Brazilian GT-N7000 Thread (Tips & Tricks | PT-BR | etc..) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I saw a similar thread for the SGSII and thought that it's a great idea.
There are quite a few brazilian note users and we need a place to share local experiences with the Note.
I'll also take this opportunity to offer my JIG to anyone in my area needing that assistance. I live in Londrina, PR so if you're around and need a JIG let me know
(Even though Chainfire's TriangleAway will render the JIG useless once everybody move to ICS).
I bought my note on eBay, but recently visited a vivo store, and with a 200 minutes plan the note can be had for just under R$ 1000 which is quite good.

Good to have a Brazilian Note thread.
I'm American, living in Rio for 3 1/2 years. Ordered my Note from Amazon in December and picked it up when I was in the States in January. Have been in total awe ever since.
My first smart phone was a Nexus One (ordered the first day it was available). My second was Nexus S (actually ordered for my wife). I liked it so much better than the Nexus One I got one for me. Both were updated to ICS and not rooted.
Then one day my wife left her NS in a cab in Rio. That gave me the chance to get the Note and give her my NS.
Without a doubt, The Note is the best smartphone I have ever used. Too many features to flout, but the DISPLAY! Simply amazing!
How could I ever go back to a smaller phone? My wife's NS seems like a toy now.

Hello Guys!
I'm from Brazil too. I'm from Blumenau, SC. I loved my Gnote. My first android phone was a Galaxy S and after 5 weeks with my new GN i'm loving it.
Abraços!

Hello, I'm brazilian too, from Santos/SP.
There is some ics custom rom available with language Portugues(Brasil), already?
thanks

i would not bother with the leaked roms right now since the official release is right around the corner

Greetings from Rio!
Got my n7000 from VIVO, and rooted soon after(zergrush). Then installed chainfire's kernel and a newer ROM (la4 right now)... Couldn't be bothered to wait for an official VIVO Rom (their Galaxy Tab support taught me that)!
To be honest, I'm not sure I can ever revert it back to a true 'stock' kernel/rom. Can anyone answer this?

Hmm.. The problem would be to find it... Once you did flashing with ODIN is super simple.
I'll try to locate it for you.

Found it : http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-N7000&r=6
Second one is for vivo. So downloading it in flashing via ODIN would bring you back to stock.

Thanks bro!
I think mine came with ubkk3/tokk1 (gb 2.3.5), and these firmwares weren't available a couple months back. Thanks for the info!
Thanks again for this...Would I have needed that JIG thingie if I had flashed my Note through ODIN?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA

If you flash an original firmware your flash counter stays zero so no. Plus once ics is in the picture you can use triangle away to remove the triangle and flash counter any time you need it.

So guys, I'm looking to buy a new phone in order to replace my Defy.
I'm between the Note and the Nexus (Galaxy X for us).. I'm in love with the screen size and batery life of the Note, but I'm worried about community support for it.
Is the brazilian version the same found in the US? I mean, am I going to have problems when the time comes to update to Jelly Bean? I say this 'cause we all know Samsung won't update it past ICS...
Thanks in advance.
Abraços.

Brasílian note is exactly like the international version so no worries there.

Really, assembled in BR? Hmm. Kinda glad it's the same as the international, then.
Wouldn't the product code be different in this case?

I'm from RJ, capital, and am used to customizing Android in all levels, so give me a ping if you need help.
And never wait for official releases. If you think international ICS is taking a while, add 3 to 4 months for brazilian ICS.

+1, surely add months from internacional releases and their arrival in Brazil.
I'm from Rio too, vivo made in Manaus GNote and I'm on imilka's AOSP ICS. Everything works perfect, aside from known bugs of course.
I'm on 160dpi... Perfect pure ICS tablet set up. Every who knows what is doing should give a try in this ROM. Any problem, PM me (I'm trying to not fload threads with basic questions)

News on Gingerbread update for P1010L!

