INSTALLATION
-first take a full nandroid backup !
-First time installing this rom = wipe all , factory reset , format and make sure to format flexrom!!!
-flash rom first with cwm or RA recovery
-Reboot and do your settings.
-Now you can use the Aroma packages or mods
If you got problems please before posting them do the following.
Performe a REAL format....
here's how to on cwm:
go to in recovery enter "Backup and Restore" and click on "Toggle backup and restore of internal storage (/data/media)"

The SOD timeout period is around 2-3 seconds. So don't turn the screen off because as soon as you do you have to hard reboot. Going back to honeycomb as i presumed timeout would be ALOT longer than 2-3 seconds. Good work though, will monitor this thread very closely waiting for fix.

looking at the leak thread this might not be long...

I have enough faith a fix will be along soon that I'm sticking with this rom.... Aside from the sod its perfect and runs fast as anything, I just won't turn off my screen till I'm ready to shut down.
Great work!

And people wonder why all of our devs are leaving. You people are retarded, and should be ashamed of yourselves for not reading the damn threads before posting. Between this and the morons spamming Vache's thread with "ZOMG GUYS IT HANGS AT THE ACER SCREEN HELP!" its amazing anyone wants to make roms for this tablet. Read or dont freaking post.

wow lets test this

let me try this
waiting for it so long

I knew it wasn't working when flashing... what is it that I didn't read before posting? Not positive but I'm pretty sure posts involving swearing and ignorance do a better job of keeping the devs out than posts thanking them...
Plus... this was started, in my understanding, to keep unneeded posts our of the dev thread for the leak. This is to discuss the test rom made by the great efforts if vache and richardtrip...
Sorry I'm done with my little rant, just can't stand unnecessary ignorance.

Kernel section
THESE KERNELS CAN BE USED ON FLEXREAPER-...., FLEX-Ressurrection and RE-FLEXxx
Source by Acer and thank you "ezterry" , couldn't have done the patching without you teaching me and giving me your time.
Installation: flash with cwm or RA recovery , but please also put the stock version on your tablet so you can flash back if you have problems
From 15-Sep-2012 these kernels work only on FLEXREAPER-ReliX-GT & RE-FLEXxx-ShellSHOCK :
The reason for this is Flexrom installation is changed on rom installation, this was done for the nandroid backup support from terminal. For this ramdisk of kernel had to change.
Flexrom(vendor) still excist it is just the way it is installed and running.
ICS bootloader users ONLY:
Stock-Kernel_Acer-Relix_GT-&-RE-FLEXxx_ShellSHOCK (no overclocking)
ezterry kernels for ICS bootloader users:

Sorry for mucking up your thread with bickering... comment rubbed me the wrong way this morning.
Anyways this leak runs awesome if you use the wake lock app Richard suggested... noticed the distorted boot screen stays up longer if you use a custom boot animation... but that's neither here nor there. Doesn't effect operation obviously.

camera performence is better tahn 3.0.2 and also video playing is improved without installing codecs or players.
thaks for sleep fix ,,, great work

As mentioned it is okay flashing with CWM 1.6, but has anyone tried flashing this with Ra Recovery?
Thanks

Front facing camera
Hi.
I don't know if it is just my unit, but after installing the leaked ICS ROM, the front facing camera seems to be out of order.
And after launching an app that tries to connect to the front facing camera, the camera on the back stop working too. Until I restart the unit
Anyone else experiencing problems with the front facing camera?

[OBSOLETE] Great Combo For Galaxy Ace

This is a list of Galaxy Ace ROM, kernel, and tweaks that (when combined) will make your Ace run blazingly fast!
Tested by me.
I'm not responsible if your Ace went wrong. Make a backup first.
Before we start, make sure you have backup for your important data and applications.
Best ROM
Not sure which is the best ROM, it's relative. So far, for stock ROM lovers you can use Blackhawk ROM by ketut.kumajaya
Best Kernel
CF-Root for S5830. I have no comments. An amazing kernel.
Best RAM Tweak (for stock ROMs without CF-Root only)
Juwe's RAM optimization script. It's working fine on Ace, but the boot time will take longer than usual.
Best Animation Tweak (will smoothen animations on stock XXKPH ROM and activate CRT animation on coderom)
Not sure who share this tutorial, but you will get smooth animations after you have applied this tweak. Using Root Explorer, mount /system/ to RW, edit build.prop, find debug.hw, add a hash "#" before it. Save and reboot. Original post here.
For the best result: make sure you have activate a2sd and convert filesystem to ext4 using ext4 Manager (available through CF-Root) and do NOT apply Conservative Gov (when applied, it will save battery life but will slow down performance)
Okay, that's all.
Please report to me if you get something wrong so I can revise this thread.
I was gonna install coderom for the reboot button feature (on phone options), but the link was down.
Please add this: enabling crt on gingerbread rom by adding a hash (#) to debug.hw in build.prop smoothen everything a lot, especially popups.
XDA ♥
- XXKPH
- Easy Deodex + Root (XDA)
- Zipalign on boot setting from A2SD GUI
- CF -Root updated to b78
- update to CWM 4.0.0.9
- Internal memory converted to ext 4 (by ext4 manager)
- set tweaks => default (no checked list)
thats great combine! i've used this...
very smoothly guys...
thanks, just flash up the RAM optimizer with CWM~

