How to install MIDNOTE ICS ROM for Galaxy Note - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hi Guys,
This is my video of the tutorial to install the MIDNOTE ICS ROM onto the Galaxy Note.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1TK2LhjZwg
Hope it helps.

Hit the Thanks button if you can

Very nice tutorial! I'm debating on ICS myself.....but this Darkyrom is proving to be VERY stable with franco kernel #6.......the main thing i like about ICS is swiping programs to close them....lol

I'm using 2 weeks ago MIDNOTE version 2.0 and it works great. In my opinion the best ICS to note galaxy so far.

Will this work on i717r?
Hi there:
Great tutorial! I'm just wondering if you know if this will work on the Rogers i717r?
Thanks!

poor battery life (~5hrs)
great video tutorial ash!
followed your instructions and was able to get it up and running. i did have to dig through the original thread for how to fix the skype issue though.
just a quick question: i'm experiencing really bad battery life on the note. i'm not doing anything particularly processor or screen intensive, but i'm getting only around 5hrs before i dip down to <30%.
any tips on how to improve this? have there been any updates to this rom?
thanks.

the battery issue i was having led to a completely dead (unchargeable) battery that scared the crap out of me. i thought my note had been bricked. i'm still not sure if it's due to the ROM or just a faulty battery. i do know these batteries have some intelligence built in, but i had it go through an entire charge in about 2hrs doing nothing much.
anybody else experience insane battery depletion followed by a bricked battery?

Hi Ashwin
first of all thank u so much for ur nice video tutorial on youtube.
I have Galaxy note GT-N7000 phone which I bought in december 2011.
The reason to write u is I have some problems with my note.
1st is battery lasts only 4hrs maximum even if I keep my 3G network mode active and only email client and nimbuzz massenger keep running in background
so what I heard is rooting phone will disable company installed apps, is that true?
I got LB1 kernel version. so could u pls suggest me some links to root my phone and also advice me what apps I install on my note to get maximum battery backup with 3G connection. (but im still confuse what is custom rom which u were advising at last in ur tutorial)
you also have upgraded ur note to ICS and im interested in installing it later.
Give me a proper guidelines as im new to this android os phone. previously I was using Nokia E72.
your help will be appreciated.

and also let me know if after rooting my note im able to get online updates?

If you are on stock you might get updates (tho updates might cause loss of root) but id strongly suggest using a rom like check/rocket and use the updates given by the developers... thats a lot better imo
Hope it helps

ICS 4.0.3 Beta 1 for the SGS2

Hey guys
I'm more of a reader than a poster but anyway, I came across a guy that has created a ICS Rom with the help of some guys on here I believe ???
Anyway the ROM is there for download and sees to be pretty close to a finished artical.
I guess go have a look give it a try and if it is as described then Happy New Year to everyone

Enjoy

Look at his build.prop, sais everything about this guy. Instead of crediting Teamhacksung for almost everything he took from them he just insults them in his super tuned build.prop.

Ok, thx
So, what the point of this thread?
well I guess theres some conflict here but as long as the Rom works and everyone that was involved gets a mention I'm happy. Surley thats the main thing right give everyone what they want, anyway thats enough from me, happy new year to you guys its there if you want it
Does the ROM work fine?
Any nitz and RIL issues?
All this slating of airbus360. However if anyone bothers to try his rom, it is much better. I've been using cm9 since the first alpha up to the most recent release. It was good, but not a patch on this. Airbus's rom is much smoother, especially when flicking between home screens. Its also a lot faster. So although he may have used Teamhacksung code, he's obviously incorporated a few improvements of his own. Before anyone criticises, they should install it. It's a step up from the current cm9 builds.

This is exactly the same as CM9, except it's not using CM9 launcher and quick toggles in status bar.
So, is this rom fully working? What remains to be fixed?
This is not a development thread, there is no development going on. So, moving this to general.

