Running stock rooted. Random crashes and fullscreen flash video does not work. Anyone else?

yes. it sucks since I updated. rooted w/ unlocked bootloader/custom kernal running civato's flexreaper. Doubt it is a problem with the rom but probably due to problems with the app and compatibility with ICS. Used to be my go browser (still is on my phone) but not any more for my tablet. I have problems with them all really (no flash in chrome) and random crashes throughout all. For me browser+ seems the most stable.
Same problems with Dolphin for Pad, when I installed ICS (first FlexReaper, now TO ICS), so I changed to Dolphin Browser HD, which is very stable. Only issues I am experienceing are FCs when playing flash in full screen. This is not occuring with Opera Mobile.
With best regards, maris
try Opera its alot better anyway!
It hasn't been updated in almost a year, so not surprising. Dolphin HD works as does Opera.
Not sure if same on the 500, but the only browser that sees the 510 correctly as a desktop device is Opera.
I prefer Dolphin, but same as the others, regardless of UA seeing used.
The only other device I had that did this was the DX2.
Have resolved some issues but uninstalling and reinstalling flash. More stable in normal view, but still no fullscreen. Also switched to ICS+ browser. Not perfect but better.

So far, browsers have been the ONLY issue I've had with ICS. All of them. We're talking Chrome Beta, the generic stock browser, Dolphin HD, and Firefox. Deciding that it can't be every browser, I uninstalled/reinstalled Flash, no better. Did a hard reset, reinstalled everything, and running smooth as silk.
I'm on the stock browser and have few if any issues with it. I did experience the same on Dolphin both HD and for Tablet...but as another poster stated, I still have it as default on my phone. If anyone finds a better recommendation from what's been listed as I'm not a big Opera fan either let me know, but stock is rock solid for me thus far. (FlexReaper Extreme)...
Good luck,

About the same here : every web browser just seemed to be faulty. Actually it worked, but every once in a while it got stuck and freezed for several seconds and then a message popped up saying the application didn't respond any more. All I had to do was to choose "wait" instead of "close" and right after it worked perfectly (until the next time). But that was VERY annoying.
I did a hard reset and so far everything seems to work perfectly, it's even faster than before and no more freezes.
I have been using Maxthon Mobile Browser on my rooted 510 for several weeks with no issues.
Related
been using the stock browser but from previous experience its not the best.
currently trying opera (full version), which seems to be quite snappy, and I have noticed that typing lag is almost non existent.....this was very noticeable the stock browser.
personally I really like boat browser on my vibrant, but not available for tablets of yet.
dolphin browser
Opera browser mobile, is by far the best browser at the moment, although using for any text imput can be frustrating especially in pages like facebook due to the tap inside and out of the box issue, however I do like the stock browser apart from the typing lag which for some reason varies day to day. I am using the stock brower to write this and the lag is only slight this morning
I to use the stock browser, it seems pretty stable to me and pinch to zoom is very smooth.
Since i have exchanged my transformer i havent had any force closes with the stock browser yet.Admittedly i have only been using it for under 24 hours but it appears a lot more stable for some reason. I have the same apps installed so i have ruled out that an app was causing the stability issues. Iwill keep testing over the next few days but as of now iam happy with the performance apart from the standard keyboard lag.

I use Firefox as I'm a diehard Mozilla supporter. I like it more than the stock browser, but that's just me. And no I'm not a fanboy that thinks everyone should use Firefox I just prefer it over all other choices.
Stock browser for now.
I've been using Opera Mobile lately. It's nice and fast, though I prefer the layout on the stock browser. The stock browser is buttery-smooth most of the time, but chugs out occasionally. Opera, while not quite as smooth, is always constant. I've never seen it slow down.
I briefly tried Firefox and promptly removed it. It was the laggiest browsing experience I've encountered on my Transformer. I don't understand how they can make something so simple run so poorly.
My browser of choice is opera mobile. Aside from a few small annoyances I think it really blows the stock browser away except for the quick controls which are nice

