Gaming rom - Xperia Play General

What is the best rom/firmware for gaming ?
In the ICS roms its reboot a loot.
Sent from my R800i

Stock gingerbread with DooMKerneL. Remove bloatware apps and stop excess services. Can't get a better gaming experience than that (though some say V6 supercharger helps)

Can someone give me the links ?
What gingerbread ?
Sent from my R800i

Stock is defintely what you want for gaming alright. I'd go with a stock based ROM so that most of the bloat is removed for you and not weighing down your device.
Something like JokaWild.
EDIT: by the sounds of it, you are going to have to do some research. Start by looking into flashtool.
Just noticed my above comment may have sounded condescending. It wasn't meant to be. Since you have flashed ICS successfully, I imagine you know how to flash a stock ROM.

From my experience Jokawild was the best gingerbread rom for gaming

What about for a R800x?

I have tried several different ROMS and not that these other ROMs are not awesome in their own right. But I always come back to my nandroid of stock Android 2.3.3
I rooted, then deleted all bloat in the system folder, and all the other apps that can be reinstalled to SDcard, map, talk, gmail, etc. I have around 180mb of free space according to my system/apps folder. I then used V6 Supercharger and set everything to aggressive with Nitro Lag. Now my phone is super speedy. I have no lag anywhere, all games play buttery smooth including GL games. I also am using DoomKernel by DoomLord and No Frills set to Performance, CFQ at 1.2ghz (dont like to OC too much just a tiny little bump)
And I also have a Sandisk Mobile Ultra 32GB HC-I MicroSD card. Was using a class 4 sandisk proir an this card was on sale on a camera site for $30, figured why not and got it, saw a difference with GL games as well, before they were smooth with an occasional slight stutter but now its all good.
Just found it, its $3 more then what I paid but still a great price and this card is awesome.

So, I'm using an ICS rom with the new Adreno drivers, and I get better performance on Fifa 12 then I got with Gingerbread. Is there a way to install the new Adreno drivers on Gingerbread?

I have tried most to all the roms as well and I will say I got the best gaming performance with the stock 2.3.3 rom (bloatware free) with doom's kernel. This had not only the best performance but also worked with most to all games.
I would of put 2.3.4 but gmail and google voice still wont auto sync. Once verizon decides to wake up then jump to 2.3.4. Hope this helps.
You will need to use flash tool (thread) to do all your kernel and FTF flashing.
Flash this: 2.3.3 FTF
Flash this: DoomKernel + Wifi modules (thread)
Boot up like normal and go through the setup. After that install titanium backup and start ripping out all that Verizon junk.
Install SetCPU and find your overclock sweet spot. Dont forget to set a profile to underclock you phone for when your batteries low. (I found that smartassV2 scaling gave me the best performance/battery life with a 1.6 Ghz overclock.)
This is for a r800x (Verizon)

That's pretty much what I did. I have the stock overclocked kernel, which isn't overclocked, but SetCPU is set to overclock to 1.6Ghz when any of my games are running.

Thread Closed, Thank You.

Overclock Xperia Play

I have Xperia Play with CM7 and it runs great but because of some issues (mainly no vibration whatsoever and no touchpads in most games) I decided to return to one of the stock FW of the device.
The thing is that with CM7 my Play was working at 1500mhz and had always more than 200mb of ram something that I don't want to lose.
Can anyone tell me how to overclock my cpu to reach such speeds? I have a rooted device and the bootloader unlocked. The ram is no issue I plan to remove most stock apps with titanium backup.
Put DooMKernel on from Play development thread
Overclock to 2000mhz :O
And init.d support

GTA III

So, the game is out for high-end devices (only?). On our U8800 in B518 rom for me it kind of lags (~15-19 fps). Have you guys done some tweaks to make it run better?
I haven't managed to get it running.

i dont think its for high end devices only cause i see people running it fine on xperia neo at 1ghz single core 205 adreno. i will try it and i will come back with report. If it lags it will be due to 2.3.5 beta bugs
OC to 1500 MHz, delete "audio" file from SD data and game will be much more playable.

That should work, but i saw somewhere a files for armv6, so maybe if we use them, we get even more performance.
OC on 1.5Ghz on CM7 totally works quite good, even without any other tweaks. (franco kernel)
Tried in latest miui by ret4rt. Got files and etc, but when i start game, it lags on loading. Then phone tells that gta3 has stopped working. I'll try in cm when i have time.
It installs, but yeah, latest MIUI from ret4rt was lagging with it.
Got it running by redownloading data. Had low fps even with 1,5ghz. I'll try without sounds later, and maybe search some ways to improve fps.

