Two main things.
1. The Touch is a fun ass phone. I love my Epic, but the larger screen and smoothness is a joy. I rooted the ET4G and running Calk's latest on there. Battery life is great too. But no camera button? c'mon... Thankfully it only cost $125, so it was tough to pass up. Got the white too, which is actually pretty nice with a black case. And it'll have better resale value too.
2. I really really really need a keyboard. I can type and edit (edit being the key) with the Epic's keyboard better than I can on screen even with a 4.5" keyboard, swype and what not. Wizzing around docs to go, doing real writing that requires thought and such is just so much easier when you can maneuver seamlessly with arrow keys, have a dedicated row for numbers, don't need to hit buttons to get different layouts.
So we'll see how long I can live with the ET4G before it replaces my Evo3D as the home wifi device or goes to another rep, and I'm back with the Epic.
But the point of this thread is I want to see a new premium slider on Sprint. My Sprint bill may only be $1500/mo, small potatoes in the corporate world, but it gives me three different levels of contacts to complain to. The Droid4 with it's warts and all just has me longing for the latest and greatest slider. So if you're in the same boat, it takes two minutes to drop an email to [email protected] and voice your opinion. I've done that as well as sent emails to my care rep and her boss as well as my local sprint rep. I don't see any slider on the horizon and there is GSIII talk for the summer along with the HTC One that is coming. I'm tired of seeing a plethora of mostly redundant slates proliferate the market while the Droid4 and Epic/Stratosphere remain the lone business/productive oriented devices on the market. I can't be the only one in this boat.
I currently have both sitting next to me. I agree, Caulk's ROM is a thing of beauty. But for whatever reason, I still prefer the Epic rather than the ET4G.
Larger screen size is nice, but it only goes as far as videos and some gaming. Other than that, I feel like I'm holding a phone that's meant for "special" people, in regards to the supersized icons and buttons. I'm by no means overweight, but just using the dialer makes me think that I have a phone designed for fat fingers syndrome.
I was a bit peeved at how long it took me to get the ET4G to die on a single charge, though. Probably went through 2+ regular cycles with the Epic with the amount of usage I put it through. Didn't think a bump in mAh would've been that drastic of an improvement.. although, an extra core can't hurt either. Still, would've been nice to have that sort of longevity out of the box.

quick thing its an extra core not processor haha. the ET4G and most newer phones are Dual Core, if they were Dual Processor HOLY S**T would it be a like having a small desktop at your hands haha

The battery life is impressive so far. Can't believe how long I sit above 80. And don't think it's just the battery. I have an aftermarket 1800mah for my Epic that was tested to be 1500mAh. it's what i've been using for two days, and I've been getting much better battery life than my tricked out Epic. Don't know if it's Calk's battery scripts or the extra core. But it is significant.
As far as it remaining my daily driver, I think it would be a different story if there was a res bump. The screen is impressive. Showing pics for work, viewing movies and such is nice, but it's the same reason I ditched my Streak 7. If I'm going to a larger screen then I want more resolution. I think I'm also spoiled by my 17" 1920x1200 res laptop. I don't need a "retina" screen, but if I already have 480p in my 4", I really need 576 or 600 in something bigger and a supposed "upgrade".
The speed and screen size are nice, but I think the keyboard is actually going to win out. But it does make me long for the Epic's successor. The Epic is far from long in tooth, but it is amazing to see the progression of the last two years.
I'll be receiving my International Galaxy Note in the mail early next week and at least it has a bigger screen it'll support 720p, so it's considered true HD. I'm putting the phone on Straight Talk mobile but keeping my Epic 4G since the company pays the Sprint bill. Just worried once I go big, the Epic will feel like a small toy.

Wait so dual core, and dual processor is different? So dual core isnt two 1.2ghz processors? It's just two cores that assist with multitasking and help lower battery consumption and lower heat?

Processors can (and these days most likely have) multiple cores. Then there are computers that have multiple multi-core processors. Many Mac Pros were running two dual or quad core processors. I'm removed from the desktop world but noticed that when I was upgrading my mom's Mac.

