Lol, otherwise you will do what ?
Streak 5 is already dead, the only chance to get ICS is from developers of CM9 .

Well there is no official update for X10 by that time sadly.
But Sony has announced that the 2011 phones will have the update, which I think devs will be able to port it onto our X10s. Moreover there would be a CM version of it as well.

It's a dumb convo at the moment, since there is no possible way to answer your question
I heard that the new update will be made to run even on some low spec phones so it might be possible

I watch Google i/o all the time and they did say that they will be releasing it for low spec phones. But the problem is SE. They wont want to spend money on a phone from last year so I hate to say it. The X10 will not get 4.0 ICS officially but unofficially yes we will.

lets wait for the devs to make custom android 4.0 roms so that we can use it in our aging-and-losing-official-support x10..

Ice cream sandwich will be epic
There has been a few sneek peaks on the web and I like what I've seen!
Sent from my Blade
I hope it can become a reality in our x10 ... Our devs have done a great job. By Sony Ericsson we can't expect anything because they said they will not upgrade beyond 2.3, remember that they said the same thing with the upgrade to 2.1 and now we have our phones with 2.3
I'm fine with SE not releasing 4.0 for the X10. It's an old phone and I don't expect SE to bankrupt themselves just to do so. Gingerbread is pretty robust and there's a huge number of apps that work with it, it's not going anywhere for a while. I think the only other phone from that Android era that will get 4.0 is maybe the Nexus One.
However, since the '11 Xperia range *is* getting ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), they are probably going to use the same kernel (2.3.32 - based on their prior history). With that said; Their's absolutely no reason why the devs won't be able to port ICS to the X10 (unless if Google does a 180 and doesn't release the source code - like they had with Honeycomb). As far as an official 4.0 for the X10, I doubt it and there's no reason to get anyone's hopes up or else we're going to have another full on XDA SE X10 revolt like before, haha.
It can change but I think ICS will see the X10 only through the devs.

Ice cream sandwich
or Android 4
Is "scale able"
The x10 now has a unlocked bootloader.
So it may be possible for someone to port it.
Currently honeycomb is running successfully on new tab device
I am waiting for that one on my x10
....
If 4.0 launches in December then we may have to wait till march

i hope by then there will still be dev to write for the x10. i will be using the x10 for another few years.

[Q] ideos x5 supports android ice cream sandwich?

You think the ice cream sandwhich android system supports ideos.x5?
or can be supported with custom roms ?
The next version of Cyanogen will be based on ice cream sandwich!
Maybe we could not get the ICS, because Huawei will not creat the 3.0.1 kernel for X5.
Sent from my u8800 using XDA App
With custom ROMs, sure! About official, not sure yet.
Sent from my u8800 using XDA App
I highly doubt there will be official ICS. Huawei doesn't seem to be the best company at giving updates to our phones. Still no gingerbread and you guys are talking about official ICS.
EDIT: People should also read the forums rules. Development forum is only for rom, kernel etc development. So if you are not developing anything you should put these in the general section of the forum.
What is needed to be done to get the 3.0 kernel to this phone?
with custom roms supported.... k?

yes, right...
Then, as soon as the code comes we will be able to know which phones can take it.
It is my assumption that the U8800 will have some minor problems with it, if ram is an issue.I find no problems with the hardware though. If ICS has hardware acceleration on the browser and UI, our GPU can take it.I find no reason not tofcourse we will have to see what happens with the drivers, and what we need to change.
I am positive though.
Huawei Forums;
Senior Vice President of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Yu Chengdong: I see some friends who use the old product U8800 asking if 2.2 can upgrade to 2.3 version as their expectations and concerns. Huawei's mobile phone R&D focus to a more leading ICS 4.0 version, with the fastest speed for the main products directly to upgrade to 4.0, for which cannot be upgraded to 4.0 will also be upgraded to 2.3, unless some of the hardware capabilities are limited. However, Vision Honor and other new models provide the first public version 2.3, and then will be the fastly upgraded to version 4.0!
ideos x5
Vague bull***t... :/ Whats that suppossed to mean? After all these months of waiting for the "october relase of gingerbread" now we'll have to wait for a (probably fictional) upgrade straight to 4.0?
They just keep reminding us why they sell their phones so cheap dont they?....

