3 is better than Hermes V3, check kakaroto's blog: http://kakaroto.homelinux.net/2010/10/ps3-why-i-dont-like-the-hermes-payload/
alephzain did a great job by adding PL3 to Wildfire_PSfreedom port, plus other nice features.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8690038&postcount=83
Yeah I was reading about PL3, but how do I acctually make it to work? I mean I would like to know where do I put things from PL3.. on my phone, usb HDD or somewhere else, as there's no .bin files in PL3.
Cause while my phone is in recovery mode custom loader only recognize .bin file. I would appriciate helping me where do I put all those things which are in PL3, cause there are lot of folders and other things..
and yeah alphezain did do great job for doing recovery image which I'm using and it only allows you to use psfreedom from recovery mode on your phone so no need to use terminal or have your phone full booted, but that's not with PL3 payload as I didn't have my controllers working proprelly until I didn't load custom hermes V3 payload as I described in post above.
Hermes v3
Please guys info how to load Hermes v3 payload i still get payload fail in psfreedom in recovery menu.
lets wait for alephzain reply, i got black screen when try to use backup manager or other pkg tools
OK, get it work, the issue was from my PS3, there were 3 stucked DVD's in my PS3 (It was my kid who did it ^_^, I will give him super nitendo to play with and destroy)

I explaind to you how you can make it to work.
1st you need to get new Unrevoked for wildfire, then you need to download custom recovery rom with psfreedom support from web page PSFreedom Wildfire wiki. Launch unrEVOked recovery tool and select the recovery custom rom to flash (File -> Custom recovery) When done, just boot into recovery every time you need to jailbreak your PS3.
2nd look for this post on this forum http://208.100.42.21/showthread.php?t=778986&page=8
you will find hermes v3 it's made for Xperia but it's working fine on my wildfire.
copy payload_hermesV3.bin to /proc/psfreedom/payload folder on your SD card, and while your phone is in recovery mode go to psfreedom then to load custom rom and point to the folder proc/psfreedom/payload.
hermes v3
Yes and i followed step by step everything it's ok until i go in the menu Launch PSF i select load from sdcard i select the payload hermes v3 and then i have error loading payload.

Okey I know what's wrong. There was an update at wildfire wiki for recovery rom, and in this update you have wilfire with kakaroto's PL3 payload, not hermes. And people claim it's even better then hermes.
So what you need to do is go in the menu Launch PSF and then you go to launch PSF and do jailbreak on PS3. You will even have leds on your cell change colour as the original PS Jailbreak do.
Even tho I had some problems with default version of payload, when I went to backup manager and loaded any games, when I put the disc inside it showed me original game. I was able to fix it by goin to PSF, load from SDCARD then point to PSFREEDOM/Payload_dev_3_41.bin
And if you did everything right you should have psfreedom folder created when you installed psf-buzz-101710_222457.zip file. If not you need to go to install zip from SDcard and then you should have folder and lots of payloads inside.
If you still want to use Hermes v3, you will have to look for a previous version of custom recovery rom which is also at HTC wildfire wiki, just need to look for previous version.
Thanks
Manny thanks for your info it really helped i will try to see if Heavy rain and F1 work with default payload if not i will try the other recovery image and hermes payload.
Oh yeah and one more thing... Open backup manager seems like it doesnt want to work with kakaroto, so I'm using gaia manager which works fine with PL3. Eyepet move didn't work to me before and now it's working.
I've been testing PL3 a lot with alphzain custom recovery rom, and I had lot of problems with it, so I've decided to use the previous custom recovery rom where you can load payload and loaded hermes v4. I dont have any problems with it on my HTC Wildfire, and I just tested F1 2010 with it and it's working smooth. Savegame and controllers are working, while with PL3 I had savegame problems + I couldn't use Open Manager.

Would you be able to provide links to all the files you've used and just like how to use them. I've managed to use the original PS Freedom for wildfire and install open manager etc. but I haven't been able to flash the custom recovery.
Just links to what you've used, and what to do with them would be amazing
Thanks.

Okey well I can't provide links here, but you should read previous posts I been writing before, it's explained where you need to go.
What I used is psfreedom custom rom which you can find on psfreedom wildfire wiki, but it will automaticlly take you to the newest version with PL3. So if you don't wanna use it with PL3, on the same page below you will find the link for the old version which just have PSfreedom but from your phone recovery, and ability to load custom payloads. Hint: google for hermesV4.bin type exaclly as I did. Put it on your SDCARD anywhere you want it, and when you are in recovery mode go to load custom payload and point to directory you put it
To install custom recovery rom you need to use unrevoked as I explained in previous posts.
Hope this helps you!

