Bad drivers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547

Go to device manager on your PC and find any drivers named kindle, or android, and uninstall them (you might have to show hidden drivers for them to show) and install the ones that came with kfu. Then reboot your PC and plug your fire in to the USB. And it should recognize your device

I see you mentioned Samsung and root in the same sentence. Perhaps you already installed Samsung drivers? I had the same problem rooting my KF and this is what finally solved it for me: (quoted from android.stackexchange.com/questions/17625/where-is-debugging-mode-on-kindle-fire )
"You simply need to add the Fire's device ID to your android_usb.ini file so that the Google ADB drivers will find it. You can do this from the command line very easily with:
echo 0x1949 >> "%USERPROFILE%\.android\adb_usb.ini
Then restart adb
adb kill-server
adb start-server
"

Did you get it rooted?

Not yet but i made a mistake and hit 1 on kfu stuck at fire screen.
. Waiting on it to charge back up to attempt booting tonormal mode.
It still wasnt seen by windows though.

[Q] Need help unbricking

I'm fairly new to android devices and while editing the build.prop (because I wanted to install some incompatible apps) upon reboot, it shows kindle fire logo but then disappears and the screen fades and stays there. Help ?
I know there's a similar thread to this but I need beginner help. The main thread about unbricking is to difficult for me. I'm not even sure what the adb is or how to connect to it. Any help is appreciated.
Edit : I managed to connect it by adb now but sill need help solving this
Try holding the power button in for at least 20 seconds this should reset the device
After 20 seconds restart the kindle, leave it a while in can take a few minutes to restart properly.
This worked for me on a few occasions whilst tinkering
I've tried that before but doesn't work
You can give this script a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20356476&postcount=449
Thanks but pretty much everthing i try to do it says, 'operation not permitted'
it dos say adb, online, but fastboot it says, offline ?
For fastboot you need a factory cable .... Plugs into USB and puts it into fastboot.... Adb commands need su super user
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I'm not even sure I know what a factory cable is, would I need that to solve my issue ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392693
And yes if its bricked this is the only way to fix right now

So does my problem seem like its truly bricked ?
also I've never been good with that type of stuff, so is there a way to buy a factory cable ?
i looked on that link you gave me but they don't have any in stock.
Its the motorola factory cable look on Atrix or razr forum if not you may have to make it .... Its what I did not terribly hard
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
So the one that is listed not in stock, won't work for me?
can you point me to a video or tutorial that shows how to make the cable? if you can
If ADB is registered as online, you wouldn't need a fastboot cable with my script. It should be able to get you going.

[Q] Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.1 dwl link broken ?

is it just me or is the link down ??
yes - semms so - that means also:
!!! the KFU will not work at the time because it is downloading from there !!!
If you already have KFU downloaded, make sure to manually place the twrp.img file in \Kindle Fire Utility\recovery\ before you start the installation, or else you're going to have to get yourself out of a bricking.
EDIT: Here's a link for Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.1 with the twrp.img already in place (hoping Vashypooh doesn't mind). It'll work for installing TWRP, but NOT the Google Apps, since I don't know the exact contents of Apps.zip, and didn't have it previously downloaded. I don't have enough posts to post this in the main topic, so feel free to repost it there.

thx guys for the quick response !
I was just unsure if it was me doing somethings wrong ...
so i have to stick with v8 until it comes back up again, right ...
(allready dwl all the tmw and others stuff)
cheers
.8 will also not work - loads from the same source
i think no kfu version will work at the moment, besides .9.2.1 if you allready have downloaded all the needed programs (recovery folder)
don't exactly know in which version vashy build in not to redownload
Could this be the reason I have a brick now? I tried using this last night.

I had to turn my KF off and then plug it into my computer. Otherwise it wasn't recognized as anything by Windows. After that I reinstalled the driver I was using ( http://www.jayceooi. com/2011/12/29/how-to-install-kindle-fire-adb-usb-driver-video/ ), and then continued to use this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1422832, issuing the fastboot -i commands via the command prompt.
Good luck!

Maybe give a battery drain a shot? I read in some other threads that people were having luck by plugging in their dead Kindles.

Can somebody mirror the KFU links? They're broken, and the newest one will not flash TWRP

Odin is a samsung-only application but yeh, there should be ways to attain root without adb (most likely via recovery).
What about hiemdell??? The other version for ppl who can't use Odin ..idk to much about it tho

Same with Heimdall I believe as it was meant to be an implementation of Odin. I'm not too sure as to whether the Nexus 7 has a 'Download Mode', if it does, somebody might write an equivalent tool to use it.
Why bother with Odin or Heimdall when there's fastboot anyway ? I find fastboot to be much easier to use and it hasn't got that much of a learning curve.
This thread in the dev forum says you don't need adb:

The tool in that thread actually uses the ADB to perform all of it's actions, I would suggest install ADB, get the drivers working and test with "adb devices" that the drivers are working and the devices is visible and then run that tool to streamline the rest of the process for you.
I would always recommend having the ability to use ADB, especially when you're tinkering, it's always best to make sure ADB works in-case you need to perform any other tasks for the case that something goes wrong.

A fastboot only method is available on modaco complete with a batch file to do all the hard work. Think you will still need to unlock the boot loader first though.

[Q] PLEASE HELP!!! Cannot connect to computer!!!

Hey everyone, thanks in advance for the help. I just got a nexus 4 yesterday, that was already updated to 4.3 when I got it. My problem is when I go to unlock the boot loader, it won't recognize the phone. It says "list of devices attached" but doesn't give a serial number. Also, before this, it was giving a serial number, but was saying it was offline. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Any help is most appreciated.

You might need updated adb/fastboot exe/dll's. Grab them from a toolkit, that's what I did.

Try this... When you're connected to the PC , toggle USB debugging off and on.. It might ask for authorisation of ur PC in your phone.. Give yes.. Then do adb devices .. You might fight the offline thing gone

I did that, got it to boot into boot loader through adb, then my fastboot drivers wouldn't install. So I uninstalled everything and started from scratch and now I can't even get the serial number to come up.

Hmm.. doesn't it get shown as Android devices under device manager?
I too had a similar kind of problem with adb. I uninstalled the drivers manually and installed it again using Koush's Universal ADB (Android Debug Bridge) Driver for Windows. It has fastboot thing also. It worked for me.

You can also try someone else's PC or something. Install the drivers using the above link and just fastboot. Sorry, if that is of not much help. I'm new, both to this place and to this Nexus 4 device as well. All the best.

Unroot, TWRP, SU GONE WRONG!

I was trying to get my Kindle Fire HD 7, getting it ready to sell (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2409435). But i've done something wrong, i have transfered the file to my Kindle, wipe everything expect sd. Afterwards i flashed the update 7.4.6 bin, and wipe the sd again. And rebooted my Kindle fire. And now its stuck on the Kindle Fire logo. HELP! I need fix this within the next 24 hours! I DO NOT have a fastboot cable either.
Does the logo ever turn blue? If it doesn't you will need a fastboot cable to fix.

No! it's just stuck on the orange logo. I dont have a fastboot cable, i'm selling this within the next 24 hours to someone. I need to get this fix ASAP!
Well unless you can make a fastboot cable with a soldering iron then your going to have some problems. I can try to see if you can get it into fastboot the way we do 8.9" models, but if you plug the device in and your PC doesn't detect a Tate device in the device manager then you will have to goto the fastboot cable method. If it does then try to quickly install the drivers in my signature. From there you would just need a command prompt and the fastboot command.
