[Q] DEFY+ BT9.1 can root ? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Somebody know ?
Thanks.

I'm sorry, but... What's BT9.1?

I'm going to take a wild guess here, but I think he's talking about the bootloader version (probably a confusion between the SBF and it).

Thanks v1n337,
I will give it a try, it sounds promising. Just have to prepare myself by reading about flashing.

Some people say you don't even need to wipe (steps 1 and 3) when using this method.

noob rooting questions

hey,
I got HTC mytouch 4g a week ago. and I am familiar with some of the terms and whats going on.
Firstly, this is my software information on my phone currently:
Android version: 2.2.1
baseband version: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
kernal version: 2.6.32.21-g899d047
[email protected] #1
tues oct 26
build number: 1.17.531.2 CL277036
software number: 1.17.531.2
I have read that there is some OTA update that is applied to htc mytouch 4g and that I need do something about that prior to rooting. Am I suppose to do that then? and is the version of visionary 11 good and "safe" rather than latest versions?
Is there anything else I should read and learn before I tackle rooting? If so, can you please provide the link or let me know what to search exactly. I have checked out the wiki, but I don't really know what I am exactly looking for or should be looking for :S.
thanks!

Waiting your answers ASAP
1. Yes its unbranded.
2. You can update officially by downloading an ruu but don't. Best to get radio s-off.
3. Search the development section. You want to perm root and s-off.
4. Leedroid arabic edition.

Someone Swyped my idea.
Thanks for your reply
Good news that my phone became officially unbranded
Well, in another forum (Arabic one) they just adviced me to download the official new rom 1.8xxxx on my pc (they provided me with the links)
then to connect my phne to my pc and then start the installing through my pc
No S-Off needed... No Rooting needed
and guess what... it's working like charm now
Thanks everybody
Yep, but someone could find the complete lack of root a downside

Motorola Defy Unlocked

I bought an unlocked unbranded Motorola defy from new egg .com and the issue here is What sbf file do i need to go back to the stock firmware it had, as i can only find t-mobile and others. I am in the US. Help! I will be returning the phone soon because of the connectivity issues.
have you had a look at this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
there are plenty of roms.
If you don't find unbranded US roms, what about trying non US ones -> like UK rom?
Unlocked as in operator unlocked ?
or Bootloader unlocked ? ( or just Rooted ? )
if only operator unlocked you should specify your full phone stats to get valid advice on SBF.
Flashing the wrong SBF could cause you much trouble if you loose downgradeability.
Post your stats according to this format and ppl will be able to help you better:
(you find this info in: Settings -> about phone)

Please help, when I try to turn on the wifi, it just automatically turns itself off instantly. I currently don't have it connected to service as I just bought it off ebay. I want to see if there is a way to fix it before contacting the seller and asking for a refund. My phone details:
Model Number: SGH-M919
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: M919UVUFNB4
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-540242
Build Number: KOT49H.M919UVUFNB4