I think you not read post about updates! If you see old post you will see aligment is fixed, sd card is fixed (android market works!). You need this:
- replace with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=560477&d=1301942854
- replace zImage with this, install keylayout http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12532884&postcount=387
Reboot phone
Hm.. with the kernel you posted, my wifi no longer works. with the Kernel from your package it worked.
In settings it just shows "error".
Finaly I made new system image with proper linking, group & user permissions, totally rebuilded from begining. Some initrd fixes... and good news is:
- on first use you will see diference from previos image and this new image
- full working adb (previous image version is not ok becouse when you use win-adb, adb is not working correctly, some links was not found, some files was not found...etc)
- full root permisions (include popup window when you execute command su from android terminal emulator)
- installed busybox and linked to /system/xbin
- working android market
- auto created and activated 200mb swap
- internal phone storage 512mb
- working DHCP (now, you not need to enter static IP for wifi!!)
- auto detecting and installing (Asia-HK-CHT, Asia-TW-CHT, zh) carrier
All other i'm not tested, maybe we have other working previously not working!
Here is all you need (full installation) including all fixes, all drivers, keylayouts...etc (you must delete all previous instalations including all files and folders created by android!)

whether you can post a new post, and the latest and the most comprehensive publication on the ROM, which like this, to alter this post after being on the top or being renewed sometimes later.

[ROM] NoName V1.5 (ZCKPA/ONEPACKAGE/ARABIC-URDU-FARSI ADDED/RTL FIXED)

TESTERS NEEDED
so i just finish porting/adding arabic, urdu and farsi language/locale to this rom. basic things like making calls, messaging, wifi, usb connection works but i need to know if theres any bug exist. so i need anyone who mainly use those three language to do further test, feel free to pm me and ill give the link to this new arabic ported build. no dont be scared, this will not bricked ur phone, it installed and boot just fine. im actually using this rite now. i just need to know if theres any other bugs because i dont understand those added language, such as translation error, menu out of order when using ported language or anything at all.
changelog v1.5:
1- added arabic, urdu and farsi locale/language.
2- added fonts to support those three language.
3- removed lg keyboard, added swype which support arabic, urdu and farsi locale/language.
4- rtl fixed, character shaping works on default browser (see screenshot).
5- removed touchwiz launcher and replace it with zeam launcher.
6- removed default mms.apk, replaced it with mms.apk taken from htc desire.
7- updated gmail to v2.3.5 without signature permissions.
8- added facebook 2.0 apk.
9- filesystem is still ext4 but this time unjournalled ext4.
10- because im completely decompile/compile all apks one by one to add those three language, basicly all those apks were compressed abit more so this time theres more internal storage free compared to earlier v1. on fresh install, after installing 3-4 apps from market i still had 18mb free in /system/apps now.
11- remove qualcom bootanimation, uses default samsung's now.
12- cwm 4.0.0.9 smaller image file by 1-2mb, taken from ketut's cfroot b-82.
13- true onepackage install. no need to update kernel via cwm after odin install like previous build, cfroot b-80 already integrated in odin one package install.
sceenshots v1.5:
end of updated post. below is from previous v1. i'll edit it when this v1.5 is ready for public.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
what u'll get with this:
1- based on ZCKPA china fw but on first boot uses english.
2- unique feature that only for ZCKPA which is triple network mode selection (dualmode, 2g only, 3g only) and advance call managing (reject call with message, auto reject, auto reject list, phone number locator, ip call, etc etc...)
3- deodex and pre rooted.
4- full ext4 filesystem.
5- cfroot B-80 kernel.
6- cwm 4.0.0.9.
7- lg keyboard.
8- hostfile modified to block ads.
9- gapps preinstalled.
10- darktremore a2sd should work by default.
11- added a2sdgui.
12- super smooth phone with help of fugutweaks patch v0.1.
13- huge apn list combined from XWKPN, DXKP9 and ZCKPA itself.
14- near to stock ZCKPA rom. just remove some chinese app to free some space.
14- maybe more.. too lazy to remember rite now.

