Newbie guide for install CM 7.2.0 on Motorola Flipside MB - Flipside General

Newbie guide for install CM 7.2.0 on Motorola Flipside MB
This is a compilation of info from other posts, so I collect it only to make somewhat easy to follow the process since it was somewhat messy to follow for me and would like to try to help others in the same case....
Please read well all other posts if You habe doubts, and, as always in this cases, do this process to flash under your own risk...
Please, if somebody may add help or correct these notes, please do, so it will be very gratefull!
0) If You had some mods or may be stuck, You would be able to return You FlipSide to stock by falsh the Moto SBF, follow the instructions on this post:
Froyo SBF and Bootloader for Flipside MB508 AT&T USA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227063
0.5) ( )Your FlipSide must be rooted in order to proceed, so check the info available, in my case I dont reber well but I believe that I used SuperOneClick Utility (and also please check the post #9 below for other clues!) (Thanks jorgerivera! )
1) Install 2ndInit_Installer Recovery in Flipside
Download the recovery file of this posT;
2ndInit_Installer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471549
Then unrar it, and follow the instructions below (Thanks to WinSUK)
You should be able to install it like this:
- Extract everything in the "data" folder into a folder called "bootmenu" on your sdcard
- Then use either "adb shell" from a command prompt, or Terminal Emulator on the phone should work:
Code:
su
cp -R /sdcard/bootmenu /data/bootmenu
cd /data/bootmenu
chmod 0755 *
./install.sh
And it should say "Install complate...."
You can also remove the folder(s) if you want:
Code:
rm -R /data/bootmenu
rm -R /sdcard/bootmenu
Maybe try "rm -R /system/bootmenu" then install it
Then to get into it, reboot the phone and once the notification light turns on, hit volume down
If there some trouble, maybe try "rm -R /system/bootmenu" then install it... and if there still trouble, please read the post of recovery from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471549&page=2
2) Install Leidaxin CM 7.2.0 rom (last version available at this post is CyanogenMod 7.2.0 (Android 2.3.7)(2012.04.09)
Donwload the rom from this link:
link : http://www.mediafire.com/?h6rt2y995mgwxv2
and then follow the instructions to install:
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Copy *.zip to sdcard
2. Reboot your device in BootMenu/ClockWork
Turn ON the FlipSide and when you see the Notification LED Light BLINK inmediatly press VolumeDown Key for 1 second and release and after 1-2seconds the Recovery Android Bootmenu <v1.1.8> will appear.
So use Volume Up & Down keys to move and Power key to select the option...
Go to Recovery menu then select Custom Recovery
3. Then go to wipe data/factory reset and the do wipe cache partition)
4. Then go to Install zip from sdcard and instal the rom *zip
5. Install the file gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip on the phone so you would got Android Market/Play store available!
(Thanks hainesbe! )
6. Reboot
I wrote this in order to try to help others since the info is splitted in various diferent posts, so if have doubts please read this posts in order to get info from other people experiences with this rom.
Thanks & credits to all the people, specially Laidaixin, WinSuk and other that work until the point at today, so, if You could help will be very gratefull since seems no too much details pending for have this rom fully working.
Best regards to all!

It's a problem with the current port...
You can get around it by checking "Use only 2G networks" in Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks. Won't be able to use 3G though

Thank You for your kind worddds and I am really happy that it help a friend around here...
Well, by now I didnt use my flipSide since I moved to a Captivate Glide, but I passed it to my wife that wants and likes it since is nice size and form factor, and after 2 weeks since I passed to her, she is really happy and loves it...
I hope that this move in dev for the Flip could gain some impulse and I also very gratefull to Laidaxin for such great work.
Best regards to all!

Thx very much, you are a good guy!

Hi xaser66,
I followed your instructions and they helped a lot. I only had a bit of trouble with step 1, since my phone was not rooted. I think you should note that you need to root before this step (specially if you have just completed step 0, which would "un-root").
Since I work on a Linux workstation 99.99% of the time, I used the Linux script version of ZergRush by paxchristos updated by amishxda from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20869699.
However, the original (windows) zergRush by DoomLord (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582) or a relatively new version of SuperOneClick should work as well.
So, I think that might be your 0.5 step.
Anyway, once I rooted, I found your instructions very precise and helpful.
¡Pura vida y muchas gracias!