Hi fla.sh,
I don't think anyone will go wrong when they have great combo like this. I have all of them in my SGA. (Of course with CRT as mentioned by consegregate)
Now my ace runs very smoothly.
Hey, if I apply the ram optimization... how do I get to the original configuration? A flash of the kph rom (the one i have) would be enough?
I'd say just deleting the script file should be enough.
And lol that's exactly what I have on my Ace. Plus the CRT animation.

Hi,
I have this question for you... Do I need to install everything in the post CF-Root for S5830 like CF root manager, Tweak, EXT4 Manager etc., or just the below mentioned part is enough?
I just flashed this part to my SG Ace.
Instructions (long)
- Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Unzip CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b78.zip
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN v4.38
- Click the OPS button, and select Cooper_v1.0.ops
- Click the PDA button, and select CODE_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03-CF-Root-v3.7-b78.tar.md5
- Put your phone in download mode
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
I tried Quardant after installing this Kernel which gave me 1043 (sdcard class 2) which is as equal to what I got before without this kernel. What is your thought?
Quadrant won't show any difference until you convert your system to ext with the exr4 manager.

Hi All,
I have an issue (may be not), I haven't installed the DT a2sd addon from this thread as I already run on coderom Nexus which has DT a2sd. I entered into Terminal and typed SU and then a2sd repair. After boot I saw i have only 24MB as EXT4 in a2sd GUI and Dalvik cache moved back to internal memory, but I created 2GB as EXT4 while partition which still appears in my Titanium backup. Did I do anything wrong? Which app is correct? Please help. I have uploaded screenshots from both apps.

[DEPRECATED][SCRIPT]g_BonE's Slaid480 LagFreeV3 ReRolled -errorfixed- -optimized-

I switched to a I9001 Galaxy S Plus, thus no more updates.
About
If You are like me - a fan of those monolithic install-and-forget scripts to optimize Your Ace at boot then this is for You.
As a base i took Slaid480's LagFreeV3 script and fixed some errors in it. Seeing that his script constantly overwrites earlier tweaks set up in itself i went on to consolidate it.
After that turned out succesful i combed through all the other scripts, snippets and tweaks floating around XDA (TurboBoostv8.5, BoostBuster, allinone Ram) and came up with my solution of a monolithic All-In-One script.
This here script contains all the useful tweaks for the Ace, was error checked, optimized and thoroughly tested on my personal Ace.
This is a continuation of the thread:
[SCRIPT] Slaid480's LagFree V3 script -fixed- -optimized-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486930&page=11
Required
* Ace S5830
* Root
* CM7.x
* Busybox (should already be there if rooted)
* Kernel supporting NOOP scheduler and SmartA**V2 governor
Script was tested on:
zImage-Mod v1.1 and v1.2 Kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1292200
CM7.2 RC0 KANG by vo-1 deodexed with PDroid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462178
Instructions
- Make a nandroid of Your phone (just in case).
- Flash zip using CWM recovery.
- Reboot.
- Success.
An optional error logging function can be enabled by creating an empty
file named lagfree_debug in Your /data/ folder. Doing so will allow the
script to create a logfile /data/lagfree_debug.log during execution on
boot. This might help for finding issues on other ROMs and Kernels.
The script now contains some logic so when it does not succesfully run
to its end it will disable itself on the next boot. This will fix the "stuck
on android" issue.
To remove the script alltogether just flash the LagFreeV3_Rerolled_
Uninstaller.zip via CWM.

