[WEBTOP ERROR] Change partition from READ ONLY to READ WRITE - Atrix 4G General

Hello!
I tryed to install the old ubuntu.bat, had a lot of problems, In the end, I tried to revert and put back the original webdock.
So, I made a mistake and the file mountosh disapears, but i have the mountosh.new in the /system/bin.
I tried to rename and I cant because I think the partition is read only now. unable to "chmod 755 /system/bin", i received the message "read-only file system"
anybody can help me?
I need to umount and remount the filesystem? (rootfs?), but how I make this?

"mount -o remount,rw /system" than when you are done "mount -o remount,ro /system"

Terminal Emulator: System Access from Phone

I am using Terminal Emulator on the phone (because my PC is screwed up). I am trying to copy a directory from the sd card to /system/media/audio directory on the ROM.
I am able to get rw access to the ROM by typing in..
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
then I am trying to copy the file by typing..
cp -r /sdcard/download/ringtones /system/media/audio
It gives me an error saying "Cannot allocate system memory"
does anybody know what that means? How can do this?
you can't copy across mount points. At least, I think that may be what's happening.
You cant write to system from a droid itself....need to use recovery

[Q] Why won't "mount" work in terminal?

Hi folks,
This isn't about mounting as a usb drive or anything; I'm trying to gain rw access to /system, but my usual command for that - "mount -o remount,rw /system" - returns the following:
Mount: not found.
Any idea why that would be? This is running CM7 off an sdcard.
try prepending busybox to the command line: "busybox mount yada yada"
Hey, that totally worked! Why did that make a difference?
symlinks not setup right i guess

[WTF][4.2.2] "mount -o remount ro /" doesn't work but "mount -o remount,ro /" does??

[WTF][4.2.2] "mount -o remount ro /" doesn't work but "mount -o remount,ro /" does??
Mod: You can delete this thread... Sorry, I was so nervous about that....
Hey Guys,
I was developing on my kernel in init.rc and I recognized that / doesn't get remounted read-only in my script.
I couldn't understand that. The command runs, but / don't get mounted ro. WTF???!
So I tested a bit and here is what I found out:
Code:
mount -o remount rw /
remounts / rw.
Code:
mount -o remount ro /
Doesn't remount / read-only.
Instead,
Code:
mount -o remount,ro /
works.
What the hell is going on here??!? I am using Android 4.2.2. Also happens with stock-kernel. Can someone confirm this?
I am pretty sure I used the old command on Android < 4.2.2 and it worked. Or?!
It doesn't matter if you use toolbox or busybox.
Thanks,
vorcers
Edit:
ahh,
Code:
mount -o remount /
remount's / rw. That solves the mystery. :silly:
This also happens on real systems. I think there is some bug in mount / the remount option. Because any word behind remount and prior / is ignored / no error. Instead, if you swap ro and remount, mount prints errors.

Mounting error

Hi,
I am unable to edit build.prop (flashing B15 and B13-chinese bootstack enabled nav bar - I want to remove it) as I can not mount /system as RW. When doing so, either via Terminal, ADB Shell or simply a file explorer app, I generally get a "Device busy" error or some other random error.
I have tried those commands so far in Shell:
mount -o remount,rw /system
mount -o remount,rw -t ext4 /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system /system
All commands have been tried on the three available kernels.
Any help is much appreciated!

Could not remount /System

Hello All
I followed the guide here to root my Moto G4 (Not plus).
It worked on but now when I try to move an app to system using "/app/system mover" I get the following error Could not remount /System.
I have also tried opening a terminal and typing
"Mount -0 rw, remount /system" and receive the error "system" not in process mounts
I have also run "mount" without parameters to come up with the command " Mount -0 rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p47 on / system type ext4"
This provides me with the error "Mount: max 2 arguments"
Any help would be appreciated.
Can anyone help? I'm a bit new to this so please assume I know nothing and reply at basic level.
Cheers
mount -o rw, remount /