Thanks for kind post and glad that It may help You... Well, by now I only look around here very few since I moved to a i927 glide (but still like to look from time to time, in order to follow the great work of Laidaxin, Winsuk and other great friends around here, so Ilike to check about if may be possible that ICS may come to the faithful FlipSide... since in fact mine was in hands of my wife since some time ago and by today she is very happy with the little Flip)
So, thank You and thanks to all again!... (...and is great and surprised to see another Tico around here! :-D )
Best regards to all!
P.D.
Pura Vida de tu parte, muchas gracias!! (Ahora soy por el lado de Heredia porsiaca. Saludos y que pases bien tuanis!!... :-D )

PERFECT!
You all have brought new life to my little flipside. (My daughter is dying for an Android of her own) Once I put the gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip on the phone it's running like a champ!
From a noob of android ROMs, this guide was REALLY helpful!
B
(Edit Actually, xaser66, would you mind adding that as an optional 3rd step? Getting the google market was pretty important (at least to me) so I could hand it off to my daughter.
Again, thank you for this guide, it was VERY helpful!
(Still waiting the 5 minute Noob waiting period before I can post this edit. ; )

Thanks for kind words and I already add the step as You suggest, and also, I am glad that Your daughter was happy and hope still so. Please excuse my old reply since I didnt came to Flipside forum often since so long time ago (now I am in S3 i9300 since by my account my carrier offer one me an semi gift for around $150 new in box with still my montly payment.. )
But, I still look around here since my wife is using the Flipside and very happy with model size and nice features, so I look from time to time in order to see if there some rom improvement for it, since I still appreciate the faithfull little Flipside as it serves me... (and I remenber that I bought it on ebay simply for use as a dummy test for checking my 3g coverage in my country and then it turns to be my main phone! )
Well, too much sh!t chat from me... Thanks again for you help and best regards!

[Samsung Moment] Root Instructions

EDIT: This information is out dated now but visit the link below for updated info.
taken from here http://www.samsungmomentforum.com/rooting/root-access-(finally-achieved!)/
1) Partition your SD Card to have first partition as fat16 and second ext3 [this tutorial assumes you have this setup exactly as stated]
2) Boot in Test Mode with Call+Center+Power
3) copy root into your tools directory of the sdk
4) adb push root /system
5) adb shell chmod 0755 /system/root
6) adb shell /system/root
7) unplug usb, remove battery, reboot into test mode when instructed
8) adb shell
9) /system/bin/btld_testmode
10) /system/root
Excellent. It work!. Just do exatly the steps above. Thanks for putting all this info together.
FYI... Samsung post the source code of the samsung moment.
Is this temp or persistent root? For temp root I don't think partitioning the sd card is necessary or at least I didn't partition it when I temp rooted my Moment.
Was a long time WinMo user, I was stuck with a Moto Q9c on sprint for way to long. I'm still stuck with sprint, but got the Moment in hopes of having a badass Android to start with.
Night and Day compared to my Q, the root is key though, custom rom's were so easy on the Q.
soooo im a newb to android, same question as johnbarry3434.
does it stick?
I've got two Moment's(thanks sprint for shipping me 2 and charging me for neither) ?maybe one for test purposes?
Anything I can do to help the rooting process, please let me know
Sorry guys but I'm very new to this android. Only had my phone for a week now. Is rooting like flashing a custom ROM for the Touch Pro?
Does this require seperate adb drivers for the Samsung phone?? If so where can I get them and are there any avaliable for Ubuntu???
Hi guys,
I have just gotten myself a Samsung Spica. Can I use this guide as well? Is there a ROM-update tool for the Spica?
I'm really n00b, so any help is appreciated
I need someone with this rooted phone to contact me, I need to get some data from it so I can work on something for it.
Please contact me at [email protected]
Thanks
hey look i am brand new to this whole root thing i just got my moment two days ago i am used to the simple jailbreak iphone stuff but this is a whole new level
i am on windows vista and i do not understand any of this at all please someone email me some simpler instructions or make a video or something just to help me out in some way please and thank you
my email: [email protected]
use the search Service people
Now that moment is rooted?
Will there be any chance of us getting a custom rom of andorid using sense ui?
i dont really see any point in rooting my phone if there is no MAJOR thing you can do with it..
I cannot get my samsung to root
I have the updated cupcake cl14 and when I boot my phone with talk+center+power, I boot into a test mode that lets me test the screen, keyboard, and so on. I did copy the root file (supplied from the instructions ) to the main part of my card on both partitions, and partitioned it just as it stated in the 1st step. I don't understand what the "adb" is and how to use it. Can this only be down with windows because I'm am using Ubuntu. I know adb is advance debugging bridge but after some google searches I still don't know how to use it. I now a little about chmod 0755 because of Ubuntu but any "hand-holding" instructions would be great thankyou to everyone who is willing to help me and others out with this problem.
Is there still no "real" benefit for root access for the Moment? As in no good reason to root the phone? My girlfriend has one and I was hoping that it was at least close behind my Hero by now in terms of root access benefits....TIA

