That is not the successor to the Galaxy Tab 10.1, its is the 10.1 inch version of the Galaxy Tab 2. Its just really confusing naming used.
It is a low/mid end device and the Galaxy Note 10.1 will be high end.

Let's just hope the galaxy note 10.1 comes with Samsung's Exynos quad-core chips

I think it has gsm calling functions that we miss but it lacks (gyroscope , flash in camera , 2mp front camera , and thicker and heavier ) , may be we could benifit from a port for its rom , it is packed with many useful apps

I'm kind of hoping this is the case but I cannot find any supporting information, albeit at this early stage. I suspect it may not, while GSM calling capabilities will be offered on the 10.1 Note as one point of differentiation, allowing Samsung to position the 10.1. Note somewhat above the new 10.1 Tab2?
Are there any details you have which lead you to believe GSM calling may be an option on the new 10.1 Tab2?

If a forum full of us nerds (or half nerds) can't figure out Samsung's lineup then they are in a lot of trouble. The galaxy 2 10.1 is not our 10.1's successor. Its a 10" version of the new normal galaxy tab. I believe our tabs successor will be called so something else. The dual core 1ghz processor in the galaxy 2 seems like a step back. There's no way a fatter, slower version of our 10.1 can be the next iteration. But the fact that we have to argue about what is what does not bode well for their marketing strategy. Fix your **** Sammy.

Here's a better question... Anyone know where the "water" wallpaper is on the screenshots? I'm digging it!

OK, thanks, I see that...
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_2_10_1-4567.php
"Tablet with support for GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS."
That would represent a significant benefit over the original 3G Tab 10.1, so now I am wondering if there is new hardware in the Tab2, or maybe the Tab2 ICS ROM might somehow retroactively activate this feature in (3G) versions of the original Tab 10.1.
It's early, and these products have not even been officially launched but my understand now is that there are two new 10" tablet products:
1.) Tab2 10.1
2.) Note 10.1
How these are ultimately positioned with respect to each other, and any previous version(s), remains to be seen/heard, I guess.

OK so after seeing the Galaxy Note 10.1 it is not the successor to our Tab 10.1, but the the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 certainly isn't either. I'm thinking they will have something new for us at their Galaxy SIII conference whenever that is.

Samsung Hinting at Galaxy Note Plus

Sammy says it's shopping the new processor around to other handset manufacturers (like Meizu), noting that the Exynos 4 Quad is pin-to-pin compatible with the Exynos 4 Dual (the brains behind the Galaxy S II and Note), which gives designers the ability to update product designs with minimal costs.

EDIT: Could it be that T-mo, Sprint, and Verizon were waiting for this? Should be interesting to see what is revealed May 3.
T-Mo's version is almost surely going to be a rebadged I717.
As to a Note Plus - I'd have to look through the I9100 update4 defconfigs again but no evidence of a Note Plus. However there's clear evidence of an S2 Plus - https://github.com/Entropy512/kernel_galaxys2_ics/blob/master/arch/arm/configs/s2plus_defconfig and also that one of the upcoming devices (identified as c1 - which USED to be the identifier for the Galaxy S II, but that was renamed to u1 with ICS) is for Verizon - https://github.com/Entropy512/kernel_galaxys2_ics/blob/master/arch/arm/configs/c1vzw_00_defconfig
Possible, I s'pose.
Didn't a few carriers receive Galaxy S "plus" iterations as recently as late 2011?

Nope, just altered versions. SGH-I777 and SPH-D710 were marketed as the Galaxy S II, the GT-I9100P was marketed as "Galaxy S II NFC" or maybe just as Galaxy S II.
LTE-enabled Qualcomm-based mangled devices were also released and had the Galaxy S II name applied:
SGH-I727 (Skyrocket)
SGH-T989 (not LTE, but 42 Mbps HSPA+ enabled - T-Mobile S II)
SGH-I717 (AT&T Note)
Nothing has been marketed as an "S II Plus" yet.
i wouldn't doubt it. its hard trying to stay updated with their latest devices. what have so many multiple versions? just create a phone that works around globe on all carriers. done.

North American carriers suck.
Well it could be the rumored Galaxy Journal, which I wouldn't mind since my work account is with Sprint, although carrying 2 Notes (one on Straight Talk and another on Sprint) would be weird.

No its not because if the Apple Suite if that was case no update would have been release and no we are not going to get 4.2 as we already have 4.1.1 updates rolling out and thats what we all will get
Well that is pretty disappointing to hear. Samsung have been pushing the note10.1 here in the UK recently with a big advertising campaign, I really can't see why they would be updating older products first.
Um you guys are aware that the 8000 JB OTA'S being released already work just fine with some minor fixable glitches on everything else right?

I agree. People may also see that the tab 2 is a second generation of the tab and think it is the superior product. Not everyone is tech savvy. I personally think Samsung is prepping a Note 2 10.1 to be announced in January that'll come preloaded with Jelly Bean. We may not see an official JB until then.
That's what my money is on. They just don't care about existing customers.

The Note 10.1 was introduced in August so there won't be another until next year. This is what Samsung does also with Galaxy S series, Note etc. Sorry for saying but there is no need to become paranoid due to the delay.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Photo Leaked (Samsung Galaxy S Tab)

We know that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is more or less confirmed, although official photos of the device and its official specs have yet to be announced. However thanks to the folks at SamMobile, they have received a couple of photos which according to the person who sent them in, are that of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Plus. The tipper went on to claim that instead of calling it the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus, Samsung will instead rename it to the Samsung Galaxy S Tab, and will be banking on the success of the Galaxy S-line of smartphones and will apparently be marketing it in a similar fashion as well.
The alleged leaked photo looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, albeit with different placement of the home button. Then again this could be the design language Samsung is adopting for its products, so it wouldn’t be a complete shocker. As for its specs, these are the rumored specs of the tablet for those who are curious. It will apparently come with an Exynos 5410 Octa chipset, 2GB of RAM, a 9,000mAh battery, a 10.055” display with 2560×1600 resolution (300PPI), an 8MP camera, Full HD video capture, and will come with microSD card support. No mention of which version of Android it will be running on.(probable 4.1.2 or 4.2.2)