Samsung has ICS SDK because the Google Galaxy Nexus Prime will be launched next month and will have the first phone with ICS.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM9RO-GAKjE
i think it will
i think it wont..
On this site, it says all newer devices HAVE to have the latest update for the first 18 months after they go on sale. I think our u8800 is new enough. (In Estonia available at August, announced in December 2010 worldwide?)
And, Open Handset Alliance members are here, as you can see, Huawei is there.
And I read somewhere that ICS should support >1 year old devices, so even if we don't get the official port, we'll get a custom one hopefully.
would be great to have ICS to x5

Is SG Tab 10.1 getting Ice Cream Sandwich officially?

Has Samsung announced that GS Tab 10.1 getting Ice Cream Sandwich officially?
To make it quick, yes.
Thanks, but can I ask; is it a reliable source?
There has never been an official statement from Samsung about ICS on the GT10. But rest assured we will get it. It will probably come from CyanogenMod as CM9. Watch for that... (no idea when, though. Might be tomorrow and it might be February...).
I posted this statement according to the following source: Click me!
Yeah.. not a really official statement, but it went through the media back then.
Logically there should be an official release. Thanks for replying!

Porting Ice cream sandwich

Hey guys I was quite shocked to see no thread about Ice Cream Sandwich. The dell Streak is quite capable of running it but I cant hardly see any development for it are there any issues that I need to know as I am new here. Thanks
Sent Using my so Called Brain
I heard that DJ_Steve tries it and other developers tires to run ICS on Streak.
hPa upload a his mid-development datas(His streak broken so he didn't continue it.) about ICS, actually CM9's.
You can build a CM9 with hPa's data but it's close to alpha version. It needs more development to daily use.
OK so where is the topic about it...?

I can't remember where I saw a DJ_Steve tries to develop ICS ROM but It's true.
Some Korean developers were tries to port CM9 to streak. They were not comes here and they were at their own internet community at Korea.
That's all what I know about ICS develop on Streak.
streak 5 hasn't the same hw of streak 7? In this case it would easy to port the ics (I've read it will be available for the 7)
or I'm wrong?
Streak 7 uses NVIDA Tegra2 and it's diffrent with Streak 5's hw.

Not using the site's search engine is an issue.
Seriously, this has been asked before and the issue is always the same: drivers. Because Quisda (makers of the Streak) refuses to release the sources for their drivers ICS simply will not happen unless the drivers can be reverse engineered.

Sony should concentrate on finishing 4.0.4 and making a final release rather than releasing the current version of ics. Arc users will appreciate that much more, I think.

It's a nice idea to give Arc user a first look, but 4.0.3 it's still unstable in Arc, that's why they should finish 4.0.4 and then make it available to our phones. I still prefer custom roms, they seem to be working better.
we know how 4.0.3 is...but wat about the people who are not on xda forum? normal people who dunno anything about rooting or bootloader unlocking..or who dont want to do..actually they dont care whether its 2.3.4 or 4.0.3..but atleast for the name sake sony should release watever they have worked on ICS till now so that whole arc family can eat ice cream sandwich

Trust me when I say that most everyday people will regret the ics update as it is now.
First . Camera video is not what it used to be. Most everyday people get the arc for the camera abilities.
Second. Games are pretty much screwed in ics. All I have now is angry bird and cut the rope.
Take some time to think about it. Will everyday non developers really appreciate ics ??

Guys stop whining about the ICS release. Guys like you ( no offence) wanted ICS to roll out very soon. People on xda wanted ICS to be released as it was under development. but when it was released people started whining about tje release has bugs. Please give Sony sometime to fix these issues.
HTC hmm. The htc incredible s which had a scheduled ics update last month didn't get anything. Htc is a fool if it is rolling out ics updates for outdated and non deserving devices earlier than their 2011 lineup. Even sensation series has not got the ics updates ATM.

Also, Sony Mobile is a much smaller team compared to HTC, Samsung and the likes so you can't expect the same stuff in the same duration.
