[I9000] CNA 1.4.0 UNOFFICIAL nightly build [2/03][dead] - Galaxy S I9000 General

6/03 : Official topic has been opened
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23319217
Get your latest CNA fix there.
This topic is now officially (get it?) dead.
Since no official topic for CNA 1.4.0 has opened, I want to share their latest build.
It has the fixed RIL issues many are looking for.
I do not claim any involvement in the development of the ROM, I'm just a guy who setup a build environment, downloaded the source code and compiled.
As such : treat it as a NIGHTLY, this is NOT an official release so expect no support from me or the devs.
It's just a basic compile so be sure to know EXACTLY what you're doing before flashing.
Code:
ro.build.date=Tue Feb 21 18:26:48 CET 2012
ro.modversion=Codename-Android-(MOD)-1.4.0-GalaxyS
I can recommend flashing another kernel as the original had a tendency to bootloop in the past. But you don't need to listen to me of course.
21/2: http://www.mediafire.com/?rbbh36drchehigt
Edit: Apparently it also has the external SD card fix
26/2: I noticed several changes in their code: mostly kernel, bin, xbin. I compiled again. I'm running the default kernel for now.
http://www.mediafire.com/?81ciaepocyo6wp6
27/2: I've flashed another kernel as the included one caused a dialer wakelock, draining the battery, as well as two reboots.
2/03 : Uploaded another compile
http://www.mediafire.com/?lp54q6x6lkhzf3u
This could be the last one if I read the grapevine correctly.

you mean this is the "official" CNA from codenameandroid himself? :-D

You're a legend man. This rom is now perfect!
***Trusty old SGS1 running CNA ICS and Devil kernel 1.1BFS***

Is it DaxIΠFIΠITY ROM or someone else?

This has nothing to do with the Asnet release right? It was stopped because it contained a pay-app.
I want to try this one, but only if I harm nobody's income.
Benjamin

Same procedure as usual?
Which kernel is included here?
1) wipe cache & data/factory reset
2) flash zip
3) reboot phone and wipe again?
Im coming from GB 2.3.3.. cheers

Yes, don't forget gapps.
Nandroid first !
As far as I know, the kernel is the standard CM9 one.
But you may want to try another ICS rom from in the development section first...

I upgraded from Dax' release to this one without wipe and everything works fine.
RIL and external SD card issues have been solved.
The only thing that didn't work (didn't show up in the app list) was the Galaxy S Settings (AriesParts.apk), so I copied the one from Dax to /system/app and then it worked.

Thanks again for compiling this for us. Everything seems to work including Wi-Fi tethering solo!
Was wondering if you could use this commit to compile a deep idle top-OFF modded framework-Res.
https://github.com/peteralfonso/platform_vendor_pete/commit/a19d2a56ccf07b9ab53a44b7ba5605a1aaffd9e6
Unlike the other ICS ports this one seems to work glitch free. I was using this one on the previous 1.4 build with amazing success but it isn't compatible with this rom... Not 100% sure that commit is in this modded framework sorry.

I897UCJJ4 Kernel w/CWM, Custom bootani, User Scripts

This is based off of the new Froyo I897UCJJ4 leak.
Pre-Cog-Kernel - I am building a multi stage kernel so I can include all of the goodies like Atinm and Supercurio have done. (not very fun, multistage is lame!)
Changelog:
ClockWordMod Recovery (thanks to Atinm)
---Fixed /tmp not mounting
---Replace recovery binary with one from the market (Atinm added in some menu options that I deleted binaries for to save space)
Custom boot animations (/system/media/bootanimation.zip)
---Properly moved up the int list so there is no delay
User Scripts (/system/etc/init.d)
Removed FM Radio module and int code (it's useless)
This allows for nandroid backups and flashing anything you want!
Known Issues:
If you do a factory reset you will have to flash the stock recovery so it can set things up again.

The 4.2.2 GAPPs package
A question for you, where did you learn to build ROMs for the HP touchpad? I've been googleing how to set up a build environment on Ubuntu, which I've nearly completed but then all guides on building cm10.1 (for example) only cover supported devices of which the Touchpad isn't.... I can't find much with Google at least on Touchpad specific ROM building.

