That depends on how tech savvy the finder is, simply trying to brute force through the pattern lock wont get them anywhere, trying to break the encryption wont either (i recall a news story where the FBI had a similar issue getting into a phone deemed evidence). But that said with the vibrant specifically i can think of a few ways to circumvent the security using CWM or Download mode.

Agreed with post above there are a few things you can do to sorta bypass the lock screen lol

Yeah, I've done it for a friend, he forgot his pattern and was asking me to fix it
He had some Huwaei phone, not rooted etc.
Just had to find the right combo for Recovery mode (googled it) and soon as I did that, just reset it to factory, and it was all good.
Did you have data or anything?
do this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDIxMiwiY29tLmxvb2tvdXQubGFicy5wbGFuYiJd
press install, if the phone is on and connected to a data/wifi it will auto install the app, then you'll get location email on your GMAIL that tells you where your phone is.
You can also text locate (after the app is installed) and it'll do the same email thing.

I recommend using lookout mobile security. You can use it to locate your phone. Try the above post and if you locate it install lookout.
SGH-T959 ICS Gummy 1.2

wow, thats awesome!
ive disable my old simcard tho, im guessing the "locate" txt wont work anymore yea?
so will wait for the email from Plan B and see if its able to tell me the location.

just a quick question, i click on the link xriderx66 gave n install it, google is able to detect my phone model n i click install, but till now it hasnt installed yet, does it means the lost device couldnt be installed?

Are you sure someone took your phone?
It could have lost its battery, so it can't install, or it's not connected to a data/wifi and it can't install.

yea, im pretty sure I lost it. Long story short, someone pinched my phone while i wasnt aware and on the way home I realize it missing n used my friends mobile to call. couldnt get thru.
most probably that pick pocket having a hard time switching on the device after pulling out the battery.
lets say he manage to go into recovery mode n wipe my device, will i still be able to remotely install Plan B into it?

If he wiped it, then the phone lost its association with your gmail account (for installing apps remotely).

oh really? then i think my phone is history now.... thief these day are good.

i install the PLAN B on my new phone, but there isnt any new mail in my gmail. i even used my friends mobile to txt "locate" to my phone number, nothing pops up in my gmail.
is there a step im missing here?

Not really. If it installed and the app worked, it would work, I've done it to my own phone before.

Rooted Then Verizon Wireless Could Not Authenticate My Phone

I just got my phone rooted... ran nandroid backup and whatnot and then I tried to make a call on my phone. I get a nice Verizion Wireless lady (recording) telling me that Verizon Wireless could not authenticate my phone and to dial #8899.
This transfered me to a customer service rep (no hold time at all) and I had to explain to her that I didn't do anything to my phone. She "sent updated security" to my phone and now it works.
Did anybody else have this problem? I haven't seen anybody else say anything about this.
I am assuming you had the phone fully activated and working before you rooted it right?

Yep. I've had the phone since launch day. I'm just happy it is working now! I was just surprised to hear the message.
I've had this many times with WM on my TP2 when I installed custom ROMs- it's common... Just tell VZW that you cleared your storage or something and that when you did that, you had to reprogram the phone, and then you got the message. I'm not sure what causes it... Do any of the Devs know if there is a VZW file saved on the phone whenever you activate and program? Maybe the phone randomly checks for this file? I'm not sure how VZW knows... Maybe when you program a phone it checks to see if it has EVER been programmed by VZW - since you installed a ROM that was built from scratch it doesn't have this info preallocated, VZW tells you that they can't authenticate your phone and you have to talk to a rep.
It's their way of trying to find out who jacked with their phones, and if you admit to any foul play, they'll probably void the warranty and maybe even refuse service until you have it brought back into a VZW store for official programming. Not sure though...

Understand your idea, but I didn't install any custom ROM. All I did was root it, installed recovery reflash, did a backup and then I tried to make a call. I was just surprised because I never saw anybody else mention it. Oh well.... My phone still works, so I'm happy!

That is weird... VZW is tricky, who knows what they can actually see has been done to the phone. I mean, if we open up a menu that tells us what ROM were running, I'm sure they can too
It lost the akey is what it sounds like, happens sometimes when a phone is hard reset or wiped, Droid Eris does it all the time but Ur all good calling tech is all it takes.