If your like me you are having a hell of a time deciding which phone to get/keep. Well I happen to have both and after almost a week with each. Here is my opinion, and why. maybe it will help some of you out.
I am writing this in the nexus forum as to not flame or upset mt4g users, so obviously my choice is to keep the nexus. Hopefully people considering either phone will see this.
I consider myself the average user. Dont care about + or - 200 pts on quadrent (diff between the device) or the quickest update (as long as **** works, I can wait a couple weeks for the updated Maps...) I care more about the look, feel, camera, battery life, and pleasure I get from the device.
Having personal experience with both phone. The only reason I could ever see someone getting the mt4g over the nexus is if you really need more than 16g of space available to you, or you live in seattle (which I do) and you really need that 7.6megs
I'll start with look. I like both phones. but I love the seemless look of the nexus. It look sleek, modern, and feels light WHILE KEEPING a very sturdy feel. If that was a concern of yours... dont let it be. The phone is infact very solid feeling.
Camera: This is where I thought the mt4g would have a slight edge cause of the HD. I was wrong. I took video in my house with both phones at the same time. played them the same time split on my 61" tv and view them fully blown up by themselves on the tv. and to my surprise, for whatever reason the image quality on NS every bit as good. Also I feel the color on the vid and pics was better on the NS. Again. surprised by this...???
internet speed: I have a 4g tower right outside my window that give my mt4g 3.6m. my nexus also gets around 3.6. Again, not a real technical guy. Dont know why they get the same, but there it is. Fact is I mostly use apps. DUH. they rarely require 1m to run lightning fast. (but i'll take the extra 2.6 for the occasional browsing) 4G for me is a moot point and useless unless you do a lot of hotspotting, or just love running speedtest apps all day and brag to your friends. Besides, at some point. your internet speed is gonna be waiting for your processor while browsing and i'm gonna bet its well before 7megs on these phones... I have a 50meg comcast wifi connection at my house. Admittedly, I haven't run tests. But I fail to see any difference between my 50m wifi vs my 3.6m cell tower. hence why I dont bother turning on wifi when at home....
Battery life: this is the most obvious difference. I dont care what anyone says. the mt4g lasts me 3/4 of a day at best. period. If you want to turn off all your widgets, background data, 3g/4g speeds and maybe make it a full 12 hours go ahead and get the mt4g. I know people claim they do, and maybe I got a bad battery. but my mt4g wouldn't do it... the nexus goes all day, and I plug it in at night. Wish it could last 2 days like my last phone, but hey...
finally the screen. the mt4g screen is nice, and supposedly better than most phones, but the NS screen just embarrass it. (whether you have the "good or bad" mt4g screen)(a common problem if you read the mt4g forum)
I was a little long winded, but hey... After having both phones, the choice was clear. except for those few people that need more than a 7.6m connection, and more than 16g of hard drive. the choice for me is now very clear. NS all the way.
Glad you made the right choice. (The big thing for this phone though is it will get updates a lot sooner than everyone else like the mytouch 4g having 2.2 and the nexus s having 2.3.1)
I have a ns an my fiance has a mt4g an i definitely like the ns better but the mt4g is an awesome phone as well
I also find the mytouch real buttons can never be compared to the sexy capacitive buttons of nexus s. but they have the GENIUS button ( )
Try turn on wifi at home, I get up to 17.20mb down. It does't make a big difference while browsing or using apps compared to the 3.0mb from tmobile really.
I have the MT4G and my brother has the Nexus S, i had all intentions of returning my phone and picking up a Nexus S when I first heard about them coming out but honestly I just cant get myself to do it. I love having a dedicated camera button, real buttons, trackpad wake, and the build quality is just so superior. I bought my phone from Costco so have 90 days to return, still have about a month left, but for now I just cant get myself to switch. I do love the screen though, I used to have a Vibrant.
Battery life isnt the best but it does last me from 7am when I unplug it to 10pm when I plug it back in. My gfs mytouch 4g with a different rom has crazy battery life, much better then mine, even when i use the same rom as hers.
I too dont really care about the 4g aspect and would consider myself a typical user

