[Q] Zipsnet ICS 4.03 - Moving apps to SD card - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Installed zipsnet ICS 4.03 and I do not see the option of moving apps to SD card or rather the option to move apps to SD card is greyed out. I remember it working on ICS 4.01
Is this a bug? Is it possible to get the download link for Zipsnet ICS 4.01?
Thanks
Kris

I believe its a bug the are working on but if you use romtoolbox I believe you are still able to move apps to the sd card. As far for the link you would have to send a pm to zips to get it cause its off the download page

Odd, on some of my apps the options is grayed out as well and on others it's not. However with apps currently on my SD card the options to move them back to phone is available for all of them.

saved to device or to phone???

i dunno why but i'm thinkn that my apps and downloads are saving to my phone and NOT to my storage card (which is where i want my stuff to be saved) is there anyway i can determine if this is in fact true? if it is going to my phone, how can i switch things to arrange for everything to go to my card???
Pretty sure on a stock phone all apps are downloaded to the phone, and cannot be changed. Froyo (2.2) brings the option to enable Apps to SD card. As far as downloads, there might be a way to download stuff to the SD card, not 100% sure though.

sooooo......if this is in fact correct, what purpose does the sd card serve? i mean what can be saved to it? i thought that all the apps and music i got from the market while viewed/listened to on the phone were actually saved to my card????
i think u can use apps2sd if ur phone is rooted. but no one confirmed if they were able to copy apps to sd card once rooted.
Putting apps on the sd card requires much more than root.
With 2.1 youlll need an EXT partition - which will require a recovery image which we don't have ATM. And you'll also need a boot script to symlink the new ext partition to the /data/data partition.
with FroYo the app has to be enabled for apps2sd in the Manifest file - though CM6 I think can override and force it to the SDcard regardless of its manifest.
Downloading stuff from the browser to the SD card should be easy enough by going into browser > Menu > Settings - But I think it defaults to SDCard\Download\ anyways.

Apps2DS/ApptoSD

First post. I have A7 Dex mod 1.41. Should these apps (Apps2SD or ApptoSD) move the selected app to external sd card automatically? After uninstalling the selected app from internal stg. I have to manually cut/paste to external sd card and reinstall. It must be easier than that.

Yeah I have been trying to figure that one out too. I am using the free version. When I go to the list of moveable apps I do not get the option of moving any of them. If I hit the settings button I do get the option to "move all," but none of them move. I really dont want to move all of them anyway, just my less used apps.
How do you move them from the internal memory to the SD card? I did check a few other forums but couldnt find much.
Thanks!
The current kernel from the official firmware and the custom ones like Dexter one don't support app2sd feature.

Before I flashed a custom ROM everything worked fine, even App2SD. atm I'm using 4.4.2 and I cant ****ing move my Apps which is really driving me crazy...
Also strange is that I have 3 different storages on my phone...

This thread will probably help you if you follow the points step by step. It´s originally written for the Note 3 but can be equally applied for the S4. If it doesn´t, then your SC card is likely to be broken and you´ll need to get a new one.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply but I don't think this will work, nevertheless I will try it an post the result here. My card is definately not broken because it works in my computer and in other devices as well.

KitKat disabled SD Card support for anything other than regular files. this means you cannot move apps to a SD card anymore, you have to roll back to a Jelly Bean rom, or use SDFix, run it, and then use Link2SD to move your apps.

You may also try to "fix Permissions" in recovery

Thanks for not reading the text you quoted. As I said I already tried other android version and had the exact same problem. And things like sd fix don't work sdfix tells me that I already have permission and no change is required..

[Q] Apps are deleted after being moved to SD card!!!

hello everyone
I have been experiencing this issue since I flashed the new lollipop custom ROM "AntaresOne & Alucard24's optimized CM12 builds", and it works pretty well... I have just noticed that whatever I move to the SD card from phone storage gets erased.. i don't know why.. I'm moving the apps from the settings by going to "settings" > "apps" > and I select the app and move it... I've moved an app recently just for experiment, and I rebooted the phone, checked the sd card apps and it says no apps.. so I'm not sure if this is a problem of my sd card or an issue in this ROM.. I've been using this sd card previously and it was just fine..
-please note that this happens only after I reboot the phone and I lose all the apps that were moved and I need to download them again from the play store..
Any idea guys?!
thanks in advance!
I don't know. The GPE lollipop rom I am using doesn't have that feature to move apps to sd card. I heard it's not supported. I'm not sure if on this particular gpe rom or on lollipop in general.
But if moving apps to sd is a custom feature from CM12 then it might still be buggy and thats why they get deleted.
I think you'll be more successful searching the rom thread.
Hi,
It is indeed a bug in CM12, happened the same to me. So, don't worry about it being any problem with your sdcard, I didn't find any solution other than copy the app from the sdcard to the phone as soon as it is installed.

Do i use the MM feature and use my SD card as internal memory?

Hi All
I have a Samsung i9505 and just moved to Resurrection Remix 5.6.2 ROM using marshmallow and am having issues with writing to the SD card with 3rd party apps.
I have used the ES Explorer fix and mount R/W and enabled root explorer however my 3rd party app still shows as read only. The app is doggcatcher. Whats odd I found an article to sort this problem out for Titanium backup and that worked fine. Also my camera picture and whatsapp all get saved to the SD card without issue.
In the end I have told doggcatcher to use my internal memory but that is quickly filling up.
I am tempted as the phone as 16GB internal memory, whether I should backup my files and choose the options where I can turn my 64gb external SD card as part of my internal memory as I never take out my SD card so that option might work for me but the reviews I am hearing are more negative than positive. I did try it out and went back to the traditional approach but thinking that maybe I didnt give it enough time.
I used FolderMount which was great on LL and recently purchase Link2SD to move files to the SD card but my internal memory still fills up. Currently foldermount isnt compatible with MM, link2SD is but I am having a few issues with it crashing and dont find it as easily to use as foldermount.
Any advice would be appreciated on what others have done.
Thanks
I don't know about anything else, but from what I heard is:
If you format as internal, you will have to do the whole "setup your sd card" step every time you flash a rom. Which is garbage, unless you stay on the same rom for like ever.
Dirty flashing a rom might skip that setup, as you don't lose the data/settingd etc. Problem is, you can't always dirty flash. Especially when changing roms altogether. PC's might not be able to read it either even if it is in your phone.
This is just what I gathered over the time, nothing from personal experience.
Umm interesting well I normally backup my phone nightly using both TB and nandroid backup so restoring to a new ROM as long as it doesn't format the whole CSR I should be OK or does it when you install the new ROM in which case my backups are no good unless I save them to the cloud like Dropbox or google drive?
