CHANGELOG
v1.6

Merged latest CM changes, including a lot of fixes and improvements for device tree
Improvements on frameworks, fixed for once and finally all DPI related crashes

PAD/PAL bugfixes for apps that still crop images in lower dpis
Settings revamp, speed preferences to switch between modes without having to set up anything, less clutter
Trebuchet extras: 3x4 widgets, speed dial menu button, ... and some weird rocket button which im sure will be very useful to most of you

Fixed a lot of other things on pad & pal, cleaned up sources
Fixed themes crash on tab mode, still crashes sometimes on phone mode. [Seems this one is totally fixed now. Need to test a bit more]

To be fair on madflap, it was the other user who passed bad remarks first for which madflap responded. It did escalate in a bitter manner from there which I dont agree with but still the first stone was thrown by the other user.

Bro, honestly if that shouldn't be the reason why you don't try out this awesome rom. The devs did an amazing job with the coding, and the Per App Layout is unreal. You would not be showing support for me or for Madflapjack, you would be showing support for the great guys that made it

this rom is amazing, smooth as hell.
there is one thing i am wondering though. is there anyway to make wallpapers portrait instead of landscape?

thank to all of you, now im tryng to fix camera thats giving me a rare bug, but im working with saranhai to get it working.

This ROM is beyond awesome, period. Thanks again mad flap for bring it to the captivate. I'm having some troubles making some apps run the way I like it but it's because I'm not familiar with pad and pal. I'm on devils kernel and everything is working right. Even the theme I was using on CM 9. Well, the phone is a nexus s according to xda app, but who can blame it? It is a tablet too sometimes
I'm happy and cured from my flashing nightlies addiction.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium

ROM is working awesome, only issue so far is camera, which you're aware of. You forgot to edit the build.prop I did it for myself though. Also a bunch of NFC stuff still in ROM as well as the lights.aries.so not there instead the one from the Nexus is there, also can you remove the videos folder in system/media would reduce the file size