I got it working on a stock U8800pro with stock 2.2 Froyo..the game runs pretty much smoothly, it lags only when the maps are being loaded..but its completely playable
My phone hangs and reboots after some minute playing.. 2.3 beta 2. I should try stock kernel, my backup boot.img anyone know where to get?

i got my u8800 oc'ed at 1800mhz and deleted audio files, its pretty playable, it only lags sometimes but not much
i noticed the full game (500mb) was stored in my sd card, is there any chance on making it run on internal storage and will that make the game run smoother? if so, tell me how please ^^
I'm running it smoothly on my stock x5 There is only rare minimal lag.
If it lags on your phones, u can reduce effects in the game files...

The new 2.3 stock then?
Do you mean use the linked data packs?
My phone hangs and reboots after a couple of minutes of gameplay (gaming or watching the videos) I cant even get to the first save point.
Tried with 2.3 beta 2 and CM7.1-geno.

How To Get Play as fast as possible

i have an xperia play 16GB sd card running dixperia2 doomkernel v14 launcherpro with ram manager pro at 1.6GHz can anyone tell me the best combination they have had
Best + Stable

32Gb class10 sd card with DiXperia2 + removed some systemapps that i dont need (torch,calculator....)+ sick speed tweak+ auto memory manager
+lupus v.5(smartass v2 sio 1500mHz for daily use and for gaming 1700mHz performance sio) = my PLAY is a beast and really no game is laging, i get about 250mb of free ram for gaming.
Sick speed tweak?? Mind sharing??

I would really like to know what it is.
Well...im not a expert but i also have tried dixperia 2.
But now im with Nxt Light edition 1.3
I only use advanced task killer before playing something hard like FPSE with opengl.
i have 250mb free ram.
Stable overclocked with 1.8ghz but sometimes there will be some crashes like when speeding or lowering clocks, or sometimes FPSE will crash after overclock and you will have just to open it again without issues.
I have a low class SDCard so i havent tried any Swapper.
I dont use ram manager or anything of those silly things but i readed NXT light edition comes with v6 supercharger.
I did some benchmarks ago with 1.7ghz i had better 3D Score but with 1.8ghz i had better CPU score.
Just extract and place in init.d
Source?? I'd like to read more bout it before using it. Thanks.

Right on. The 06sysctl seems like it uses to re-calculate every system ram allocation & refresh them on every use. Nice!!! Snappy snappy snappy. As for the sicktweak its kinda pretty much the same as v6 only less. So to me, the 06sysctl is enough to satisfy ur need. Thanks again.

Hard to go wrong with init.d files. You can set them to 777, which means ALL access is allowed. Though, technically they should be 755, which is read write exec for owner, read exec for group and read exec for global (or others)
The best way to have a blazing fast xplay is to have debloated stock rom + swapper + ram manager pro + 1.4ghz smartassv2/sio + advanced task killer :good:
I got tired of custom roms and all that stuff, i just installed stock rom and deleted all type of bloatware apps and added a couple of things to make it nicer like walkman player, bravia engine, notification toggles, new boot animation, new xperia launcher and camera app from NXT.
I so love it:laugh:

It's mostly one or the other, unless you get a bigger battery. Optimization can only go so far

The thread didn't say, so maybe you might know. Custom ROM/kernel only I assume? I'm on stock, so I don't want to flash this without knowing for sure. Or is one of the two files in the zip possible to use on stock?
Stock does not support init.d. So if u want'em tweak either enable init.d urself or flash any custom rom or kernel that supports init.d script.

What ROM you running??

Though I would create a thread to see which of the many great JB ROMS people are running and maybe we can crown a champion??
I'm using CleanROM and could not be happier.
Im running "BrickedMy****2.0" its the smoothest out and the battery life is just awesome.