I'm with you. I played with a MT4G for a while and decided to go with the Nexus S. I also kept a Nokia N8 for a couple of weeks, a Dell Venue Pro for a few days and owned a N900 for a year. While I miss the multi-tasking & web-browsing of the N900, the N8 and DVP were quickly returned.
cool guys... yeah. some people just like the mt4g better. it was a tough decision. again. I'm not sold on the build quality being better with the mt4g. i think it may "feel" better, with the cold steal from the back plate. But I think they are both built to last. unfortunately I dont have the balls to put them to a drop test
BTW. the genius button is a moot point cause I have a search button that does absolutely everything the genius button does. (text dictation,maps,web,etc.etc)I guess t-mobiles marketing really paid off here (making people think they are getting something other phones and carriers aren't. kudos t-MO)
yeah... I'm not sure about the browser speed. like I said. I'm not that worried about testing or having 1/4 sec better browser times... just isn't an issue for me. But maybe your right and the mt4g is a little faster...
I agree that the mt4g is a great phone. just not as good as the nexus

this is already been discussed, the nexus s browser has a bug that is not taking advantage of the graphics acceleration. an update will fix it like it did for the galaxy s. you just have to wait for it and it will be smooth as butter.

Re :Genius Button
Having used the Mytouch Slide and now the G2 the one big thing I miss about the genius button is the Driving Mode. You can listen to a text, compose a reply and have it read back to you, and send it all without touching the phone.
Voice Actions is close but in the same situation it requires you to read the message, hit a button to reply, read the message to check it, and manually hit send.
It all comes down to the screen for me. The CPUs in all the top-end phones are more than capable at this point, and most of the internal hardware is largely undifferentiated. But the vast majority of my time spent using my phone involves looking at the screen, not the backplate or a camera button or on a TV via HDMI.
I'll take a crappy looking phone with a gorgeous screen over a beautiful phone with a crappy screen any day of the week.
I've had both phones too, while the NS feels nicer i don't see the real point in getting a high end phone right now, Motorola Atrix, the new Samsung 4.5" eats the NS for breakfast any day.
I got the MT4 because it has a faster cpu which makes web browsing smoother and a lot cheaper so i can save moneys for the next wave of dualies.
The NS is still a nice phone if you want google and all that but the new dualies looks very promising and i'd rather have the latest hardware than whatever google can offer, which at this point i believe is not much 2.3 has been a huge disappointed for me.

Check this video after min 5:00 and see how bad the NS is doing at web browsing, since android GUI is not gpu accelerated the cpu is doing all the force. BTW the desire hd has the same cpu found in the mt4. Dual Core is going to make the NS into a 2nd tier android device. $530 plus tax is a lot to pay for a 2nd tier device if you ask me.
NS owners act like they have the best phone in the world, however i have a feeling that a lot of these will pop up in the marketplace very soon.
Pure android experience or not, pretty much any phone can be rooted and delete the bloatware.

While the scores are nice, they don't mean jack, the quadrant of dual cores i have seen are below 2000 and i'd prefer a dual core phone over a ns any day no matter what a silly little number tells. I just don't know why didn't you pick linpack? oh yeah the cortex a8 version in the hummi sucks at it.

I dont even get what your doing in this forum then? this site has what seems like a hundred phones. I've never been in a forum of a phone i dont own or am thinking of owning. you obviously dont care for the NS. why are you here?
The NS is as fast or faster than any phone out right now. right out of the box, the mt4g might beet in in quadrant by 200. big deal. so the second fastest phone and the only one with NFC is an outdated piece of crap cause in 4 to six months a duel core phone will be coming out?
My NS and any other 1ghz phone is plenty fast for me and most people. (160,000 android devices sell every day) so I guess those people are all idiot as well?
I just dont get the point of you being here? I dont see you calling out people in the mt3g slide for purchasing an inferior phone. its probably still selling better than the NS.
If you want to be a hardware whore. that's your business. Most of use were probably N1 or worse phone owners before our NS purchase. And I'm fine with that upgrade. My phone broke and I didn't want to wait 4+ months to get a new one
And not to do my own flaming on phones that aren't out yet. But i'm sure the switch over to duel core isn't going to be as smooth as I'm sure your hoping. I would be prepaired for some issues on launch devices... (hopefully not. but things rarely go smooth with new tech.)

