No. I copy back and forth all day. Your cable or sd card is probably going bad.

[Q] SD card problem.

Hi!
I'm using HD2Froyo V3 on my HD2 and have a little problem. When I copy files from my pc to the sdcard on the phone, they dont show up when browsing with the "in-phone" file manager. My question is, why not?
Just to make it clear:
I connect the phone to the pc with the USB cable.
The SD card shows up.
I can copy files to it, make new folders in it, no problem.
But when i disconnect the phone, and browse around on the sd card, nothing the ive edited with my computer is there.
restart phone
Awesome, thanks alot!

Honestly it's better to have you ask now, than to have you post a thread "Help I bricked my tablet". That being said there are quite a few sticky threads in the DEV section of the A500 forums dedicated to getting you backed up first, then flashing to a custom ROM the correct way. I hope that helps?

To the OP.
Not to be mean, but you have no business rooting and putting any ROMs on the device without doing at least some research first. And by research I mean reading, understand and maybe watching a video or 2 to see what's up.
That being said, what you've probably read is that the file has to be put on the microSD card. You can't see the MicroSD card directly from the PC while it's in the tablet. What you want to do is use a card reader, download the file to your PC and then transfer it directly to the micro SD card. Then put that back into the tablet and do what needs to be done.
If you don't happen to have a card reader, grab an app like Astro or ES. Fiddle around with it so you know where all the directories are. You must be EXTRA careful while rooted as you will have superuser permission and can delete wrong files and copy stuff to wrong places.
Copy the file from your PC to the tab's internal memory to someplace easy like downloads or documents, wherever it doesn't really matter. Then simply use Astro or ES to copy the file from that directory to the microSD card while it's in the tablet.
So to summarize, you need to get the file on a microSD.
Option 1: Use a cardreader.
1. Download the file to your PC.
2. Remove microSD from Tablet, put it into your PCs cardreader.
3. Copy the file from your PC to the microSD card.
4. Remove microSD from cardreader, put it into your tablet.
5. Do as instructed by wherever you read it.
Option 2: Use your tablet.
1. Download Astro, ES or some sort of file manager app.
2. Connect Tablet to PC using USB
3. Copy file from PC to Tablet into a directory you'll easily remember/locate
4. Disconnect PC and Tablet
5. Locate the file on your tablet using the file manager, use it's built in function to copy the file from internal memory to external SD.
6. Do as instructed by wherever you read it.
Good Luck.

[Q] Any way to copy files from internal memory to PC?

I'm trying to make a new ROM but I'm having this really pesky problem. Is there any way to directly copy files from internal memory to PC using USB cable? Currently my method is copying the files to SD then copying the files from SD to PC. But it often fails (Phone File Manager *toot*). So any advises? Developers?
Adb pull maybe?

[Q] Flac copy

Hey guys I want to copy flac files to my galaxy s4 and I just cant the copy, process stops at the first flac file I can copy everything else it asks do you want to copy and convert? i say do not convert just copy and it copies it to the phone then stops at the end, if i go on cancel the file is on the phone but when I want to copy the folder (400 mp3s and some flac) it thinks it's not there. Anyone got same problem? Kies also cant copy flac file any ideas? thanks
I don't have any problem copying .flac files to S4. Anyway, the fastest and easy way is to copy to your microsd card using an adaptor directly from your computer. This metod is 100% working without any trouble.

Are you useing MTP connetcion? im doing it with the usb cable from my laptop, also I cant copy to internal SD android/obb folder I think it has some kind of protection because I can copy obb to micro sd and copying rar files and extracting them on the phone works too, are you useing windows 8? thanks
I would like to sort this out because I will take it back to warranty, if it's the phones problem
I do remeber now..I do had problems copying directly from my computer to the microsd card directly. The PC Is win 7 ultimate 64. I got a lot of disconecting and reconecting in 1 or two seconds. I could copy files with retry button from windows but after a lot of I simply get my card out from S4 and I copied directly to. There is a problem, I guess with the drivers from samsung. (I never ever used kies, so I don't know if that way korks or not, but if it is a problem with drivers thr problem should persist)

Hi Guys
The solutioni s simple. There is a problem with audio video codec in the PC - doesn't have anything to do withthe phone.
Uninstalling (k-lite on my pc) solved the problem

(Q) Write protect error

When i mount my ideos u8800x5 to the computer and try to copy a folder from the computer, i get this error msg "cannot copy search the web :The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk". I have tried another disk but the same error msg. When i use a card reader the sd card is working ok. I have tried formatting the sd using fat 32 , reseting factory setting and erasing the sd card same error. How do i remove the write protection from the phone. My phone is rooted and i am using cm7.

hey.. try this..
1) connect your phone to the computer.. unmount sd card.. then remount it again..
if that doesnt work ... you could try this..
use a cardreader
1) copy all your data to pc ...keep it safe
2) Use the windows built-in chkdsk utility.
3)Open up command prompt (start->run->cmd.exe) and type
4)chkdsk /X /F <SD card drive letter>
eg:- chkdsk /X /F D: (d is my sdcard drive)
hope i helped!
Thank you for trying to help. The problem is not with the sd card, the sd card is working fine using card reader. I have tried using the same card with a different phone, and is also working fine. I might have triped a switch within the sd card slot or a program in the phone is preventing writing on the card. I have even tried to reflash the rom with no success. Any other idea?

I have tried both 2 and 3,have not succeeded. I have noticed that when I mount the phone,it mounts as CD drive instead of Removable Disk.
Device type : CD-ROM drives
Manufacturer : standard CD-ROMdrive
Location: on USB Mass Storage Device .
I have installed the (Huawei u8800 ICS ADB & MTP Drivers) . I can synch and copy using phone explorer but not directly to ( drive f: ). I believe if I can be able to format the drive when mounted to PC, my problem will be solved. Any idea how to go about it? Am using window XP and window 7.

you could format it from the phone.. in storage settings.. or you could use a cardreader.. connect to pc..and format it that way.. and cd drive is how the pc would show your phone.. if it isn't in usb storage mode.. so thats normal.. try the two things above.. but backup your data before you do
Then I'm back to square one. I had already tried formatting using factory settings, and phone explorer but the write-protect is still there. I will have to flash back the original rom and return the phone. Thanks for your help.

I have restored the original rom B138 which i had bucked up, the write protect error has vanished. When i mount the phone, two drives are detected (sd & internal mem) as removable disk, unlike before only one was detected as CD rom. Every thing is working fine. BUT When i flash back CM7 after full wipe and replacing the image folder, my problem returns. What am i doing wrong?

No it did not work. I went back to official B138 which i had bucked up, Been using it for the past week with a few force close. I thought of trying
some different roms and flashed this U8800V100R001C00B138SP04CUSTESTC205D001(Esthonia Elisa) . Which WIPED MY IMEI.
IMEI =0
IMEI SV=38
WI-FI MAC address=unavailable.
Now I can't use the phone because of the imei.
I have never bucked up my imei only roms, when i restore the bucked up roms; CM7, Oxygen or the B138 the imei reads 0.
Any help in restoring the imei will be greatly appreciated .

My imei issue has been solved after reading and doing as per this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45618257#post45618257
Now i have the WI-FI MAC address issue ,how to restore the address.
I have noticed the error msg is gone after installing CM10.2 By ilyaaa. The disc is now being recognized as removable not as CD ROM. I can now write on the disk without the error msg, though i haven't figured out why the other ROMs oxygen, miu, and CM7 had issue .