Well, just wanted to share some information that fell on my lap with you guys.
I got in contact with Samsung Chile via Twitter here in South America, and I asked about the Gingerbread update for the Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi. They replied saying:
"@Samsung_Chile: Estamos trabajando en el update, debiera estar en 2 meses más. Para videochat puedes ocupar Skype o Quick Saludos!"
Click to collapse
It basically translates to: "We are working on the update, and it should be available in another 2 months. For video chat, you can use Skype or Qik."
Well, considering this came from the OFFICIAL Samsung Chile Twitter account, there is some credit attached to it. But then again, the same person didn't know that Skype is a) not supporting video chat for ANY Tab officially and b) that Skype needs 2.3.4 to work for video as far as I know.
So take that as you will. The word comes from the official Samsung Twitter account, so that counts for something. But I think a grain of salt needs to be applied in this case.
Just sharing the news with you guys! Hope this answers some questions for the rest of us Wi-Fi owners.
any news for the GT-P1000 ?
I was holding off on rooting/flashing my Tab because I was waiting for the official update to hit T-Mobile USA customers.
I'm glad I finally said "screw that" and flashed the Overcome 2.3 ROM. It's really easy to do, and if you're tired of waiting I'd recommend going ahead and giving it a shot.

I would, but I have the Wi-Fi model of the Tab. Not the 3G. This clearly says P1010L! Not the 3G model!
And the Firmware isn't compatible across both versions, sadly.

I'm guessing it'll also be in 2 months then. I mean, why not? If they are rolling out the update for the P1010L in 2 months here, it stands to reason that they'll give the P1000L the same treatment... after all, it is the more popular model, I think.

Great news for you!
I have the GT-P1010 and hope it applies to mine as well. I've been holding out as I didn't want to accidentally brick mine trying to root it so this is wonderful news! I wasn't sure they would do it cos I heard the P1010 model has inferior parts which make the ginge update impossible. A sliver of hope is definitely better than none and I'm content to wait 2-3 months for the update to happen...if it does.
Thanks for sharing the news!
Yesterday I recived a response from Samsung Mexico about when and if there will it be an update, the response was this:

estimado en el cúal estará disponible la actualiación Android 2.3 en
México.

It translates to something like this:
We apologize for the inconvenience Mr. Rodriguez, still do not have a time
estimate in which will be available an Android 2.3 update in Mexico.
Maybe the employe does not know that there is no update at the moment or there is really an update in the works... only time will tell.
I almost forgot, My galaxy is an P1010 model no TV tunner.

You never know, it could be that the Mexican branch has no idea of what they are talking about, or it could be the Chilean branch that is mistaken. There's no way to know, really. I just hope it'll happen because it'd be terrible if it didn't. Froyo is alright and all, but it doesn't hold a candle to Gingerbread.
And with no Dev scene for the P1010, we are sh*t out of luck in trying to get GB on our own...
just so you guys know, you can get Skype working on the P1010 using the modified APK in the android software development forum from user "droidrx". it works on my GF's fine, except that while you must hold it in landscape mode, the camera feed that the other party sees is rotated 90 degrees.
Also, unless the app has changed, only the back camera works so no real face-to-face
I got a tweet back from @samsungsupport on the question of GB on the P1010. They claim that "we (samsung) are not permitted to speculate. Stay tuned!"
Now you could argue that they are hinting that it may happen and to stay tuned for updates. I personally dont think it will happen but they have been slightly ambiguous.
I wish they would though, i need something to play around with on my Tab!

You make this sound good! The TI-OMAP processor has no advantages compared to Exynos, and we are going to get more people with bricked phones because they flashed a GT-i9100 ROM on their GT-i9100G.
Why anybody would call it v2 is beyond me.
The oonly positive on this is better battery life and less heating up, the GPU is much lower powered though

This letter is A for I9100, G for I9100G.
But yeah, as armanderli said, they have already started selling I9100G in France (since January). It's becoming harder and harder to find an I9100.
I guess they're only shipping I9100G to Europe now.

I guess it's more of a techno commercial aspect to the company's decision. When the G device shares the same platform of galaxy nexus its very easy for them to unify the product line. Also about the custom rom, I feel ICS will get much faster ported to G version because of platform and the custom development will kick in rapidly.

I got my I9100G through internet shopping and I didn't know there is different versions for I9100 until I fired up the phone and start. Cause not that much data about G versions from Samsung around. Also box is the same. Just a little "G" placed back and bottom of the box. I can clearly say its not that much difference about performance or other things. Gpu is 300 mhz its right but SGX540 is a lot compatible with games than mali400. Cpu 1.2 dual same OMAP but its working 1008 mhz which is perfectly goes up 1200 mhz with oc. My official 2.3.6 rom's quadrant score around 3200. Its not heating and battery performance is very good. Of course official ICS is on the way. There everywhere is "G" version now and custom roms & kernels & mods will come day by day. I'm happy with my phone.
Samsung says no ICS planned for the Galaxy S II....
(i9100g)
Ask them and you will see....