try this
http://forum.samdroid.net/threads/13-How-to-get-Root-on-Samsung-i5700-EN-02-10-v-LK10
just got my phone and can't increase the size of the fonts was told rooting is the only way even with using spare parts.
first of what program can I use to partition the sd card I am running windows XP. and everything I have downloaded today would only see the internal drive.
For those of you still looking for how to root your Samsung Moment (you don't have to use your SDCard either) there are two HOW TOs posted at PPCGeeks under the NON-WM DEVICES>ANDRIOD>SAMSUNG MOMENT
One explains how to root phone with CJ05
The other explains how to root phones that have CL14 out-the-box or officially updated to CL14
I would post a link except I'm not permitted to post an outside link... just go to PPCGeeks(dot)com and click on their forum
So what Now!!!!
Okay I see you have this placed here.. I like... I have a Nexus and 2 Droids, wife and mine.. Nexus ALL mine.. HAHAHA..
My sister, wifes sister, she has the Moment.. I have always wanted to root this just cause of the 800mhz processor... This was the first device to almost meet up with the Nexus before it was even thought up..
Is there Roms, Themes, Kernels, etc.. I see nothing, but a root, useless, without an accommodation, thanks anyway, always good to have the key to the door first..
Somebody, PM me if not on, or reply here, I'll come back around...
cool that i made the front page but the info is out dated now.
yes this info is way outdated. just flash the kernel with speedyrabbit's or joeykrim's kernel and you'll have persistent root, plus a much faster phone.
also, speedyrabbit's kernel has wifi tether and flash_image support. you can download from www(dot)sdx-developers(dot)com.

[GUIDE] Droid X

Hi everyone,
I picked up a Droid X a few days ago and I have been looking into modifying it ever since. So far I have successfully Rooted, De-Odex'd, and installed custom themes. Being new to the android platform, it has taken some time to learn and there is still more to know. I have started to piece together a guide and I am looking for some input from the community to correct/add/remove tips/tricks/tools/etc as needed.
Please take the time to review and let me know what you thoughts are. Let me know what you encountered when trying to do a specific task. For us n00b's out there, let me know what you were unsure of and how you resolved the issue. My goal is to make one source for the Droid X that gets rid of most confusion.
Look forward to your input.
Thanks!
Update 10/26/2010: Guide Complete, still open for suggestions, just PM me.
Updated attached guide and also posted to wiki.

Nice work! +1 on zaphod's sug. ping me if you need any help!
Will do, I have some more work I'd like to do on it though. Thanks for the tips and support
Dude...seriously...THANK you. Step-by-step directions are great when you only have a vaguely general idea of what you're supposed to be doing (that's what happens when you still haven't tried to learn though, so it's kinda my fault...).
Hey- this is awesome. Keep up the good work. Don't forget- now that we can overclock - those will be useful instructions since they are pretty confusing for noobs right now.
nice work!
Thanks for taking the time to write this up for all of us trying to hack our Droid X's.
nice guide, i didnt realize the recovery mod was so easy until i read this. nice to have a backup now.
Does anyone have anytips on getting this root to work. Ive installed the drivers and followed the instructions on the guide but for some reason when i hit the root button it gets hung up halfway through it. Then it can find my DroidX. help plzz
Thanks in advance

Guide is a bit out dated. A much easier root method is z4root. apk and support page below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
1. Download .apk, copy to SD card.
2. Enable "Unknown sources" (Settings => Applications => check "Unknown sources"
3. Use file manager to navigate to file on SD card, install. I recommend rebooting before install and again after install, prior to running root command from within z4root. <= may help the process run smoother.
4. Open z4root, tap Permanent Root, let it run, once complete your device should restart and you would then be rooted.
Next step, installing ROM's. Many great ROM's out there, I highly recommend Liberty.