3- download MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition, install it and use it to format ur sdcard as two primary partition, 1st partition as fat32 and the 2nd as ext4. take note that u should use a usb card reader to plug ur sdcard to ur pc when do partitoning job, its dangerous to partition ur sdcard directly while its still on ur phone and not adviseable to do so.
4- put CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b80_boot.zip on root of ur sdcard.
5- reboot ur phone into cwm and do "wipe cache partition".
6- turn off ur phone, take out ur simcard and put ur freshly partitioned sdcard inside it.
7- boot ur phone into download mode and connect it to ur pc (please double check that sdcard IS in the device but simcard IS NOT in it).
8- run odin 4.42 and tick at one package.
9- for ops use Cooper_NoName.ops that u got from my extracted archive earlier. dont use other ops file, strictly just use what i gave u.
10- at one package option, navigate to S5830ZCKPA.NoName.v1.tar and choose it.
11- cross ur finger and flash ur device. ur device should automatically reboot if everything goes to plan.
12- first boot can take a little bit of time. when it finally boot, restart ur device into cwm and flash CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b80_boot.zip(see step 4).
13- enjoy ur phone

Pretty hard to install I say! Can u make it more easy? Like just Open ODIN & flash via 1 package?
wow great, will try this one, thanks for your effort.
I think partitioning is not necessary for those who have already partitioned their card.
We can just flash this via odin as one file and if successfully booted flash cf-root then reboot and flash gapps for the market and other google apps.
Your instruction will harvest many questions.Make it easy.

reason:
1- its gingerbread 2.3.4.
2- its has louder volume.
3- lockscreen lag is minimal, almost like xwkpn.

4- just to be different from other rom which mostly use xwkpn as base

Hmm i getting problem login into google acc. Seems like som kind of permission problem when installing gapps from zip flashable file. Think i should create another build. Next todo list:
1- remove some chinese app from system. Those app really takes huge space while i hardly believe anyone use it because its in chinese language.
2- maybe wait for next cfroot release that should bring smartass cpu governor. Btw im using kpn wifi module to make cfroot works with this rom. Dirty hacks here and there. So in theory, if the next cfroot still support kpn rom, it should also works with this rom.
3- gapss installed by default.
4- maybe rtl fix.
5- tun.ko, cifs.ko and other module preinstalled.
6- port seilent´s frozen winter theme. God how i love that theme

[ROM] Acer_A500 OTA 7.014.14 [HC 3.2.1] Rooted w/ Busybox for CWM [Jan 6th, 2012] EOL

ROM: (HonnyComb)
Here is an ACER 3.2.1 near stock android image installable via clockwork recovery.
(Tested on a Wifi only acer a500)
[size=+2]acer7.014.14_CUST_ROOT_BBv4_S.zip[/size]
(MD5: cfd6ecee33891cc8e6e2625e8ea89511)
Note: April 30, 2012: The stock kernel will work both on HoneyComb and unlocked (v3) ICS bootloaders
Note: May 18, 2012: The update, no wipe required, to this ICS rom is now posted here this thread will remain for anyone remaining on HC
Simply install via clockwork or RA recovery; if you have a rooted and mostly unmodified version of HC 3.1/3.2 currently it may be possible to use this install without a wipe (4.010.41 users are likely to have the best results); However make sure you backup first just in case.
Users of the previous (acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv2) version may safely upgrade without a wipe however the following is recommended: 1) wipe dalvik cache in the advance menu of CWM recovery, 2) you may need to the apps menu to get the new market icon (my previous homescreen shortcut was no longer valid but the one in the app list worked without a problem, as making a new shortcut)
Last if you notice slowdowns or forcequits withing 24/48h of upgrading before reporting them try going into recovery and running both "fix permissions" and "clear dalvik cache" then boot the tablet waiting for the logon screen to appear and the screen to dim and turn off before using the tablet. At this point you van use the tablet normally.
This file is based off the OTA update: Acer_A500_4.010.41_7.006.01_COM_GEN1_1315966386585_07733ac7.zip subequently updated to 7.014.14_COM_GEN1 by manually extracted these images
(As was sent via OTA here in canada)
Modification Log:
I've made the following changes to the original OTA files:
decrypted and configured for installation from clockwork recovery
remove the bootloader flash (Separate analysis will be required to tell if this is safe) If so it is still not useful in a rooted Clockwork rom install, since in future it may become a downgrade not an update.
remove recovery flasher
remove both OTA cert and original ca_certs in favor of the cacert by guardianproject
Add a version of busybox (built in my HTC Dream rom ezGingerbread build tree using target utility_busybox from the commit https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_external_busybox/tree/995d0d35bde285)
make busybox the default shell
Include Superuser/su
configure runparts (runs scripts in /system/etc/init.d) only a "Welcome" script is included however if you wish to run any script on startup you can do so by adding them to your /system/etc/init.d directory)
Note this rom is still odexed
(v2) fix she-bang on am, bmgr, ime, input, monkey, pm, svc shell scripts
(v3) incorporate "Skype Fix" into rom, thus no need to flash a second file to fix skype video calls (obviously you still need to install skype from market)
(v3) incorporate "wifi fix" for infinate DHCP leases, unfortinatly this was still not working in the base rom, however the fix is now part of this install.
(v3) uninstall Future Dial (acer updater) this prevents the system update from appearing in the menu/background, as it won't work anyway with the modificaitons
(v3) rebased to Acer A500 7.014.14_COM_GEN1 (previously 7.006.01_COM_GEN1)
(v3) SuperUser updated to v3.0.7
(v3) Set wifi only by default (if you need otherwise you will need to comment out the last line of the build.prop file, information in the comment above said line)
(v4) Remove extra market related files (merge errors from the acer patches); this ensures the new version of market runs properly (thanks to civato for pointing this out)
* entries starting with (vN) - indicates fixed/added in version N, ie (v2) indicates fixed in version 2 and on
Additional Information:
This is a very simple set of changes that ought to allow rooted users looking for a basic version of Honeycomb 3.2 (and now 3.2.1) safely update without loosing root. Its intended for users that wish a minimally modified rom with root. Either to be used as a rooted stock rom as is; or to be a base to make other small modifications as needed.
As such I'm more likely to provide addons than changing the base rom its self. (excluding any bugs of my creation or new official releases form ACER)
Note the kernel is the stock kernel from acer. Acer's A500 kernel source code can be found at here
FYI: You may use this as a base for other roms as long as credit is given with a link back to this thread where reasonable.

