[Q] Asus transformer tf101 is worth buying now for 300Euro? - Eee Pad Transformer General

the title describe well the topic...i found the transformer discounted at 300 euro in a shop and i'm keen to buy it, it is good enough? keeping in mind that my budget is max 400 euros and i'll be using it mainly for reading and surfing the net (and maybe some video).
P.S how is fair with a stylus?
thanks and sorry for my English (i'm Italian)

Please provide more information, like
does it include the keyboard dock?
what is the memory size? 16g or 32g?

it's the 16 gb version without keyboard.

In a shop? Still boxed and untouched? A steal IMO!

unfortunatly the 16gb version are the ones being exposed (so not totally untouched) and hardly available, tomorrow i'll try to see the last shop because today is closed.
In the meantime i found the 32gb discounted to 399 euro and this is unboxed and untouched....is it a good deal the 32 gb?

Not a good buy at all, your best deal is with Amazon which is cheaper and with 32g storage capacity. Here's their prices:
Amazon prices tablet only (forex 1 euro = 1.32 dollars)
Brand new 32g 340 euro
.................16g 292 euro
Used like new 32g 258 euro you save 42 euro
.....................16g 218 euro you save 82 euro
Your best buy is the 32g used like new for 258 euros if you can order it from Amazon. The Transformer I bought was a 32g for 240 euros and it works perfectly upgrading to ICS. Good luck!

It costs 54 euros more than the current prices at Amazon, but since your max limt is 400 then it should be ok. Much, much better if you can order from Amazon though because you can return easily if something is not working or broken.

thanks tedr44, i checked amazon but unfortunatly the only one who ships to Italy it will cost 399 dolars so 305 euro without shipping (transformer 32gb used) and i'm keen to buy it. Is it safe to make such purchase in case the tablet is damaged during the shipment?sorry for my boobness but it's first time purchasing from amazon.COM.
EDIT: the price of the 32gb used with shipment is 365 euro and without taxes....so not convenient.

Get the one that is in the shop near you, if anything would be wrong with it after all you can return there. It´ll save you a headache

Amazon has a very good record when it comes to customer service, if you have their phone number you may want to call and inquire about their policy on returning damaged shipments. But in my experience, Amazon will always try to correct any problem you may have because they want you to come back to them for future business. Why don't you try so you have the experience to order online for the first time with Amazon?

Amazon's customer service is amazing. They also have the most lenient return policy I have ever seen.
If there is even a slight problem with your purchase, they will take care of it.

i know that amazon is a good service, i purchased lots of things from amazom.IT, but was concerned about buying used goods. however i realized that buying from USA is not a good deal after the shipment cost and taxes (in italy you have to pay 21% of the price), in fact the 32 gb used will be over 400 euro.
so i'll try the last shop which opens in 2 hours, otherwise i'll wait for new discounts or buy it for the normal price 338 euro....
quite indecisive because i don't know if it's better to wait later or not to buy a good tablet for less than 400, i've read about google tablet but i prefer a 10 inch one.
thanks you guy for your advice

300 bucks is a good deal if you can't come up with the extra 200 for the prime.

unfortunatly all the transformer 16gb were sold. now i'm indecided whether buying it at 340 euro or wait..what do you think is better?

I would wait, the price of the transformers is dropping fast. I was able to pick up a 16GB model over here in the states with KB dock for $250. This was probably an especially good deal, but I can't see the price going anywhere but down.
Does Europe have a Craigslist or similar online classified listings? That is where I would look.

for italy there is ebay, where i found the transformer 16 gb for 250 euro, hoping no one raise the price higher in the next 24 hour....if the price will be under 280 maybe i'll buy it even though is used.

sorry for the double post but wanted to bump the post for attention.....i founded an acer iconia tab a 500 for 299 euro with 32gb, what do you think?

I'd really recommend purchasing through a vendor who will handle issues for you, or offers their own warranty if you are going with ASUS.
My current RMA has resulted in:
Receiving another customers tablet.
Receiving back my tablet, without the charger they asked me to send in, and with the same issue it was sent in for.
Receiving a charger without the adapter to plug it into the socket.
This is still ongoing, and when you call support, they just say, we'll escalate, and someone will call you in 2 days if you ask to speak to a manager, or have an issue.
The device was great while it worked, but I'd personally look for a vendor who is good with returns and/or offers a 3rd party warranty.

i'm sorry for the problem your facing michiganenginerd and i heard the same thing for the transformer prime (was going to buy it a month ago). I'm quite settled to buy the used iconia a500 (32gb) for 299 (with valid warranty) because is perfect fo my purpose (reading and surfing thenet).
IS it ok?