[Q] question: step to step guide to install custom roms?

hi! i'm a new guy here, and i have an lg gt 540 with the 1.6 android version
i'm a total beginner in these things of smartphones, but i'd really like to upgrade it and put a 2.2 or 2.3 version of android, but i'm not so sure how to do it
i searched for topics and guides here but none of them were too clear of them, and any of them were for my especific telephone
so i'm asking the obvious haha, anyone could help me and post a step to step guide for installing a custom rom in this especific cell phone? please, i kinda hate this right now, i can't install anything XD
and well if not, or in addition, if someone wants to help me step by step through pms or msn or somethign like that, it would be great too!
and well, the last one, if i can get a guide to do it, wich rom could you recommend me? to get all the potential of this cell phone XD hah
well, that's all, hope you can help me, i know a lot of guys ask the same, but i didn't see any for this lg...
thanks in advance!
Guide for unlocking fastboot and flashing custom roms.
http://androidforums.com/optimus-gt...nogenmod-7-android-2-3-4-avaliable-gt540.html
My app root toolbox will flash a recovery image, all download links in my signature.
For root access use z4root. Don't update to 2.1 because z4root doesn't work on some versions of it.
Also have a look here before you change roms/unlock fastboot

Hey there
Nice to see you're still on 1.6 , We really need your help right now!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123968
If you haven't already rooted , Follow these steps :
1. Download http://bit.ly/9wAKC5 and transfer to phones SD Card
2. Download Astro File Manager in Market (Or any other file manager)
3. Open the file manager and locate the application you downloaded
4. Click on the File and Install the Universal Androot .apk
5. Run Universal Androot and select Superuser for 2.0 - 2.2
6. Click 'Go Root'
7. Follow any restart prompts
8. Go back into market and download Terminal Emulator
9. Follow the instructions from the CODE box on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123968
10. The files will be created in the backup1.6 folder on the SD
11. Using a computer, .ZIP these files and upload them to the filesharing site of your choice
12. Share the link to us
13. Be very proud of yourself, you've helped us all
Then after , I would install 2.1 using LG Software Updater (Easiest Method)
But EVERYTHING is deleted , Including contacts and SMS when doing so. To backup contacts , click Contacts , Press Menu and press Export then Export to SD
To backup SMS I recommend SMS Backup and Restore from Market.
Hope I helped Jamie
haha okei, i'll try to do that so i can give you a recovery imagine of 1.6
and you told me to upload to official 2.1 android through lg site,, i am known that 2.1 is just, mmm , as 1.6 XD i mean, you have problems to install things in the sd, and many apks does not work, and the flash is dead x.x haha
but well, i'll do that first before upgrading to another version!

[Q] U8800 bricked, update fails...

Hey guys,
I'm experiencing some serious case of bricking here. It is most probably caused of accidentally installing wrong .zip file that is actually not for u8800. When i try to go into recovery or regularly boot it up, i see the infamous green screen with blue and red blocks. My only possible interaction with phone could be done by pink screen cuz i think it's working.
Anyway, most of forums i've been on states getting the original image folder and putting the official Android 2.3.5 UPDATE.app to dload folder in my sd card, then booting up or going into download mode (which both do the same thing, starts the update process) without the battery attached and the phone connected to the pc via an USB cable. The only problem is whenever i try this, the update stucks on around 30% of the bar and when this happens, the red light switches on and off more frequently than before indicating there was something wrong with the process.
Am i doing something wrong here? What do you guys have else to offer? There is almost no forum left in xda, modaco and androidhelp that i didn't check out. I'm going to start throwing up threads here. Please help me!

I decided to do it using Virtualbox but i had some problems specifying the directory of the .bin file (It's on desktop)
Here is the example command given:
[email protected] ~ $ sudo dd if=/media/Data/u8800/HUAWEI_U8800_FullFlash.bin of=/dev/sdc
My command:
[email protected] ~ $ sudo dd if=/home/myusername/Desktop/HUAWEI_U8800_FullFlash.bin
Am i coding wrong, incomplete or it cannot simply be done in Virtualbox?