Opera mini for most sites. Dolphin for desktop versions of sites. Stock for Facebook. xda works by far the best on opera mini. flash is broken on any browser still (google/asus fault) really hoping that is fixed soon.
I like to use stock browser, it is fast and the interface looks the best me, but it always crash (without any error prompt) keeping me to stay away from it. For now I use dolphin for stability.
Been using Dolphin Browser HD for a while now. Better than the stock browser which kept FC'ing on me. Havn't tried Opera yet, maybe I'll give it a go tonight.
I liked the stock one, but decided to try new ones to get rid of some lag.
I didn't like Dolphin neither Miren.
I thought Opera was great, but tehe textbox input is horrible . This is the third time I am writing the answer to this post , and I hate loosing typed text. I am googling to see if I can get rid of this textbox or else unistalling opera.
Regards.
Opera Mobile - almost perfect but strange tabs (if you can get used to it it should be perfect).
Dolphin Browser - great, but has severe issues with opening links in new tabs (and opening links in general).
Stock browser - not that bad either.
Try Maxaton Browser. It's designed specifically for 10-inch tablets. It also doesn't default to mobile sites.
Dolphin HD is good too, because there is a desktop mode setting. I don't need mobile sites on my "tab-uter"

Plus 1 for the above he is bang on.
I use opera for daily usage, but maxthon is nice too.
I mainly use the stock browser because it has the best keyboard shortcut support. I also use Dolphin HD because it has LastPass integration and the second-best keyboard support.
I keep Firefox around for when things don't work with those two, but it doesn't seem to support any keyboard shortcuts, which is strange. Opera and Maxaton, ditto, but not strange.
I wish a Desktop port for Firefox would come... But Opera has ZERO keyboard lag, vs all of the other browsers.
Opera also has a stupid tab browser, and text box issues.
Hell, a Chrome port would be amazing too! I want my addons/extensions! NOW!
Does your Stock Browser never crash, my stock browser crashes all the time.
Running tasks v5 rom, much better than before, but still get a lot of freezes (forcing a hard reset by me) or force closes where the browser disappears. Nyone else getting these yet?
No browser freeze on mine.
I have problem accessing seekingalpha.com. Browser (stock) wouldn't load content and than just chrashes. It happens everytime, with no exeptions. Could someone try to open it and let me know what happens?

I'm not web expert, so I don't know what's going on with this site, or in what "technology" is it written. But, they have changed site recently, and since than it started to be extremely slow on my HTC Desire (Gingerbread), like beating the hell out of the processor. And now I found out that crashes Honeycomb browser.
Is there any way to contact Google to point them to this problem? I couldn't find it...
Opera or Dolphin can open it. But also, there are some rendering problems in Dolphin with left column (adds and some links on the top). It's dynamic (moving with you as you scroll the page), so that could be source of the problem.
I haven't had a problem with this site really, mostly when the keyboard is up (using Swiftkey) or quickly scrolling. Also other things like samsung email app and a few games seem to cause problems.
All seems very random and infrequent, can't find a pattern to them yet.
Just got my first browser FC today, happened twice when trying to add a bookmark
could this be a hardware problem? The tab freezes several times a day, usually on the browser (use that the most too), also in exchange email app and various games. It's driving me nuts. Tried every rom out there as well as stock and pershoots kernel.
Anyone have any ideas? It's driving me crazy and I'm curious if I could have a serious problem or if it's something the right update could fix.
I use Dolphin for Pad browser (not Dolphin mini or HD). Never had a FC.
tried dolphin. No difference.
have u tried the v6.1, got some (few) lags on v5 but v6.1 is smooth (for me) now
Yes, I've tried 5,6, 6.1,overcome, starburst. Makes no difference.
In Dolphin use the desktop agent instead of Android. It' their mobile site that causes the problem. If your rooted you should be able to set the stock browser to desktop also.
On Tiamat 2.1.0. I was happily using Dolphin Browser HD 6.2.0 until around 2 days ago, when it suddenly stopped connecting. It wouldn't connect to any domain anymore (stock browser works just fine).
So I uninstalled it with the intention of downloading + reinstalling it from the market. Guess what, it's not even showing up in the market! I guess either the makers of Dolphin or Google are hiding it for Honeycomb.
What I did find was Dolphin Mini though, for some reason, so I decided to give it a shot instead. Well, it has the ssame problem Dolphin HD had: it won't connect at all.
I'm stumped at this mess. I tried to find a Dolphin HD apk but didn't want to download just any mysterious file from anywhere. But above all, I have no idea why Dolphin (both HD and Mini) would stop working all of a sudden.
The only change I can remember doing before it stopped working was to update a few apps, including the Opera browser. I don't see how that would affect Dolphin though.
Any ideas, anyone?

Works fine for me. Just go to their website. They have a new beta version of the HD browser.
After flash to ICS, the stock browser quits suddenly and frequently. Do you notice that?
I am trying the dolphin now.
Same thing started occure right after flash update. It happens to me when I browse a page with lot of flash. Even I like the stock browser very much, especialli the new shortcuts but for stable browsing I had to switch to Chrome beta (no flash support) or Dolphin.

