[Q] Can only boot into CWM from CM7 - Blade General

I am running CM7.2 and wanted to take a backup of my phone. But the phone wouldn't boot into recovery if I turned it on with vol- and power, but stayed stuck on green android instead.
But if I boot into CM7 and select the option "boot into recovery" it goes into recovery and works fine. Please help

Weird. Flash cwm from rom manager again and try.
Sent from my Blade using XDA app

I have tried flashing the latest CWM from clockwork(5.something) as well as 3.0.1.4... both show the same issue
Furthermore if I flash any TPT it doesnt go into CWM and the only way for me to then recover my phone is to install Mile high moldovian pie TPT+ROM which boots the phone and then allows me to go into recovery and flash CM7

There is a cm7+tpt. Its even there for Swedish snow. I don't know how to solve it though. Very rare issue.

U tried flashing an alternate recovery? Last option in rom manager
Sent from my Supernatural Blade

Try to flash a other ROM, or go to ROM Manager and re-install CWM (I'm using 5.0.2 and have no issue). If the problem is still happening check md5 of the files (ROM,CWM)

Ok guys thanks anyways.
Is there some other way to repartition my phone so that I can install ICS?

If u have the default 220 MB system partition then u don't need to repartition. If not, u have to get into recovery :what: and flash a tpt with tpt helper from Google play
Sent from my Supernatural Blade

Yes but when I try a TPT the phone refuses to boot into CWM so I cannot flash a ROM. Then I have to flash a TPT+ROM (MMHMP which has 128 mb system partion)
UPDATE: Tried installing CWM from fastboot as well... still cant go into recovery
UPDATE 2: Tried the windows flashing technique. Same thing.

Flash the Gen2 v10 TPT if you already are Gen2. You don't need recovery for that. This way you can install ICS but you still would need to boot into CWM for it.

I think there are no alternative recoveries for blade.
Are u facing this issue recently or is it there from first.??
I can't suggest anything except one, flash the stock recovery from CWM. Then check whether u are able to go to FTM mode by holding volume down and power. If yes, reflash CWM recovery from rom manager and check again.

Lol. Cwm and rom manager both are developed by Koush. So,not surprising.

Yes I can get to FTM mode on flashing stock recovery but not CWM

im not sure if amon ra is compatible with the ZTE Blade but i can assure you that if an alternative recovery was available for the blade it would be in rom manager since the nexus one has amon ra listed there.

try the fastboot method for this to work you will need to fastboot and adb drivers they can be obtained by installing the android sdk
Steps:
1) Boot the phone into fastboot by holding power on + volume up while connected to the pc via the cable (leave the phone in this state for now)
2) download clockwork mod recovery image from the website http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
3) go to the android sdk folder which is called "platform-tools" and paste the downloaded recovery there
4) shift + right click to open a windows command terminal in the same folder as the pasted recovery
5) run this command fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-blade.img
this will install a recovery for you i had a problem similar to your and this was the solution that fixed my problem

Ra recovery is compatible with blade (there is a tuto but it's in french)

I assume that flashing from linux makes no difference. I could successfully flash from linux but it would still not boot into CWM using vol- and power
should I try amon ?

i use linux to so if you already tried it will not work mate sorry for giving windows instructions but most people use windows
as for trying amon ra recovery i found one that works on the zte blade so far credits go to its respective developer not me mate http://android.modaco.com/topic/328806-recovery-ra-recovery-for-zte-blade-oledtft/ i never tried it but it says it works on the zte blade OLED & TFT versions

Also try
fastboot erase recovery
And then
fastboot flash recovery yourrecovery.img

