Galaxy Note oscars commercial - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Finally found it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN9LCARJyfw
Now THAT'S how you make a commercial, Samsung.
If you want to attack the iphone, you do something like this first, but first show someone watching video on the iphone first, then drop the note on top of it.
A 'why do this..... if you can do this'.......'
That will work 100x times better than the 'Iphone users are ninnyheads' commercials you are pushing.

May be that is what v will b gettin in "Galactic upgragde with premium suite" along with ICS

You could see that the Send button on GMail was on the bottom. ICS...

I'm liking the LTE version a lot ... I like that it doesn't have a physical button at the bottom as that's the only thing I'd change on my N7000 version ... It doesn't always sit straight and annoys me a tad

I didn't care for the Superbowl ad at all but this one is great. The anti-iPhone ads were fun to begin with but the Superbowl ad took it too far and was just silly. I hope they continue with this type of ad which shows the strengths of the device in a nicely understated way.

Found a longer and even better version of the commercial.
They totally should have used this commercial in the super bowl.

I like this video, but just curious... Who else watched it on their Note? For me, no other video I've seen has so exemplified the grayscale rendering issue as this one. Looks horrendous.

The longer one is great. A brilliant choice of music; so much better than than the vulgarity of the Superbowl ad. The Superbowl was a missed opportunity but I hope they give this ad a decent amount of airplay. It should be used internationally as well. The international ads ,like this one which has been getting a lot of airplay in India, are decent enough but I like the above ad better. It exudes class and restraint while still showing off the capabilities of the device. It's one of the best electronics ads out there.

Very nice, far better than their other commercials...

This Galaxy Note ad was actually ranked the most effective on US television for the first quarter of 2012.

For me when I played it using the YouTube app and while streaming it using the default video player the grayscale issue is very visible but the blacks are black. If I play it on the browser using flash I see no grayscale issue but the blacks are gray. Haha my screen turned greenish then back to normal like a 50 times while typing this.

I used the app and everything isfine there, if I use the dolphin browser it is quiet pixelated, weird must be some issues software wise if its not playing right on one of them.

What the hell is that app at 0:38 with the guys drawing on the same picture from 2 different phone!!!!!! Its been bugging me since I first saw the ad on TV, me and some friends used to play a game like this online It would be great to have it on our phones.
^^^^ and lol exact same scenes except with the international model, just goes to show how easily these videos can be manipulated to look better than they actually are, watch out!

The video is showing up badly on my note, smart TV and my laptop, I don't think the note can be blamed for it this time it seems its just a poorly encoded video.

Personal Xoom versus Ipad

Well. have had my xoom for around a week.
Little frustrated with some of the non function, Flash is slow and no SD however. operation wise it does everything I throw at it. Happy. Anyway these aren't avail on the Ipad sooo what am I going to do.
My wife came home last night with a Ipad 2 3G.
First things. Grabbing it the perception is the xoom is smaller. Weight wise can't tell. Both feel equall from weight wise.
Screen on the Ipad is brighter but grainer than the xoom.
Powering on.
Hit the ipad power button, powers on shortly and insist it need to be connected to a computer, no bypass. Plug it in and it needs iTunes. What!
Install itunes and get it online.
Done. Strange, Ipad only needs to be connected for like 1 sec before it is activated. Sure this could have been done over Wireless.
UI feels more constrained than the Xoom. usage difference are mainly due to what I am used to. Ipad Keyboard is a pain, have to start changing all our passwords because mixed numbers is frustrating. Xoom is easier to type on, both numbers and also touch typing.
Speed. Ipad has very smooth transitions however task switching, navigation, apps etc are way faster on the xoom. Backwards and forwards, homescreen, etc. With honeycomb there is no competition.
First thing we tried to do was copy some photo's onto the Ipad. Copy them onto a SD card and use the adpater. Nup. Browse to out website, nup. In the end installed photosync and now working.
However my wife will love the Ipad as I love the Xoom.
This morning my 2 year old has already sussed out to open an audio book and is listening to the gruffilo story. That in itself might say something.
I get my xoom today, and play with it for 4-5 hours. Honestly, i saw a lot of force close in web browser/ market, flash 10.2 doesn't work...but i believe those issue will be fixed by update next version of honeycomb in near future. Of course, i love my xoom.

Flash does work...you have to download it from the market. Also, if you are bold enough to root and install a custom kernel, the SD card slot is also functional.