I have the same difficulties, and the site seems to still be down. Any thought anybody?
I've never been able to get the phone finder to work over the past 6-7 weeks that I've had the phone . Though I was able to get my phone to ring remotely twice but phone finder still didnt work... strange :/
I haven't been able to get the sense dashboard site working at all, & I've had my phone for a few weeks.
I have deleted and created new accounts a couple of times & I tried a hard reset too...
I think the problem rests with HTC :/
Hopefully they get it sorted ASAP

I would love to just make it ring remotely
could you please tell me how to make it ring cause whenever i click on ring button it says "Unable to connect to your phone to make it ring."
Doesn't work here either.
@dolphin87 have you added your phone number?
Do u turn on ur GPS?
There is never anything new on the sense website.

it worked with me twice the first days, but now only able to ring. I locked it. says locked, but isn't... and no location. written to HTCSense, told me the server's down. so we'll have to wait. Not very serious

phone number is written right with +********
and the gps is on as well
Thanks. solved my problem.
on computer I changed my phone number to +............
on phone I cancelled my HTCSense account and re-put it again with the complete phone number (+............) and everything is OK.
The problem was with incomplete number, it would ring making you think your number is OK,
and on other hand they ask you first the country and then your phone number, making you think you don't have to put the country prefix.
Now Everything is working : phone finder, ring and lock it
of course I didn't try to wipe it.... Thanks again Dolphin87, you drove me to solution
Still not working

Try : cancel your HTCSense account on both computer and phone , redo it putting your entire complete PHONE NUMBER (+your-country.........) for example if you are french : +33 661 310 XX XX.
for me it worked! and still works after 2 days. WAOU!
For a top international company to have such a crappy outdated website (in both design and function) beggars belief .
Can't get anything to work for me, won't ring and says my phone finder isn't ticked, when it is
Phone number is entered with the proper prefix
Thought it might be down to me having a custom rom, does it work with stock roms ? You other guys experiancing problems running custom roms or Kernels ?
Cheers

FRUSTRATED! Unlock code suddenly appears.

Hi guys,
Today, after having my SGS I9000 for about three months, I ran into a very, very, frustrating problem.
All of a sudden, after I turned my phone off and on, it asked me for a SIM unlock code. I did not buy the phone from a provider. I bought it in Asia, independent from a carrier.
Why now? After a few months of working without any hitches, this happens.
After I dug around for some information, I tried rooting the phone so I could get an unlock code using an app. However, the three button method to get to the recovery mode doesn't seem to work with my phone.
This is truly a pain and I really don't know what to do. Can anybody give me some tips?
if the 3 button combo dont work, you will have to do the 3 button fix, you can do this by booting into download mode via ADB (android debug bridge) and then when you have fixed the 3 button combo, you can then root and install the app that removes the network lock.
I have no idea why that happened, normally when network lock is off it stays off.
Have you done anything to the phone that may of caused this ??
Anyway i know its quite a mission you have got to do, but when its done, try to make a nandroid backup for future references, or if the app gives you a code (i have never used it) keep a copy incase it happens again.

I don't think this has anything to with the network specific sim as u have said u bought it independent of carrier..Just contact ur network provider and they will give u the sim unlock code
After than go to settings and "Location and Security" and disable sim lock option
Hope it helps

Thanks for the replies, guys.
Yes, it is indeed strange that it suddenly popped up. It was working extremely fine before that and everything just went downhill!
I'm not sure if I did anything to the phone that may have caused it...I rarely download things and only use the phone to make calls/text/surf the web.
Doing all the necessary fixes seem to take quite a bit of time and from how busy I am these days, I won't be able to invest in doing it myself.
I am thinking of getting it unlocked professionally at a shop.
And I highly doubt it is an actual SIM code from my provider. I'm under Fido and I've tried most of the default codes and they do not work.

Help! Lost my phone - Stolen

EDIT: Phone was definitely stolen.
What (if anything) can I do to try to track it? Didn't have any apps installed for something like this
also, is there a way to access my SMS's that are coming in? Contacts are all stored in Gmail, so that's not an issue at least.
From your PC download "Plan B" by going to your account. As soon as the phone gets a signal it will install. You can track it remotely with another phone.
Sent From Rob's ATRIX.
I did do that...hopefully it will get on there but haven't received any email yet with a location. I am very interested how i can quickly send and view my SMS's
VERY IMPORTANT for work reasons.
There is also Cerberus which works excellently, but I don't know if it can be installed and activated remotely.
Sent From Rob's ATRIX.
You can set up AT&T "family track" on your phone and it will go into effect immediately so you can get an exact location of your phone (if it is on). Even if you don't have AT&T I'm sure that rogers and other phone companies offer something similar if not the same thing.
MOTOBLUR's "track my phone" might work? And if you can't get it back at least you can initiate a remote wipe as you seemed to hint that there is a security issue or something there.

what about getting to see the SMS's on the phone? gonna call ATT now.