~~-- Stock Kernel Modules --~~
Here are some kernel modules for the stock acer kernel
(Tested both on acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv2_S, and acer7.014.14_CUST_ROOT_BBv3/acer7.014.14_CUST_ROOT_BBv4)

Since I'm having problems with a corrupt tar.gz file with the latest posted [by acer0] a500 kernel code; these have been built from the a501 version with a a500 config. (the "Application Guide (for Android 3.2 HoneyComb" posted on 9/19) Hopefully this will not be an issue but let me know if you have any issues with the modules (I've checked they load but not that they are fully functional)
~~-- Villain Iconia Kernel --~~
(Tested both on acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv2_S, and acer7.014.14_CUST_ROOT_BBv3/acer7.014.14_CUST_ROOT_BBv4)
Here is a re-bundle of the Villain Iconia kernel (original zImage form richardtrip) The installer however has been modified since we now need a new ramdisk image than the one previously bundled with the kernel.
V3.7
acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BB_Villain_iconia_kernel_3.7_S.zip

For more information including source code see Villain_iconia_kernel_3.4.zip from Stock/HV/Taboonay V3.4 for HC 3.2 10-09 - 1.64Ghz/UV control
(This will let you overclock and access some more modules, but I've found the stock kernel overall more stable)

~~-- Skype(tm) Patch --~~
Fixes video calls on market skype client
skypepatch_7.006.01v2_S.zip
MD5: 99cadf8c5b8eca25aa60b38aa83ec91a
Flash from recovery; and install skype form market as usual (or open it if already installed) video options will appear in settings.
Details of the problem/solution and the patch are in this post
(Note this has been built in on V3 and thus is no longer needed on that version)
~~-- Netflix --~~
Install from market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient&feature=search_result
If you previously installed a modified version such as the one modified to play on the a500 without breaking video you will need to uninstall the modified version prior to installing the market version.
~~-- Cell Standby fix/option --~~
If you are seeing Cell standby in your battery use simply add ro.carrier=wifi-only to your build.prop
Via adb:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
echo 'ro.carrier=wifi-only' >> /system/build.prop
sync
reboot
Via terminal/local connectbot
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
echo 'ro.carrier=wifi-only' >> /system/build.prop
sync
reboot
(Note this has been built in on V3 and thus is no longer needed on that version)
~~-- SuperUser 3.0 update --~~
We need to flash the rom manager update, but as rom manager is not yet working on this tab get the update zip and flash in recovery:
su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip
Md5: c05902fdf90f7635c711e4dcd1c32c45
(Note this has been built in on V3 and thus is no longer needed on that version)

