I hope your not insultin the viability of the nook... lol can't you see im a hardcore fanboy
What i came here to say is that a basic port ha just been released to the community so other devs can help deeper-blue with the project...
I can't post a link as im on my nook using the xda app, but if you go to the nookcolor android development forum you'll see the thread.
EDIT: it also has quite a lot enabled, including wireless and accelerometer function
WTF Man!!! Why are we left behind, again! We should have dibs on that first!
I'm down to put a donation down if somebody helped porting it on over to us. Development has been soooooooooooooooooooooooo slow
I would love to have honeycomb on my gtab...even if it isn't 100% at opp speeds because then my gtab will start to seem a little more like my computer to me and a little less like my phone only bigger.

Apparently those guys porting did the work on the nook color, these folks and more are working on it:
Team consists of @ProTekkFZS , @rhcp011235, @Framework43 & Long2know
Good luck guys, I know it will be done before I even get to know webOS
Ok gentlemen, here is the situation. The HP Touchpad can now be had for $88. I just bought two of these capacitative touchscreened 1.2 ghz dual cored and gpu equipped tablets. With a 1gb of ram and all the other guts needed, IF YOU WANT A HP TOUCHPAD AS OF MIDNIGHT AUGUST 22nd LOOK HERE!
http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/HP-...c=AFFILIATES-_-Linkshare-_-lw9MynSeamY-_-10:1
Fact: an Ipad 2 was displayed running web os.
Fact: Honeycomb's newest edition supports the Qualcomm dual core inside the touchpad.
Fact: HP may unlock the touchpad per se, make it open source, who know's what is going to happen to it, but I know this:
Fact: the market is going to be FLOODED with these tablets, for $100 thats insanely cheap for a good email and browsing tablet that has enough speed for normal users. So, I say we spin this messy situation around and find out how doable this is, because if it isn't hard, then we could potentially have a nice honeycomb tablet with a capacitative screen, nice capacity and specs, for $88 dollars. This is insane and we should capitalize upon it!
even if nothing comes of this, I think it's worth the $88 to use as an internet slate and watching stuff on trips, soooo cheap. I mean hell I can buy a chinese android tablet that is 2.1 and has a piece of crap resistive screen for $200!! Not to mention the 416 mh processors they come with! Yuck.
For that price, I bought two touchpads. Hell I'd even use them as remote displays, computer monitor is 120 bucks...
Ok guys so I looked into it a bit, and honeycomb 3.2 is the iteration with snapdragon, the touchpad CPU, support. I know that Google has had honecomb down under lock, so I don't know whether we can get a 3.2 build without porting that as well. What's crucial here, is that the Viewsonic G-tablet, an originally Froyo device, is running Honeycomb thanks to XDA port-masters. We need to pull our resources with the G-tablet guys, the honeycomb chefs with the Xoom and Transformer, and most importantly, someone who can get us the Qualcomm supported Honeycomb 3.2! If someone could brave the bee stings and steal it from the hive(Google? ), we can get our delicious honeycomb all over our new.....Touchcomb? Honeypad? HP Combpad? I like Combpad, but maybe...Clonepad...Copypad....gotta get a catchy name for this bandwagon, I would love to see every touchpad ever made converted to honeycomb. Such a useful piece of hardware that HP paid $322 to manufacture...
That and if everyone gave their Touchpad android I'd be known as the guy at the top of a very tall hill who chucked a small ball hoping to watch it turn into boulder...to crush Appletown. Wouldn't it be awesome if everyone bought a touchpad for $88 this Christmas and slapped android it, that would piss off Steve Jobs.

I think I hear a Wii screaming in agony, because its graphics suck more than a $88 tablet! This Adreno chip even does surround sound with 1080p...Suck on that consoles

Honeycomb is complicated, because it's closed source.
But Gingerbread/Ice Cream Sandwich/even full GNU/Linux like Ubuntu should be quite easy (as long as bootloader isn't locked in any way - I'm uninformed on that matter).
We have kernels for practically identical SoCs available already (HTC Sensation/Evo 3D). Only a matter of time I dare to say.
with the update to webos 3.0.2 68, any potential issues that may affect the ability to install android.... From what i have read on the touchdroid wiki page it looks like the device is completely open. Can anyone confirm there was no protection added... Has anyone done the update yet?
I tweeted to rootzwiki to come join us. Told them we are following their project. Dunno if they'll join but would be nice if they did.