it's not the iPhone 5, is it...?
Honestly?..........Sorry to tell you but it's long gone if someone took it. Best bet you have is someone found it and is honest, but that doesn't happen often. Ignore the posts about installing apps..............you don't have your phone, not gonna happen!
Did you have it locked? If not you can't have been too worried about the security.
Call your carrier, have the phone logged as stolen, they will track it if it is turned on and active. They don't deactivate phones right away for this exact reason. If someone uses it they will try to track it through the numbers called on it.
If it has a stock ROM and you had a screen lock, your messages should be safe.
Your settings are tied to your Motoblur account.
Log into the Motoblur website and issue a remote wipe.
it was Neutrino Rom, pretty new install so not much private info on there...no screen lock or anything setup
I'm pretty sure you can install Lookout Security remotely to try and track it.
About checking the text messages, I think you're outta luck there. I've never heard of remotely checking texts, but hopefully I'm wrong for your sake.
So, I wasn't able to get any response from Plan B, but i installed ATT's Family map program and it is seeing the phone, which means at least I know it is still on.
What should i do?
I was about to give up and have it deactivated and turn on an old handset, but now that i have a general location on it i'm not sure what my next move should be

sound was not on.....
The location looks like it's all commercial, i don't see houses or anything. So i am guessing the thief brought it to work with them?
also, it says it's only accurate to about 30 yards give or take. So if it was in a development or apartment building, kinda hard to key in on where exactly it is.
If, however the person with it lives in a bit more remote area, i MAY have a chance to narrow it down...but still hard to be certain and all

Then destroy target.
isn't there an app that can remotely turn sound up on the phone?
call the cops. you have the serial number and all that right? file a stolen property report and then tell them you've narrowed down the location of your phone using an app.

Lost my phone and Android Lost isn't working

Hey guys, I lost my phone 30 minutes ago and unfourtnately since I have never lost a phone in my life I didin't think I would loose one now. I don't have any "find my phone" installed on the phone so I went to the website http://www.androidlost.com and I pushed the app to my stolen phone and I also pushed the Jumpstart app. I also tried to send a message "androidlost register" to the phone, but nothing sems to work.
Android Lost doesn't register the phone. The first thing I did when I came home was to change my Google account password. If I'm correct, isn't that a misstake? Because now when the thief turns on the internet, the password is changed so he can't login to the account? Is this correct?
Does the phone have to have WiFi or mobile data enabled?
Since you changed the password I don't think pushing apps from the playstore will work anymore. Even if you change it back, the login link is broken and you'd need the device to log back in.

Lost or stolen? Lost, there's still hope. Someone might turn it in somewhere, there are still good people left in this world.
Stolen, probably goodbye. First thing he'd do would be to remove sim or turn off.
As far as i know androidlost will work if everything is turned on; if there's a data connection, if gps is activated, etc. I'll surely get corrected if not.
Changing the Google password will prompt to log in again, yes.
Sucks though mate.. :-\
The funny thing is, when I call it, it calls for the full duration, and also they haven't taken out the SIM card. I tried it with my moms Galaxy Nexus the exact way I did on my Nexus 4, but the only difference was she had internet connection on and it worked... What I fear the most is I changed my Google account password, Maybe it's not possible to retrieve the phone via androidlost because of this?

Well if the phone is stolen the first thing they might do is take it to the nearest cell phone shop to get it wiped .. Or maybe you left it somewhere ... Retrace your steps...

Is there a way to like enable latitude on the web or something to remotely see the location of the device? or something like that? Because I'm pretty much screwed because I changed the password on my Google account, very very stupid of me, but I panicked
I know it's to late know, but next time you should try Cerberus app; best in line for tracking and remote controlling devices
Because of the WiFi bug it's affecting anti theft apps. The theft will need to switch the screen on before Google play will download the app you've pushed. But once that's done it is still hit and miss whether the web interface will be able to connect to the phone to track its location unless the screen is kept on. I know Cerberus and lookout can't.

i think call your phone and speak with the one who find it to return it back ..if it not works make a price for your stolen phone and buy it from the thief
Use this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alienmanfc6.wheresmyandroidcupcake
Install it and text "wmd gps" to your phone.
If you don't have another phone, use this: http://textinghome.com/smsemail.php
It'll send the reply to your email. (put "wmd gps" in the subject box, and three random letters in the message box)
(I tested this one on my phone)
EDIT: ****. I just read that you changed your password. Big mistake. Try changing it back to what it was before, even though I doubt that would work.
As a last resort (when you accept it's gone for ever), report the IMEI number to your GSM provider and hope they blacklist it.