This version had an error in the she-bang of the included scripts such as pm, v2 corrected this to the expected '#!/system/bin/sh'
To save bandwidth I'm not providing the original file; however you can re-generate it with the following binary diff:
On a linux computer with the bsdiff package installed run:
Code:
bspatch acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv2_S.zip acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv1_S.zip acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv2_to_v1.bsdiff
Using the v2 version and acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv2_to_v1.bsdiff
[size=+1]v2: acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv2_S.zip[/size]
MD5: b254140896742f3deec464c094fb2515
Longtime running version very stable, however some users have had some minor issues correctable by the above patches.
[size=+1]v3: acer7.014.14_CUST_ROOT_BBv3_S.zip
[/size]
MD5: c734317089d323dffde9c7d4fe7afce4
Inital upgrade to 7.014.14 had some issues with extra market related files, if you are running this version it is recommended to upgrade to V4 or (if you wish to avoid the download and the cost to me of the bandwidth) follow the instructions here to manually make the same change yourself.

I still needed the patch (you will need to apply it by hand)
I hear rumor's [but have not spotted it first hand] of some library that works with both camera and the library.. if I find that one I'd be happy to make a flash-able patch.
Also looking at the Stock/HV/Taboonay kernels, since he is not extracting the ramdisk from the existing boot.img it looks like they will not be 100% compatible with this rom out of the box. (will make something up shortly)
10/2: see note one netflix
Thanks, Working Great
I flashed from 4.010.13 without a full wipe without any issues. I cleared cache, wiped dalvik cache, and flashed. Thanks for your work. This ROM will be very useful for those of us that want to retain root and take advantage of the stability that the stock ROM brings.
Small bug with shell scripts such as pm, This can cause problems with rooted applications expecting them or adb commands, to fix just grab the updated version at the top of the op acer7.006.01_CUST_ROOT_BBv2_S.zip
If you already updated you can safely flash this new version over your current one; however if you subsequently changed items in /system (such as the netflix hack) you will need to make the change again after the upgrade.
Apologies for missing this in my initial testing last night. (my fault for working on this practically while sleeping..)

why is it that when scrolling apps or scrolling of the home screen became sluggish after installing 3.2?

If you had a non stock rom ported from another device it could be just incompatible data and a wipe is needed.
If it was a stock rom it could be a data issue try wiping dalvik cache and running fix permissions in recovery.
It could also be something ypu have installed. (Widgets in particular)
I see no slowdown really I don't see much difference from a user perspective from 3.1.

This is a a500 stock rom with root modifications..If it works on a a501 great.. but if not I can't support it.. its another device.. Likely 3g will fail.
If works or you have a patch for me to make it work feel free to let me know however.
I wondered how you got the OTA when you have A500_4.010.41 originally ??
I thought North America the latest HC3.1 was version A500_4.010.13_COM_GEN2 ??
anyway...
I am on A500_4.010.13_COM_GEN2 rooted with CWM... should I go ahead and flash this ??
I understand that it will keep root... and since I will have root... I guess I can use "Acer Recovery Installer" to re-install CWM ??
and freaking Acer !!!... we were on GEN_1 originally awhile back (HC3.0.1)... then went on to GEN_2 (HC3.1)... now with HC3.2 they are back with GEN_1 ??... freaking confusing idiots !!
and the A501 is keeping this format (4.015.01)...similar to HC3.1 format !
while us A500 is going to this format (7.006.01)
Side note:
If we are seeing custom roms for HC3.2 keeping root..etc... why can't dev managed to root stock 3.2 ??
and is the CWM recovery working for 3.2 ??

The update I've provided won't touchrecovery, so you keep your current recovery and thus can restore your backup even if you mess up the rom.
You also will have root so you can re-flash reocvery if something goes wrong. But likely won't need to.
Last I'm not touching the bootloader so that will also remain as is.