So lets say hypothetically, the boot loader is cracked and we have custom Roms along with custom Kernels.
Now:
What is the potential of this phone?
...More specifically, do you guys think the Atrix will be at the top of the mobile world for years to come and be able to match up against newer dual core phones such as the HTC Pyramid, EVO 3D or the new Samsung and LG phones?
Would it be a worthwhile investment?
I'm curious as to whether this phone, if unlocked, will be the standard phone to compete against. Will all other phones coming out still be playing catchup?
I understand the specs, and understand that phones evolve rather quickly.... just curious as to others opinions and their view of the potential the Atrix has.

Stuff gets more advanced. Theres no stopping it, theres no way to jump ahead. And theres already stuff about the quad core cortex a9 saying it could come as soon as Q3.
I think the Atrix could be a decent on top phone until 2012 max. Then it's most likely to be murdered by another really awesome phone.
Like other have said tech advances so fast now. with in 10 months there will be something as good if not better along. For example check this out

well from what I know and I could be totally wrong. The next phone that will be on par spec wise with the atrix is the samsung galaxy s2. It will have 1gig ram also and run the same dual core the atrix has. Not sure the resolution of the screen. The camera is 8mp vs the atrix 5mp and the screen is 4.3 vs 4.0 inches. So I guess you can say the atrix will be king of the hill for another month or so. I'm not sure when the s2 comes out but I have heard it might be in april or may.
I think the Atrix is a good platform for "potential" simply because it has everything everyone else is working towards PLUS a big 1930 MAH battery. We can learn to tweak things down the road, but that is one big battery considering how slim the phone is.
Quad core? If you ask me that's unnecessary. A mobile OS doesn't need that much power, just slim it down. That's the problem with the Atrix, it has MotoBlur which handicaps it. What we really need are better batteries, more memory, and a better NETWORK. The Inspire runs just as quick as the Atrix with a single core and less RAM because Sense doesn't cripple it. I had an Inspire and Atrix side by side and I could hardly tell a difference.
And all this hype about what these processors can do for gaming, that's just senseless. We're talking about 4 inch screens and it's still a phone.

Your forgeting one big factor. There is not a OS that supports dual core yet. Once one comes that that utilizes both cores you will see a huge difference. The way I see it cell phones are only about 5-6 years behind PC's. With the popularity of them its only going to get closer. Look at the atrix with some rooting you can use it as a pc once its plugged into a tv/monitor. You are going to see more and more things like this until their is no difference between the two. Who knows 5 years from now in stead of having a pc at home we will have our phones. Just plug it into a tv grab a key board and mouse and do everything we do now on them.

Good point. I forgot GB is optimized for dual core phones. I just don't see those split second differences being a deal breaker for me. I would rather my data over the network move faster (without a tiered plan as well). I'm not much of a gamer either so I'm a little biased in that respect as well.
When it comes down to it, I just want a phone that works and I can use it heavily without worrying about charging the battery. Is that too much to ask? I'm also afraid that all of these fads like 3D is going to convolute what is really important in a phone.
The atrix has the best battery of any phone I've had so far. With a good amount of use. Net surfing texting emails I still get 18+ hours out of it with 20% still showing. I'm at 13 hours since I unplugged my charger and I'm still at 40%

