Wifi won't recognize network - Kindle Fire General

Whenever I try flashing Hashcode's new ICS ROM with updated 3.0 kernal, it will not recognize my wifi network. I have no problems with CM7 Barebones. It will work fine with the 02-24-12 ICS ROM (without 3.0 kernal). Any ideas on why this is happening? Any way to get it to work?

You might have better luck asking this question in Hashcodes official discussion thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591869. However, do a search first since there have been much talk of issues with wifi.

I think your wireless network work in Adhoc mode. See my topic about adhoc in ICS 3.0 with wpa_supplicant 0.8.*.

I had a network problem when using the new 3.0 kernel that was caused because the MAC address on the KF was changed after installing the rom with 3.0 kernel and I use MAC filtering on my router. Once I noticed that and added the new MAC to the router everything was fine. I'm sure I'm not the only one using MAC filtering so hope this helps someone having issues.

If it's finding the AP, it sounds more like a router problem.
Do you use MAC address filtering? If so, you'll need to add the new MAC address given by android. (Settings->About Phone->Hardware Information). Should usually begin 00:90:4C:xx:xx:xx
I had a similar problem when running it from SD via magldr, it seemed to do it every time I did a clean boot.
I solved my issue by removing the profile, turning off wifi and then turning back on and letting it find AP again and re-entering key, it then connects fine and this has worked multiple times and after doing it never had problem again until clean install.
Not sure if that will solve your issue but worth a try.
That worked thank you

[Q] vega & barnacle wifi tether

hello,
I have x10i (froyo cm 6.1.3 by wolfbreak - no native tethering due to closed bootloader) and advent vega.
the only solution for wifi tether I know of, is barnacle wifi tether.
the problem is, that my advent vega (cm7 with corvus kernel) is not able to connect to hotspot made by barnacle wifi tether on my x10.
it sees the network, but than no connection is made.
-
I would be happy, if somebody could help.
thank you.
I have been trying the cm7 hc rom courtesy of mad murdock. I ran barnacle on my htc magic qnd was able to connect my vega and download data that way. Hope thos helps.
its beacuse barnacel sets up and ad hoc network. you need a patch that you flash to make it work. i found it over at modoco somewhere
Thank you both, now I'm using corvus 0. 5 rom witch supports wifi hot spots...

WiFi MAC address missing with Tytung's latest kernels

Like the title says ever since the changes in Tytung's kernels between KERNEL 2.4 and KERNEL 2.5 my phone does not have a MAC address and therefore can not start the WiFi.
What I have tried...
BOTH wifi fixes, one at a time and both at once
Fix permissions
Clear caches
Clean install
Task 29
Reinstall Magldr
Reinstall cwm 5.0.2.5 and 5.0.2.6
Revert to Windows 6.5 COMPLETELY!
Reinstall HSPL
Reinstall Magldr
Reinstall cwm 5.0.2.6
Fresh install of newest ROM version
And still the only thing that works is flashing the 2.4 kernel. I would really like to get the advantage of having the most updated kernel as I am sure it has many updates but I am stuck.
Please help!

where did you find 2.5?
Phone have wifi mac address. If it doesnt connect see the possible fix that tytung gives in his thread for this issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
The SIM card related WiFi issue:
If you suffer from this WiFi issue, you can flash BCM4329_firmware_v4.218.248.18.zip or install WiFix.apk.
did you try to see if wifi connects without sim card?
That is the problem, My phone does not have a MAC address!
Forgot to mention, I have also tried all of the fixes in the thread for the wifi. Those fixes are for people that can't connect, my problem is that I can not even turn on my wifi because it is looking for a MAC address and can't find one.
Oh and when I said going from 2.4 to 2.5 I meant going from kernel 2.4 to kernel 2.5 not rom 2.4 to rom 2.5!

I am having the same problem as you.
I'm unable to connect to WiFi from the get-go on most ROMs (PA, Tytung's ICS & JB, CM9) and any attempts to turn Wi-Fi on are met with the litttle switch being greyed out and seeing an eternal "Turning Wi-Fi on.." message. WiFi works fine in WM6 and on the old-old Cotulla "Stock Desire" ROM.
Tried the BCM ZIP and WiFix.
I ended up generating a random MAC (google 'generate MAC address') and hard-set the MAC, following this guide and it worked. Hopefully it helps you out too, even though it's not a real fix.

Wieless Tether on CM9 and CM10

Hi everybody, this is my first post here and I hope not doing anything wrong.
I am using the Official MIUI (the latest one) in my Defy by months. I use tethering every day at least 3 hours, but I only use the Wireless Tether app, because I don't like the System Tethering. The app is very stable for me, I don't have any disconnections or something.
Well, I see that all CM9 and CM10 releases say that the Tethering isn't working. But some users say that the Wireless Tether app is working fine.
So my question is: The Wireless Tether app is working on CM9 and CM10 (both Quarx builds)? If yes, it's stable for me to use 3 hours daily?
Thanks in advance guys.
in CM9 the default app doesn't work, I use the wifi for root but it only workes for me when its open and no secured without AC.

By "wifi for root" do you mean this app? play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=android.tether (copy and paste the link)
This is the app that I am using right now. If yes, it works stable without security for you? What release of CM9 are you using? Does anyone have success using this app with security on CM9?
Thanks again.
So, I've tried the WIUI v4 2.7.7 HWA (very nice rom by the way). The Wireless Tether app is working fine with password enabled, running about 10 minutes with no problems at all. I hadn't the chance of testing it more than 10 minutes, but I'll post more results later.
Since it's based on Epsylon3 and Quarx CM9 builds, I think the Wireless Tether wouldn't be a problem in these roms too. If someone knows, please post your results.
Thanks everybody.

wifi tether on any rom?

hello mates.
I know there are already some threads about tethering (i know, i used "search" before creating new thread)
My problem is this:
i flashed a lot of roms found in the developers section. miui, cm7 and oxygen, actually i think i have tested them all, doing the 3 wipes EVERY TIME...(god bless titanium backup)
I never got wifi tethering to work properly not with native feature nor with any app on the market.
with pc 1/5 could make the tethering
with ics tablet and SE x10mini i got endless connect-reconnect making internet unusable and sometimes i could not even find u8800 in the list of available networks.
I tried sharing 3g with SE neo v and everything went ok perfectly stable connection.
So my question is: has anyone, in ANY rom, got the wifi-tethering to work properly?
Thanx
Im using aurora and barnacle wifi tether. So far no problem.
Can you check your wifi mac please, it may be nulled.

Mac is ok, never updated to .35 kernel. I am sure that it is somehow prolly drivers problem on 8800 because if I share from other phones to my tablet connection is fast and stable
Could it been .32 problem?