Tazz Froyo FAQ section
Just a few screenies. The home screen here is using Launcher Pro Plus (available in the market)
Whats this music app in here? It looks "different".
-Thats the MIUI music app. Tazz has graciously replaced the stock music apk with this as it is a bit snappier and nicer to use. It has auto d/l of album art, and lyrics. It has all the functionality of the stock music app as well as the lock screen controls and bt playback controls. Thanks Tazz.
Problems? (odd behavior, FC's, etc)
-Wipe, flash, reboot, then see if you still have problems.
-99% of the problems posted are because of a bad install. Wipe x3 and flash. If there are bugs reboot. If the problems continue re-dload and try again. Do this b4 reporting bugs, it will fix most unknown problems.
Wheres my Gmail, Market, and other google apps?
They are not there because you didnt read the install instructions good enough to see the part about having to flash the google apps after the rom because devs cannot package google apps in a cyanogen based rom legally, so go back, download them, and flash them on. Current version has gapps included with ROM.
Why is my display percentage of use so high in battery usage stats?
This is exactly what you want. Keep in mind this is percentage of battery use, not percentage of the whole day. Basically think of it like this. If your phone has been unplugged for 4 hrs and you have been doing stuff with your phone 70% of all your battery usage for 4hrs has been to light the display. The problem would come if 70% went to cell tower roaming/wifi/camera/other apps. That would mean they are constantly running in the background draining your battery. The display only uses battery when lit. The percentage is high only because all the other things are running effeciently thus making the time the display is on the high peice of the pie.You also don't need to set the display too low to save battery. Around 40% should be fine for good battery life.
MMS problems (should work in current version)
-There are two ways to try and fix this if for some reason you cannot send/recieve mms.
1.Download APN backup and restore from the market, crank the app up one time and make a backup so it will create the folder you will need on your sdcard, download the file at the end of this line, unzip it and put the APN into the APN backup folder on your sd card, click "delete APNs" and then "Restore APNs" and choose the working apn. apns-Ivans.zip
2.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7177591&postcount=3015
Do I need Setcpu on this ROM
No, you don't need it. Feel free to use it to crank your speed up. It is overclocked to 710mhz out of the box. Many have found this to be more than satisfactory speed without using Setcpu at all.
What are the recommended settings for Setcpu
-Temp > 42.1C 528max 245min priority: 100
-Screen Off 528max 160min priority: 94
-Charging/ Full: 768max/min
-Battery < 100% 245min 768max
No in-browser Flash support
-known issue. YouTube works.
Camera app doesn't workCamera works great in current version.
-Known bug. Some success using "Camera Magic" from the Market
Barcode scanner not workingWorks in current version.
-Related to Camera not working
Says it does not recognize my sdcard
-This is due to your sdcard being partitioned more than likely. You can either format the entire card on a pc to fat32 or use recovery to unpartition. FROYO not recognize the ext partitions on your card. A2sd on FROYO stores all the apps in the same partition as everything else, just in a separate folder that it creates on its own.
-Boot to recovery.
-partition sdcard.
-0 swap
-0 ext2 for apps2sd.
-this will make one whole fat32 partition. (YOU WILL LOOSE ANY DATA ON CARD AS IT WILL BE FORMATED SO BACK UP YOUR CARD FIRST!)
Very laggy after installing ROM
- Give it a few minutes. It is syncing a ton of information from your contacts, calendars, and settings to the google appsync which will reload all your market apps that google indexed if you are coming from one FROYO ROM to another. It works great and gets you phone pretty close to where you last were if you leave it alone for a bit and let it get caught up. It only happens on the first boot anyway.
Trackball not flashing for notifications
- This was fixed in V5.In work still.
MetaMorph themes
-Yes metamorph themes do work with this ROM. Any cm6 theme should work without complications and some cm5 themes will also. The framework.apk (which changes the notification bar and dropdown as well as wallpaper) is the most common part to work well w all mods.
Heres a few that we know work.
-Transparent Chaos 2.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768628
-Suavesque http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709481
-Simplistic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739804
-Minimal Matte http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726912
Cloverdales Magic Elixir http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=673044
Unresponsive Google setup screen. Thanks Busphan Should not be an issue in current version.
Two steps.
-The first is: if unresponsive and showing no 3G signal wait a few minutes for the 3G to show then proceed with setup.
-Second: if unresponsive and showing 3G signal bypass setup by touching all four corners of the screen starting with the top left and going clockwise. At the bottom touch the screen just above the language and emergency call buttons.
-After bypassing the setup screen either manually add Google account through account and sync, or if the option isn't there reboot into recovery and flash Google apps again then reboot. Setup screen should work.
What is dalvik cache and what does it do?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7457011&postcount=1067
I want to remove ADW
-This flashable zip will remove ADW from the rom. ADW bgone
Can't get dialer to press 2 when doing *228
-either dial *22899, or dial *228, then long-press menu to bring up the keyboard
Notification bar sometimes hides
-ADW thing. Slide your finger up to hide, slide up again to show. Can disable in ADW settings.
Apps launch in background on boot
-That's because that's how Android works. It starts all the apps and keeps them sorta resident to allow you to start them faster. If they need to exit, then Android will kill them. Thats why task-killers are generally not such a good idea. They screw with the design of Android's application process control.
Live Wallpapers FC
-LWP must be the correct size for the Eris screen
-Many of the ones in the market work fine. Processor intensive or ones made for nexus will not work or bog the phone down.
Will sense Apps/Widgets work on this ROM?
-Nope. No sense widgets. This is a "non-sense" ROM. There are some sense-like widgets that you can get though.
-Try pure widgets (Pure messenger, pure calendar, pure music)
-Try Beautiful Widgets for clock/weather
Suggested CyanogenMod Settings
-use compcache (I leave it unchecked, don't see significant performance enhancement from this)
-use Jit checked off (no significant performance enhancement seen w Jit on)
-enable surface dithering (I don't personally use it as I don't feel the difference in appearance in a non HD device is not noticeable)
-vm heap size to 24mb
How can I uninstall system apps (DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE PERFORMING ANY OF THESE AS MANY OF THEM ARE INTERDEPENDENT AND YOUR PHONE MAY NOT WORK CORRECTLY IF YOU REMOVE A PROGRAM THAT SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED)
-Titanium backup will uninstall a lot
-root explorer (can set containing folder to r/w and delete apk file)
-adw interface commands to remove files (Google it)
Downloading now. I can't wait to check this out. Tazz, your stuff is alway good. I will report back with my experience later.
Might I suggest adding "CM6" or "Froyo" or "2.2" or similar to the title ?
Is the Google Apps package updated ? If not, I'll use the one I just downloaded 1-2 days ago.

I was curious as to why everyone has to put launchers other than stock, and allow users to put whatever launcher they want in, thereby allowing users to update easier too, just a thought, personally I use launcherpro

You should add that the soft key lights don't work in the things that don't work list.

Soft key lights don't work on mine either. Other than that though, it runs smooth and I love that the notifications are mapped to the trackball light and not the other LED. Awesome job Tazz, but I hate the android keyboard hahaha
just curious you say live walls work, do you mean all of them or most? Also do they stick?

Description:
ROM is based upon the Captivate little brother, the I9088 from China. At this point it is pretty much stock but in future releases I'll be theming it to look like a vanilla AOSP Froyo. For future features, look below. The intial release will be pretty much stock for the most part. I've added plumbbob's gps fix. Added google apps and working updated market. It uses the JK4 modem and Speedmod k13c kernel. More changes in the changlog below.

Interesting. Looking forward to giving this a go

I just checked and the market can find FPSE.
Just wanted to say it's been uploaded and the download link is live. Thanks!
KP5 is nice. Been running my own version since it came out. Smooth and stable. GPS gets me less that a 5 second lock. Other things work well too.
Good job.

I agree so far. It seems pretty stable and fast. Getting rid of all the bloatware was kinda hard while keeping FCs happening and getting the very latest market to work. I had some issues with the gps until I put Plumbbob's fix in it. And finally got navigation working. By the way, can you help me figure out implementing the lockscreen mod on this as I can't find how to do it anywhere for any ROM.
just wanted to say great work man. i cant attest to battery life (just flashed this) but reception is good and overall feels very fast (dont forget to enable lagfix people.
whats i would like to see:
lockscreens (which u are aware off
gps instead of data on notification bar (guess thats person preference though)
and when you hold down the power button you dont get all the other option (i find reboot to recovery pretty useful)
i made a circle batt mod for this (using uot kitchen) type a (i think? lol)attached if anyone wants it
(note this battery if for version 1.0, tested and working but im not responsible if it causes your phone to become a terminator and try to kill you, or any other crazy stuff)
Can you give me a link to this UOT Kitchen as I'd like to add some battery mods in the future. And I'm currently working on the power menu and lockscreens.

And thanks for the link. I've just finished creating the extended power menu for the ROM. Here's the update.zip: LINK and in the next release I'll have it included but for now just flash the file through recovery and you should be good.
EDIT: Also, I'll be switching kernels over to suckerpunch voodoo in the next release.
EDIT2: Fixed an issue with the update.zip. It's all good now.

