[MOD][ICS]Feats-It version 5[GT-P7310] - Galaxy Tab 8.9 Android Development

Hi all,
UPDATE: NEW VERSION
I am proud to present you the new Feats-It v5(.0) There has been a lot of changes that have happened since the last release, and I am proud to say that all of them brought improvements. Indeed, the improvements are so large and my fellow testers so satisfied, I would call this the most major version of these features yet. Also, there is a new member, jtdo to my team and he was the first to test a working version of these features for the 7500. This, unfortunately has a con too. For now (but that will change soon!) we will be shipping a Wifi-Only version of Feats-It v4. Anyway, have a look on what the most major release of Feats-It contains:
Beats Audio
Wallpapers from Ubuntu and ASUS
Samsung Live wallpapers and the phase beam wallpaper for those ROMs not including it.
Build.prop tweaks for performance, battery life, smooth scrolling and cache edits.
New Widgets
Apollo, CyanoGen Mod Music App
The SJLover font - Really awesome!
New Keyboard [Beta]
DOWNLOAD NOTE: It may seem like v3, but it is v5. I just can't wait to give this to you and renaming would take much of upload time and cause too much chaos!
Download the WIFI-Only Version
Note that we are working hard on getting a 3G version
Please Enjoy!

I'm enjoying it. Works perfect. Thnks!

Is this an add-on for ICS Roms or does it work on honeycomb roms too (like Overcome)?
Thanks!
---------- Post added at 05:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:56 PM ----------
Or is it only for a specific ROM like cyanogen or AOKP?

Looks pretty nice but what Tweaks are you talking about? A little bit more details would be welcome!

As said in the title, it is ICS-only. The major tweaks are listed in the change log.

Don't see a changelog. Only thing I see is "More tweaks than you can imagine! Your Tab will feel smooth as silk. Promise!".
Well, what's that all about?

lol. The changelog (The bunch of bullets) contains the features and More tweaks than you can imaging refers to tons of nee performance tweaks, most of them done in the build.prop file.
Makes sense?

Yup. Won't flash it then due to lack of info and couldn't care less about some (live) wallpapers and the overrated Beats audio cr*p.
Things like "And much more!" are also very unnecessary without explaining them. Has no meaning whatsoever this way.

A list of the extra widgets and what the build.prop changes are, or do you want me to list the changes to the build.prop for you ?

Are you happy now (not that I would care these kind of people would be happy , wonder whether they even have a different life than useless comments) ?Lol. If it is such a problem for you, I will list everything. And yes, if you are so careless, you can do it yourself too And if you don't want to flash it because you don't care, then why are you even posting here?

It's been common practice on XDA, certainly for all the years I've been a member, to provide a detailed changelog so people know exactly what they are flashing and what changes are being made to their system.

Okay, did it now, but I don't get the other guy saying he would not flash it just because of that,

I have just flashed it ... sound improvements are visible ... other stuff is not important ...
Do you also have a ICS mod to activate the cameras ? ... (joking .. I know the drivers are not available)

Don't feel like backing up and restoring after finding out for example that the improvements were bogus/doing nothing. B37 runs just fine as it is, that's all.
The current changelog is better though, thx. Still not as detailed as I would like, but that might be personal.
It's just the way of responding to a quite reasonable question that bothers me. Last words in this thread also, before things get out of hand.
Good luck with your magical settings!

Is the V.3 or V.4? The download link says V.3 instead of V.4.

No worries, it is v4. Notice the little dash behind the four? It is kind of like MS office. The current version is Codenamed Office 2010, but the version is Office 14. No worries

Bump. Version 5.0 is out after some waiting! It is untested, but taken part by part it worked fine, so I see no reason for it not to together.

Flashed it.

Shouldn't this be in the general forum if you're not actually developing it?
Yeah Im just posting the news. Never been to the general forum part sorry and I didnt know.
Just wanted to fill people in!
So yes it should be moved to the SGS2 General forum
The link to the ROM you posted was from July 9th...
Anyways, moving this to General.
The link is to the miuiandroid build, from the 21st, and that is not official?? I don't believe they are releasing the official until another 2 hours or so?

I used to wonder the same myself. To me it just looked like Android with an iPhone interface.
However I tried it and found things like...
toggles in the notification screen (configurable)
battery stats that go into a LOT of detail (configurable)
full skinning that allows you to mix and match theme elements on the fly (configurable)
built in call/sms firewall (configurable)
built in application security w/password (configurable)
They're just off the top of my head. There's so much more that it does above and beyond regular Android. Other than the configurable toggles in the notification screen (swipe left/right from notifications to get to a full screen of toggles) I've not seen anything that you can't do with apps, but it's all there and all works together.
Also, in my opinion it has the best browser available for Android.
There's more, but I guess you're getting that it's very configurable

this is the link to the download. but MIUI said on their fb they are uploading one by one and as of now the rom for s2 is still not up... =) fortunately i know a bit of chinese.
its been there since coupla weeks if am not wrong. and yeah they have weekly releases.
as far the MIUI port and builds out for SGS2 , I have tried a few and the general thing is battery life is not as good as sammy ROMs, battery stats are totally wrong (its a known issue). FM and Bluetooth work now.