CW Rom Manager can't boot into recovery - freeze at HTC splash screen

Searched, but couldn't find an answer to this. I rooted and installed ROM Manager so I can do a nandroid backup before installing a custom ROM. However, when I press back up in ROM Manager, it restarts and hangs/freezes on the HTC MyTouch 4g splash screen.
What am I doing wrong?
Have you flashed CWM recovery after installing Rom Manager. You must flash the recovery before you can backup/restore or install roms. I almost did that myself but luckily i read the thread concerning it again and flashed REcovery before trying to back up rom.
Yeah, I did that first and the problem remains. I just uninstalled and reinstalled ROM Manager and am about to try "backup current rom" again (unless I should reboot into recovery and back up from clockwork recovery?).
FWIW; Current recovery is ClockworkMod 2.5.1.2
anyone?
Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I just started getting exactly the same. Cant reboot manually into clockwork recovery or from Rom manager :/
If you have flashed a recovery beyond that supported by ROM manager, you will not be able to perform recovery functions from the app (i.e. backup). CW3 is required for CM7 ROMs, but will not be supported by ROM manager until the CM7 RC drops. You can still manually boot to recovery (I always Vol up when powering then select Recovery) and if you have CM7 nightly installed, it has a "reboot to recovery" option in the reboot menu.
You need CWM3 to use CM7.

Sometimes it is necessary to flash clockwork recovery more than once before it will actually stick. Also, occasionally it will freeze on the splashscreen after a backup, but a battery pull and turning out the phone should be fine.

Here's what's going on:
The Clockworkmod Recovery that you can download from the Market only supports up to CyanogenMod 6.x. For CM7, you need to install Clockworkmod Recovery 3.x, but that version isn't available on the Market yet.
What this means is that you need to find the image file for a CWR 3.x on these forums and manually install it through either a terminal emulator or fastboot. The post below explains how to do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10862819&postcount=3
If you flash CM7 using CWR 2.x, your phone won't boot. There's just no way around it.

Careful with the terminology there. ROM Manager, the app you download from the Market, is a GUI front-end to the CWM recovery image, but you can download and install CWM without using ROM Manager at all. Just because you have ROM Manager installed doesn't mean that CWM recovery is also successfully installed.

You said "the Clockworkmod Recovery that you can download from the Market", and that kinda does. No biggie though.
Just an update for my problem, it turned out that clockwork recovery had corrupted for whatever reason and couldn't be reinstalled from rom manager. As I wanted to test Cm7 anyways I just ended up flashing clockwork recovery 3 manually through fastboot and its all gravy again

And after that the power button does not work until i reinsert the battery... Earlier before rooting and S-off this did not use to happen. Please help!

Can be done in both ways.
When through hboot menu, the recovery.img along with android-info.txt are to be packed into a zip file named PC49IMG.ZIP and kept at the root of memory card.
When from fastboot flash the recovery.img is to be kept in folder where fastboot.exe lies and use it with android sdk. The command is already said.

I also suffer from an unusual problem. After installing clock work mod recovery and rooting ....I decided to factory reset my phone(God knows what made me do this). And When It rebooted then 2 things dont work the htc scenes and the setup app. It is not leading to any other problem ( I can live with it) but still I would like to remove this problem..... No matter what i do or how many times i restarted the phone these 2 things just dont work

[Q]Install ClockWorkMod via Rom Manager?

Hello!
I am sorry if this question was posted before, I just wasn't able to find it.
I'd like to know if it is possible to install ClockWorkMod recovery using ROM Manager or I have to do it in fast boot anyway?
My friend has this phone and I wouldn't like work with fasboot and things like that I've never heard about, because it seems more complex than the methods of installing a custom recovery for my Optimus One.
Again I'm sorry if it's a noob question.
As far as I know ROM Manager is not working on GT540.

I think we should contact Koush and see if we can get ROM Manager to support our device, but add a warning about flashing fastboot ROMs first (as we need them for recovery to work, lets just say its our version of the Nand Lock )
you can install recovery with root tool box or you can use terminal emulator.
I use yaffs expert.I update recovery very easy
Sent from my GT540 using Tapatalk
No, you will have to use fastboot or flash_image.

Incorrect
I flashed the LG Optimus One P500 Recovery image on ROM Manager and then restarted it via ROM Manager. It got stuck, so I flashed a LG GT540 compatible ClockworkMod Recovery image via fastboot and now I can use ROM Manager (for fixing permissions, booting into recovery, etc.)
I think you can flash Recovery ROMs via KDZ Updater

Yeah thas is how I done it, sort of. I flashed the GT540 recovery in fastboot, and then in ROM Manager I pressed menu and there was an option to override so I chose Optimus One and it worked fine.