Swype keyboard gave me plenty of FC. I dropped it. The ginger bread keyboard worked for me only after first boot and using fabulous fix. Since the stock works fine I stayed with it.
I am guessing GPS was not as good for you. I actually like(could be better though) the stock gps. I have tested others and I do not yield as good results. Until KP2 I have never locked on to 10-11 satelites in less than a few seconds. 3-5 of those signal was over 40(never higher than 43).
with the lock screens see PM.

sounds pretty good. it may be false but ive heard speedmod is much better and only to use suckerpunch if your overclocking?
(my priority is battery life)
i guess i can always just flash speedmod over it lol.
(another thing ive found that u may want to remove is the "battery full charged *beep beep* indicator).
by no means am i trying to be a hater, just wanted to help find anything that can improve this rom for you, i, and the community

Yep, I just am not a huge fan of speedmod due to the way the screen looks but I might just keep it as the default one and just flash suckerpunch on my device. Either way next release will have the kernel flasher app preinstalled. I'm also working on adding a update.zip for the android keyboard if anyone would want it.
Would you be able to leave a unthemed (TW) version of it too? To be honest I am quite fond of Samsung's TW themeing (coming from a Motorola Milestone, I have had enough AOSP)

Do not flash it from the "standalone" recovery, the one which you load from sdcard through 2e recovery after going back to stock. Strange things will happen if you do.

Convert SYSTEM to Ext4 /RFS

After reboot choose YES (for the rest of partitions to be converted)
Wait for the welcome screen and from the power menu reboot to Recovery
ONIX Speed features
ROOT / install superuser
Simple: Install busybox
Scrool to Yes - apply root to device and select it

- The Electric Factory v1.0 -
The Electric Factory is based on HTC's Sense 2.1[2.11.605.5 OTA] Backbone and has been totally worked over. Sense UI (Rosie) has been removed. In it's place I have implemented QQLauncher Pro v1.5, a powerful, quick, sexy launcher. Most of the UI has been themed and customized in some way. If there are things you would like to see added please let me know. This is my first ROM and I look forward to building more in the future.

That was actually a typo, the ROM does in fact have imoseyon's v5.0.1 Lean Kernel installed from the gate. He makes a wonderful engine for the Android OS and deserves mad props for his hard work. Enjoy, and let me know what you think. I am just learning and getting excited about ROM development and your comments (good or bad) are appreciated.

I actually had tossed around the idea about releasing the ROM with multiple sense-less versions and GOLauncher was the launcher I used initially. Then I found QQ and I really liked it. I'm not sure how in depth you got into tweaking it, but there are some really cool options and settings included and if you play with the configuration a bit, you can create some really nice themes. Let me know what you think. This is my first ROM and I am just getting started with Android development so comments (good or bad) are appreciated.

So good so far. I did however notice lots of HTC/Sense elements left in this ROM. I used TB and just froze them. Doing this seemed to add 40-60MB of free ram at bootup. I switched launchers as well. I decided to give the ICS launcher a try. Would love to have a patch to remove recent apps and google location services icon. Will be dropping you a lil sum on Fri!!! EXCELLENT JOB on your virgin ROM!!!!!!!!!!

It was my intention to leave in a large majority of Sense. I tend to use a lot of it's internal and hidden features.
Great job on your first ROM. Its beautiful, and I actually like qq launcher. I never used it before but it fits this ROM perfect. Only thing I didn't like was the pink SMS lockscreen icon, but other than that great job. Looking forward to flashing more of your work.
Edit: I noticed after I initially posted this that qq launcher comes with a wicked lockscreen replacement! So I guess no more pink SMS icon.
McD, this looks supa Sexcee,,this may be the only sense rom that keeps me from miui until mms issue gets resolved good job
Very nice job. This is a well done ROM and I'm really starting to like it. It definitely needs some tweeking but you're headed in the right direction. I do like the off-animation but the font's a little hard to read sometimes.
changes I've made so far:
-new boot screen(looked cool but that beeping had to go)
-installed go launcher ex
I'm interested to see where you go with this, I transferred over because my former ROM was abandoned by the dev
Looks good, going to give it a try.
Gonna give this a try, I tend to stick with Sense roms, I like AOSP but their are still a few too many annoying bugs, but this one based on Sense looks sweet, and in theory should still have the stability of a sense based rom.
Since I swapped out the bootanimation, the downanimation doesn't work anymore. Know why it did that/how to fix it(other than putting the original bootanimation back).
edit: I've also noticed imoseyon has an update to his kernel you may want to update that next time you do anything with this.