The SIII is too expensive.Should I wait for lower prize and buy it in August or just buy a HTC ONE X(international version)?
I tried I9300 and ONEX in zhongguancun, both of them are good, but I like S voice, I think SENSE4.0 is ugly.
IF I don't buy anything, my S5570 Galaxy Mini will with me for the following 3 years(senior high school), this means FCs、freezes and reboots will be in the following 3 years, OH NO!
JUNE 25, the blue ASIAN version(32GB) is CNY 4060 on Taobao.Still expensive
OR wait for a QUAD-CORE with 2GB RAM in South Korea? NO,South Korea version doesn't support [email protected] (2100MHZ is my carrier(China Unicom 3G)'s frequency).
one of my classmate prefer HTC one x ,so another classmate dont know how to choose between onex and s3
compare with their performance on glbenchMark,s3 is higher than iPad2,it can be compared with the new iPad.but onex tegra3 is not so good.
for screen,s3 is more powersave, but it's pentile, not as good as RGB.
for power,s3 win.

Mainland version sucks in my opinion.
I currently live in Shanghai but I will go back to US to finish the college. So many variants to confuse us. Personally not a big fan of LTE version. I guess I will wait a little bit till someone test them all.
China/Hong kong cell phone market always has two different channels. The official one which is more expensive but has warranty and all that, and the smuggle one which their phone comes from other region and often times there is no guarantee what you going to get with these phones. Phone can be refurbished, vendor renewed, battery and accessories can be knock off product. So...unless u know what u are getting into I would stay away from those. In general HK smuggle stuff is pretty solid, but ya the ones in china I would just stay away. Spec wise unlike US where different CPU has to be used to support LTE, china usually get the same spec as international version, with china Telecom may have variation due to their stupid self developed 3G format.
And to solve the mystery Chinese gs3 is identical to the international version with no LTE support.

I bought my WO-branded SIM-free SIII in Xiangtan last night from a good Samsung store (RMB 4,999) and it came with all the warranties and paperwork. What a disaster it is. No Google Play or Android Market; loads of bloat etc. Where are Chinese people supposed to get their apps? I'm a Brit living in China - I suppose I'm going to have to delve into all the rooting and flashing stuff now, with a generic UK image.
Jeez - what a disappointment so far.
XIAOSpider - no worries. I did the same dumb thing an bought a China Unicom S3.
I found the following link.
bbs.gfan.com/android-4381769-1-1.html
Download the 7zip file and following the instruction in the attached image. I used odin 3.0.6 to load the modified ROM (basically contains the Asian international variant).
this should resolve your google play store, maps, etc
enjoy
I'm glad that if I choose the plan for students here in Taiwan, it only costs me about 480 USD
But I'm still waiting for pebble blue tho xD

Bye bye iOS - Welcome Android

Dear all,
First of all, sorry if I do some gramatical errors when I write in english ... English isn't my default language
After have used 3 iPhones (3GS, 4 & 4S), I've decided to left the Apple's smartphone. Reason? Reason is very simple, after doing the update to iOS 6.1.2, my wifi button is became greyed and still greyed I try to discuss with Apple to swap my iPhone but no change ... In Belgium, the warranty for Apple is ONE year and following european regulations, the warranty should be at least 2 years!!!
So I decide to change the rule and break the wall ... After a benchmark of the market (S3, S3 4G, (future) S4, HTC One, Z, etc.) I choose the S3 4G.
Ok, no problem to change the world when using natively Google ... Stop the iPhone, put the SIM into the S3 4G GT-I9305 and let's go.
After the first period of excitement a bug appears ... some time the S3 don't ring when incoming call came ...
First part of the solution, change the SIM to a newest. Conclusion: better signal from the Proximus network (4G).
After 2-3 weeks using the native Samsung Android version (4.1.2), I investigate to flash my S3.
So, because I'm using a Mac, Odin is not a good idea.
Based on this forum, I decide to follow the steps below:
1) Backup IMEI through a Windows PC
2) Download directly from Cyanogemod site: Clockwork Mod Recovery, Heimdall, CM 10.1 and Google Apps
3) Upload to the SDCard of my S3 the CM 10.1 and Google Apps zip files
4) Using Heimdall, I flashed veeeeery quickly CWM without problem
5) Reboot and go to CWM menu to wipe and install CM and Google
So, as from past saturday my S3 is working on CM 10.1 Android 4.2.2.
First result: The fluidity and the daily confort is better with CM than native Samsung firmware.
Just a "bug" ... incoming calls make no sound by vibrations yes ... following this forum, I've maybe a problem with my MP3 ringtone. So, I'm using a native ringtone and waiting for a non ringing incoming call
A great thanks to Cyanogenmod and XDA to provide a very profesional experience based on native Android.
Kind regards,
Andr3.be