This is my whole point, if you bothered to install this, you would realise it is not the same as cm9. Don't listen to others and try it yourself. Its much smoother and faster

Noon Question. How to install this so called beta version. Help pls.....
Been using this since last night.
Basically, looks the same as CM9 minus a few modifications, yet the ROM is a lot smoother then CM9.
Battery for me is great, roughly 1% loss an hour. Removed all uneeded apps via Titanium Backup.
Ive noticed one slight problem with the incoming call screen, icons misplaced. BUT, Still can be used.
I've had No FC's either.
I do really reccomend this ROM

Pros of rooting a tablet

Just got this A500, my wife also has one and hers runs much smoother after this latest update... Kinda choppy initially... But she took the ota, as she is not really for rooting and modifying.
I was considering rooting my tablet but wondered what the benefits were... I know Cell phone has wifi tether and other goodies, but I didn't really know what I would be gaining. I haven't taken any ota updates a of yet.

Performance and battery life increase, removing annoying stock apps, being able to customize the theme and boot animation, easily backup all your apps and the data for them with titanium backup, being able to use root only apps such as adblock and sixaxis (use a ps3 controller to play games). And a couple more im sure .
Ok I need the performance increase, the A500 lags slightly. the last ota gave my wifes tablet a big boost but it also changed the bootloader or something so now it requires a different rooting method.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Overclocking and increasing the speed/performance of the A500 was my primary goal for rooting. The lag and stutter between screens and when opening programs and scrolling through menus was unbearable.
So now Im rooted, and running whatever roms I can get my hands on (totally addicted).

Almost night and day. Scrolling is so much smoother with performance scaling set and super stable running at 1504mhz on the lastest Epiphany 3.2.1 rom.
Using 2.6.36.3HoneyVillain-3.7+ kernel.
Also the security features of Apps such as LBE privacy guard - blocks permissions I don't like when I install a new app...
I don't care what anyone says, a torch app DOESN'T need to access call/sms logs, get my location, get my IMEI/IMSI or access the net....

here is a video tutorial i used if you need to root from 3.2/3.2.1
http://youtu.be/zfSPP8UOn78
if you are currently running 3.1 you can use this one.
http://youtu.be/ks4T0coq68w
after rooted i suggest flashing a custom rom. this can improve your performance and battery life as most roms have all the useless stuff riped out!!

I am having a problem booting into recovery? I know I'm rooted because i just downloaded root-browser and it asked for SU rights and I granted them. I held the left volume, and power button, then released it after you see the ACER logo right when the small texts pops up.. mine just goes to the Triangle with exclamation point.
You don't have to install clockwork mod or flash a recovery to start installing ROM's??
yes get clockwork. sorry thought that was in tutorial.
also when booting hold the buttons down till the fourth line comes up

Testing complete - SentinelROM

BETA Testing now complete....
ROM will be available in the Development section soon.
Sentinel196 said:
Hi all,
I am the developer of SentinelROM, which is one of the most popular ROMs for Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and HTC One X.
SentinelROM is compiled by me with modified CyanogenMod 10.1 code (additional tweaks for performance and battery life, as well as some theming). So far the ROM has been very successful.
I've decided to release the ROM for Samsung Galaxy SIII (i9300) also, but I need your help as I don't own a SGSIII to test with.
I am reaching out to anyone who would be willing to flash my test ROM and test a few things for me.
If you're interested, please PM me either here, or via the SentinelROM facebook page. I will reply with a download link and instructions.
I only need a few people for testing, so please don't be offended if I don't get back to you with a download link.
This ROM is for i9300 only at this stage, so please do not reply if you own an i9305 as the ROM will not work on your device.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the plug mate.
OP updated with a download link so you can get up and running right away.
Looking forward to some feedback so I can launch this ROM
Well i am installing this now will let you know how it goes..
Thanks heaps!
how did you go?
I wish I cud try it too. Any chance for us I9305 users to get this? Maybe later when it gets a good rep on i9300? I know you asked us users to not to reply but I cudnt resist asking

Well everything is working as normal. I played about with the rom it is pretty stable. Everything works, and when i fell asleep unlike cm the battery never drained maybe about 3 percent drain overnight which is great. So the battery life on this rom is excellent. You're good to go with your rom. Sorry for the late reply i installed this around midnight. Used the rom and till about 2am and fell asleep. I am still using it. I must say overall it is a great rom. Thank you very much. I've not yet found a fault but maybe i might find one but that would be cm related.
For a beta rom this is really stable. Onlything maybe it isn't a big problem now but in the ota updater lol it doesn't recognize the device as MO.
Beautiful!!!
I'll credit you in the OP. Thankyou very much!