Just follow the tutorial.
you must type "of=/dev/device_name" in command
with "device_name" is the device name alocated to the U8800. It can be "sdb", "sdc", "sdd", "sde", etc.

Hey sorry for resurrecting this thread. It's just that i previously tried everything including linux terminal but it just didn't do it and i brought it to its maintenance service for repairs. You can close this thread now, nothing to discuss here. But before that, could you give me some ROM suggestions to install to my newly working phone. I'd appreciate if you specify the reasons to use them too. You can send it via personal message. Thank you in advance.

Hi, Now I am using AuroraSP + , very fast, stable and smooth, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295318 very good for daily use.
MIUI V4 is good ROM too, I am going to test it this weekend and use it as my daily ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029969
If you like JB, you can try coldblue_´s CM 10.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2337235 , but the ROM isn´t perfect.

Hello again, did you have time to try out MIUI? What are your impressions?
I am finally in possession of my phone once again since the last time i received my phone back from its technical service, dumbass engineers nulled my IMEI after they fixed bricked ROM problem. After i got it back, i thought i could fix IMEI problem if i switch ROMs and installed AuroraSP+. It was decent but didn't really had time to fully explore it as i immidiately sent it back. And now they installed Android 2.3 firmware again, bah...

6055U Root method found

Hello all, I found a method to Root and get a custom recovery on our cricket variant, no donations required! You need to find a copy of sugar qct with a username and password, I don't remember exactly where I found it but it shouldn't be too difficult to find. Then you need to let it update to the latest build, which includes the programmer for our phone. If you don't see 6055u in the list it's not up to date. From there, Hook up your phone (may need to manually put it in download mode. Press upgrade and then navigate to the install directory, look in /bin and find where it downloads all the mbm files. Replace the one that starts with an r with the TWRP recovery for 6055. You may have to overwrite it multiple times during the process. If you did it correctly you will be able to boot into TWRP, if not try again. If you don't close sugar I believe it won't overwrite the firmware files, but I haven't messed with it much. I will try to write a tool to make it easier when I have the time but I'm pretty busy. Feel free to pm me with any questions and I will help the best I can.

Did a Google search for "sugar qct" and I see a couple of million hits for "The Sugar Act"...
Tried Root Genius, and it, of course doesn't work...
If you happen to find a link for the app or method you stated, I would be eternally grateful... My lovely wife and I upgraded our phones to the Cricket 6055U, and, since, while not an Android developer, per se, can find my way around the device without being scared off...
So, with due respect, I'd ask if you have the app or name correct?
Thanks, friend, and best respect.

Oops... was premature... found it and am giving it a try... I'll post my results after I give it a shot...

This should help with setting up sugar. The only difference here is to update it and you also need a username and password that I don't have on me at the moment. It will be a few hours until I get home but I will update asap.
Edit: nevermind lol, good luck friend. You may need a decent battery percentage as well

OK... apparently I'm an idiot... Running Windows 10 Pro, and the installer says it's going to install to an appropriate folder on C:\... yet, trying to find it, it really is weird.... I'm going to try on a VMWare Win 7 virtual PC, and see if I'm able to find it there, and move it to my actual C: drive...
If it works, I'll be grateful for your contribution and praise you to the highest heaven!

Can't seem to get the beast to work...
If you would be so kind, would there be any way you'd be able to write up a concise step-by-step thing, if you've made it work... I've got the .chm file open on my desktop, and have spent a few hours trying to make it work to no avail.
Again, if it worked for you, your process would be welcome.