You just got thanked! (accidentally)
The official rom is being released as we speak on the Chinese miui website... But that's in Chinese so we will all have to wait a day or 2 until miuiandroid translate it into english... But yes this is official support, and hopefully fixes alot compared to the .21 release...

The webiste is showing the S2 development rom for download. Only problem is, it doesnt give any info on installing this rom!
Does it have to be flashed via Odin?
ZIP placed on SD and Installed via CWM?
Do we Wipe any of the cache's?
Is data stored or everything deleted?
Anybody got the answer to these questions?

[Video] Overcome v2.1.1 ROM "review" (update, added the recovery too)

Last night I decided it was time to try something different. Task's ROMs are popular, but unfortunately for us... there is not a whole lot that makes one ROM really different from another.
I wish there were a lot of tweaks made.... lockscreens added... MIUI battery bar.... additional toggles.... long-pressing toggles to take you to the settings... etc.
But, we do not have those things... so, what are the real differences from one ROM to another? build.prop tweaks... boot animations... themes.... and of course all are deodexed/zipaligned.
All that said... for what it is worth, Overcome does feel better than Task 7-10 did. I used it with the stock kernel for awhile, and then I tried it with pershoots kernel at 1.2 (not 1.4). This made it feel even better.
I have experienced no issues, and while I use ADW EX, the stock launcher that is included felt really snappy. I just love my gestures.
Below is a video (not a great one) of Overcome v2.1.1.... would strongly encourage you guys trying it. This is not a sound board for this ROM is better than this ROM... it is simply so you can see another ROM and hopefully encourage people to try some new ROMs.
OVERCOME CAN BE FOUND HERE
Next on my list is BinDroid... the custom theme included on that is very sexy.
I am uploading another for a widget picket app that I would love developers to start including....UPLOADED... YOU CAN VIEW THIS AMAZING APP HERE
Big fan of the recovery...
TASK told me this video review has nothing that a ROM review should have..... I'd be curious what exactly I could have shown that I did not. Please let me know how I can improve for the next video.
.
thanks for the video
I spoke to a guy here that is planning to release a rom for the tab that has all those things and a lot more. Hopefully he does cos it sounded fantastic. I checked his thread for one of his roms, I think it was the galaxy s 2 and it is great
^ who was it?
I have added another video of the Recovery... big big fan of the tweaks made to it.
strongly encourage looking at the Widget Picker app also... a must have for me.
It's a secret lol It wasn't a galaxy, don't know where I got that from. I am not saying much as it isn't up to me to talk about it yet. But you will see soon I just spoke to the guy ;-)

So, what the point of this thread?
well I guess theres some conflict here but as long as the Rom works and everyone that was involved gets a mention I'm happy. Surley thats the main thing right give everyone what they want, anyway thats enough from me, happy new year to you guys its there if you want it
Does the ROM work fine?
Any nitz and RIL issues?
All this slating of airbus360. However if anyone bothers to try his rom, it is much better. I've been using cm9 since the first alpha up to the most recent release. It was good, but not a patch on this. Airbus's rom is much smoother, especially when flicking between home screens. Its also a lot faster. So although he may have used Teamhacksung code, he's obviously incorporated a few improvements of his own. Before anyone criticises, they should install it. It's a step up from the current cm9 builds.

Noon Question. How to install this so called beta version. Help pls.....
Been using this since last night.
Basically, looks the same as CM9 minus a few modifications, yet the ROM is a lot smoother then CM9.
Battery for me is great, roughly 1% loss an hour. Removed all uneeded apps via Titanium Backup.
Ive noticed one slight problem with the incoming call screen, icons misplaced. BUT, Still can be used.
I've had No FC's either.
I do really reccomend this ROM

Just wanted to say I really like this slim rom - thank you very much! It's also much snappier than anything I've ever tested, ranging from stock to aosp and aokp roms, cm9 included. I'm not quite satisfied with the "density" (or how to you call that?) of the font, it's a bit too less crisp and clear for my taste. I know I could flash ics, but the font itself is more beautiful than the ics one.
What I miss:
- not being able to customize the unlock-icon
- choosing an app to unlock to results in having a very fugly icon (pixelated) displayed in lockscreen
- the sound is so much better than anything I've ever heard coming out of my tab (most of the roms were WAY too quiet/weak),
but it's still far from "punchy" and I dont mean "oooomph bass bass bass" at all
I know it's not exactly desired to give feedback but I supposed I'd add my two cents anyway
Maybe I'll add a few more things as I'm spending time with my beloved 8.9

Ah yes, it's a tough decision (JB font looks more elegant, although thinner). You can always flash the ICS font included at the OP, but I get your point. About what you miss, that's...well...out of my control, but you can choose your desired icon when customizing it (a chore looking for icons, I know, but we do have that alternative). About the sound, I also use the app Equalizer to further customize the sound. Also yes, feedback is indeed truly appreciated ! I'm glad to be of service, and even more glad this ROM is useful to someone! :good:

Do you guys want an updated ICS build, what kind?