Changelog
0.17b - first release in XDA Development subforum, replaces older version --- REMOVED DUE TO setprop ISSUE!!!
0.23b - second release, replaces older version: setprop slot fix and bootloop (stuck on android) fix implemented. Thanks to tossan, iandol, _Roysten and dragonnn for the detective work and help getting this fixed.
Now, thank you! And why is it that we need CM7? Isn't this supposed to run on stock roms (rooted of course, and with cf-root kernel)?
WAIT so is this the combination of the given tweaks in OP or just fixed Lagfree? Kinda confusing O.O
original lagfreev3 runs great on stock with all permissions checked. Is this for stock also?

if you consider "runs great" to mean that it fails to run properly because it has more bugs than the Amazon Jungle and thus it can run "great" anywhere because it actually fails to run everywhere!!!

actually no need to uninstall, the installer of my script removes the original lagfreev3, turboboost and other scripts from init.d

Wait awhile and see if the desktop loads. I guess it takes time to rebuild the caches.
@g_BonE
You sholdn't clean up the caches (especially the *.apk files) on every reboot (->Dalvik Optimization).
The user can do it manually in CWM. This is only necessary before installing a custom rom or after modding some system files.
Otherwise: Great clean up work done! Hope all the script lovers appreciate it. Here are the line counts as a rough comparision:
Code:
[email protected]:~/Downloads/$ wc -l S9*
1130 S95Lagfree
305 S99_LFv3gB
1435 total
^^
@DooAce: I cant positively answer on the "working on stock" question as idont have a stock rom on my ace. i'd say it *should* if the rom has init.d support and the other requirements posted in the first post. anyone willing to give it a shot might do so using the debug feature and posting the logfile here so i can have a look.
@tossan: yes, i'll make the zipaligning a optional step, maybe using the same approach i took with the debug option (-soon-)
@tomy2590: and yes, first boot will take a while as zipaligning and database optimization takes a while. please be patient for a bit.
Doesn't work on Ace-of-Spades V1 - stuck on Android for over 20 minutes.
I have debug this script - don't know why but it's stuck on the setprop lines, removing it will repair this script. You can add on the begin of this script the command:
Code:
adbd &
And on the end:
Code:
killall adbd
Using this you can debug this script (via logcat) in real time and show on what he stops.

I'm referring to this line at the end of the file, which will be executed on every phone reboot, making the dalvik cache unusable.
Code:
rm -f /data/dalvik-cache/*.apk
The zipaligning should be ok, because the code fragment only zipaligns new installed apks, if they're not already aligned.

If I am not wrong the 14-5-12 link from vo-1 is an an update version and not the full version. I may be wrong but the link clearly states "update" at the beginning. Rom size is also point to that direction as full vo-1's versions are normally over 90MB. So probably you based your rom on the update version (to be flashed over previous one) and not the full. I may be wrong again, but I doubt it!

[DD method]:
You need to root your phone first.
What is ROOT? HOW TO?
Google will answer you. :l
1. Download kernel zips from #3 post
2. Extract kernel.bin.md5 from zips
3. Copy kernel.bin.md5 to somewhere you like (e.g. /sdcard)
4. Open Terminal app,use these commands
Now lets go to superuser mode
su

Click to collapse
Now lets flash(dd) kernel to kernel partition
dd if=/sdcard/kernel.bin.md5 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p15
Click to collapse
5. Reboot to take effects
reboot
Click to collapse
* If you type a wrong dd command,it might hard birck your phone
So please think twice before hit enter
* It is recommended that check the md5 of kernel.bin.md5
If it doesnt match 'md5.txt' in zips, dont flash to phone.
Please re-download zips
[TWRP method]:
If you dont have TWRP recovery, please flash kernel.bin.md5 first.
Press Vol.Up + Home + Power to go to cwm.
Then choost zips in external sdcard to flash.
How to check md5 on phone?
Open Terminal app (Please install busybox first )
'cd' to the folder(e.g. /sdcard) where has the file
cd /sdcard
Click to collapse
Now get the md5
busybox md5sum -t kernel.bin.md5 >> out.txt
Click to collapse
Now check the md5 manually
HOW TO
Here are some intructions/tips about how to play with the kernel.
Terminal is needed.
If you want to change the values,it needs su permission.
If you get 'Permisson denied',you need su permisson.
( Boot time )
How to check the boottime?
cat /d/boottime/summary