Keeping root is diffrent from rooting the new system:
To keep root I pull the update zip from the system without letting it install, then I decrypt it (since acer encodes it) unzip it, then manually add/remove files to the update zip before installing via clockwork.
This way I don't need root to install superuser/su on a locked down system, but just install it via clockwork with the correct permissions.
Also recovery is seperate from the andoid system (seperate linuxkernel/ram disk from the main boot kernel/ramdisk) We need not touch it when installing a rom (even if most stock roms by default like to reflash recovery.)
I flashed my Packard bell libertytab with this rom and everything is just fine.
CWM and root.
Thanks.
Edit: I got the Thor 3.4 kernel running on it and it is fast.
24/7 at 1544MHz and even 1680 is no problem with it.
Max cfbench overall score is 9175.
my only problem is that the OP doesnt sound too sure of himself if this rom is even any good
thats just the feeling i got after reading his first post
it almost sounds like you dont have an iconia to test this on.
i do hope i am wrong. i guess i have not seen anyone post a rom and use the words in the manor you have. it just made me feel uneasy about if the rom even works.

I have an icona.. and its running the rom.
But the OTA hasn't even been out 24h (rooted or otherwise) so I've not had the time to really put the rom into its paces (nor has anyone else not working at ACER)
The other thing is my position on this rom; That is unless there is (a) a bug in the modifications I did make to provide root and some tools for end users to add their own tweaks; or (b) another official release provided by acer: I do not want to be updating the base rom; it ought to remain nearly as close to the stock OTA as possible (and any exception to this is already defined in my modification list)
Now if you have a interesting addition.. Or I come up with an interesting hack I'm happy to provide/advertise it as an "Add on" that the user may optionally flash on top of the rom to obtain the additional functionality.
(Of course I much rather work on roms with accessible source code.. unfortunately we will not be able to make such a thing until Google releases the source for Ice Cream Sandwich)
Rom appears to work fine fine. Cleared cache and dalvik cache and flashed to my Iconia with CWM from stock 3.1 and voila - 3.2
Flashed the modified HoneyVillain Kernel in post 2 and overclocked to 1504. Everything working fine so far. Netflix working with patch (rear videocam FC as usual).
I'm hoping for better battery life than Taboonay. Maybe it was just me, but I had awful battery life with Taboonay compared to stock.
Bob

I should mention after flashing that kernel I put ro.carrier=wifi-only into /system/build.prop to remove cell standby from battery use.
Also, since I didn't do full wipe, this truly came out as an upgrade, since everything on my tablet stayed the sam ein terms of apps and configuration
Scrolling thu home screen is smooth now but scrolling thru apps still lags, not as smooth as 3.1, I wipe my dalvik cache and clean wipe, should I wipe my partition?
As I just got the update notice today (US) for 3.2 I suppose the only question I would have is... can you tell me exactly how you did this so I can do it and only have su installed. Dont misunderstand as I appreciate the dev aspect of things but I have yet to see a stock rooted ROM or direction on how to that anybody hasnt 'tweaked'.
He already explained a few posts before. He took the update, dismantled it and took out the bit that will upgrade your recovery and wipe out the root. Repackaged it and viola! instant magic!

Most of the "tweaks" in here are you find not as optional as you may think.. Particularly for a distributed product.
However I've not modified any binary files; this means all the changes are either text files or removal/addition of binary blobs thus to see what I've done:
You need the official OTA image and to decrypt it/unzip it information is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
(As well on two 3.2 update related threads happening in the a500 dev section)
Once you have unziped the zipfile and update.zip will be visible and is the base of the update.zip for this install.
In that file is system files, recovery flasher files a boot.img (this contains the ramdisk where I have modifications so adb shell works as root look into extracting the ramdisk with cpio) and scripts to help in the installation of the rom.. the updater-script (a few dirs under META-INI) is the script recovery runs.
From here you can compare the files in the official archive with mine, or ignore mine and modify the install to your own liking.
For best results knowing the structure of the files in system and how linux/android boots is important. Otherwise this is a hands on exercise, there is only so much advice I can give, thus looking at the original and seeing what I touched will likely provide insight particularly if your are stuck.
In the case of su/superuser I just pulled from the official zip on rom manager provided by ChainsDD (links at https://github.com/ChainsDD/Superuser/blob/gh-pages/manifest.js ) and placed them into system making sure to add the suid perm on su in the updater-script. This however will not allow adb shell as root or prevent clockwork recovery from being over written.
There is a bit of a learning curve.. even if to me this type of hack is trivial and I only bothered doing it so I could have the 3.2 OTA without loosing root, and without what I think are silly tweaks some other devs add.

