Wife's Droid 2 Took Latest Verizon OTA, Some Questions - Droid 2 General

While I was working yesterday the OTA from Verizon was released and my wife's phone was updated before i could stop it and she has lost root.
We both have the Droid 2, both rooted the same way, and both at the same level before today. Pretty much identical phones and system except for the obvious differences. I do have a good backup of my root on my phone using Root Keeper.
I'm wondering if I could copy the root backup files from my phone to hers and then try to restore the root on her phone with Root Keeper using my backup.
If doing the above described restore is a possibility I would need to know what files I need to copy from my phone to hers (file names, location(s), anything else I should know) to give this an attempt.
I've found the location of the Root Keeper program files but it's not clear to me where the root backup files are.
All help is greatly appreciated.

[Q] Root or Soft Root for HTC Legend

Hello all.
I want to root my HTC Legend (Yes, I know there are 1000 post about this on the forum, but please, keep reading because I couldn't find a solution for what I exactly want...)
I have a HTC Legend with the original ROM that Vodafone installs in it. I'm running Froyo 2.2 and my kernel version is 2.6.32.17-g732a780. The Boot-loader version I'm using is HBOOT-1.00.0000.
As I stated before, I want to either root or soft root my phone. For some reason that I still can't understand, it looks like The Legend is more difficult to root than other HTC models... The point of rooting my phone is to be able to make a full backup using Titanium Backup Tool BEFORE making any changes to my existing room (Yes, I want to change the ROM). I've been reading a lot of post where in order to change the ROM I have to first downgrade the phone to Android 1.3 to be able to root it but, What about if I want to make a full backup BEFORE the downgrade? Is there a way to create a full backup with no root permissions? Titanium Backup only works if the phone is rooted...
If I can create a full backup of my phone the way it is right now, I don't mind to downgrade in order to root it and flash it... but I don't want to experiment not having a full backup stored in a safe place...
So far, I've tried Universal Androot 1.6.2 beta 5 with no luck on both: root and soft root. I get the error message: "Failed! No Fu Goo"
I'd really appreciate any help on this matter either by solving the problem or by offering a different approach for what I want.
Thanks in advance to all of you for your time and attention.
What you need is a tool called rvisionary from modaco. With this tool you can achive temp root aka soft root. And then back up with titanium backup. Everything you need to know and the tools requiered can be found here. You have to follow instructions for Already OTA updated with HBOOT 1.01, if you want to root it.
Thanks a lot for your input qzem!
I'll try what you are telling me there and let you know how it went.
No problem . I hope you'll succeed!
Thank for useful answer

[Q] Allow my vzw Droid2 to kleep root?

The newest OTA system update alert (4.5.621.en.US) just popped onto my VZW Droid2 today (current: 4.5.601.A955)--will rootkeeper allow me to keep root after this update?
I've read that RootKeeper does allow you to save root and is currently the only way to keep root with the new update.

RootKeeper Question and Help Needed
While I was working the OTA from Verizon was released and my wifes phone was updated and she has lost root. We both have the Droid 2, both rooted the same way and both at the same level before today. I do have a good backup of my root on my phone.
I'm curious where and what files I need to copy from my phone to my wifes phone to see if I can restore root from my backup.
Edit to add: the backup was done with Root Keeper.
All help is greatly appreciated.

While you're waiting for a reply, were you able to update your phone and keep your root with rootkeeper?
I'm not going to update my phone just yet. Once I know the location of the files and what files I need to copy over, I'll try fixing the other Droid 2 and see where that goes. I'm in no hurry to update just yet.

so I updated using the root keeper app, and I don't really recommend it. For some weird reason only certain apps retained their root privileges, actually the only one I can see that has is titanium backup. Also u can't install new apps that need root. It really blows in all honesty. I really hope someone figures this one out, not having root, or the option to put on another rom is such a pain in the ass.
motorola one click root will reroot OTA tho DO NOT DOWNGRADE EVER or you will softbrick your phone

I have tried, I think they patched the exploit used by motorola one click. If I'm wrong I would appreciate a link to what works.

[Q] Has anyone succeded to update to ICS witjout loosing Root & CMW ?

Hello
I've read from 2 persons that they have lost root & CWM by applying ICS update.
Just want to know if it's possible to keep root & CWM by modifying ICS update script (or ICS is totally different from HC and current root/CWM are not compatible anymore)
Thanks
I could keep root by using voodoo root keeper. CWM is gone after the update. Reinstalling is possible but it will not boot. In the thinkpadtabletforum someone believes it is coming from changes in the bootloader.
I managed to keep root but not CWR. I havent tried reinstalling it yet as I had heard that the new bootloader wont load it.
I got root on V89 used rootkeeper to backup and then temp unroot and did the install. Then just used rootkeeper to reinstate it. Works fine for me.
To all - there is a post on thinkpadtabletforum that explains how some will be fine and some won't. Please heed instructions and info before upgrading.

ok, thanks for your replies !
So root don't seems to be a problem, but CWM is no more compatible.
Good to know !

No service after flashing root

I'm hoping someone can help me, I have a Rogers Galaxy S3 in Canada, and tonight I flashed root for my phone which worked fine and I have superuser installed now without issues. however now I get no cell reception at all and after some googling it seems it's related to the IMEI number which shows up in my "about phone" as just a 0.
Help please!!
Which root file did you use? There are 2 different ones in dev forum ? Did you do a backup before root. Sound like the root corrupted the efs file where your IME is stored, I believe. I used the root method for the sprint phone, files are by Team Epic, here is a file to unroot your phone, see if it fixes your problem, Here is the recovery that i used, and the root file. Forgot I have the Telys galaxy s 3. If you have any questions just pm, http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?u8ressh9n163atd, http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?tk5t53i3nzcypnd, http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?sya1cp72zhpzwe1
flash your Nandroid backup that you made when rooting.

What are my options with my rooted Note 3

I have rooted and rom'ed my Thunderbolt, then my Note2 and very comfortable with formatting, installing roms and zips. I just bought a rooted Note 3 on swappa and I am wondering what my options are.
The seller installed something I am not familliar with called "Safestrap">
This is the last message he sent me after he mailed the phone to me:
"I have wiped it clean and installed a fresh copy of 4.4.2 with root and safestrap. I went ahead and renamed the 2 files in the file system that are known to force a system software update by renaming the files to .bak, so you shouldn't have to worry about the phone trying to update itself. I have included all the files you would need to re-install a clean copy of 4.4.2 unrooted, plus root and safestrap on a 4gb sd card at no extra charge. Please refer to XDA forums should you need steps on how to do this, and take note newer versions of android may not be rootable on this phone. Thanks!"
I am a bit confused with this phone on what I can and shouldn't do with it, as I don't want to lose root.
I am enclosing a Screenshot of the about page.
I would appreciate any advice, thank you
Safestrap is a TWRP like custom recovery. I would just leave the phone as-is relative to the OS. You can load any apps that require root and they should run just fine.