( Init.d script )
Please install busybox in system first
I recommend you install busybox via apps
Create a new folder named 'init.d' in /system/etc
Set the permisson of init.d foler to 0777(rwxrwxrwx) (at least has read and exec permission)
Set the owner to 0.0 (root root)
Put some scripts (any name you like) in init.d folder with permisson 0777 (rwxrwxrwx) (at least has read and exec permission)
Scripts with right permisson will be runned when system boots.
( Real charged notification )
Well, please let me call it notification.
To be honest,it needs to check manually.
cat /sys/module/abb_chargalg/parameters/eoc_status
Click to collapse
* You can use Rootexplorer to view this file.
* When it says "First full charging reached",then the UI should show you charged 100%
But it is not the real full charged.
* When it says it is the real full charged, you can unplug the charger.
* When you are charging and do a reboot will reset the counter.
* According to my experiments,it needs 1-2 hours to charge to real full.
( Sound control )
Please note that listening to too high volume music over 1 hour can damage your ears.
Or makes your speaker/headset overload.
Volume control only can increase headset volume.
To enable: (default: disable) (0=disable 1=enable)
echo 1 > /sys/module/snd_soc_ab8500_audio/parameters/hsx_boost

SD Maid's BusyBox must be used by other apps. After installing BusyBox, Universal Kernal Flasher stopped working and gave an error that BusyBox bin could not be found. I got UKF to work again by wiping data/uninstalling/re-installing. All is good now.

SD Maids busybox is located at /data/data/eu.thedarken.sdm/files/busybox
It is very unlikely that other apps use it. They could if they want, but why would they?
Also it is not a full busybox, it just contains a set of applets necessary for SD Maid to work.

I dont know but you can try
Try:
Flash the ROMs
Flash kernel
If you get Unknown Baseband
Flash modem via Odin
Check the cpu load...(if it goes high then the ROM is incompatible)

-libncurses.so (Stock version only).
Compatibility :
- This package will work with all android devices that have init.d support!
- Fly-On Mod works with Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, but in Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean ADJ Values are hard coded into the services.jar or .odex, that's why for Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean you will need a patched services.jar, you can follow this great guide by zeppelinrox (thanks to him): Click here.
- You can also use Fly-On Mod with V6 SuperCharger. (If you didn't flash the ram_manager config)
- The ram_manager configs are for phones with 512MB RAM. (Lower and higher than that too)
- If you have 1024MB/2048MB RAM use supercharger instead!
Important informations :
About RAM managers :
+ Balanced version, is for people with moderate apps use.
+ Gamers version, is for people playing HD/3D games.
+ Multitasking version, is for people that use a lot of apps at the same time.
+ Hard multitasking version, is for people with huge amount of apps running at the same time. (Very agressive values!)
+ Nexus version, contains values from Google source used in nexus devices.
Note also that:
- Multitasking version have lesser free ram than Balanced/Gamers/Nexus, but this thing doesn't mean they are the best, choose the ram config according to your use!
- Don't use any Task Killer with this Mod!
- Fly-On Mod main package comes with 2 different versions, CM version is for CyanogenMod ROMS and AOSP based ROMS (like AOKP), then stock version is for stock ROMS and custom ROMS based on stock!
- If you have bad battery life the problem is from an app waking your phone from sleep, it's not my script!
- Don't use Fly-On Mod with any other tweaking script as they will conflict!
- If you want to use Fly-On Mod in your ROM or your Mod ask for permissions first and give me credits!
- If you have any question ask me in the thread instead of PMs or I will not reply!
- Read well the thread before posting any newbie questions and do not ask for an already answered question!