I am not quite sure why you would all of a sudden be having an issue with the shutdown animation unless you overwrote the original one. I will have an update coming out with some really nice additions coming in a couple of days. Thanks for the information.
Nevermind, I messed something up by accident. Fixed now. Looking forward to that update.

Reserved for the future . . .
looks great for people into green
Is there going to be a senseless version or has that been abandoned?
I've been running it today and I'm very happy. Not a huge fan of the signal strength icon, but I can learn to deal with it. So far so good.

I'm sure at some point we can create some flashable zips for different icons like the signal strength.
Just want to let everyone know that I'm very excited to be a part of the FactoryROM team, and I have a few tweaks I'm going to make to get the rom running as smooth as silk! Keep an eye out for updates!
Testing a build I just cooked up. The main focus on this update will be smoothness and performance.
Meh it's hard to work 2 threads over between here and Rootzwiki.
No issues with anything so far. And good job not putting a boot up sound with this ROM.
Updated to Beta 0.6 - Thanks orkillakilla!
looking good, I'm just partial to Blue myself. Will give it a shot when there's a bit more blue theme to go with it......
Will this cover the update being pushed? I woke up this morning to yet a again a phone that has been jacked by verizon's ota push.
I just downloaded this rom yesterday morning and had it running all day. It seemed really cool. I did not get any real test time, but the battery life was looking real good considering I spent all the time, in between shopping, getting some order back to my set up.
Thanks for the hard work. Happy Holidays!!

Is there something I am missing here? I just install the update and now I am right back to where I started.
Installed fine. Started up fine. Home screen started populating and it powered down and started to update (ota).
No disrespect intended. It's the ota push that has me a little PO'd.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Do we need to do a wipe between versions?

Ok, as far as your phone restarting, you will need to remove the OTA zip from your sd card. I'm not sure exactly where it is stored on the SDcard, you you will have to search for it. I'm not exactly sure what it is named either (never had this problem, but have read some about it) but you should probably know it when you see it.
After you take care of that problem, use a program like root explorer or es file explorer and got to /system/etc/security and rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip, bak
That should prevent the phone from trying to update again.
On a side note, I am currently working on adding more options in the quick settings in the pulldown bar. For some reason when I push the modded SystemUI.apk, the homescreen takes a LONG time to load, and the notification bar doesn't show. I'm going to have to start from scratch and see if I can get it right.

Could I make a suggestion?
Is it possible to raise the lock ring up a bit?
I'm having a hella of a time unlocking my phone at times right now haha.
Other than that, the rom has been running quite smoothly.
Thank you for your hard work

Been using v 0.6 and I'm very happy with it. I really do like where this ROM is going. I would like to see some theming options in the future, but from a usability standpoint I'm happy. Battery life is good and performance is good with Imo's kernel.

I think we are going to work on adding further functionality before we work on more theme options, but rest assured they are coming. If you can't wait, UTO kitchen is an awesome theming tool!
After hours and hours of trial and error, I FINALLY have the extra quick settings working. I have added 7n1 volume options, flashlight, task manager, reboot, and auto brightness.
If you have any requests for additional quick settings let me know and I'll see what I can do.
I think I'm going to work on a few more things before putting out an update.
*EDIT* I'm going to take a look at the lockscreen ring and see if I can raise it up a bit. I've read some complaints that it's hard to unlock because the ring is too low.
Here is The Droid Factory v0.6.1 Beta. The extra quick settings are added in this build.
Sorry for the slow update. The holidays kept us busy, especially MyComputerDoctor. I have also been trying to help Wolf with his OG Droid Factory ROM.
We are still looking into raising the lock ring.
No need to wipe. Enjoy!