Well I think having Android 2.35 on the Touchpad should be officially here soon:

Mind you, Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich would provide a better experience.

If you pay close attention, the way he is holding the camera is not the same as what is on the screen, I personally, think he is just playing a fullscreen video, and almost touching the screen for what he does.

Thinking of getting an a500.

I was wondering how the scene is on the a500. I'm interested in one, but I know nothing about them to reallu distinguish what's what yet. Its pretty much between this, an xoom or the HP touchpad.
Sure this could be biased but I hope someone can offer me good advice based on knowledge not fan boys.
Can Netflix be played on all of those? Any other issues? I'd want to root whatever I get. I know HP TP isn't android.....yet

Well the HP is out of the question as it's been discontinued. The Xoom is more expensive and offers nothing the Acer doesn't; yet the Acer has Standard & Micro usb and better sound. There are others reasons but really with the choices you provided the choice is clear.
Well, my opinion, and I had the HP TouchPad, and now the Iconia, is to go with the Iconia. The HP fiasco has messed up webOS enough that everything done to it will be from the after market so to speak. Plus to get Android on it will take a long time. I had it for a month and just was not happy with it.
Now I have the Iconia and love it compared to any other tablet mainly because of all the accessory ports. Development with the Iconia is a little difficult as there are many versions because of the world distribution. But the Roms seem to be multilanguage.
I don't now much about the Zoom but I have read complaints about it. Mainly expandability.
Short opinion, but hope it helps somewhat.
Yeah I have a 3.41 fw jailbroke ps3 that I'm looking to trade. They guy with the Acer said he rather get money than trade. I have someone offering a 32gb HP TP. So yeaH. Supposedly they are close to getting cm on the TP.

[Q] Web OS - Open Source

HP have just announced that their making WebOS Open Source, recon we'll ever see it now?
Hoping so! I have a little HP Veer that I mess around with and really like WebOS...
I hope so as well! I have a Touchpad, and I wouldn't mind seeing WebOS on my HD2 as well.
I too would love to see this. I had my doubts about WebOS until I got a TouchPad during the firesale. Now I really wish I had WebOS on my phone.
edit: i'd also like to mention that I'd be more than willing to donate to such a project!
I've been waiting for web os to appear on my hd2 for years! Can't wait!
Someone on xda or precentral must be capable. I did see it shown on an evo 3d.... finally some android competition!

HP to make WebOS open source

I'm sure everyone has read this. Thought I would share. I've played around on an HP Touchpad and I really like WebOS from what I've saw so far.

No one likes that crappy OS.....open sourced or not, is not going to matter!
It would be nice to have it integrated into android. Webos has some cool features that would look good on android. With it being open source i see people porting things over
I think that if some really good devs get their hands on the source code they might make it what it was intended to be all along. I think that webOS never experienced its full capacity because it didn't attract the pockets of major investors, but that can change.
Never underestimate anyone... or even more, Anything...
I hope its ported. Just another reason to feed my addiction to flashing roms haha
Let's go Mountaineers. Beat the hell out of Pitt.
so, a guy has cobbled together a pretty pre-pre-pre-alpha monstrosity and slapped it into the evo 3d.
http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/9/2...r-htcs-evo-3d-a-proof-of-concept-for-the-time
i'm switching to verizon once the nexus is released, so my evo will turn into more of a toy/media device, and i think i'd really love to play around with webos on a huge evo screen.
am i alone on this one? or is anybody else out there plotting and scheming about how to shoehorn it into our previous evos?
I personally enjoy webos. If it only had the support that Android or ios has (apps wise) then I believe it can be a real competitor in the near future. Would be dope if the Evo gets a port
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Would be very interesting. There are quite a few very nice functional and visual to WebOS, be great to just get certain parts of it, I don't really want a full port(besides to play around with), but just some of its features and effects would be nice to integrate into a ROM. Def with ICS.
I personally love web os it has many great features but I'm confused when palm owned it I thought it was open source I remember hearing Ruby talk about how great that was. Why did HP close it in the first place. I mean I might be wrong so please if I am school me

I don't remember really. In my limited time using the touchpad (i refuse to buy one for myself since it's been dumped) I've loved it. It's really simple to use and has some cool features. I'd like to see it running on this huge EVO screen also!

Wat? I'm going to venture a guess here that you've never used it. It's far from crappy. The failure was the devices it was placed on and their prices. WebOS wasn't the problem.
