WP7 on windows 8 without Zune - Windows 8 General

Will Windows 8 work well with WP7 without Zune? Zune on windows 7 is so stupid. When I install Windows 8 on my PC,I will post my experience about it.Welcome everyone to post your experience here, too.

There's speculation the with the Apollo release of Windows Phone, Microsoft will release an all new program designed specifically for Windows Phone and completely kill off Zune, offering music from a new/different service.

Zune on Windows 8

How do you install Zune on Windows 8? I've tried but it requires frameworks 3.5. I can't install frame works on Windows 8 because it says 4.0 is already installed. WTF?
Be connected to the net and just install the program. Windows Installer will see you need something and ask, then it will retrieve and install the missing .net frameworks. If it doesn't do this then I think yer stuffed.
I installed Zune and it didn't run very well on Windows 8

Yea I was connected and everything but Widows 8 sucks right now; hope they really fix stuff before it is released.
What you have right now is an Alpha release. The beta release is due beginning of February.
You have to install the complete Zune package, which can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27163. The install will take longer, but you will end up with working Zune software on Windows 8 DP.
JBC2005 is correct, I would download the complete installer package and the install should be doable from the legacy desktop interface.
One of the things that I was surpised about with the current version of Zune (4.8.2345) is that it is not as finger-friendly as you would expect the app to be. But it does work.
You're complaining about it sucking right now? It's a developer preview build...it is not expected to even perform like Beta software! Give it a few weeks until the beta drops ...even though don't make any final judgement until it is finalized.
Wait for release of RTM of W8 and zune update will come with ...
Well the now release just came out a few days ago and I will be trying Zune on it. One thing though MS is looking into creating a new music client to work across all of it's platforms including XBOX. I'm not sure what this will mean for Zune.
Zune player works ok with Windows 8, although the Music service in Windows 8 isn't zune anymore, so I don't see the point of using that since whenever I go to Windows 8 Music Marketplace, it doesn't let me stream songs, it however, asks me to either purchase or preview, so this is definitely not zune. If it was, then I should be able to still, stream and download songs since I have zune music pass.
Music and Videos app in Windows 8 is tied in with Xbox interface.
When installing Zune, a pop-up will appear saying to download features needed (.NET 2 and 3.5?)
When plugging in a WP device, it will install without zune, although the app that's supposed to manage the WP device isn't there yet, the drivers are built-in.
The .net framework is there you just need to enable it by going to control panel then add/remove software and then windows features

Windows 7 programs and WP7 app on Windows 8?

I want to Install Windows 8 on my Notebook. Before installing i have a question. Can Windows 7 programs or WP7 app runs on Windows 8?
Almost all Windows 7 applications work in Windows 8's Desktop environment. Some tools that alter the system at low level might have issues. I've currently not run into any problems.
Windows 8 can't run WP7 apps. It only supports Metro Style Applications built atop WinRT. These are similar to the model of WP7 App development but Developers have to port the to the newer system (which makes a lot of sense because blowing up a Smartphone App to a 12"+ Display just isn't all that usable).

Windows Phone 8 or Windows Phone 7.8 with external SDcard support

Hi,
I hope that some of our HD2 Wizzards give us Windows Phone 8 or at least Windows Phone 7.8 with some hack of external SDcard support like Windows Phone 8 have.
Could be some of these choices possible ?

[Q] Can I update Windows 8.1 into Windows 10?

MI run my business at Windows 8.1 now for publishers and advertisers. But it is said Windows 10 would be published to the public at the end of July. So now, I do not know whether I can write my business by Windows 10 or not.
If I do not update, I only can support my Windows 8.1 users. But if I have to give up Windows 8.1 users, whereas I can get windows 10 users.
However, I do not there are how many users will switch into Windows 10. It means if windows 10 gets more users, I will update.
How can I know that?
Thanks all!

Anyway, I have updated my device with Windows 10 Preview. I need to know how can I know whether I should write ad programming for my Windows 10 users. I am afraid there is only few ones using Windows 10.
You can update and run windows 10 without problem. Only downside is that, application compatibility since it wasnt official yet until july 29th.

yes, it is the problem. I have run Windows 10 Insider Preview. It is indeed beyond of my expectation. It runs slower than Windows 8.1 and the Store gets huge problem. It is unable to get access to some apps downloads. Unhappy....

Features on Windows 10 Mobile?

Hi, is it possible to connect Windows 10 Mobile to NAS?
Also, does it have photosphere?
Being able to connect to NAS is a must. I need to get a new phone and I want to know if Windows phone is right for me but I don't have a Windows phone so I can't test it out. If Windows 10 Mobile can do it then I will wait for Windows 10 Phone come out before buying.
Thank you.