What does it mean?
Could you explain the difference/meaning of each, please?
He means his Pad is in heaven or hell Just bricked.
I am running JB OC edition with last Untermensch Kernel.
I am on stock , but looking to for a rom , but none has me intrested at the moment.
I am not looking for new features on roms , i just want a smooth and stable rom , and everything else to be stock.
A bit like android revolution HD for Galaxy nexus.
Anyone know anything similar? Because on stock , launcher usually really slow , and performance wise for quad core it's just not there.
I'm running CM 10 M2.It runs smooth ‚but the camera records15fps videos.I hope they will fix it.CM did good job with this JB Rom

I've upgraded from stock JB to CleanRom 2.5. its night and day
I'm on CleanRom 2.5 also. Haven't tried much else though. I tried OC for a day, but wasn't able to get overclocked so I reverted back to CleanRom after a few failed attempts. I'm hoping we'll have an updated version of CleanRom soon (version 2.3 from the 700t forums)
Clean rom 2.5 its my first rom ever! on a android device (tf300 is my first android device) + untermensch kernel combined with and when i installed the clean rom i always can oc so u guys do something wrong. And i run the v6 script.
I am on CleanROM too, tried a few others but there were a few things I didn't like or had problems with.
Got no problem and can OC with CleanROM

hehe just came to the thread, nice timing.
No lag what so ever anywhere on this tablet now. I have made it lag by copying a movie, playing music and trying to browse the web. Pages lag a little bit but once they load its smooth and we all know that its the cheap internal card. I think its well worth it, i was using my brother TF300 that is stock and could not handle how slow it was.

looks like i will be wiping my tablet and flashing it after all!
just remember to flash Unt kernel, latest is NOT in OP but one of the last pages.
I just installed JB overlock edition and it got better scores than CleanRom with unt's kernel :S for me.
Quadrant scores:
JB oc edition V2 (overclocked to 1.66ghz): total:6087 CPU: 15120 Mem: 3188 I/O: 9233 2D: 273 3D: 2622
CleanRom with unt's kernel (overclocked to 1.6 ghz): total:5735 CPU: 14144 Mem: 3890 I/O: 7592 2D: 309 3D: 2739
Hope I helped someone that can't decide what Rom he want's to install.
Why are there so many votes for the stock ROM? Is it that good? Seems like it's pretty easy to unlock the tablet and then load a custom ROM on. Any input would be appreciated.
boggles the mind don't it? I guess people are happy with Stock until they can use CM/AOKP
Very strange. Just loaded CleanROM. It's always tough to say what ROM to go with. CleanROM is nice, but I have to install the others to compare, I suppose. I wish there was a good pro/cons list of each ROM.

Some questions about ktmanta and other stuffszz

Zup everybody.
Im a new android user and im loving it. With Nexus 10 to be my first android device im very happy with it after i installed ktmanta Kernel.
although i had very litte knowlidge about what roms and kernel is/was i went for it anyways. It improved my experience alot, and everything is running real nice. Also gta vice city doesent lag at all. it lagged like hell before the kernal install.
Now i have few questions and i hope someone out there could help me with. ive seen a few threads on this forum and everyone seems to be nice unlike other forums (no names mentioned)
When i flashed (i think its called that way) the ktmanta kernel i knew that everything would dissapear, but im wondering now if there is a way to backup exact everything before loading a new rom or kernel?
also. when i play gta vice city i use min/max 1500/1500 on the cpu and it works really nice. the only problem is that i have to manually change it and after i have played the game i have to go back and change it to 200/1700 again.
can i somehow make an ikon that i push and the cpu go to 1500/1500 and if i push another icon it will go on the other setting? something like that?
Ive seen folks wright on forums that there is an app that can make your battery life better but never mention such app.
i have batterycalibr, is that the only one?
And the last question is, is there something you could recommend to a new android user (apps, widgets, specific roms, etc) ?
Im loving the android experience and im considering to sell my iphone 5 and buy a droid phone.
(please i apologize if my grammar or spelling isn't at the top)

1. Try using titanium backup to backup your app data and you can restore it once you flash a new ROM/kernel. Remember, only backup app data, NOT system data or you may result in bootloops.
2. Not 100% sure if you could use the KTweaker app or SetCPU to set profiles when you're gaming but you might want to look into that. That being said, you shouldn't have to set your min at 1500 to have fluid gameplay, or at least I don't think so and it will drain your battery much faster. IMO, check out the franco kernel if you want to have the smoothest gameplay with no tweaking necessary and no drops in framerate.
3. I really don't believe in all of that battery calibrator, juice defender, or any other app that claims to significantly increase battery life. However, if you are going to use the KTManta kernel, you can undervolt your device and get some pretty awesome battery life.
4. What kind of apps, widgets, etc. are you looking for? Find out what your style is and customize accordingly. That's the awesome thing about Android!
Hope this helped... :good:
