download youtube videos? - Acer Iconia A500

Is there a way I can download YouTube videos on this tab? Whether it be through a site or an app?

The answer is yes! There are many apps on Google store that can do this just put a search in

I've went to the market and typed in YouTube and tried to find something and typed in download YouTube and didn't find anything

yesssssss! snappzmarket
yes there are many but i believe they were taken off go to http://m.snappzmarket.com/ and download its an alternative app store where you can get paid apps for free...
then search tubemate on snappzmarket might have to update it though should be good
allows you to pick quality for downloading and viewing its a nice app
link for the .apk if you dont want snappzmarket http://m.tubemate.net/

+1 for TubeMate
Not the most appealing UI , but works good. Fair trade off. Lets you pick from different qualities. Lets you log into your YouTube account and access your Favorites and other account stuff.
The UI looks better on the a500 tablet it does on my G-Nexus phone though.
I use it all the time to quickly load my tablet or phone with music videos, then use iMediaShare to beam across to my PS3 and 360 for viewing or copying to console HDD (PS3 only).
If I only want to view/copy YouTube vids on the PS3, then I just use iMediaShare and skip the TubeMate - to - droid device step.

YouTube Downloading

Hi, i know the touch diamond has a you tube application, but does it allow you actually download the videos and watch it later without any connections. or is there any other application that will allow me to download youtube videos??
Thanks !
Well I know you can paste the youtube url of the video on a site like keepvid.com and it lets u dl the file in mp4 format, and use the built in video player to play it smoothest
No, the YouTube application does not allow one to save the videos to the device, though I can say it is a great little application. They seem to have kept it rather basic, yet done a great job with it.
You have access to what I believe is all the videos from YouTube, so not like with the iPhone where you had videos compressed and put into a format suitable for iPhone.
With the YouTube application, you can Bookmark your favourite videos, search videos, see lists of top rated, featured and most popular videos, you can send someone links to the videos by email (not really looked at that feature) and there is the setting where you can have it on fast download or higher quality streaming and then there is auto which I think is based upon your internet connection speed.
To watch the videos, there is no better application out there that I am aware of. I also use CorePlayer occasionally too.
As the previous poster mentioned, you can access YouTube through your web browser, take the URL, copy and paste it in at Keepvid.com and then save the file to your device that way.
Here is Youtube downloader found on the xda

HQ videos

Hi
Is there a way to keep YouTube videos (or any other videos for that matter) playing in high quality, rather than having to click the left key -> More -> Watch in high quality every single time?
Cheers
you can find several apps that can download YouTube videos in the market
in the market type YouTube downloader and apps should appear
I tried a few and liked jetvd the best, however I use freedi YouTube downloader - its been discontinued but you can still download from the developers site an old version and install it.
I also saw that there's an app called freedi YouTube download helper but you need to have dolphin browser or login with YouTube account so I didn't bother with it
hope u got wat ur looking for
Just use Skyfire and go on the full YouTube site, it should automatically play them in HQ.

[Q] how to watch netflix movies on htc evo

Hi guys i have been trying to see movies in netflix and i can't. Is there anything out there that can make it possible for me to watch the movies on my evo.
Not yet. Netflix is worKing on an app. There was a dev forum about it but that was pretty much abandoned I think. Right now we just have to wait for a ruu to leak or until the official app its released.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Download swarm, get movies in avi format...works for me.
thank you. do you know any good app to watch full movies.
to open the avi format do i need another program or it will open once i download something.
I just use the stock playernow but I don't watch too many movies anymore on my phone. I did use the v player when it was free, the dev is charging now.
sorry to ask too much, but can you tell me how it works, because i just download it and it just say click on the add tab and i dont know what to do. thank you
Not sure what your talking about, what app are you using? What are you doing? Oh go to a torrent site, find what you want to download then click "download torrent" then you'll download a small file, drop down the notification click the link and swarm should pop up, hit that and the app will work its magic.
the one that you told me swarm but when i opened it says "no active torrents, click the add buttom above to add a torrent".
bro i went to 4share.com i put .avi just to download anything, and i download a video i did what you told me, i drop the notification click on the video and nothing happens it says cannot open the file. **** i guess movies it impossible for me on the cell. thank you.

i don't believe so
while multi tasking on android; android freezes the app in RAM till you return to it
i believe the only android device that can truly multi task ie watching youtube and emails etc is the Sprint Kyocera but thats a phone

That's the closest thing you are going to get.
Dolphin browser mini lets you have a flash app play in a background tab. Not when you switch apps though.
Maybe this app will help?

Thanks for the link to Ghosttown..that's a great app. Only one little niggle with it though....
because it takes the video from youtube, it doesn't distinguish between the album versions and the live versions....it won't filter...so when you choose an album...you could get all kinds of versions of a tune, not necessarily the proper one from the album chosen.

How to show photos on Nexus Player (Android TV)

I was hoping to be able to just install google photos app on nexus player and be able to show my photos from the gallery - but it's not android TV compatible.
Is there an app for showing photo galleries on nexus player?
(I know I can cast it from my phone - but I'm not too happy with the quality of the pictures when casting... I would just rather be able to show them either from a local network folder or my google photos gallery.)
Any tips?
Funny enough, it looks like there's now a native Android TV Google Photos app. This must have just been (quietly) updated. It doesn't even look finished yet. Anyway, I installed it on my NP. It doesn't show up in the apps to launch unless you have Sideload Launcher. I was able to launch it from there and sure enough, it looks just like the tablet version of Google Photos, and it's synched to my Google Photos account. I haven't been able to get it to "play" a slideshow yet (it takes forever to "sync") but I can see the previews so I'm assuming if not now, then shortly you can do so natively.
Of course, you can cast from Google Photos on a phone or tablet, but you know that
You can view photos in Kodi or Solid Explorer and both of those apps can access files from a Samba (SMB) server on your local network. If you have a wireless router such as the D-Link DIR-880L which supports this feature with external USB drives, it's easy and convenient to stream content in its original quality.
Thanks for the replies guys. I did finally use kodi for showing the pictures - I did download google photos app, but I was not going to be fidgeting with a keyboard - so it was just easier with kodi and a remote.

Hi mickliq
Can you give details about that application and the sideload launcher? I have a Sony TV with Android TV installed 5.1.1.
Thanks,
P.S. Install Sideload Launcher from Play Store then install Google Photos also, you will only be able to launch Google Photos from Sideload, testing right now.
Android TV Photo Gallery and Screensaver App
Hi all,
Just in case anyone was still looking, we've made a dedicated Android TV photo gallery app. It currently supports your Google Photos, as well as Facebook and Flickr. We're releasing local, USB and network photo support soon.
Just search in a browser for "Furnaghan Photo Gallery and Screensaver" to find it, or simply "photo gallery" on your Android TV play store. (Sorry, I'm not allowed to share links yet!)

Thanks! Glad you like the app. I'm afraid we'd rather prioritise a nice experience, ads just get in the way of that in our opinion -sorry!