- when i say "work" i mean it has to work at least 90-95% in all cases. Flash 10.2 on honeycomb can't approach that rate. i tested a lot of website this afternoon, watched a lot of flash video on my xoom, and i can only hear the sound or extremely choppy. However, flash 10.2 on my mytouch 4g, galasy s, even hd2- running android is far better than that.
- There is no custom room right now so i don't think i need to enable sdcard function. BTW, 32GB is enough for me.
Ye have a couple ipads here and one is for my 3 year old. I had to get her one after she figured out how to play angry birds Rio now she knows how to navigate net Flickr and watch kid moves and TV shows she even downloads games its crazy.... oh I have a zoom too and she can't figure it out lol

Ty for your review this makes me feel a bit better about my decision to get a xoom next month...and as far as weight I was wondering bc a lot of people out there say "The Xoom is way heaver then the ipad 2" and that may be true, but does it feel super mega pushing a boulder up a hill heavy like people seem to be claiming?

No it does not feel like a super mega anything up a hill. People that say that should get out from behind the capacitive screens more often. Google the actual weight difference. Its very close. I have a wifi xoom and my girl has a ipad2. My xoom feels more solid than her ipad2. And she hates it when I show her different home screen layouts or transfer something from my SD card. I just tell her that "uncle" Steve says its ok.

I've had my 3G Xoom since day 1. This is my One month and then some Review.
I've found the Flash usage on sites in terms of both video, audio and animation content to be pretty damn smooth.
Sadly certain sites refuse to work with the stock browser most notable Channel4.com/4od and tvcatchup.com.

Flash does work at least 90-95% of the time.. It may lag a bit if the site is flash heavy along with bunch of ads. But it gets better once you zoom on the flash video that you actually wanna watch. I pad can't do that. Also, my mytouch4g can't play any song on mixcrate.com, but my xoom can. So I wouldn't really say that my mytouch4g's flash is better than my xooms.

On the topic of the flash "issues". When I first got my xoom flash was sketchy at best. But once I rooted and blocked ads, I haven't had a problem.

new demo video with touchwiz

funny how they photoshopped "Samsung" onto the front of the tab on all of their videos.
The most interesting piece is something about support of multi kind of video format and user does not need to convert!!!
Is this because of touchwiz has better video player? probably ...

I saw a TV ad last week for the galaxy tab 10.1, and it also had the "Samsung" logo plastered on the front bezel. I think they want to remind viewers that they are not looking at an iPad/generic tablet commercial.
Could be just a simple Samsung sticker.
It looks like it doesn't suck. And those mini apps sound like a good idea.

In stock honeycomb you dont have a separate video player app.
Have heard that the tabs that now ships with touchwiz has a dedicated videplayer app like the SGT 7" have. And that the support for divx/xvid is better.
lets us hope that with touchwiz and Samsung we can get a btter video experience like we are used to with the 7" Tab that worked so good playing video.
Does some one know if the Galaxy 10.1 shiped with touchwiz is divx certified like the 7" Is?
Edit: when they shows the hdmi adapter it looks that they also have connected it to the charger, if you have to have it connected to a charger to make it work it will suck.

Lol @ "tap life"
Any word on whether not these features can be turned on or off?
Worried it may make things sluggish.
Do like the app while still in app functionality.
Just a reminder of how every once in a blue these skins do provide functionalities that should be default in android.

Everybody says that. Moboplayer plays just about everything with no conversion already. Playing everything back smoothly at 24-30 fps is a different story.
I believe when the Galaxy S came out it was one of the first phones to play DivX videos stock and it did a good job of it too... better than Mobo player does now I believe... and that was before anything else was around. Could be the case again?

This is true. The Touchwiz video player on my Epic (1ghz hummingbird) was much better than moboplayer. I'm really hoping Touchwiz makes the video playback at least equal to that - it was incredible.

Just got the Note...Wow! (from Iphone 4)