I'm not a Fleming but I speak flemish
Currently, yes i'm happy with Android ... I've also an iPad but ... i'm looking for a Android tablette  so wait an see
XDA needs more people like you, taking time to research your problems without spamming the boards with questions.
I think you will be happy with Android, it's so much less restrictive than iOS

Haha that verb should go in urban dictionary "To glebun, the act of spamming forums with useless posts just to raise your post count"
But let's not derail the thread.
Dear all,
Thanks for your 'hello messages' :victory:
And don't panic guys, that's not usual for me to flood the board with stupid questions ... Google is my 'best friend'. :good:
This evening, I've experienced the CM update ... Wait for download done, reboot the S3 ... and that's fingers in the nose to update my S3 with CM :good:
I'm happy with my Jelly Bean and I love the easter egg ... Multiple taps on Android version shows the red Jelly Bean

This post is much better than the normal 20 posts saying "how do I do this, that or the other" when the questions have already been answered.

Oh yeah. I totally agree on this. Well, people wouldn't mind if those "how do I do this, that or the other" are asked on the Q&A forum or in the specific thread. But on General forum? Oh gosh! That is just ridiculous.

Nice experience
I also just bought my S3, replace my iPhone 4. But you know what, after 2 weeks i enjoy the stock rom from Samsung, i already root my phone and flashed carbonrom into it
It's totally new experience for me to costumising android phone. But then i searching in this forum, read a complete 'walk through', cross my fingers, and thanks god, i did it with no problems.
Thanks to xda n google
For me, i can't be lazy to search and to read on the Internet if i want to use and costumising my android phone
Welcome to android world

Well, this is my first Android mobile too. And I came from a couple iPhone experiences and Symbian N8.
I totally discovered a new world here on Xda. With iPhone I became a lazy user taking and standard apps and there isn't much to customize...
Symbian scene is half dead (still a pity btw) so Android was the better option for those who want some challenge and improvement of the device.
Pity I'm just a beginner but since I started reading this forum I learnt so many things :fingers-crossed:
I remember being impressed with IOS initially, now it drives me mad, not even being able to change your keyboard or properly interact with the filesystem, it's nice to be free! I'm loving CrDroid at the moment, so much to play with.

Time To Say..Bye Bye.....

Hi all my dear GTab -2 users....
After so many hours of thinking and discussion with my team mates I came to a conclusion to say Bye Bye to my bellowed GTab-2 community....
As you know guys I have contributed for tab2 from very starting stage of development....I started my development with Jelly Beast rom at initial stage and and till now I have produced many different ROMs ...I hope you all enjoyed my work....
Yes I have very hard time on writing this thread (my last thread in this community ) because this community was a part of my life from past one year.......but am too over loaded with devices like nexus5 ,note3,note2,Samsung s4,nexus4......etc...
I strongly hope you guys understand me and my point....and co operate with me....
I still remember my promise about SOKP
So @DarkStryder will be representing and maintain official SOKP rom for both variants of Tab2 from my side and my team...I hope you guys will support him and cooperate with him in his threads....
I really miss some users here....hope we will meet some where in xda again.....
So at last I want to thank all my users and supporters who supported me from very 1st post here..thank you so much guys for your cooperation's. And support...

Sadly when VZW does get the Note 4 they will lock down the bootloader like they did on the S3, S4 and the Note 3. I was running an earlier version of Android 4.1.2 and refused to update. The new 4.3 bootloader locked the phone down and while rooting is possible anything other than TW roms are not able to be installed.

Ya that's why I call Samsung as samsucks....:sly:
They will never do what users expected but they will do what is not needed ....
Example Knox .....I don't thing its need ...
They would have over hauled tw ui in kitkat...
But they never bothered about that.....
Too bad samsucks....

Sam-sucks! They won't get my money for locked devices! We will move to Nexus, HTC or other root-friendly brands.
I now understand your post of yesterday, @Audio God and words "I will tell it to my mates"!
But if you will be involved in the development for the N7100 we will meet here soon again