I'd be careful of the update. I was getting similar battery life as you with 5-6 hours of display but now I struggle to get 24 hours with 2 hours of display (and I had to remove some apps like Beautiful Widgets and had to turn off my syncing).
My point on the battery life is no one (other than Apple) is trying to improve battery tech. I had the iPhone 4 before the Atrix and I was easily getting 40-50 hours of use and it only had a 1420mAh battery

i gotta disagree, i seriously doubt the samsung galaxy S2 will even be able to compete with the Atrix, for one, it's Super thin so i doubt that battery will even come close to the Atrix(correct me it i'm wrong), another reason which a lot of people don't like.........Samsung. Now i've never owned a samsung phone, but i've read a lot of reviews of Samsung galaxy S owners, and 95% of them weren't good at all, i also have a few friends that own Samsung galaxy S phones and none of them kept them over a month. So as far as the Atrix being old news, i really doubt it anytime this year and may still have some hype 1st quarter of 2012(look at the Evo, so it's definitly possible)
Its the software that can make a device great (40% hardware- 60% software). What good the specs are if the os can't utilize its full potential. One big example is motorola xoom and atrix. Im a bit sad that the mobile phone market is becomming more of a specs/hardware race. And the software is getting left behind. This has been a problem of android. Hope google and its hardware partners(samsung, htc, lg) would put great money into developing better updates for android so it can utilize the whole potential of the hardware rather than continously releasing new phones with premature softwares.
And yeah they should improve battery technoogy too...

and some, like me, think the 4" screen is the perfect size while the 4.3" screen is too big. However, with all future phones, it just comes down to personal preference.

Wrong, wrong and wrong. Where do you get your information? The build of Froyo running on the Atrix has dual core support.
I see no faster on Atrix running Froyo at the moment. The speed is on par with SS GS and NS. But i rely on Motorola because i have had a few SS phones and all of them had hardware/build issues.
I think the phone will be relevant (to us anyway) for around 3 years, same as with last generations top tier phones.
What I think a lot of people here are confusing is, for the most part, relevance aslnd aactual pole position.
You have to talked into consideration how much better tthe next generation phone is, and whether or not that makes the previous generation actually obsolete or just dated.
For instance, I have the Nexus 1 right now and iI got it after I got the Captivate and Atrix. Yes the Atrix is a better phone on paper but it isn't THAT much better to make me want to get rid of my current phone.
I think, logically, that it will be the 2nd generation up that makes the former irrelevant (at this point). The Atrix and dual core phones announced aalready make the first first Gen smartphones (iPhone 1, HTC hero) extremely dated but the latter half (nexus 1, galaxy s, etc) are still relevant ttoday.
Of course you also have to factor in the applications that are being used and the network the phones are on. Right now, this instant, dual core phones aren't needed because of the speed of the network, light usage for CPU for browsing, and widespread video codecs.
Next year that might change.

Yep I only have 7 years under my belt, because of that I have no clue what will be next.....next is sept 2012 lol.... it wont be an sgs2 unless I really have to have it and can shell out the extra 75 bucks in nov. I know for sure I made a good choice tho, my epic will still stand tall for another 12+ months, I'm enjoying the ride anyhow.
Side note, I'm not so sure the mali400 gpu that's in the sgs2 is anything great, unless its only running one gpu core at the moment, which means samsung will have to update it later....cough never. I want a phone with a powerful gpu and am hoping for sgx-543 or better.

For me it depends if we get the sexy thin version I keep seeing or a softer cartoonish body like the Epic. I don't want a hard keyboard or the thicker shell that comes with it. I want a gorgeous phone next time. The Epic is already plenty functional so only sexy AND functional will ever get me to upgrade.
..But I'll still have a year in my contract by the time it comes out

Clearing data helps swype not suck so much. Its too bad the custom dictionary entries just end up making swype mess up every other word

I totally agree. Samsung would have hit a homerun with the Epic had they given it some harder corners and a little more heft but if the GSII comes in some professional packaging I may seriously consider it.
The dual core processor isn't going to make it that much speedier. Sure it will let you listen to music, browse the web, and play games at the same time. But actual game performance won't be that much improved. Just as it was with PCs and multiple cores.