Usually, when you eagerly await something....read all the reviews, watch the video presentations, when it finally arrives, you're usually a bit disappointed that it didn't live up to the hype.
That's completely the opposite of the NOTE...its awesome. After using it for about 5 minutes, then going back to use my iphone, it felt like a small child's toy. There's no way I could go back to using a phone of a lesser screen size, the Note really is a computer in your pocket. everytime I look at it, puts a smile on my face
Also, not specific to the note, but coming from the Iphone 4, being an IOS user since the 3G, I was blown away by the Android OS...it simply works; unlike the IOS where everything requires a workaround or a complex series of tasks to do something as simple as load a movie.
*Got mine from Handtec, polish version, just inserted a new SIM card on Rogers network, everything worked perfectly. Didn't have to input any setting for data or anything. Customs opened my note, but I think Handtec also did, as the language was preset to English?
Glad you like it! When I first got mine, I liked the big screen, but thought it was maybe too big... but now after using it for 2 weeks, even going back to a 4.3" screen feels wimpy! :-D
Good mate, i am from the iphone 4 too and i get mine tomorrow and i cannot wait!!
It makes me feel sick when people talk about the iphone as its the phone from god. People do not know what they are missing. I pray I get my phone from bymobilephones on saturday. Driving me mad!
I've been extremely happy with my white Galaxy Note so far! Display is perfect, no dead pixels or anything else *knock on wood*. The image is very crisp thanks to the high resolution panel and with the 2.3.6 update, it is butter smooth. I really don't have any complaints yet and I've had the phone for a few days. I plan to do a review for my website very soon and I did make an unboxing video of the white one here: http://www.techinferno.com/2011/11/15/unboxing-video-samsung-galaxy-note-white/
I agree. The only time I feel a bit sad is when I use the browser. I found the iPhones browser more user friendly (easier) with the tabls and quickness. That I dont get here but everything else seems better.
Try the Dolphin HD browser, I didn't like the stock browser either, dolphin is really good, with shortcuts and efficient browsing (with tabs). Its free in the appstore.
Will try it out. Thanks.

Try Opera Mobile, it's fricking awesome! I was also disappointed in the stock browser (odd, seeing as how I was coming from the GSII) and Opera Mobile is as if it's inside my head. It works so well! Buttons exactly where you want them, excellent lag-free performance, when you zoom it re-locates perfectly, if you click a link that's too small and it's not sure what you're trying to click, it zooms in right there. It's really great.

This drives me nuts about apple.
Around the world to do some simple task, and people think it's great.
I'm a recent convert to Android from HTC Sense / Winmo 6.5.
I miss Sense and the WM registry but love Android.
Android actually allows you legally to mod your phone.
Why hang with turkeys when you can fly with eagles.
I wish the monitor were Super AMOLED Plus 800x1280.
The clarity is not as crisp as Sensation SLCD (reading text)
and color rendition is not smooth transition (launch XDA developer app and see the ugly orange transition). granted, I disabled Dithering in Sensation (CM7 option).
I'm using Movie mode in Display setting.
Comparing your iPhone 4 and Galaxy Note, which one has a louder external speaker? Which one has a clearer external speaker?

Yeah, same here, but we can't have everything right?
I'm sure Samsung had their reason for doing so and went with PenTile instead of the RGB path.
It's not like they say in an instant, "sure go with that". Research is been done first among many others things before they decide which one to use.

[Q] 7.7 as eReader

Hello to all, Im Xan and this is my first post
Id like to ask those o you who are already 7.7 owners how good the tablet is as an eReader.
how good the reading app included is? (I've watched some promo vids and it seemed a little laggy)
I think it has a "night" mode where the background turns black and the text is in white. Is it pitch black or just dark ? i mean, does that black gives some light?
Im a happy kindle owner but it has obvious limitations..since its not a tablet.
Tablets are good for a lot of things but almost all them use screen technology not suitable for reading
(so far the pixel Qi and mirasol tablets in the market have been a dissapointment)
This is the first tablet with a Samoled screen...thats why im asking how good it is as an ereader,
how it treats your eyes during a 90 min reading session? does the night mode makes things better?
Its a lot of money, so if im buying this tablet i want to kwow i can totally replace my kindle.
Thanks for your time
Dear xangroba,
I do not have the samsung 7.7, and I am a junior adviser, but I know the super amoled technology.
An e-ink reader as the kindle and the sony is the best solution to read since are not backlighted, so your eyes are not stressed after one work day with the PC, nightmode is nice but not the solution in my opinion.
Still I think I ll buy this new device because ezpdfreader and repligo are really cool, and manage annotations in a better way, and are continuosly updated.
I strongly suggest you to take both with you, in the end is less than 500 grams to bring around.
If you do not have a tablet samsung 7.7 is amazing in my opinion. No price to play chess, surf the web, annotate documents on the go, every avid reader could love this, epsecially in these "cloud" times
Reading on the 7.7 is fun. I read a lot and tried many ereaders, and this is finally device that meets all my requirements (light, gorgeous screen, fast, easy to hold with one hand ..yet a big screen)
To reduce eye strain I use an app that allows me to set a custom background. I have set it to a particular shade of gray so that the illumination and color corresponds to the color and illumination of light that is reflected by a book or paper.
The night mode is fantastic for reading in the dark. And of course because of the amoled screen it almost uses no battery power.
(Btw no reader app is laggy on this 1.4 ghz processor )
Thanks for the reply.
Can you tell me the name of the app you are talking? (or other similar apps for that matter...that you may know of).
so...can I induce (...ehem...deduce) that the eye strain problem is negligible to nonexistent?
perhaps youre talking about dimming, dimming its something you can do with other tablets, why the reading experience its better with this one?