If you liked this mod, please rate this thread to 5 stars and press the Thanks button and if it's possible buy a coffee for me,it will help me to work, support and keep this project up to date!
This Thread is reserved for sharing information about Scripts in Android and how they Tweak the Android system through the Linux kernel and what are requirements of Running Scripts correctly!
Main Goal of Scripts:
Well,Scripts Has a lot of Goals,Such as optimizing, improving and in Some Lines we can say,Scripts can:
-Improve Performance and GUI Smoothness
-Improve Battery Life
-Tweak and Optimize the Android engine!
Requirements of using Some Scripts:
Since Android is Based on Linux, there is a possibility to use Linux Scripts to attempt the Goals Listed before in the thread, and like any Tweak you want to Apply there is some requirements you need to Use correctly those Scripts and some of the mportanst are :
-Custom Kernel that support init.d(Custom Kernel=Modified Linux kernel, for example in GALAXY ACE Forums here we have:CF-Root-All CM kernels,etc...)
-Having ClockWorkMod 5 or above to Flash Scripts
-at Least 2 MB free in /system
-Root Access(BusyBox should be included)
Useful Info About Tweaks:
-LMK(LowMemoryKiller):
The LowMemoryKiller is a constant debate between more free RAM and more multitasking capabilities as free RAM (more than 60MB free) is actually wasted RAM.
The LowMemoryKiller is actually a feature in the Android OS for better memory management.
This is an important feature due to the perennial problem of having low free memory causing lagginess and slowness in launching apps. When you have free memory lingering around the number of 40MB or less, the Android OS just lags like hell.
What this would mean is, you would want to tweak the LMK to not have the situation of it having less than 40MB (or even close to that).
The modern Linux machine in the Android ecosystem relies on a mechanism called Low Memory Killer (LMK) to consistently free up RAM. This is due to Android's internal mechanism of caching apps (and never fully exiting them) when you press the back button. This is to enable faster app switching and provide a seamless experience for apps usage model. Android also, by itself will also constantly look for often used apps to cache them for faster app opening. This will happen even before your system fully boots.
Now, when you mention LMK, the most obvious thoughts that come up are minfrees and Out Of Memory (OOM) groupings. Yes, those two are integral parts when it comes to LMK. The issue here is that no one actually mentioned that there are two LMK systems in Android, that being:
- Linux LMK
- Android Dalvik VM LMK
Journaling/Barriers:
This has been a touchy subject here in XDA for most people who debate about it. Most recently,Some Scripts included a way to disable journaling on these partitions:
/system (System is read only, it's safe to remove journaling. However, you will not see speed increase by removing it as you're not writing onto /system 99.99% of the time unless you're using Titanium backup to remove system apps or copying init.d scripts to it)
/cache (Cache can be rebuilt on the fly. Data corruption on it is not game breaking)
/data (All of your data on your phone is here. Removing journaling can risk data corruption. Read more below)
On whether we need journaling or not, I will pose this situation:
Journaling is required to maintain data consistency in events that could lead to data corruption. Data could get corrupted in a number of situations:
- Misbehaving app that constantly writes without syncing/committing data to the disk
- Power loss due to forced reboots or bootloops when data is partially written/committed into disk
Memory Leaks
If you found out that your Android is laggy after sometime and a reboot will make it faster, then you're experiencing memory leaks. "free" is a command to show your currently free memory. It will not necessarily be the same value as your phone's free memory.
Busybox
Well,Busybox is required to perform all of your superuser activities in your android phone. There are some problems associated with this when ROM developers decide to use a certain version of Busybox that are incompatible with the binaries that we use in our phones. When you found out that after changing your kernel/ROM:
- You still have superuser and Titanium Backup still works but, Root Explorer/File Expert can't copy files correctly to the /system after mounting R/W!!
MinFree:
Minfree is part of the Kernel (present on both Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich) and It an Option available in Linux kernel Optimized for Android to Improve MultiTasking and It differs from a Phone to another because of the RAM available in users space.
The Minfree is hopefully adjustable Like the LMK to optimize Multitasking to a lot of options(like:aggressive,gaming,balanced,etc...)
The Minfree Option can be Found as a part of Linux Scripts for better RAM management!
Network Tweaks:
Well,in Linux Scripts for Android you can find some Tweaks that increase the speed of you Network Download/Upload and those with various types of Netwoks Like 3G,Wi-Fi,etc...
Build.Prop Tweaks
Well, those Tweaks can generally be found in Build.prop in /system and they are for various improvements Such as allowing Phone to Sleep better, changing wi-fi scan interval, changing window animation delay, some network Tweaks, possibility to change density,etc...
SD Card Speed Fix:
This is a Tweaks that Has the goal of increasing the read-ahead speed of your SD Card, and that by changing the valories of SD card readahead Like:
-256kb
-512kb

Thank you for the support !
Testing!!!!
I am testing ur scripts on ULTIMATUM ROM by following your instructions and removing all default scripts of /system/etc/init.d
and now its not booting
might be because it has int2ext
so it obviously wont boot
Sent from my S500 using xda app-developers app
Dont use too many script ..just check the init.d folder there are already plenty of scripts in there ...
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
It works with int2ext?
Compatibility:
Fly-On Mod works with GB/ICS/JB But in ICS/JB Min-free and LowMemoryKiller options are not working, because in ICS/JB android OS set Min-free/LMK values to the default after Booting,so 05Lagfixer script will not work for ICS/JB.

Too bad, on JB this script (fly on mod) has very little impact !

If you want total effect on ICS/JB you will need to patch services.jar like mentionned in SuperchargerV6 !
My battery life boosted like hell