My laptop blows away my desktop. Both are 2.16ghz clocks. The laptop is dual core. The desktop is single core.
I hope Sprint changes the looks of it if they get it, I dont like the way it looks.

Name the era. Of course a 2010 2.1ghz is going to blow away a 2006 2.1ghz. The refinement isn't the cores, but how much the processor can do with a single clock.
2006 dual cores were no faster than 2006 single cores, except for multi-tasking.
Just as quad cores in 2009-2010 had little benefit over their dual core counterparts, unless you are doing video encoding or 3d rendering via blender or maya.

you'll barely notice the speed difference in the Evo3d or The GS2 compared to the Epic right now... but it will make a HUGE difference overall like the battery life and other thingys
Here's a preview of the international version of the Galaxy S II. The 8 megapixel camera is the best they have ever seen and can record 1080p video with full 30 fps! I hope for the Sprint version they leave out the keyboard and put in an even bigger battery (already a solid 1650mah). I'll take this over the HTC Evo 3d. 3d is such a silly gimmick.

im really torn between rezound and galaxy nexus. I would probably root my rezound asap anyways. same with the galaxy nexus. I guess it comes down to the 1.5ghz processor vs 1.2ghz in the nexus. and the cameras....we shall see

ITS A PHONE! if you needed that much power to make a call then there is something wrong with the phone. i feel dual cores are the most ever needed. maybe beef the ram up and and the dual core's speed to 2.0ghz and that should be the end of it.
Come on guys....does anyone really think there will be an 'end' to this? A year from now...if you don't have a quad core...you'll be old hat. Not that we will need it but, oh, you'll have to have it.

Exactly. After I get the Rezound, I'm gonna root it right away, and probably try to clock it up to around 2.0, I'll be set with this phone for the next maybe year and a half or so. Unless there's an extreme breakthrough in battery technology, I'm not getting another phone for a long time, I really don't care how many damn cores they put in it.

yeah they need to dump $$$ into R&D on the battery and making the phone last longer and not more power. soon we will only be able to run the phone for 4 hours with all the power going into it. if i wanted to use my phone as my laptop i would use my laptop. at full performance the thing only last 2 hours. i dont want my phone to be this way.

longer battery. i would like18 hours of extreme use.
better camera sensors. (ie light sensors, better exposure control ect)
a 3mp front face camera. (that is more than enough)

Well, I'm still gonna go with the Rezound, by the time I'm due for another phone, I'm hoping batteries will be better, and there'll be a better quantity of super amoled plus screens, for HTC, not just Samsung and Motorola, and quad cores, or maybe even something higher, will be the norm. And something like, I dunno, 1080p screens. Though, I'd still only go with a 4.3 inch screen...some screens now are getting too big. Oh, and Jelly Bean will be around by then and maybe some Sense 5.0

Heck the screen on the rezound is really nice! Of has some 340 ppi with its screen which is 20 more ppi than the screen on the iPhone! Now that's a good screen!

As sweet as the Rezound is spec wise if the bootloader is locked with no way to unlock and achieve S-off then it will be the Nexus for me. Regardless I plan in waiting at least a month or 2 or longer to see what happens with each and where the devs go.

yeah that's the theory anyway, since this will be one of the first 4-core phones it could totally suck horrible battery life.
I'm loving a lot of the phones that are coming out, but my INC hasn't failed me yet- and there's nothing pushing me to get anything else besides pure neediness. A few more months and I will see
maybe something tragic will happen to my INC and I'll get one of these badassery phones.
Looks like a sweet phone. Quad-core may be worth waiting for. Battery life is going to be the question though.
Well damn. After getting the Note, it seems like that desire for the SGS3, HTC One X, or whatever new swanky phone with quad cores dies down when I see the lack of a S-pen on these devices. If the Note didn't exist, and if I still owned that awesome SGS2, I would have sold it to get the next powerful device like the HTC One X.
But noooo, now the only thing I look for is the availability of a S-Pen or similar device, and a screen as big as the Note. If it doesn't come with either, I can't seem to get myself to care about it. Anyone else stuck in this strange trap?

