[Q] Samsung GSII Rom Question - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I'm using the HD2 Samsung GSII Rom and I can't get the applications button to where it should be (the right side) it just stays centered. Also I can't put any other apps in the 4 other spaces next to the applications button. Any Ideas?
Attached is a screen shot.

Have you pressed the 'applications' button to go into the app drawer? Once there press 'menu' bottom left hard key. Then 'edit'. You should be able to move the button and drag others onto the dock from there.

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you.

Is there a way to disable or uninstall the Chinese keyboard? I have no use for it.

Sorry, don't have a GSII but if it's the standard keyboard that ships with the rom then I don't think so.
Need to do a bit of searching my friend.

Change dock icons touchwiz?

Is there anyway to remove the doc icon messaging and replace it with another? I've looked and looked not sure if it can be done. Does anyone know I don't want a different launcher.

figured out gotta be in applications and press the preferences button on left of home button.

Remember to go MenuButton>Save after you're done, otherwise it throws away your changes.
Pressing the back button will save the change as well.

This was driving me crazy today. I wanted to move Phone icon to middle so it is easier to reach one-handed, and put Camera icon on dock.
I finally found a post in the Epic 4G forum that explains the process. Works the same for Gnote. This should really be in the Gnote User Manual!
Application>Menu>Edit - drag out what you don't want, drag in what you do want - then Menu>Save to seal the deal.

On have aplication button on home screen.

My phone only shows an application button at the button of he screen as of this morning. It use to display phone, message, email, and something else. Anybody know how to get these buttons back?

Go into your apps, hit the menu button, choose edit, find what other three apps you want and drag. Them into the bottom bar, hit menu and selete save.
And next time questions go in q&a.
Go into the app drawer, click menu, edit. Move whichever apps you want into the dock.

[Q] Multi-View side bar

Curious if it would be possible to relocate it to the right side of the screen?
Just with how I hold and type on my phone I find myself sometimes opening the Multi-View menu, and would never have that happen if it were on the right side of the screen.

+1
I was constantly click and holding it to move to very top or bottom depending what app I am using. ..
In the end, easier to just keep it hidden and just click and hold the back key if I need it....
That would be great. I was thinking the same thing too. So I just decided to edit my pull down notifications so I can see multiwindow icon showing. Now its a simple pull down and click off and when I need it i click on.

How do you hide it but still have it so you just have to hold the back button?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
You can move it to the right by dragging it to the other side of the screen. You. Also move the part that sticks out when it's closed by dragging it up or down the screen. Or you can hold the back button to close/hide it. To bring it back just hold the back button again.

You open multi window app selection
Then tap and hold the little tab and just move it
If you don't open app selection you can adjust the tab to your liking on the side it is already at

Stock Android = No Popup Menu?

Howdy,
This may be a dumb question but is there no contextual menu in stock Android? I know that many apps have the icon that is three vertical dots but on my Note 2 I can bring up a menu in any app by pressing the the menu nav button. I know that's a Samsung button, but is that entire pop up menu feature not in stock? I am sort of lost without it. For example, I can't find My Apps on the Play Store. On my Note 2 its listed in the pop up menu. On my Nexus 7.... I have no idea. I feel like I've looked everywhere. The three dot menu doesn't list it.
Thanks

OK I found my apps (tap little download icon) but still wondering in general. That pop up menu is really handy.

The three dots will come up in the bottom right corner when an older app still needs it. Overflow actions are being moved to the actionbar for devices without a hardware menu button. I recommend getting used to apps having the button on the action bar. It makes it much easier to know when there are available overflow options.

The problem with the menu button is that it was always there, whether it did anything or not. It was impossible to know if you could bring up a menu without trying it on each screen.
Exactly. That's why I am glad google is phasing it out.

Custom ROMs, you can make a permanent menu button. Mostly goes unused though.

OK, thanks guys. I will learn to live without it.

Um.. First off, on tablet sized devices the Play store has a dedicated Download/My Apps button at the top. Second, my Nexus 7 (OG) on 4.3 has the overflow button in the top-right corner.. Yours does not??

Xda app no menu button

Ok so i got my edge plus yesterday. Been using the regular s6 for a few months now and in the xda app there is a actual menu button with 3 dots that kinda hovers down at the bottom. Well on my plus it isnt there. Cant figure out how to being up the menu. If i hold back with a longpress it just starts backing out. Holding home brings up google now. And holding the task brings up multiwindow.
My problem is i cant bring up the menu to create a new thread. Thats why im posting this on my s6 rather than my edge.
Is it something simple im just overlooking?

I'm having the same issue! I've yet to figure out a workaround. I have a lot of threads I want to start!

Dis you guys try to uninstall and install again? Im using XDA premium 4 and everything is awesome here
Yeah I have the same issue. One thing you can do though (not a permanent solution) is to go to accessibility settings and then add that hovering extra button and in that way you can access the menu button.

Long press back button?

I wrote about this over in the Note 5 forum. Nonfiction except to use the XDA premium app, which I think is inferior.
Actually the sad thing is that there's so little one can do to the locked device that I stuck to the free version and it doesnt matter as I hardly have a need to create new forums like the old days (where are you now, HD2???).

Here is the temp fix guys the problem is a lot of apps detect if there is a hardware menu button and omit showing the soft 3 dot button common in a lot of apps. The S5 has no dedicated menu button but it does have the long press home button option to launch the More options/Menu button, however out Galaxy S6 models do not have this option. BUT some apps still detect it and delete their in app button.
Here is the fix I figured out that works in this situation and it would be good to pass this on or write up a document.
Go to phone settings => Accessibility => Dexterity and interaction => Assistant Menu.
At the top right slide the off button to on to enable the Assistant menu icon on all screens. Then click on the Edit option. In the edit menu deselect all the buttons you do not need by hitting the red negative on the icons (-) in the upper part of the screen. (note it has two buttons that you cannot remove Home Screen, and Menu Settings) on the bottom half of the page hit the green plus sign (+) on the More Options button (It has 3 dots).
Now on all screens is a little round button with 4 dots on it, it appears on all screens in all programs and is floating. There is the More options button now which is the software menu button we are missing =). You can just go back and disable Assistant menu afterward or like me leave this handy button on because I have multiple programs that do this.
Hope this helps guys Cheers!
Long pressing back key brings up menu in most of the Apps

Yeah I tried that it did not work in the app that I run that I could not get to the menu with, I will try another program and see if I can get that to work. I also tried many of the other options I could find through the searches. See the reply above mine in this thread.