I don't use that browser but last time I ran a logcat on it I got errors with the Java activity being destroyed as the logcat stated. I believe it is flash related.
Try uninstalling Flash, use the browser normally. See if it crashes. If it doesn't, install flash again. That will at least prove to you that flash is the culprit.
Add me to the list of browser crashing and closing... Getting annoyed by that and the random reboots that get stuck at Asus loading screen

Happened to me once, so far, but my TF101 has only had light use since the ICS update. This never happened with HC.
I think this deserves a thread. as the title states if you were to go to YouTube full site and try to play a video as soon as its about to play the advert it crashes causing the browser to become unresposive to touch.
does not matter which browser you use it has same effect.
other sites tested are ustream and Justin TV. various flash sites used to watch football also have the same problem although sometimes after deleting cache on opera in app manager I can get football to run.
I'm pretty sure 3.2.1 did not have these issues.
if this a Acer problem. will they fix this? I also think it could be a flash player problem with our tablets which could be fixed in a update from them.
I'm on a custom rom but I'm just off to test on my girlfriends tab which is stock....brb
OK I'm back. exactly the same tried to play a video on YouTube and as it about to play it froze the browser and the video.
3.2.1 looks so appealing right now. anyway people who say there browsers don't freeze obviously don't use many flash sites.
if anyone knows any settings that may help in the about:config department of opera please let me no otherwise I'd love to find anyone with a workaround.....
I am having this problem as well with dolphin, chrome and stock browser when ever I try to go to full screen. However last night I downloaded browser + (basically an enhanced stock browser) and it worked fine all night long. I played about 3 consecutive hours of full screen flash videos and didn't have one browser crash. Not sure what the problem with the other browsers is.

thanks, might give that a try then.
im sure it will be ironed out sooner or later..
anyone know if theres away to log the crashes?
EDIT: Indeed you are correct. broswer+ does not crash on justin.tv....
Any tips on forcing it to use youtube full site as no matter what i try (even ticking box) it forces back to the mobile site.
Cheers for the tip mate it will certainly make ICS a whole lot better to use at the minute
EDIT 2: you just made my morning looks like browser+ is the way to go. ustream works perfectly too.
just like to add a further note that BOAT browser works great and does not freeze when using any of the sites i have listed. so thats browser+ and BOAT that work ok with flash
I also should now add I'm on a custom 4.0.4 android and flash with opera works great. Even full screen on full YouTube.
Very strange but I'm not complaining now.

i'll give opera a shot as well
Same issues
Two of the most irritating problems I had with HC was:
1. ALL web browsers would randomly crash--> auto shut downs that wiped all temp and open files in the browser. Stock browser was the worst, followed up by Opera, Dolphin, Mirix browser, and a couple other nobody apps. None worked flawlessly. This is enraging when you are typing an email and it dies, you lose all your work!!!
2. My bluetooth Motorola keyboard would stutter and die. Keys would stick, etc. Another maddening problem.
The ICS OTA I received did not rectify these two critical issues for me either. Hence why I invested time and energy into learning how to unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM.
Those two problems that were unresolvable were deal breakers for me running anything from Acer.
I routinely sent alogcat files to Dolphin techie team. They were not able to deduce why their browser would auto-die during session. But hey, at least the Dolphin team responded and tried.
Opera support is miserable. I sent them what they wanted: their advice? Uninistall Opera and re-install. I did. Four times. Still problem persisted.
I would get SoD's on HC and my tablet was unrooted and unmodded at the time.
I would get SoD's infrequently on stock ICS, but enough it made me move to another ROM.
So to answer your question: Your device is not alone with these problems. Seems it is something in Acer's ROM's that do this. Some bug they dont bother to fix. And I assume it is in the stock ROM's, because I did factory recovery and factory wipes too, and it did not repair this bug with auto-die browsers and spotty bluetooth connectivity.
My solution?
Go custom ROM. Flash an unlocked bootloader, install the latest greatest flavor you take fancy to, install either the Lightspeed 4.5 (i think they are up to 4.7 now...), Flexreaper RC1_v3, or that Thor ROM. All are good, I'm partial to Flexreaper cuz it has that totally customizable Acer Ring.
All those ROM's out of the gate are faster and have more clever apps in them than Acer-junk.
Juss sayin.