Exactly what the thread title says...
As most of you should already be aware I have a gingerbread build that I try to provide something close to a monthly update on (plus or minus a few days). What I would like to know tonight is if y'all would like something similar with ICS?
Just like the gingerbread builds this won't have a lot of progression and I won't be trying to really create anything so much as compile y'all something (hopefully stable) to use if you so choose.
Assuming the answer to the first question is yes, do y'all have a preference for the build (cm9, aokp, etc)?
A release candidate of CM9 would be nice or if there's an ICS rom of ParanoidAndroid, then that would be great as well, I like having proper tablet UI for apps.
Has hash already updated his CM9 kernel?

Every enhancement
the sg7 enhancement, linaro, supercharge, oc'ed kernal
and nothing else.
Base it on the least flashy ROM. I want to change, and add in things as I see fit, and I want the most basic version of android to do it from. I want it the fastest it can go, so all the enhancements and nothing else added in.
You can port sense rom to our Kindle???
All of the roms I have tried have these really annoying bugs. In the ROM I have now, the WIFI keeps dropping, even when i'm in the middle of a download.
If you guys can make a simple, stable ROM without all the bells and whistles (swipe left, themes, etc), that would make me (and a lot of other people) very happy.

This is sort of where I was already leaning; was considering basing something off of the loosethiskin builds that TWA was providing before cm10 but I wanted some opinions first as just like my cm7 rom I won't be the one running it (I'm using cm10 and it's going to remain that way)

No; others may be capable and or willing to do this. I personally don't touch binary ports; partly cause I don't want to and partly cause I don't know how to do binary ports (I haven't researched it do to the fact that I just didn't want to do it; source code for me)

I haven't experienced any of those issues but one thing I can point out is wifi issues are most likely kernel related; I'm most definitely not a kernel dev so anything I do will have something close to hashcodes current kernel (assuming it won't work as is)

Funny, I was just thinking about this today, wondering if anybody that's capable is willing to take the time to do this. While I'm pretty much satisified with my JB rom, I really like ICS and I was very happy with twa_priv's CM9 builds.
I watch a lot of video from CNN and that's flash, the JB roms are finally giving me pretty good performance with this but I also like to watch video from ESPN and I haven't figured out a way to get that to work. With ICS, it prompts you to choose a player to watch the videos, like MX Player or Dice Player, with JB, it just tells me that the content is unavailable. That's probably the biggest thing I miss from ICS. I still keep a nandroid of twa's last CM9 release under a different gmail address and update any apps from Play Store every couple of weeks and then I OD on ESPN vids & Flash stuff, tonight I had 17 apps to update. LOL
For me, it's a tradeoff of JB Google Now for ICS ESPN vids and I'd rather have ESPN videos. So, if you could use twa's CM9 build as a base and hook in Hashcode's newer kernels, say on a monthly basis, that would be awesome & most appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike T
So no new ICS ROM?

Sorry I've been busy and interest actually seemed much lower than I would have expected so it's been a somewhat lower priority.
I would still love to get it done (if for no other reason than we don't really have a stable/buildable version of ICS) but as it stands I've been having a few issues getting the ICS device repo updated to use the current kernel but I have been trying at least some.
I have to remind you it's the holiday season as well.
A good, stable, release candidate ICS ROM? I can see the appeal. I'd definitely give it a whirl. I'm starting to get tired of instability on a lot of ROMs.

Well I suggest you put in the work to correct them

You mean report bugs and stuff? Well, they wouldn't exactly be called bugs, more instability. For example, the android browser self closing itself every now and then.

That's a joke right; it's been 5 days since you asked this previously, it's still the holiday season and I haven't said anything in regards to something working so it must be I'm just not sure I get the humor in it...
Admittedly I probably shouldn't have created this thread til I had made some more progress but the goal was to find out if people were even interested in ICS in the first place. As I have stated this is still on my project list but let's be serious for a moment; how high of a priority do you really think back tracking to a previous version is? (I'll give you a clue: it's not).
I can tell you this; syncing cm9 and the old Kfire-Android local manifest for it doesn't build (and that's with the old kernel branch), it's not as simple as sync a bunch of folders and compile; I have to actually dig into the code of several repos to sort this out.
Lastly consider that my primary role is as a recovery dev; you know the term 'the plate is full', well I have a platter over here...
Not directly related but on the subject of recovery development; this is where most of my time has gone as of late.
I'd like to see an updated ICS but if it doesn't happen......oh well......I'll wait
.....when you hit the walls of sanity, you have no-where to go.....
Yea I'll wait too. And it was a joke. :c
How about a ROM with similar battery life as the stock Amazon one? Every custom ICS or JB ROM I have tried has not been awesome for battery life. Especially in sleep mode.
I'd like to see a honeycomb ROM that wold be pretty neat