sentinel rom v 4.5 for gt-i9300
Hello, Sentinel.
First of all I'd like to thank you for this truly amazing rom, there's so many things I can do with my phone and change almost everything I want to within it. I only found 1 issue which may not be an issue at all, I might still be a bit inexperienced with all this modding stuff, but I haven't found a way to overclock or undervolt my phone using your kernel, but I took a risk of using siyah kernel 1.9.1 which is said not to be compatible with 4.2.2 JB and basically all new roms that are out now, but the funny thing is IT DOES WORK! And I think that siyah 1.9.1 kernel and your custom sentinel rom is the best combo ever for my galaxy s3. The battery works great even when I overclock it, it's really stable and never glitching. I can say I'm a heavy consumer, wifi constantly on, and I'm playing psone games with and emulator alot and it still does a pretty decent job. On my next payday I'm definitely donating, buddy. And in a months time when s3 stock 4.2.2 JB will come out, I'd like to see what you can do with that one aswell.
Keep up the great work, best regards, Lietus.

Hi Lietus. I assume you posted this here because you can't post in the ROM thread, so I'll answer you here
My official position on over/underclocking and UV/OV is discussed on my website. Have a browse.
Sorry but it's not something I support in my ROMs. People are alwsys welcome to use other Kernels to unlock these features if they want them.
Looking forward to payday
Hey, this is my first post, you did a really good job with this rom!
Is there any way to disable the fullscreen keyboard feature?
I understand where you're coming from and I totally agree with you if we users want we can make it ourselves using different kernels especially when your ROM is that great and it accepts different types of kernels. And I've got 5 different types of android machines which could use some improvement so if you're interested and have the time to expand your ROMs through those it would be just awesome. Because your ROM is actually the first custom one I've tried, and after a lot of research I can't seem to trust myself with someone else's

Er, sure!
But I believe that my review pretty much sums it all up for those who want to know whether they want to flash or not. Basically, I try to incorporate all the information into my review so that people don't have to waste their time searching through hundreds of posts to find out whether we got the camera update or the gallery update, etc.

I just installed the rom and so far no major problem
wait a few cycles to see how the battery goes
Also shall I point out that this is mostly likely a pre release or a beta? Thus not expected to be fully functional or fully operational
Unfortunately, Samsung are not releasing a new source code so there will be no custom kernel for 4.2.2.

What's the odds, I'm drinking tea while reading that you are drinking tea.
Are there any Roms out for this Stylo yet? Other than the the one and only cm12.1 ?

I wish there was another custom rom out besides cm12
Hi. I am having trouble maximizing battery life. Im rooted with 5.1.1 voi and cannot get betterbatterystats, juice defender, or gsam root companion to work properly. Just was wondering if anyone knew anything about that. Also was curious about what apps or processes were safe to freeze/uninstall with tb. Battery life is great already but any tips any of you guys had on keeping it great would be appreciated...thank and cheers

Draken, have you tried LG Apps Theme Engine. It does everything but get rid of the carrier on lockscreen, but the good news is the Dev is working on that as we speak.

na only Module i have is GravityBox which is not bad i just wish had the Carrier Change thing other than that is pretty good.....
wondering if there is a way to overclock this device at least up to 1.7
Give LG Apps theme engine a shot. Even though i do enjoy gravitybox for the skip track option.

Can you overclock it with a custom kernal?
Maybe someone in here can tell me... Is there only one custom ROM out for the T-Mobile Stylo so far? And thanks for caring. I do like this LG.

Me too brother. CM 12 is good and so is stock, but I love pushing my stuff with variety. Maybe soon huh? Take care.

Never learned exposed framework. There are a ton of resources though...not sure how these modules would help my battery....i really like my stock rom but can someone post a link to cm 12.1....i think going to a different rom would fix this. I wish i could get slimbean or resurrection remix on this phone