HTC is no slouch man. They have been in this for quite a long time and I believe the One X should have decent battery life. It's quite the powerhouse if you put it next to the SGS2, so I'll give it credit where it's due. If the Note didn't exist, the One X would definitely be my next phone.

I love being trapped, saves me a lot of timing keeping up with all the news about newer and faster devices and having to decide which one to buy next and when. Now i just have to wait for the note2. No hurry btw, love the note a it is.
Now let's just hope no other manufacturer come out with this screen size and making my life complicated again

The Galaxy Note needs better screen drivers. The rendering of near-black pixels is awful and the S-pen is not as responsive as other devices. But I would not trade it for any other device right now.
The mobile devices are following the steps of the PCs with the MHz race, which lead to CPUs disipating 120W and needing huge and noise fans. I no longer consider the CPU / GPU / 4G radio when examining a new device.
Like in the PC world, it's OK if you're into gaming and want to load the newest games on your device, but for 90% of the people, they won't see the difference between a dual-core and quad-core. (Recently the boys from Gizmodo gave a few Ipad 2 to reviewers saying that they were Ipad 3, and they provided feedback as such).
But a quad-core CPU, multi-core GPU, has it's impact on battery, weight and running temperature. The same that happened on PCs. It stopped making sense once the CPU was dissipating 120 W.
The same for 4G / LTE / Whatever are now talking about that's 1 Gbps. What sense does make a 50 Mps connection when you're limited to 1 or 2 GB a MONTH?
At 50 Mps you can only use the connection 3 MINUTES before reaching your data cap. This is not serious people, this is just marketing buzz for people that's technically illiterate and cannot make the most simple calculations.

Only one I know of, some low end company.
I think everyone else was waiting to see how well the note did before jumping to bigger screens. It makes sense given the number of bad reviews the note gets.
I think now that they hit the 5 million mark, we're going to see a lot more larger phones. I'm not convinced there is a large market for the stylus though.
The only phone that meets my requirements is the Note. I liked the S2, but the Note is a much more versatile device. I'm a photographer, and the Note is a truly photographer-friendly device. My next phone will be a Note 2, and I'm in no hurry for that.

Tegra 3 it's not a quad-core CPU, it has 5 cores. The fifth core is active when the phone is "sleeping" or with low demanding tasks, in order to save energy. Early reports indicate that One X's battery behaviour is quite good, but none official review is out yet, so it's premature to judge it (unless, of course, you're a samsung fanboy).
I'm going to get a HTC One X in the next 2 weeks, but that doesn't diminuish my urge to get a Galaxy Note. IMO, Note can't be compared to any other phone, it's on a league of it's own. If the biiiig size isn't a problem for you or the issues with the screen, get a Note. It'll do everything One X or SGIII do, only in a BIGGER way!

Just the other day when i was driving in the mud in the forest with my atv, A stick pierced my plastic shield that covers the braking cylinder. I took up my note, Took a picture and sketched on the image how the plastic was attached and what size it was. Sent the picture in like 2 minutes. Got an email back from the workshop that they have cut out that part in metal and was ready to be picked up.
So on my way home from the ATV run i picked up the piece just a couple of hours later and it fits perfectly.
That is the first time i really feelt how awesome the S pen function really was.
Now i might not have needed that part so fast, but it sure was sweet having it done so fast while driving in the woods and with such ease!
Before i even bought this phone i was like wtf do i need a stylus for, Its so Xperia X1 and that phone sucked. But i find it useful atleast a couple days a week!
Feel the same - although for me it's the screen size that keeps me from other devices. Never smaller than 5,3".

For all I know (I. e. Experience) HTC is well known for their tiny batteries on every device currently! And if specs don't change, even new devices too!
For me battery size and performance is a must and after the Note (screen size and SPen aside) I don't see any device capable of getting me through an entire day on a single charge with heavy use.

I know, isn't it ironic that the "it's too big for daily use" argument is put forth mostly by people who have never used it daily?