Of course I set the brightness to a minimum. But that's not enough. The problem is the illumination of the background. This can be customized by setting a different background color (if you like induction : set the induction base to black
There are a lot of eReader apps that support custom backgrounds, including the stock ereader. I myself use the Aldiko eReader (but I want to work on one myself. I hate it that no ereader allows to define a "dead spot" where you can hold the tablet... but that's a different story)
I think the way the native ebook app on the 7.7 is kind of crappy. But, Aldiko Pro is awesome, and I've had no eyestrain reading several chapters at a time. Granted, it will not be as good as a Kindle or other e-ink reader, but if you tweak the brightness and fonts to your liking then it is very much usable.
im a barnes and nobel customer so i use the nook app, which works just fine. with a black background and the brightness all the way down its a joy.
black on a super amoled screen is ... actually black
I'd like to use one as a reader too, should I worry about the burn in effect?
Has anyone seen any videos of Kindle app running on the 7.7?
Looking at getting this to use for Kindle rather than my Nexus and just want to see they difference it makes on the slightly larger screen

I guess it would be no different from what it's like on any other HC tablets, apart from maybe being smoother due to the exynos.

Indeed. In fact, the Kindle app works fine enough on my old Tab (P1000) already. This doesn't seem to be a particularly system intensive piece of software.
How is reading PDF on ezpdf?
Are the text readable when fit to width of page (portrait view)?

Youtube/streaming Quality is Awful! Help!

Hello! I'm (a) new(b) here...and I recently got this wonderful tablet--it's my first, and I absolutely love the screen. Applications look awesome...and the doodling...yes, the doodling! :good:
Yet I just had to go on youtube (and basically a couple of other streaming video websites...Hulu Plus looks like Block-pocalypse ). The videos, even when set to "HD" buffer quickly, smoothly...but the actual content is, unfortunately different; most of them are blocky, and clarity is lacking. My (retired...it cost around 400$ in its day and has a terrible graphics card) laptop, 5 years old, even looks better and sharper even if the resolution is the same and it's stretched across 15 unforgiving inches (even WHEN set to medium quality it looks better...). On the smaller screen...well, there's a strange pixellation/distortion effect going on around sharper lines, whilst the laptop doesn't have the...quirk. Lol...at least the tablet's speakers are better.
I know I'm being a snob--the quality is somewhat passable...but hey. It's freaky. I noticed the quality gap instantly by simultaneously playing the two devices side by side on the same video. And so I'm a little bewildered. Well, a lot.
So...I might as well ask: is this...normal for tablets to look much worst then bigger-screened laptops with similar resolutions ? I think I remember being impressed last year when I picked up a old Transformer 10.1 model and looked at a Youtube video. The clarity impressed me. Have I been spoiled, or are tablets simply not as able as I thought, or wonder if it has to do with the wi-fi router I have? Well, like I've said, the videos all buffer without lag. :/ If I have to configure something...I don't know where to start!
Disclaimer: I tried for about two hours to look for a solution...but I'm too noobish to even know what to look for. You can e-slap me for being so dumb if you want. Also, this tablet is basically new. It's relatively unaltered. But I have installed adobe flash player. And I made sure to click on the "HD" option on youtube... >.>
Thank you sooooo much for any help. :crying:
Mine looks fine. Update YouTube (AFAIK they include fixes when they update the app)

You don't need to be rooted. Like it says unless YT is a system app, which I don't think it is

There's a fix on reddit that works in the US. I blocked 206.111.0.0 and 206.111.0.16 at my router since I have multiple devices on my network and I can now play YouTube without constant buffering. Here's the redditt article with the instructions that I followed. http://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/13kmvd/have_time_warner_internet_but_can_barely_stream/

Yep id have to agree with ya, Ive had the same issues, blocky video, with some sites, ive compared it to my 5 year old netbook and same thing, also did a quick comparison test with the tf201 prime before returning it, and it definatly didnt have that issue.
Any one else notice pixelation on the hulu website or is this just 2 random events?
Youtube sucks for me too !!!!
Any ideas ?

From my understanding, that APK is only necessary for people who DON'T have the HD option available.
HD options are available on all WiFi only devices, unlike Smartphone devices.
So the Note 10.1 having the HD option, doesn't need this APK.
