Missing Enter key on Fire soft keyboard

I think Amazon really blew it by forgetting to include an Enter key on the Kindle Fire's soft keyboard. Many apps require it and by bastardizing the standard Android keyboard sets, Amazon is shooting itself in the foot, as this reduces the number of Android apps that can run on the Fire.
I know I quickly replaced it with Swype but doesn't the one key, lower right bottom row one in from end, change to a check mark and behave like the enter key? It will say search when you're on a search field but still behaves like the enter when you're in search fields. Or am I completely mid-remembering?

Thats the behavior I have witnessed, bsoplinger.

i even downloaded/installed alternative keyboard but i dont understand how to enable it so i can actually use it...
Enter changes with the environment. In market I think it says search, others say go.

Pressing Buttons accidentaly while taking Notes

I had a demo of the Note a few days back, and i was simply unable to take notes/use S-Memo without accidentally touching the below capacitive buttons. Hence, every few words i write i hit the buttons!
I experimented for 10minutes but was not able to get hang of it.... Any way to disable capacitive buttons while taking notes OR does this even happen to you guys ?
Lemme know your views....
PS: I also found lags while writing
For the buttons I write in landscape mode.
The lag is obviously software fixable in future updates, since when you use the S mémo (hold Spen button and double tap on screen) ,which is basically a lighter coded Spen app, the writing is lagfree and seamless...
I find it very annoying as well. If you could rotate the screen 180 degrees it would solve the problem, I think.
I found an app "Orientation Control" by "Coin Soft" which offers multiple orientations rather than auto rotate.
Using the "reverse portrait" option solves the capacitive button option but the writing appears slightly offset (down) from where it should.
Frustrating!

Yup, sure.
I found that after upgrading firmware via kies to 2.3.6 the s-memo no longer goes 'back' while writing on the pad. I deliberately tried to press back button when writing on the memo to test it. Only when you stop writing and lift pen or finger away from the screen, the back button can be pressed.
A particular app dev who has created an app for replacing the s-memo didn't agree with me on this. So I think other guys may not agree as well. I don't know, is the version different in different countries? I'm in India.

[Q] how to stop auto rotate landscape portrait

is there any way to stop auto rotate between landscape and portrait?
Yes all you have to do is press the cog or the gear looking button in the top right hand corner then all the way to the left side the 1st button it says unlock or locked depending if its already unlocked. press the button so it displays unlock this States that's its in the lock position set it to any you want then lock it

S-Pen Screen Write Option is Not Working!?!?

I have tried everything I know. I pull the S-Pen out and the Menu pops up. I hover over the Screen Write option and click the button on the S-Pen and the menu leaves but the phone does not perform the screen shot. I have also held the tip of the pen while holding the button the S Pen on the screen for 3 secs and nothing. I can screen shot by sliding my hand across the screen. All the other S-Pen options work. So, I think I have narrowed the problem to the phone not doing the screen shot after the Screen Write option is selected. My S Pen options are:
Pen detachment options: Air Command
Direct pen input ON
Pointer ON
Any help would be great, thanks!
hold the pen button lower the pen to touch the screen release the button..

Probably not related but, have you installed the Samsung keyboard update? My handwriting recognition wasn't working until I installed it.

Thoughts about relocation of capacitive buttons

So I am considering moving from the original Note 10.1 to the 12.2. To me one of the issues I see is the relocation of the capacitive buttons.
I am curious do you find it cumbersome to have to find the buttons each time? It just seems odd to have them hard set to the button no matter the orientation. Any thoughts would be helpful.
I haven't wanted to use it in portrait at all, so it hasn't been a problem for me, but if you ended up being irritated by it, you could install Button Savior (there is a non-root version available) and have some virtual buttons you could use for easier access.

I've been using button savior since I read about it the other day in a similar thread, and it works pretty well. I will probably root soon and use lmt, which I used on my 2012 note 10 and really loved it. Also I will need to root if I want to shut off the built in capacitive buttons, which I am pretty sure I do...
One of the thing I like about lmt versus button savior is that BS needs two taps or a swipe and a tap tonselect the button you want, where lmt is a single directed swipe.

There is also gesture control , like with this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol (root required)