Not very technical.. but once you decide to use the rom yes is about how its supposed to act.. And how I hope most of those that have downloaded the image think of it.
When i flash this, and reboot, i hang on the Acer bootup logo. No changes. I can go back into recovery and restore, but i can seem to get this to flash properly. I'd like to have a nice clean minimal 3.2.
I even wiped and did a clean instal, one note it did say
Offset:0x180
Before it said installation complete, it also 'installed' the file far to quickly in my opinion.

[recovery][e7] TWRP 2.7.1.0 [unofficial]

Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

Tablet look:
CHANGELOG for 2.7.0.0:
-Faster graphics rendering by disabling alpha blending on fully opaque objects thanks to Tassadar
-Allow sideloading from /tmp on encrypted devices
-Check for a crypto footer before asking for a password to prevent user confusion
-Additional checks for validity to auto generated backup names
-Text wrap in the console output
-Proper caps lock support in the keyboard
-Mouse support via USB OTG for devices with a broken digitizer
-Improve scanning of storage locations for OpenRecoveryScript
-Haptic feedback for buttons, keyboard, and vibration at the end of longer running actions thanks to Samer Diab
-Fixed ext4 wiping when no selinux contexts are defined for that partition (e.g. sd-ext)
-Update SuperSU to 1.93 and improve installation process
-Added selinux contexts restoration to fix permissions
-Load RTC offset on Qualcomm devices to fix the date/time in recovery
-USB Mass Storage fixes Add SELinux support checking
-Add Disk Usage class to better handle excluded folders (e.g. Google Music cache)
-Add 4.4 decrypt support
-Add some toolbox utilities to TWRP (namely to support SELinux functions not supported in busybox)
-Various SELinux fixes and bug fixes
Note: 2.7 marks the first time that we are dropping support for older devices. We are doing this because of the SELinux support needed to install 4.4 Kit Kat ROMs. The non-TWRP parts of the recovery image have to be built in at least a 4.1 tree and the kernel that is included in the recovery image has to support writing SELinux contexts. We don't own most of the devices that we support so we depend on outside testers and developers to help us update devices. In many cases we can't find someone readily. Come to #twrp on Freenode if you want to help bring your device up to date. You can tell right away if your device will support 4.4 ROMs in 2.7. Boot TWRP and press the console button (the square-ish button either in the bottom middle or upper right) to view the console output. If it doesn't say "Full SELinux support" in the console, then your device still needs some work. Help us help you.
CHANGELOG for 2.6.3.0:
-Proper backup and restore of SELinux contexts (thanks to Tassadar)
-Pull in some ROM information for backup name generation
-Merge all recent patches from AOSP bringing TWRP up to date with Android 4.3
-Add 1200x1920 theme (thanks to Tassadar)
-A few other fixes and tweaks
CHANGELOG for 2.6.1.0:
-Initial SELinux support (only a few devices, need testers so come by IRC if your device doesn't have it and needs it)
-Initial support for f2fs file system formatting (Moto X)
-Update SuperSU install for 4.3 ROMs
-Fixed a permissions bug on files created during backup
-Fixed a bug that caused TWRP to not wait for compressed backups to finish causing 0 byte files and md5sums to not match
-Fixed decryption of encrypted data so that both TouchWiz and AOSP decryption are possible
-Ignore lost+found folder during backup and size calculations
-Various other minor bug fixes and tweaks

Well, I didn't build it from source. Instead, I dumped the dt.img from the stock kernel. Simply put I managed to unpack a boot image and repack it without losing anything.

Yup.. I will build it from sources again but that won't be the latest. 2.7.0.0 does not support devices without selinux.

That is because you were missing the dt.img.. Compiling one is the biggest issue without source. That is why I used a hexviewer, investigated the boot images and dumped out the dt image from there. You want the dt.img? As of now it's not very useful. It won't work with the kernel sources that burak provided. We need to start off with caf sources and incorporate what ever we can from burak's sources and either experiment to bring up backlight and touchscreen or we need to update the sources exactly to what gionee had updated to. Or we could just wait for gionee to release sources. Sources say It is likely that they are going to release the sources soon.

Great Work!! Very, very thanks!!

Works fine, just did a Nandroid backup without problems. Although to recognize the "sdcard-ext" , you must mount it previously from the corresponding option in "mount" , if I'm not mistaken?

use adb push. download the adb files from net, open a cmd or terminal and type in the code.
Code:
adb push filename.zip /sdcard-ext/update.zip
then using twrp, flash update.zip.
you can also use usb otg if you have one. and this kind of question goes to Q&A subforum.
And stop spamming the forum.