My point is that the site recommended seems to insist on Lollipop on the small beast... and there doesn't seem to be a recommendation for the .bin files, and, when installing on Win 10, it seems to install the Sugar app into some directory on my C: drive that is really not that accessible... Did it using a VMWare Win 7 32-bit virtual, and was able to access the directory, copy and paste to my regular C: drive (old Windows geek since Win 3.11... and DOS 3), and it seemed to run... (of course, running as Administrator), but it really doesn't seem to work for me... Again, I freely admit that I'm likely not doing something right, but even after some research and the included .chm file, I seem to be missing something.
Again, and begging your indulgence for seeming like a noob or a rube, but if I'm not making it happen, I rather think that the tips would be lost on someone for whom this is their first Android device...
Kinda frustrating, as, even though I've been a tech-support guy and database developer for more than 30 years, this thing has me stymied...
I found it fascinating for the *#*# command, earlier, from another noble soul, and, obviously, I also found that the device as configured says, basically... "Don't give a damn... you can turn this sucker on, but as soon as you exit this menu, I'm gonna turn it off again."
Just a little frustrating, and it seems that most of the tips and tricks elsewhere seem to be thinking that new owners of the 6055U are running Lollipop.... aaarrrgggghhh....
If it needs Lollipop to work, and if there's a relatively painless way to downgrade, and then upgrade from a ROM, I'm good with that... the Idol 3 seemed to require that, and it worked well for me, with just an evening's work. This one? Cricket seems to have had a warped sense of humor about it... I seriously dig the device, and, since my Idol 3 broke, and my lovely wife's LG G-Stylo (which was a pain in the ass, and next-to-impossible to root, and then be just perpetually stuck at the logo screen with an unfixable boot loop, if one screwed it up, and just required sending the beast back to LG, as long as one took out Cricket's warranty plan... <sigh>), we took the plunge on this one...
Not much for which I require root, but, since I spent good money on some legit apps (and lucked into a few ... ahem... not legit apps that worked for me), these things require root... I know there's a way to do it, and the Sugar app seems promising, but, mildly autistic guy that I am (and 60 years old, with a memory that doesn't work as it used to), a slimmed-down step-by-step doc would be helpful... should some noble soul put such together...
Apparently, the root method has worked for at least one member here.... But this weird old Jewish hippie doesn't see the mental diagram....
Any help would be welcome, my friends and mishpocheh... ("dear family" --- been here enough years, albeit a relatively quiet member, that y'all might as well be family... )
Hey everyone, sorry about the confusion. I installed on Windows 10 pro with no issues. As far as the page I linked you can disregard everything but the app itself. The update that downloads is marshmallow, and I've had no issues overwriting the latest version. I may have gotten sugar from a different location though, as soon as I get a chance I will do a better write up with everything. A helpful way to find the install directory would be right click on the shortcut from the start menu and click find Target / open file location. If it brings you to the folder with the shortcuts do it again and you will have the install directory. The app should be in (install dir)/tool and the downloaded updates go in (install dir)/bin under a folder that only shows up once you start the process within sugar. I will try to compile the information into a more user friendly format tonight but I can't make any promises on that.
Also just to clarify, I didn't use any chm file
I'm wondering if you could upload your version you have on your pc. I just spent the last month in jail here in Orlando fighting a case and the only proof I've got is on my phone on a phone that I deleted my videos on. I really need the videos back too get a not guilty if I gotta pay for it it's cool but I'm out on bond and all the recover videos apps require root
I got this to work last night. Typed up some instructions but didn't get them posted. They're on my PC at home and I'm at work.
Basically use the copy of sugar in the download package in this thread and then start it and let it update https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-vodafone-prime-tab-7-t3548560
Those are the basic instructions too except we don't need to swap out bout and use the TWRP from deckersu thread.
Once flashed it'll automatically reboot. I found you had to make sure you caught this and booted into TWRP right away don't let the phone boot. Then transfer SuperSU in TWRP and flash.

FYI this root method wipes your phone so I don't know if this will help your situation or not.
In sugar there is an option to not wipe, it's under session settings or something to that effect

Wish I had noticed that!! Oh well, stoked to have root and it's good to start fresh. Got Xposed installed today and finally got that annoying charging light turned off. Working on getting wifi tetherng working. Then if I can figure out how to get the dialer to be friends with Google voice this phone will have all its annoyance fixed
Thanks so much for figuring this out and sharing!!

Thank you for finding this thread, it is the same one I found but I couldn't remember where it was the other day when I started this thread. Hopefully this will help the people who have been having issues, although I will admit a more painless method would be preferable. I'm currently working on modifying a dirtycow exploit to simply flash the recovery and reboot into twrp, if I get it to work I will zip it all up and post it here.

I got wifi tethering working I did a lot of things but I believe that did it was adding net.tethering.noprovisioning=true to my build.prop then I went into system/app and changed serviceentitlement.apk into serviceentitlement.oat using es file Explorer

Thanks for figuring this out!!! I'd been messing with it for a few days. The renaming the apk to .oat was the piece I was missing. That and a reboot got it working!!