HP touchpad for all Indian wannabe touchpad owners

Here is a good deal I found on ebay India, if you missed the firesale or don't have anyone in US to ship it to you or carry it for you - and don't trust yourself to handle to shipping and customs yourself - you can buy it here - a little expensive - but cheap for a tab of such hardware, and now that Android is there on it
Worth the 350$ - as it includes shipping and customs
I don't know the seller, but have bought stuff from them - pretty good - but takes 3 weeks to get stuff - so if u want one :
http://www.ebay.in/itm/HP-TouchPad-...5?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3f0ebcdf75
But again, I or anyone at XDA staff does not take any responsibility for this
That doesn't seem like a very good deal to me? Those were selling for $149 during the firesale. So you're saying that $200 for shipping it to India is a good price?

Lol. Read this wrong. Thought you meant $200 for an HP Touchpad and he is right it is too much. You can get one in the US for $200.
Why go for a TP for 350$? Get a Asus TF instead or GTab if you want VFM.

I sold my 32GB TP for $280 for which i paid a lot of customs and shipping haha. I don't think its a good deal on ebay. Also the seller cart2...... is just plain bogus, they order your goods after you finish your order on ebay
I agree with archat once can get a better Device for those 350 which is TF, galaxy tab, even gtab is better.
yes cart to >>>>> is total crap...
Read what I said, it's only a good price for those people who don't want to ship it to India themselves or don;t have anyone to bring it from US.
Hardware is same as any other tab and that costs 600-700$, so 350$ is not bad compared.
Your opinion, you can have it
But, 149$ was NOT a realistic price, better to get over that - even HP has.
@Crush : How much customs you paid for it ? You got it for 280$+customs+shipping ? Can you explain
And i don't know about the seller at all - bought twice items were small and reached in time - were exactly the same price as US price.
Just to clear this up for anyone who isn't quite grasping what this thread is about, madnish30 is providing a link to eBay India. If you don't live in India, or need a Touchpad shipped to India, then why are you even posting in this thread?
$150 is NOT a reasonable price for ANY Touchpad. GTF over it. Consider it a one time sale price. US resales of the Touchpad seem to have settled at $200 and $250 for the 16GB and 32GB models respectively.
Considering this and the cost of shipping to India from the US, plus the time it takes to get through customs, $350 isn't a bad price for this tablet. The Touchpad has very good hardware, and is worth the $350 even in the US. It was never worth the full $650 retail price that it originally was, but that's another story.
So, in short, if you don't have any reason to need a Touchpad delivered to India, then don't post in this thread. It really is that simple.
Exactly, well summed up CFB
The touchpad is worth 350$ or more itself, for the hardware _ functionality and the OS too - I agree it's no Galaxy tab, but hey that Galaxy tab comes for 700$ not cheap ! And this is for 350$ for almost the same hardware.
Besides, inclding customs and shipping the seller is earn around 30$ a shipment which is not bad !
250$ is the average cost in US today, so 350$ by no means is bad for India that too including customs !
149$ was a throwaway price, but seriously one need to get over it, it's long gone - and those lucky people who saved a 100$ good for them !
Again, I shared a deal - but nobody is compeling you to buy, you can keep looking maybe one day you find one for 50$ or maybe not

the current prices going on ebay.de at the moment

2nd hands 16GB w/3G (most common) are going for an average of 350-450 (mint) incl shipping
if the seller has a paypal account that usually raises the selling price by about 50 euro. extra sleeves and SD cards also push the the price higher by 20-30 euro
(samples collected over 8 weeks, 29 sales tracked)
prices in the US seem lower
any one got an idea of that's a good resale value in europe?
considering that the cheapest you can get a 16GB w/3G and pen is 522 euro ?
I'll try to keep track of this...
And how is this development? Thread moved.
I got mine on eBay for 420€ incl Shipping
I just got mine off eBay US. Paid $405 for a 32 GB with keyboard folio and dock.
I was tracking a 64gb Thinkpad on ebay and was this >< to getting it today but at the last minute I got called by my boss and didn't update the bid amount and got outbid. it came out to be 423 USD.
Would have been sweet. Oh well.
-----------------------------------------------
Edit: Dec 19th,
Well its official, I've joined the Thinkpad tablet family.
Although I missed out on the 64GB deal mentioned above, I kept tracking other offers and there was one on ebay for a 32GB Thinkpad with keyboard folio, dock and stylus. All for $425. Considering that if I had bought it on Lenono it would have costed me $759 I think its a steal.
It should get to me by this Friday. I can't hardly wait.

