Freezing apps - Transformer TF300T General

What bloat apps are you all freezing? I see a few I could stand to be rid of... do we have an idea which ones would be safe from the older transformers?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app

Ive rooted my TF300 and used Root Explorer to move the following out of the /system/app directory...
Asus Reader.apk
Books.apk
Kindle-OEM.apk
MyZine.apk
PixWe.apk
PlusOne.apk
PRAndroid.apk
Vibe_CN.apk
ZinoReader.apk
Have had zero FC or system issues since.
Going to dig a little deeper today and see what other useless apps I can remove.
As a tip, never delete the apk. Just move it to a "bloat" folder on your SD card. This will disable the app but allow you to restore it if you move something you shouldnt.

What about freezing/removing the stock launcher? Anyone else notice the warning after downloading an app that says the screen is full? My apex screen is barren, i tjink stock is harshing on my vibe.

Ya I noticed that warning and noticed it on my phones running ICS too. It still puts a shortcut there tho so I don't know what to make of it.

In Google Playstore settings, uncheck the box that says auto-add widgets for new apps.

I froze the stock launcher after I made my third party launcher the default one.

I tried to freeze maps but after I did, I kept getting a force close/error that maps wasn't working. Another app must be calling on maps or something, anyone know how to get rid of it without this problem?

No need to freeze or uninstall maps.
Yes it may be running, but unless you are signed into latitude (possibly with or without you knowing you are)...its only using memory allocation and will have little or no effect on the battery.
You are in for never ending FC if you keep it froze or uninstalled.

[Q] XDA App FC

Anyone else having constant force closes with the free XDA App. Not sure if its a HC issue, app issue or Acer issue. Hope its fixed soon its much easier to use than the full site.
I have had this issue with a few apps. Seems most are not quite honeycomb compatible yet.

XDA Pro crashes a lot on my A500 as well.
Works fine here, initially opens in portrait but then switches to landscape.
seems like it FC's only when i sign in, ive started using tapatalk, it works ok for xda-developers forums but its still dodgy, wont let me upload attachments etc

I'm in this state as well; I'm on a Nook Color running CM7, and the XDA app FCs if I look at any article after logging in. If I don't log in, I can view articles all I want.
The FC log entry shows that it's in xda-specific code, not in tapatalk itself.
The xda app seems to crash on a lot of tablet based devices... it did on my Archos and gtab.
Got fed up and paid for tapatalk pro and it works perfectly.

I went and bought the XDA premium app and have not had one FC on my tab nor my D1. Well worth the $1. The free app would not work at all with the favorites section on the tab.

Its not a tab issue, its a HC issue. For whatever reason, the free app isn't compatable with HC, but the paid app seems to be.

Across four different android devices, the XDA app has never, ever been stable enough for me to use for longer than 2 minutes.

No, it's an Android problem. It has the same issue on 2.2 with the Viewsonic GTab and on my Samsung Galaxy S with 2.1. It's been known about for months, but XDA doesn't seem inclined to fix the free app. Go figure.
I only have FCs when I sign in. If I don't sign in no issues at all.
Usually FCs on me when I try to view a thread.
If they have known about this problem and done nothing about it it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in paying for the app.
In addition... This is a developers site and they cannot develop a stable app? That doesn't reflect well either.
I agree. I had this FC issue with my elocity A7, besides my A500. I purchased the premium and have not had this problem. I can even send reply, could not do that before with the free apk.

asus tf section on the xda app

For some reason I can't find the transformer section on the app forum list anywhere... tryed searching, sorting alphabetically and nothing.
Now I'm making a thread then gonna look in my participated posts and hopfully it'll show up.
So the post shows up in my app but how the hell do I get to the eee section... it isn't there when listed alphabetically.

Ok so I thought of something. I logged out and logged back in.
Seems to be I've been logged in for so long (honestly... months) that the board layout didn't update. So if anyone else runs into this or hears of this, tell the person to re-login.
End thread!

Want face unlock?!!

Use visidon applock
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
Ive been using it on my 300 for a couple days now.
Its a good app. Has some quirks but the best facial recognition I have seen so far.
Only drawback is that its only for application unlock.

I just bought this phone.

Couldn't resist myself seeing as I am now far too pissed with the crappy radio chip in the Gnex. Cost me 580 euros on my vacation here in Finland.

Best phone ever. Enjoy!
Enjoy man. I also had a GNexus previously, and I found that the hardware on SGS3 is so much better. Camera, storage, processor, everything is much better. You just have to learn how to deal with Samsung bloatware and be happy
right choice
I can live with TW for now.

Please note he said deactivate, not remove. You can still freeze a lot of the bloat without rooting. Go into system settings - application manager - all. Select the bloat in question then select disable. The bloat will no longer be able to run and won't appear in the app drawer.

But a lot of the bloatware can be removed with root only. The easiest way imo is to root and use titanium backup to freeze them.

I wandered over here to see if anyone else got this update, or knew what it was supposed to address. I didn't even see anything on the ASUS site. I did bite the bullet, but then again I'm not rooted or anything. I'm good with stock.
I was just comparing my system details to the OP and the kernel version and system build numbers are different. Just curious is your tablet rooted.
So far so good. Market is still very slow on installing apps. Haven't noticed much of a difference from previous version, but still testing.

It runs faster for me but it still has random reboots (newly purchased, too).
I must be lucky, I have never had a random reboot on this device since I purchased it in May.

I'm going to say it fixes issues related to the keyboard?
Only thing i noticed after updating is the Batman Dark Knight Rises game finally plays smooth.. Still has a bit of lag but generally smooth.

I wish I had root for it but that has to wait for end-of-warranty unlocking or a new method to root JB. I'd clear the dalvik-cache & repair permissions if I had the chance but that has to wait. *sigh*
I had plenty reboots on mine, but then I noticed that it had something to do with the power button. I sent it to warranty to change the power button and I never had a reboot since that. I did this update too and I can't notice any diference.
Updated this morning from WW_epad-10.4.2.13-20120907 to WW_epad-10.4.2.17-20121018 and Voodoo rootkeeper restored root without any problem.

Mmm... spoke to soon.
1/ On boot I get 'starting apps' and 'Android is upgrading' messages everyboot (just for a second each)
2/ BSplayer will no longer work (would not start at all) or re-install. Trying to re-install gives an 'insufficient storage space' error - not true planty of space available (17GB+).