This is hands down the best guide for setting up your build environment. Its okay to be on 13.04 as well, you might just have some unmet dependantcies you need to install. You'll likely be told you are holding broken packages and will need to meet the dependencies before you can install the other packages.
sudo apt-get install gcc
sudo apt-get install g++
After following that guide you should be set up to build.
Building for unsupported devices depends on the ROM you are trying to create. Basically you just need to follow the file paths in your local repository until you find something out of place or missing, then fix it.
You can see my githib at github.com/cdmoncrieff where you can see some of the commits I made to build for AOKP to get an idea of the process. There is also a short build-instructions repo with a few details of the process for 4.2.2. If you have any questions, which if you are going to try building, I will be glad to help
I still need more posts before links, here's another!
OK that's great I will take a look, the main problem for me at the moment is time. I'm currently using Ubuntu 12.10 I'm hoping to at least compile cm9 or cm10 to start with as they are pretty much fully operational. SGA's efforts with 4.2 and yours have inspired me to have ago. I guess the battery life is the main item that needs work in 4.2.2 and working out how to get Bluetooth working. What are your plans? Do you intend to try to improve on the current builds?

I've looked at your github and there are some useful changes in there I may move over to my rom. I just started getting phantom touches in one corner so I'll try out the ts_srv.c change. I might try the system tunings to system.prop, why did you choose those changes?
Why did you disable backuptool in tenderloin_ota_from_target_files? It is what keeps your gapps when you flash. Does it cause you some problems? I find it works just fine.
good job on the rom.
By the way, the camera driver is consuming lots of power (90mA sleep) so I reverted those three commits. The camera doesn't work but I'm down to 19 and I hope to get back to 4. (it's in my new branch c10.1, I'm still new at git so I left my old tree with camera for those who want it and a new tree with it reverted for me.)
Keep up the good work.

- google search has to be installed manually (look for 4.0.xxxxxx version)
- if calendar problems, needs to be wiped cache via CWM again (it helped to me)
Mirror? Will mirror the rom when finished downloading. Just takes alot of time...

Don't know why to keep two threads....
Anyway, that Root tool has a different kernel, right? No more Dr. TARDIS from Nexus 4?
I don't know how it work, I have no PC now and i can't check it, but on russian forum 4pda say that it work perfectly

I guess that works, thank you anyway.
Hmmm. The rom works flawlessly, apart from Bluetooth audio. Music plays in slow motion and off-key, with stuttering.
I tried fixing it myself, but I absolutely don't know what I'm doing. I tried replacing all libaudio.so's with the ones from a working CM11 rom, but that only caused a bootloop
Does anyone know where to find the original author's (Ivan) thread? I really can't wait for the next update...
3rdOS.com i suppose... ?

Rastapop test release and Rastapop discussion

Coming very soon, to the Nexus 6 original development threads(a day or two). Theres a version for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 7(2012). And now, its here for the Nexus 6 as well. Rastapop..
edit.. rom up!
ok, i need testers!
if you are on stock, wipe data. if you are on an aosp rom, you can try dirty flashing. do not wipe internal storage. if you boot without a radio, reflash. i get a fc st bootup even stops right after boot, and when i open settings it theres a fc, then stops.

@simms22 isn't LRX21V the version before the ota? Any reason it's built on that vs the LRX210
Whoa, nice. Excited to get started on using a custom ROM with features.
Wow, thank you simms, rascarlo, anyone involved!

The way AOSP is set up, it uses the same alphabet order when there are incremental builds. O comes before V, etc. V being the latest I believe.

Duh, I had a brain fart. Built from aosp. Was thinking my Samsung ways and taking a ROM and hacking it apart, not building from source.
Thanks guys
i will probably be sharing the first build later today, as we need more testers. and this thread will be the perfect place for testing.

Upon booting into rastapop test, it is now Encrypting, about 2 minutes to do it.
SmartcardService, CQATest, SprintDM fc
Edit: To get back to my stock backup, reflashed unencrypted boot img, reflashed twrp, and wiped dalvik and cache.
What is Sprintdm?