Buying TF300 in USA

I'm from Norway, and I have a friend who is working in Huston, TX, USA.
Where is the best place to buy a TF300 in that area?
And do you think there will be a problem with the warranty? Will I have to ship it directly to Asus if I have a problem?
I will just buy the tf300 witouth the keyboard, and I will save around 200 USD. So its tempting.
He can pick one up at a Best Buy. That's where I bought mine. They've got a decent 30 day return policy, so your friend can test the tablet out and make sure it's good and return it or exchange it if there's a problem.
That's where I bought mine. First unit I got had a flaky touchscreen and I was able to exchange it with no fuss.
(Just one thing: as far as I know Best Buy is still only stocking the 16 Gb version. Office depot, however, carries the 32 Gb model and has a similar exchange policy.)
You can only get the 16gb at best buy but office depot has the 32gb version.
I am a bit sceptical, since some people are having problems with it. I think it will be a pain in the a$$ if I get a problem and have to send it back to the store in Huston or directly to asus. But then 200 USD is a lot of money..
Thank you both for the tips..
If your friend knows enough about tablets, you could have him try it out before he sends it to you. You won't quite get the freshly-opened experience, but you'll know that your tablet won't have to be returned.
That is one of the problem, he isnt a nerd
But maybe ha can get the store to open it up and look that it isnt "broken"..
Micro Center sells them for $350 - list price is 400, but they have $50 discount on most tablets. You (or your friend in this case) may even be able to buy it online - www.microcenter.com ...
I bought mine from the store, after returning Prime ... and btw - after rooting, this thing is just so much better than prime ... though with dock, a lot thicker

HP Touchpad 32gb with touchstone and case

hello everyone,
i can get a 32gb touchpad (not new but with all boxes and bills for warranty) for 250 euros which is 309 dollars. do you think its a good deal? the device is in perfect condition
it has the original touchstone and original case and all other accesories which come with pad. the orignal boxes are available and the bill as well which has warranty. thanks for a quick reply as i need to decide
Are you in Europe? I dont know how the market is over there but that is way too high for a 32 GB touchpad. It is a discontinued product and the native operating system is no longer supported. Sure you can easily flash android on it and it has a nice screen but think there are much better tablets around in that price range. But again, not sure how the market is where you are but just my opinion.
And you might get more responses if you post in the lounge as this really isnt the exact place to ask.
Basically I agree with Mendez; touchpads should go for less than 250 now a days, since they're pretty old and were fire-saled at much lower. If you want to spend 250, you can look out for other deals on tablets like a transformer, or galaxy tab 10

That is a terrible deal, you can find a 32GB Touchpad for less than $200 USD on XDA Marketplace. Look elsewhere. Ebay probably has good deals too.
thanks dudes i value the xda member opinions. i got 4 negative replies, so thanks for having saved me money and later regret my decision, i will look elsewhere and maybe even buy another tab

Possible to order this tablet from US to India?

I am still interested in this tablet but the price in India is completely ridiculous, around 47000 (almost $800) for the 32 GB 3G version. I thought Samsung might lower it over time but the price hasn't budged in 9 months.
I am interested in the 16GB Wifi version which seems to be available for around $350 refurbished on Amazon. I was wondering if any Indian posters have ordered it through them and what the final price is after shipping, taxes etc.
Online / store price the best that I have seen is INR 45,500...
But I agree on both counts
1. Price has certainly proved resistant to lowering
2. Its expensive (currently picked up an ipad air 16 gb for 36k at amazon india)
Have not ordered this from US as I will prefer to buy it local because
1. Warranty and repair service - god forbid something goes wrong with the tablet, doubt samsung would honor the warranty of another country and am not confident on the situation of parts and all for a model not sold here locally...service in India stinks!
2. Custom duties - we have some crazy custom duties typicall plus add the cost of shipping and chances are whatever savings in the price you get will be nullified by the cost of having it delivered in your hands.
Me, even if I could accept the second.l, cannot accept the first as I don't want to end up with an expensive paper weight.
Purely my own thoughts, yours may of course vary.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda premium
I agree with your points which is why I wondered if anyone had any personal experience of ordering from India especially with respect to point 2. If the savings are sufficient I would be prepared to risk the lack of warranty.
Samsung has really missed the boat with pricing on this tablet. They could have easily launched the 16GB wifi version for 35. And it's baffling that they have refused to reduce the price. The Note 3 which was released at the same time is now 38 and the GS5 which was released 6 months later is 35. Hopefully once they launch the newer version, the price on the 2014 will drop sharply.
i just received mine yesterday. i bought it via amazon.
It was used( open box Like new). And really is just new unit. But there is little bump on back side near samsung logo.( I searched on google and many new unit also have same issue. and anyway its not noticable.)
Price was $387 (including fast shipping in 2-5 days). It converted into 24263 inr (always place order in USD).
It shipped via fedex. custom duty is little less than 15%.+ fedex fees and service tax. Totally i paid 4268 inr as duty.
Its super easy just make everything clear with seller.
I hope it helps you.
Thanks. So it works out to around 29000. I have to say that's quite tempting even given the warranty issues.
Yeah that's the reason i got one.