[Q] Problems with going into ClockworkMod Recovery mode

I have rooted my HTC Wildfire and now i need to get CyanogenMod 7 on it ...
i have downloaded Rom manager i flashed ClockworkMod Recovery mode into the phone...
But when i enter Recovery mode its just the regular Recovery screen that comes up...
I have tryied this 3 times and it still wont work (also after resetting the whole phone)
How do i get ClockworkMod Recovery mode on my phone then ?
EDIT :
I installed CM7 via ROM MANEGER and now i need to install Google Apps.
But when i go into Revolutionary CMW (Revovery mode) and try to Select "apply update from sdcard" all the text just disapers and nothing new is comming up...
What do i do ?
Flashing from rom manager will not give a permanent recovery for wildfire (when there is no custom recovery at first). But such kind of process is there for other phones.
Sent from my Blade using XDA App
So how to get cm7 based recovery . Cm7 needs CWM 3.x or higher recovery. The answer depends on whether u have used unrevoked or alpharev (=revolutionary) to root ur phone.
If u used unrevoked, u must be having some recovery. Here u can use rom manager to flash 3.x recovery and reboot to recovery from within rom manager to temporarily get 3.x + recovery which can flash cm7. Or u can download a 3.x + recovery.img file and use unrevoked again to flash that recovery. Here u should select the custom recovery option in unrevoked and point to ur downloaded file.
And if u have used revolutionary, there will be an option during the revolutionary process where to install custom recovery or not. U can choose to install. Or once u have s-off, fastboot flashing will be enabled. So u can flash a recovery from fastboot with the help of a PC. This is more preferrable. There are also other options. If u search the dev forums u will see posts explaining to install recovery through "pc49img" method. Also "flash_image" method. Both these wont need a pc unlike all the above methods.

What do i do ?
Choose 'Install Zip from SDCard', not 'Apply update from SDCard'
I have tryied all of them....
inclusive "power down" and not even that works its only removing the text and nothing new comes up
Use the trackball for selecting stuff in Clockworkmod. Not the Power button.
WOW FAIL BY ME !!!
Sry guys im still noob at rooting
Thank you for the help.

Help, Blade can't get into recovery

I have been upgrading a friend's Blade but I've run into trouble. I rooted the froyo firmware and flashed CWM. Now if I try to boot into recovery via "adb reboot recovery" it somewhat works but if I try to get into the recovery via Vol - + Power it doesn't. It just gets stuck at splash screen and won't bulge. But if I have flashed a stock recovery I can boot into FMT. This is not the end of it though.
I went on to flash CM9 KonstaKANG release but wanted to do a reflash after doing TPT conversion, the TPT part went fine but now I later realised that I can't get into CWM. So...I got stuck. I flashed a Gen 2 stock via Windows and flashed a TPT image.bin I found that contained a stock 2.3.5 firmware. Brilliant, life saved...no? Turns out I can't root it, so I can't flash a custom recovery to it and boot into it in order to flash CM9. So....I did a bunch of other stuff and at this point the blade has a CWM recovery which I can't boot into, empty system partition and pretty much a boned status. I thought I'll flash a stock 2.2 TPT which I found at: http://amphoras.co.uk/downloads/blade-tpts but the one with a ROM are in some other format than TPT and I can't figure out how to flash them. Can anyone help me here?
Install rom manager (available in google play as a freeware) then flash clockwork mod recovery.
Now u can enter recovery with just 1 tap ie "reboot into recovery"
NOTE USB debugging should be enabled at all times
Add on:
You can root ur phone using an app named z4root.
To permanently root it search google and click the android modaco link

Heh, not only have you screwed up CWM, you also converted your phone into a GEN3 phone in the process (by flashing that 2.3.5 TPT).
Easiest way to fix it:
1, download: http://bit.ly/yUi4Nu (stock partition layout, if you want a 160MB system layout use: http://bit.ly/wEO8Im )
2. unpack it to your sdcard (/image/image.bin)
3. flash it like you would any TPT
You should have CWM installed at this point (just press and hold vol- during bootup) and now you can flash whatever ROM you want to.
